It is an extremely unrealistic system - we can point out the current problems which may have been mentioned before and how to fix:
Customisation - The airports can't really be designed, you only have two different airports which are all pre-built. They can be kept, but we should be able to design/build our own terminal buildings, and build runways/taxiways like mods in the first game so it can be more unique and possibly more fitting to the city someone wants to build
Operation/AI - The airport/airplane system in the game is treated as if air travel is a form of public transport, using the same system as trains, buses, metro and trams. But air travel is not public transport. Planes are always owned by private companies - airlines. Instead of the player creating routes, it should use the same system as in the first game in which planes come and go - and are not managed by players or use player routes. Also there shouldn't be any unrealistic banking straight after takeoff or before landing. Planes don't do that in real life
Maybe ground crew operation - Luggage, catering, fuel and pushback vehicles are necessary in real-life plane operation. It would add a bit more realism to be added - or just for aesthetic
Integration of public transport We can build public transport outside airports (excluding the train integration in the International Airport) but it really would be better for transport to be proper connected to the airport (as in the entrance/exit is within the airport). And to all terminal buildings, there should be an add-on attachment for taxi and bus
Offices and hotels - Inside/outside the airport building could be offices for administration, operation and airlines - and maybe business parks could be built near airports for more office space. There should also be an add-on for airports in which commercial hotels are available for rent (it must be a hotel) for passengers/visitors to stay near the airport
