still I dont get it
theres always other options
that's true, but not what I meant
oh
I meant there's always bigger competition
😭 metaphorically
@tender bolt How long have you had ur economy bot for
Oh wow
I haven't even reached a year yet 😭 Is this ur first time on auctions?
I see
I like to savour my discord messages, really take them in before moving on to the next
Big flex
A man of culture
there you go mate
some extra memes
Maybe I'm dense but what direction is "behind" in left to right text lol
an example would be shit, in the case of "shit" as a filtered word
Clever! Gonna prank my buddy with this! Wish him luck 😈
funny moment
Can we ban this guy for cussing, mods? Thanks

that's actually really smart

@coarse ermine agree to split econ 2? my budget isn't very large lol
some people have too much money to spend lmfaoo
He's only making it more expensive for himself.
thx bryan ❤️
this is just..
the ratio is hilarious
Wild
Yeah not worth
well Go! by health hero is an NFT game so they're used to wasting money
just let them be
Lmao
you ever meet the dudes at sentropy?
no, they got bought by discord if I remember correctly
they still going at it
Maybe talked with them without knowing it 😄
yea my dms are spamming
bids are sometimes fun to look at
you should defo talk to them, they're starting to build out their AI tech AFAIK
They both gonna get featured, they just fighting over getting featured first
jeez
they just losing impressions at this point
i think they're replicating internal twitter tools with the if/then/else system of content moderation
saw it as a beta in a few of our larger customers
anyway /offtopic, ill stop
i think its more of a statement at this point, like "you're not getting ad space, full stop"
I have it in one of my servers, I wouldn't feel too threatened by it
Yeah, we're in a similar position - focusing on security tooling rather than content moderation - so same truths about discord not actually being able to build it to scale fast enough yada yada...

When do the ads go live?
they start go go live (3 minutes ago)
it can take a bit due to caching for the first ones to show up! and then they go live based on their CPM leaderboard (so the highest CPM ads show first, and then the next, etc)
Huh @oak whale
I bought ticket tag adds and yesterday I had open payments
I just wanted to pay them right now and somehow they are gone
You only have 12 hours to pay after auctions ends.
Lol
Its been almost 25
Anyone that bid less than you has the opprotunity to be displayed since you didnt pay, yes.
If you're signed up to get notifications you should get them, yeah. Depending on if youre signed up for discord or email notifications.
I got this mail this morning 12h late
This was 12hours after the biddings ended
Are you signed up for just email notifications? or email and discord?
we do have some bugs we are trying to iron out but the timings for emails should be the same
Yeah but I got the wrong mail 12h after the biddings ended
Can I not pay them right now because right now there are random adds displayed
I know who bidded on the ticket tag and those guys are not displayed right now
No, the auctions cycle has completely ended. Even if i went in and marked them as completed they still wouldn't show
😳
20800 - 20

I have 66 clicks on 1522 views. It’s all about creating a good and catching ad 😅
66 clicks for 1522 impressions does not sound like a good and catching ad
Yeah, most people that vote are server members not server owners
So they are most likely not looking for a bot
Though I wouldn’t consider mine as “catching”
Is that the minimum bid for voting page atm? 👀
If so, that’s a bit steep
Well, I am satisfied as mostly all of my clicks also mean a new server my bot joins
how does ur ad look like?
I didn’t create a special ad for this, just my normal short description people can see
@unreal turtle continue here if you wish, however there is nothing more that i have to add to the conversation 😄
Ok my point was:
If I pay for an advert which tells me I should receive an estimate of 62,000 impressions and I pay for it on time and before the deadline which is not mentioned on the actual payment screen. Then later I am told that my payment did go through but their system didn't mark it as completed until after their deadline. It is still the responsibility of Topgg to show that advert at the cost which had been agreed upon as I had paid for it and done so well in advance.
If Topgg cannot do that then I have been lied to in the product I have been sold.
I've paid for a product which I will never receive
That's theft
You can receive it by using the credits you received. Please avoid continuing unnecessary drama and misinformation. We will mute on next occurence ^^;
Um is this the dbl server
yes
Whats dbl
discord bot list
but this isn't the best channel to discuss non auctions related stuff in - #general
oh lmao
lol
Don't really see what they're misinforming people of, their request for a refund seems pretty valid to me. Unless you can replicate the exact conditions when they purchased the ad and when it'd have gone live then they did indeed pay for a product that they would not receive.
Which seeing as you can't guarantee the people who will bid, their amounts, the people who will view their ad and the people who will click on it will be the exact same people as when the advert should have gone live then they should be refunded the money they paid rather than being given it as credit. I wouldn't call that drama either.
bit hasty on the threat to mute
they paid money and they're asking where is the promised product
reasonably upset
^
they received credit for it but that wasn't the issue, it was due to the fact that they didn't receive it despite paying for it, so because topgg cant replicate the exact conditions and promise the exact cost that they would have received on the date(s) the advertisement would have shown then topgg have promised a product which they can't deliver so they should receive a refund to their card, not the credit for the original payment amount
that's their issue
its also ridiculous to me that once you deposit money into topgg, you will never get it back under any circumstances even if it's for a fair reason and quite legitimate reason
their guidelines also seem to state that topgg do indeed offer refunds but it doesn't appear to mention that you can only get it as credit not a refund to your card which is not how I believe anyone reading that would interpret it
We had already discussed this issue privately in dms and we explained the situation to them before. Then they decided to bring it to public channels.
In dms? Didn’t think topgg used dms for stuff like this

