We got trams, but not light rail, I want to build a transit system as shitty as Charlotte NCs

Just make the transition rails above.

Idk about Cities Skylines 2, but irl most trams can go at least 70kmh. (And in many cities they do go that speed on some segments

we should have actual tram/light rail stations though

I think it would be neat if light rail was a vehicle option for tram depots (requiring the placement of a specific locomotive-shed module) that could utilize both tram and train tracks. Light rail able to get higher top speeds while using train tracks.

They would of course have a role as an aesthetic/roleplaying/real-life-city-replicating option, but in gameplay terms I can see them being balanced out as a really neat alternative to building out a metro system for players who have built a tram network that's struggling to cope with passenger numbers but are short on cash for building out a completely new metro system from scratch / are rather space-constrained AND have a legacy of rail infrastructure in their city.

The con that has to be weighed up of course being sacrificing capacity on your rail lines for a much cheaper pseudo metro+suburban rail system.

don't light rails use the same vehicles as trams?

#

this is a light rail vehicle in my city

#

they are called "suburban rail lines" when they say it in english but their literally translated name would be "rail that serves local areas"

#

or "local interest trains"

#

they connect nearby cities to the capital city

Cause I don't think I've seen light rail ever in my life, so I'm just wondering where that usually exists

Why not just use a bigger tram with a different look (trams can be fast, in my city they go up to 60 km/h
