#Kīrešte / Ceuerstad - Small Baltic Themed City
658 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ill try to keep posting my new stuff here!
Ayeeee
Real
try using french low rent apartments for avarage eastern european apartments
i actually have! Those remind me of stalin era housing. I think for the more well known soviet era khruschov apartments theres one uk medium density asset i love using
you can see the assets in use in this screenshot
im interested in how the new eastern europe asset pack will look
though actually im suspicious it wont be that useful for me, as i don't like standout highrises much, i feel like a lot of assets impose too much on the older architecture
they better add the longer versions of the soviet apartments too
not only highrises
this was literally on my wishlist of buildings i need!!! it's just like the radisson hotel in riga!
this is what i had here before... not ideal!
yes new updates of ur city!
Tbh the buildings are very good but they made only high versions, but for example in slovakia there are longer version buildings which were wide not high
The city which ill be building will need wide buildings
add a 4 lane highway next to ugly 15 floor prefabricated building district
yes, i agree. The detail is amazing, but they are simply too tall to incorporate in lots of builds, mine as well. many panel blocks don't go higher than the traditional ~5 stories, and seemingly, that has been put aside for the pack.
i might just eat my own words... i kind of like how they look actually
Same in slovakia 60% of those panel apartments are less than 6 stories, only in bigger cities like bratislava or kosice have the bigger versions
i really would like some second opinion: would this block make sense/fit in the city? (of course considering that this is a city in the former eastern block)
Yeah definitely, I’d make some sort of border speersting the “original city” and the new post war apartments
Yes my city has these in between u could add parking
i have something similar in my city xd
heres how im leaving it for this week
not really ceuerstad, but i have a new small scale side project inspired by Fredrikstad!
looks amazing
Evening 🙏 🙏
Cute
the EE assets are kind of weird... unbalanced. imagine the red sticks are cims - that's how many people can live in these, which without further yapping i just find extremely unrealistic...
the german assets for example! while twice as large, house (maybe!!) half of that!
highway plan!
wooo
"new project" district im working on a little right now
the china pack has a lot of great modernism assets!
these condos look amazing in my opinion
this is an insane sleeper district now by the way lol...
AND!!!! Kīrešte is now at 60k pop :DD
this is all for today.
fr the 2 story low rent house at l5 has 192 households for some reason
Apparently these household numbers are generated by the ai and it doesn't calculate it accounting for the height. These assets are designated as low rent and so it expects low rent to be as dense as a 73 story tall building in kowloon
makes no sense
for real, might be my favs from the pack
they really couldnt come up with a better household number measuring system...
up to the modders to fix it again ;-;
when will CO learn
don't smaller cities have those high versions as well? I remember like 13-storey ones in rużomberok
Great work!
yeah, but that are the only tall one not wide and tall
new block transitioning the city center to a more suburban part
also! new plan for the western part of the city! (gray = panel housing ; pink = stalin era housing ; brown = baroque housing)
although i didn't hate this old block of panel housing, i never thought of it as anything more than experimental. The layout of it is way too rigid, and so comes off as if it was forced to fit in the urban fabric. Another issue for me being that there is little to no urban transition between the old architecture and the modernist.
my vision for the western part is something closer to a revitalized "forest city" mixed with some soviet modernism.
because here in eastern europe apartments are small with a lot of people
yes
what? please look again... this is quite clearly not meant to show off the "communal blues" of the stalin era. there would be a min of like... roughly guessing 5 people per room in the pictured building?! this is clearly a zoning mechanic issue where the game doesn't take into account the height of an asset.
well arguably in a contrast a good example is poland, where modern architecture is often prevelant... i wouldn't say its that out of place...