Besides, they just asked in a public channel where their terms covered chargebacks because they felt like they were being ignored
Then someone asked about their situation
And policy never changes without people speaking out against it
In a private thread. Sorry, not dms.
Still seems incredibly fast to tell someone they’ll be muted
Just looks like they were explaining their situation to someone who wanted to understand it
It also sounds like a policy which should absolutely be changed
I will see if we can discuss it when we switch payment providers
To clarify, I was unaware he already discussed it with the support team and was just trying to help him get information
To be completely fair it’s not like a refund system as long as the entire payment hasn’t been consumed or used in any way is an unfair thing to offer, and it’s also something that is offered by every payment gateway. Even if you did something like “contact topgg before the ad goes live and yeah we can refund it”, that’s not too much of a stretch either, it’s quite unreasonable to not offer one in my personal opinion and I’m sure others feel the same way
It also gives more of an appearance that topgg was money grabbing rather than topgg cares about its clients (past, present and future)
Anyway. I’m done now
They really need a an auction slot in the bidding page , so they can much more money
Well technically it's fraud
But it's also not because it's probably just an accident?
What do yours get?
I don't buy ads for the voting page
Well, that's a 4% CTR which is pretty solid compared to other ad types.
Maybe not in the top.gg world (I can get around 8% with my ad), but still pretty decent
Damn! Ok I cant top that!!!
I only made 5% this week but I was on slot 2 so I can't expect much
My biggest problem with my bot is retention. Half of my invites kicked in the first 24h
My theory is that since the ads launch on a Tuesday (yuck), it's sometimes better to be down in the list so you get preferable days.
I would bet that weekends see more clicks and invites because less people are at work/school.
What's the avarage CPM for top voted slot?
doing the math on the numbers it gives you, about 11.11%
I meant in dollars

there is no guaranteed amount because each week it is a new auction so its entirely dependant on the cpm people bid and the amount of people bidding
theres not really an average
some people bid $300 @ $300
which is inadvisable
if you pay to expect only around half of what it says then you'll have a good amount to bid
at least in my personal opinion anyway
and from my own bids that I've placed / metrics ive seen of other people
you generally only get about half of what it says
From all of my experiences, I’ve gotten all my impressions and extra clicks as well
Have you validated those with the likes of google analytics? Either by linking to a direct page with a product or with utm params (ideally both)
True, but I’m also satisfied with the results I’m getting as far as actual people in the server and bot invites so I’m not too stressed
If you're satisfied then that's all anyone can ask isnt it
True
Just some feedback but it'd be nice if we could see what slots we bid on because I bid a small amount on some random slots a few days ago and now cannot for the life of me find what I bid on
Actually I can search for messages mentioning me in #bids
But it's a bit unpractical
Randomly bidding on tags is eh.. not what everyone does?
The analyse tab should tell you which bids are currently active, along with stats to them
No since the bidding isn't over yet
Ohh, thought you've already bidded, yeah there's no practical way to see which ones you're currently bidding on apart from your method and checking the actual tags
feel free to suggest it on https://feedback.top.gg if you feel like it could be useful

alright
you're supposed to get pinged in #bids when you place a bid
try using the search bar for messages that mention yourself in that channel
Actually I can search for messages mentioning me in #bids
But it's a bit unpractical
hardly unpractical
more unpractical than a designated UI

The average up-to-date approval times are stated [here](#support message).
This does not mean it will take the same amount of time someone else's bot took to be reviewed and does not mean your bot is guaranteed to be reviewed within that time frame.
There is no exact time for how long bot approval will take.
There is a queue and you're not first, nor are you last.

