You can remove the sidewalk to make it look like asphault road

use 3.5m or 5m sidewalks and try to have the roads be at full unit width

You can't. I really wish sidewalk size can be morphed. Also wish median wouldn't just get cut off if you want to have like a pocket for left turn

if you cant make your way arround with changing the total road width so that it ends up an integer and not a decimal, you can always try the Clip surface over the strange sidewalks, and then atempt to retouch it with decals, netlanes ou even other surfaces over it