Make small compact highways with emergency stop lane NOT oversized "lethal freedom overdose transferred to eastern europe" size highways
This is close to what i mean. 3 lanes in each direction except on exit or entrance and has room to stop if your car breaks down
im actually inspired mostly by riga, where there are big highways going through certain districts that are quite devastatingly oversised...
this is roughly about the size of my highways.
depends on when the highway was built
2000-2010 and later would be this (sunken)
and 1960-1990 would be way bigger than this
arguably my highways are smaller than yours in some ways! mine don't really reach 3 bidirectional lanes!
i have mostly only bidirectional 2 lanes
i would say my highway sizes are pretty conservative...
if i were to go full soviet this whole waterfront would be one big highway! 😅
so good really
you know what i live in a crumped apartment 56 square meters 5 people
uh... well i feel for you... im just saying, even your situation isn't as cramped. This is just unrealistic for an average building of that size in the given setting...
What kind of map did you build this city on?
So beautiful ❤️
Nice project mate
its a blank heightmap of the Venta river 😅
i don't like ready to play maps because i like planing cities from scratch, without existing highways and nature
New block!
and KECC office complex, which is my first real custom building!
finally fixed my ui disappearing
anticlimactically i just needed to reinstall my mods...
tu esi no rigas?
Yeah
First highrise commie block!
although i don't like them, they are a lot of fun to build actually
also i think it's been a while since i have show off the whole of the city in one span
Ahh... Its kind of a weird one. Ive been thinking for a whille about just totally redoing it. Im just not sure how to
very understandable
looks just like ventspils
The heightmap i have used is pretty much the ventspils area
Though my build is almost nothing like ventspils in many ways
As a resident of such houses, I can say that although it turned out beautiful, it is not very realistic. Usually such houses are not built with a solid wall, but with blocks with an offset (I am writing through a translator, so there may be inaccuracies in the translation)
As an example I can give the following development
You're not exactly wrong, but it's not entirely right either. Lots of blocks are in fact built with an offset. Though for example such long blocks do exist. That's why theyre often nicknamed "the great wall of china". My hometown is such and example. You can see both offset and straight blocks in this image! :)
I might redo a couple of them with an offset to break too much monotony though
I admit I was wrong, I was focusing on panel houses from the former USSR
Youre not wrong, just that pannel house planning has very diverse types of implementations. Many people forget that there are multiple architects working behind these districts
@stable oyster i did a little tweaking with the offsets :)
i am still going for the wall of china look, but they did lack offset.
or maybe this is even better
Looks very good
hm... on some level maybe.
judging from the pics it looks like a district that already existed before panel housing. In my situation the blocks are completely seperately planned
im attempting something more like this
albeit with some creative liberties to fit my own scenario
Just had my game crash when saving and am now set back like a ton 😐
some pics i could salvage of my progress :(
will try to remake it all in the next week.
at least i have a reference to work off of
any criticisms i can fix with this opportunity?
this was going to be a cool update to this thread, but i guess that minimal suspense i had was killed lol...
the park in image 3. is "atmodas parks" or "awakening park" which is inspired by uzvaras parks in Riga. Uzvaras parks was (to my knowledge?) made after Latvia gained independence, it hosted many singing festivals that play a big part in modern Latvian culture. After soviet occupation it got a different soviet meaning and kind of became a symbol of the occupation. My park is inspired mostly by the modern day form of it that is mostly still the soviet modeling of it.
I think it reflects well the panel block district next to it and the era!
this is how it looked recently! Now it is going through modernisation efforts!
I think i will add a water feature when recovering it, making it more linked to the real park.
I also made some stalin era apartments, inspired by this crossing in Teika (ģelbes iela/brīvibas gatve)
image from wikipedia
it has two bus stops and from the crossing you can see Jaunā Teika, which is a modern office/apartment development
I think The KECC office represents Jaunā Teika somewhat, although that is on complete accident.