I still cant get this fixed. I've tried different emails, clearing cache, waited a day, tried both paypal and bank. I don't want to miss out on my bid! Any suggestions?
Have you emailed fastspring support?
#auctions-support message
i'll try that now, thanks
np
Did the reddit tag get removed from auctions?
@earnest geyser you can have slot 2 😛
thank u
dont ban me 😢
I've learned my lesson with the bidding now, it's fun to watch people fight for the 1st slot at the very end
I don't understand why they fight for a $30 CPM
what is actually happening in top voted lmao
Oh 3 minutes here we go again
mint
@shell granite u win 🙂 take that spot

I actually bid on the wrong tag and only recognized it because the bot sent me a direct message
Double Counter setting a nice bar for us, thank you haha!
Sorry man had to take that one this time 😅
First time winning it though

nice to see the estimated clicks being accurate for a change 😊
Add your bot to get reviewed, If you haven't already
https://top.gg/bot/940994652008493126 - 403 means it is not on the site yet
this deserves more stars
Anyone has an estimate of the CTR for vote confirmation? I know it depends on the ad, just looking for a "more or less" to get an idea. Forgot to bid a bit on it this week just to field test
@blissful torrent ya its in the replied message
means its on the site, but not approved so no one else can see it
That is what I said?
Lol is it that bad? 😂
it is not on the site yet
I was referring to the part of the site that everybody can see
just didn't want the person to get confused and think they didn't submit their bot because thats what it sounded like
Sure thing! :)
I also said this 👀
Why would people that vote be actually interested in adding bots/have a large community though, conversion rate must be very low
my thoughts exactly
its getting seen, but won't convert well
most votes on Top.gg are for things like Mudae and bots with vote rewards, not people interested in adding bots/using a product
CPM would be worth something like $0.1, more or less
Just a rough stupid estimate
Worth looking at https://dblstatistics.com/
View the historical performance of up to 33759 bots listed on Discord Bot List (top.gg). Updates hourly.
I do not have any vote rewards or locked commands, people still vote because they want to support 😅
yeah
but then the likelyhood they're there to find a new bot to support is probably small
But it's clearly not worth a CPM above $1
ay thats new
In the end most of the spots land at $1+
They'll have a bad surprise
Nice to see this, saw this in the translation files and wondered when it will be live
Its a good feature
wow, an auctions slot!
The bots will grow and then also get taken down
Good ctr on bots , which every user can use like card games , anmie stuff , bad ctr on server utility like moderation, verification ....
You are on MacOS ?
why would that matter lmao
Screen quality blablabla windows is shit etc
im on win11 lol
Oh so you have an 4k screen ?
I see
if you want to see a high quality screenshot my laptop has a 4k screen
as does mine
this was due to none tracked the week before as it was a new slot :/
don't appreciate the toxicity :)
i just thought it was funny how the 0% CTR it showed on the estimation is shockingly close to the actual CTR as shown by people's own screenshots within these channels
i apologise for any (unintended) toxicity that may have come across with it

Hi there I won an auction but unable to see my bot on there. Please help. Thanks
Hi - I don't see that you paid for any of your auctions this week. Can we open a private thread in #auctions-support to discuss this further?
https://cdn.myprojects.lol/🌷🍺😷🥗🗞.png what a bad slot lmao
if i've just added a bot, the last thing i'm gonna do is add a new bot
xD
isn' t that toxic, ig you should delete it
as far as this slot, of course that and the voting confirmation are going to be bad slots for anything that is directly competing for what they just did. However, if a company filled that slot for say an ad for an energy drink or something, it may generate more traffic and better results
its sad seeing all these people give out so much hate for these spots that, in my opinion, are just being used the wrong way
How can i know if i got refunded or my auction will still run? (I was 2nd place)
ded chat
If you got 2nd place and you were estimated to get impressions, then your ad will run whenever the first place bidder gets all of their impressions. If you dont get all of the impressions that were estimated, then you will be refunded after this auction ends. If you were estimated to get 0 impressions, then your ad isnt likely to go live, but you also werent charged anything either
also #auctions-support is a better place to ask your questions and get a quicker response 😄
bots-more like this is not good ;-;
Can you bid (and win) on 3 categories at once?
You can bid and win on as many as you wish, just make sure you don’t bid with the intent of not paying
hello
Of course not, thank you!
No problem!
It'd be even better if the top 10 bots didn't abuse tags so that every first page shows the exact same list 😑
Is Probot really a music bot or does it just have one music related command 🤦♂️
oh wow, works for any tag. pretty cool
Shameless
But you still used the music tag just different bot name
damn theres actually other bot lists listed on topgg
I think bots should be limited to only 5 tags and not 12. If you can't describe your bot in 5 tags then it's either too generic or trying to be everything to everyone.
😔
I love the vote ranking
lmao
Thats a professional sort code 😈
Javascript sort function in a nutshell
@toxic brook
Nice auction today
do you have to create an ad or will it use your bots icon and short description?
If you decide to use your already present bot or server, it will use the metadata from that to advertise (icon, name, short description)
If you'd like to fully create your own ad, you can create a product instead, providing the name, icon and description to it. You could then link to either the website of your bot or directly to the invite link
ah awesome, thank you 🙂 was worried for a sec that i messed up xD
Bruh I thought this was gen

