Hey folks! <@&1064947337207746640> and <@&556148669242408971> -
We were recently made aware of an issue where certain adblockers were blocking our impression tracking endpoint for our Auctions advertisements. This means that while the advertisements were gaining impressions, we were not able to count them properly. We have remedied this issue, so now our impression tracking in your “Analyze” tabs and estimates during bidding will more accurately reflect true impression counts that advertisements have been receiving and will receive in the future. We have also taken steps to prevent this issue from happening again in the future.
What does this mean for Auctions?
This is going to result in increased estimates for impressions on ad slots allowing more of you to participate in bidding on our highest performing slots, allowing more bidders to get their fair share of the pie. Tracking will be improved and impression counts will be more accurate to actual views on ad slots. However, tracking for clicks was not affected by adblockers, so this means that while impression counts will appear higher than before, clicks on your ads should remain around the same as they were before. This will have the effect of your CTR appearing lower than it was previously, but in-fact the performance of your ads haven’t changed.
We apologize for the confusion as impression counts start to be reflected more accurately. Estimated impressions in Auctions bidding will increase, allowing for more people to have their ads displayed throughout the week.
As part of our ongoing commitment to our Auctions customers, we’ve also recently onboarded a new site engineer and we have plans to onboard two others in the coming weeks to help mitigate issues in a more timely manner moving forwards and improve your user experience.