The district in Ceuerstad is named Siliņi, the name is partly inspired by Pļavinieki, which is famously a panel block district. (pļava - field, sils - forest, the district is well forested and has a part of the nature park that is on the coast having a lot of forestation)
Its not really a representation of Teika or Pļavinieki, or anything at all for that matter, it's just kind of an amalgamation of everything that is placed more so on the outer edges of Riga.
partly the forested single family homes in the north of the district are slightly inspired by Mežaparks, which literally means "forest park".
well uh... i will take a break now and try to get the motivation to rebuild all of that stuff sometime "soon"
this really hit me for some reason
i have had a lot of progress in this district lately!
lovely updates
i used to take my bike to the repair shop just down that street lol
28 family
Not that this is particularly relevant as of now, however i have a plan to rebuild the old town sometime.
it's pretty much the first thing i built on this save and it's showing it's age
Right now i am putting it off because i lack the assets (and confidence), but this is going to be eventually happening.
I think the old design is very rigid, lacks fluidity and although is close is generally just not the type of architecture i want
"fun" (fun?) fact - i used to zone everything manually WITHOUT anarchy and just used the german pack backyard asset because i was really adamant about my lack of trust in anarchy
it worked for a while, but obviously it's really constricting to only be able to use one asset for "fluid" curves
You may have noticed, i like to use mods on a very minimal level :)
that's because i am very paranoid about losing any assets and pretty much having to replace them
i generally just lack a long term trust in lots of mods
i am not sure why.
but i have recently become a lot more liberal with my use of mods
id say there is a lack of old town assets especially the ones similar to latvia
riga has really cool buildings and its sad that they arent really in cs2
I expect more stuff fit for my project to come from community assets when the asset editor gets finished (never)
Although the Mediterranean pack was ok in adding a little variety
Kīrešte / Ceuerstad - Baltic Themed City
I dont think "eastern european" really reflects the project too well so in changing it to baltic.
Yeah yeah you can argue that the Baltics can be sort of eastern european, but i think that i would have to include more slavic aspects then. I dont really think the baltic region can be put into "northern" or "eastern" europe. Its just sort of its own distinct thing.
its alright, tho i think its more to a germany city to any other
nice nice
it can be Poland or warcriminalgradian oblast' or even the DDR (RAM for PC.)
implementing some of the basic reworked old town fabric :)
the mediterranean assets are pretty good
am taking things slow right now
maybe i will be finished by the end of summer 😅
actually now that i think about it my builds have never been that big ever
they arent the most detailed or the largest... but i try my best so that they are as whole as they can be... :)
this might be one of the last big projects i do for a while
well im finally back to where i was before i lost the save and have even made a little more progress than previously!
for some reason my mood really tanked after losing the save
in this update i did some major infills and got the western edge of the city done.
here is Atmodas parks! In the end i actually stayed with the old version as i couldn't really figure out a nice way to implement a water feature.
The commie block district by the ring road
The infills by the city centre
(this part is inspired by VEF in Riga, which was historically an industrial part over the railroad at one point, although now it's more a part of the inner city)
some of the stalin era architecture i mentioned here :)
and finally some more tree coverage by the coast expanded!
here's the status of the build right now: Green - relatively done ; Yellow - Planned out ; Orange - Very clear vision, doesn't require strict planning ; Red - not sure what to do with these pieces, but there is some bigger picture vision.
Kīrešte / Ceuerstad - Small Baltic Themed City
uh... yeah... i think marking this as a small city is more accurate
hopefully ill stop editing the title of this thread
also: i would like some opinions. What looks better? messy land grab type of blocks, or structured ones? (i did a quick mock up with two blocks on the lower-right corner of the second pic)
i might redo the central city blocks if this looks better.
@lost scroll @glossy stream please vote!!!!!!
i got inspired by @past roost 's blocks
honestly im kind of completely disconnected from the CS2 discord and rarely browse other beople builds so my techniques are sometimes very old or... stupid. 😅
technically though, in riga blocks are like this.
on what?
Which type of block is better
.
left image
👍
what do u think?
riga has both and i think they both have their own charm but if i had to pick between 1 i think it would be the stuctured ones
i dont think the assets are good enough to do the messy building type
i might do both, transition like from the messy ones to the structured ones - from the centre to the suburbs
i think that would be a compromise
yea that makes sense
this is what i wouldve suggested. doing a mix of both
its been a while!
admittedly i have recently been more busy with school, finding a summer job, traveling... blah blah blah...
nonetheless! Here is what i have been working on for the last month!