hey guys, Can I sell the received tokens for voting somewhere?
Auction Credits
What are credits?
- If enough people vote for your bot or server per month, you have the ability to earn vote credits that you can then use for auctions.
- Don’t know what auctions is? See here to learn more and here to participate.
- These auction credits can be used to pay for any winning bids you may make.
- You CANNOT “withdraw” them for real money.
How does the system work?
- Each month, bot monthly votes reset (midnight UTC).
- If you get 100 votes on your bot in the month, you can redeem $15 worth of voting credits (note: you can’t redeem till you actually get 101 votes).
- Any vote after 100 will be worth $1 per 1000 votes (or $.001 per 1 vote).
How do I redeem them?
- At the end of the month, you will be eligible to redeem your credits (you redeem them on your bot or server's Votes page). You will have 30 days to redeem them before they expire.
- After you redeem them, you have 31 days to use them before they expire.
How do I use vote credits to pay for Auctions?
-When you pay for your winning bid, you can "Pay with Credits".
-If your payment cost is more than the amount of credits you have, make sure to apply the credits first and then pay the rest with the supported payment providers.
You can read more about using your vote credits in our vote credit support article.
You can read more about Auctions in our Auctions support articles.

has the auction end moved to monday?
Yeah it's been a while!

@torn patio
i bidded top page slot 1 i won and i payed what should i do next
i went to payment and brought money and payed top gg
is it even possible to win auction with 15$ credit?
when do campaigns start running from yesterday's auctions
Advertisements start to go live at 7pm UTC (in around 3 hours and 15 minutes)
Thanks
hi
@novel furnace
So if I don't clear my cache when going to top.gg, I see ads from a week ago. Do they know how prevalent this problem is for other users and if they already can account for that in impressions?
Cache is a +-30 minutes thing that occasionally clears itself in said +-30 minutes
@peak bolt 👀
bai
are the people bidding for some of these pages literally bots or just trying to waste credits
$100 cpm, i can't even
if they reach my conversion which i think is pretty high they would be paying $12 per server add
Maybe they don't know how it works
Or just they are rich peeps
Or maybe they can get this money back 🤷🏼♂️
Hello guys
hi
I'm bidding for the first time so I'm kinda confused by this... Why are people paying so much if the total amount of impressions an ad usually generates is not even close to being hit? Even if you're the last in the leaderboard you'll still get your impressions for a much cheaper price as long as the bots above you don't suck up all of them (which according to the leaderboard they won't), am I missing something?
i'd assume they have tons of ad credits and are not treating it like real money, but i snooped a couple and they don't seem to have $100 ad credits, so i have no idea.
Okay thank you
ahem
So must I pay for the $100 and my application will be on the page?
First time bidder
@neat valley
real
Hutta
just got like best buy 🙂 welcome tag 1k impressions 8% conversion rate for 1$
I keep getting messages just now saying I won an auction but I don't see a pay option for any new ones.
Oh alrighty, thankyou
@novel furnace
ty bun
usually how many clicks will 3.33k impressions on the top page slot 1 get?
There's no direct way to determine clicks, as clicks depend on both where the ad is, aswell as how interesting the ad is
hmm alrightt
Where the place for send the link to me bot
nowhere in this discord server.
Okay im sorry
Auctions!!!! 💸
lmao just found an ad on the searchbar with an invalid invit
poor owner
feelin bad for them
That's why Mods do not pay attention to it
@umbral spire Just thought I'd pop a quick ping to let you know that your invite code for your search bar advertisement is invalid - don't want that money to go to waste
We can reverse engineer a goal by looking at the views and clicks Top.gg gives us.
By dividing clicks by views, we can get the percentage of clicks all ads have gotten
(from Top.gg estimates)
Here I got 0.072% that an impression also clicks on your ad.
Now it's hard to tell how that's concentrated, but you can roughly aim for 0.072% as your click rate for your ad, if you are far below this, you should attempt to adjust your ad.
This is only for those who are bidding on ads for that ad placement, so you'll have to do the math for ad placements in other places on the site.
Ohh alright, thankss!
@grizzled ocean that ratio isnt worth it, you can have it
yes, but wont expire
Yea
Kekw
Hey, new to auctions, how many people could I see realistically join a social, dnd, gaming server if I got a good ad? hundreds or thousands?
depends on tag, impressions and how clickable/interesting your ad is
is it realistic to be able to have 1k to 3k join?
the clicks, which is essentially what you're asking for, may not be forseeable, so the CTR (click through rate, meaning impressions that lead to a click from an ad) may not be high
