I have built Chongqing before, owing to recent viral trends I decided to rebuild the city from scratch. This time I have put in more detail, and experimented with lighting and fog to capture the cyberpunk futurism of this madly fascinating metropolis of 30 million people.
Jiefangbei is a major commercial area in Yuzhong District, the CBD of Chongqing. The monument is a symbol of Chinese resistance against Japanese invasion and ultimate victory, hence the name 'Jiefang' (Liberation) 'Bei' (Monument).

Shibati is a historic neighbourhood located next to Jiefangbei. Its name derives from the sections of steps to walk up and down the area; ie 'Shiba' (Eighteen) 'Ti" (Steps). This neighbourhood is filled with hipster and cultural shops selling traditional products, and provides an ancient and laidback setting in contrast with its surrounding cyberpunk cityscape.

Another major commercial area in Chongqing is Guanyinqiao (Guanyin Bridge), where street food and local shops side along major department stores and luxury brands. It is trendier than Jiefangbei and sets an aesthetic that is equally as cyberpunk and futuristic.