a good CTR percentage is what you're looking for, you might get a higher CTR on tags that are related to the product and often popular
general tips about increasing your CTR is making your ad stand out from others, make it appeal to viewers, consider using easy to understand language on the description etc
Why does higher max budget increase CTR? If my budget is higher am I supposed to keep bidding up to that point?
From my understanding, a higher max budget may increase it - to a point. How percentages work is across a long period of time Event A should happen X% of the time. With a small sample set it can differ. For example, possible when flipping a coin to get 7 heads and 3 tails out of 10 flips. When you get larger and larger, it gets closer to the 50/50 chance we all know. If you pay for just a 100 impressions, it will be more skewed then how accurate a CTR of a 1000 impressions.
The tradeoffs of just putting all you got in a bid can be insignificant. You don't what your CTR will be for sure. This means that maybe paying for 10,000 more views only increases your CTR from 6.99% to 7%, depending on your situation - maybe not worth it. I wouldn't focus on pushing a large budget to increase your CTR; however, it should have an impact on CTR.
what CTRs essentially are is the percentage from an impression that caused a click (impression: a view; click: a click on an ad)
and that's things you cant force really
apart from having an appealing ad, aswell as one that is actually related to the tag you're looking at
When do you know you have bid enough to have your ad shown?
Is it top 10? Or goes by how many available impressions there is based on estimate
It’s not always top 10, it depends on how much impressions one bid for and if he’s able to save the spot
One could also take all the impressions and the others get nothing
You’ll mostly get notified by the bot or get an open payment which basically means you’ve saved yourself a potential spot
so what if my ad is not shown, will the money get returned
Yes, if that’s the case you’ll be refunded in Credits
What does it mean to save a spot? For example, there is now an ad for Lemonade in Front Page Top Voted Slot 2 bidding $1.00 @ $3 Budget. He is at the bottom. Do just need to be ahead of him with $1.25 CPM? Do I save a spot for"initial bid" but lose it the minute anyone in the auction decides to raise their bid CPM above mine?
An example I'm thinking of is I'm bidding for 20,000 impressions, but a guy wants 1,000 impressions but higher CPM decides to bid after I bid, would it bump me out?
When you bid, your product's name is shown on the leaderboard in either white or greyed out - if you are in white, that means you are estimated to receive impressions.
it doesn't matter what order they are bid in, its based on CPM - so yes, if he bids for less impressions but a higher CPM, he will be shown first and possibly "take" some of your impressions.
I would recommend reading this article: https://support.top.gg/support/solutions/articles/73000508235-how-does-cpm-bidding-work- it has a lot of visual guides to help explain CPM bidding
What’s CPM? CPM, also known as cost per mille, is the amount you’re willing to pay per thousand impressions on your advertisement on our page. For instance, if you bid $2.00 CPM, that means you have to pay $2.00 per 1000 impressions of your prod...
I have so far only seen things greyed when an auction ends, but if I make a bid it will automatically decide to grey or white or does it figure that out after the auction closes?
Here is an example (Gaming Tag, Slot 1 for bots)
the top two are in white, and are estimated to receive impressions
the bottom two are greyed out, so unless they increase their CPM over the other two, they are not estimated to receive any impressions
the top two have taken all of the available estimated impressions
"estimated impressions" are the past 4 weeks actual impressions divided by 4 (so the average amount of impressions for the past month) - obviously the category could get more than estimated or less than estimated - this is where automatic refunds or retroactive charging occurs
So I'll know for sure a bid is good now if it will come out white immediately?
if its white, it means you are estimated to receive impressions yes! it matters who is white at the very end of bidding though (you can get kicked down)
There is no delay in the website deciding the bid is good, it's all immediate. If that's correct, then thank you for your help
I believe that is correct
click the refresh data button on your bot's page
when does the bidding end/
In 1 hour and 12 minutes
@vast hound im fine with that split
alright
This makes me worry they’re not measuring clicks or impressions correctly
Which makes it hard to bid on the most effective slots properly
they told me yesterday that the analytics page is buggy
so it's really hard to see if the ads are doing good or not
If it’s just that page that’s at least okay. Still hard to measure success but better than the core measurements we’re bidding on being wrong