I recently got the time to finish this
An expansion into the suburbs and nature around Ceuerstad!
im trying out some more vertical fields and tree lines!
heres a generic suburb
a rich historical neighbourhood in the forest by the sea
and the highway going southwest!
Amazing
So good
Are the farmlands from vanilla or farm surface pack?
its a farmland pack :)
im very happy you guys come here so fast 😅
im really motivated by you all
im using those right now as well
i still don't get it, but i think its looking good for now
i know you can make some amazing and extremely detailed stuff with it like the trail of a combine too, but i use only the base surfaces for some fastish farmlands
updated status of the build right now: Green - relatively done ; Yellow - Planned out ; Orange - Very clear vision, doesn't require strict planning ; Red - not sure what to do with these pieces, but there is some bigger picture vision.
The yellow spot in the south of the city is what i will be working on now
How dare you to have a life instead of playing Cities: Skylines 2 day in and day out!
Jk btw, this is all really cool. I like how you’re planning ahead for your city!
i love this
So this is gonna be a smaller update... As you can tell i initially wanted to fill out this entire banana shape with tons of stuff, but i remembered how barren the given industrial assets are. I COULD fill it all out if i really wanted to, but it would be mostly aesthetic and wouldn't really function. Here's what i have rn:
KU (kīreštes universitāte and the parks made together with the stalin era realist buildings:
I like to imagine a hotel was added in the 2000s or late 90s
so goooooooooood
some lighter industry
i finally finished the highway by the riverside over here
and last but DEFINETLY not least a custom bus terminal:
im really happy with how it came out
This is the part i unfortunately will be putting off. Here will be some more industry. I have however filled out the road layout
There are two roads i lifted up and converted into bridges now!
and an updated status:
I really need to get into making less dense areas with shorter buildings, looks amazing
I have also finally gotten to making a comprehensive transportation system! These are tram lines 1, 2 and 3
These are busses: Terminal - Kociņi, 1 and 2
i will naturally be adding more lines eventually!
The trains also run, but i didn't feel the need to illustrate them here... it only really goes from the edge of the map in the south, into the central station, then to the northern edge.
as a side note: i imagine this district has been bombed after ww2. There would have been tons of lower density wooden and georgian housing but after the war the district gets wiped and in place are made huge stalinist buildings with a park and soviet monument (now dismantled). You can see some small bits of the original urban fabric still left by the industrial buildings and the bus terminal. (on the right of it) The road layout is also very similar to the prewar state, however only the arterials and main roads are left, with the smaller backyard (or what used to be the backyards of buildings that were bombed) and utility roads dismantled. A cannal where the city walls used to be is also present.
cool
Oh, so this is set it in an area more akin to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania? I was imagining Finland and Sweden when I saw Baltic.
Not rigid enough grids for it to be nordic
many people mistake the baltic sea for the baltic region lol...
Hey guys. quick test i am making:
can you tell the difference in these two patches of trees?
because i can. and its a huge matter of time consuming technique efficiency i could potentially improve
This one looks a bit more dense
The thing is that one is completely placed by hand, the other one is made with the line tool mod. I'm not sure if i should continue placing by hand or sacrifice some quality for efficiency. It takes a long time to make these forests
You dont use the forest brush thing to get a mix?
on the right looks better
nope... individually placed by hand. heres an example of a forest i redid some time ago. 1. is brushed, 2. is by hand.
trust me... you can hold the brush as long as you want... it will never be as dense as by hand
I kinda like both
There isn't a forest that is perfectly dense, maybe you should work in some lower density areas or clearings with your manual method
Extended the nature and suburbs over the train tracks to the river bank, also a small kinda dying industry exclave:
Status update:
bonus: the plan i used
✨ ⭐ 💫
ur forests are the best
Oh boy the next update will be FORESTS
So im gonna cut this update early since i may have bitten off more than i can chew and am just taking way too long to post something.
I finally got around to making these missing suburbs between Ceuerstad and Kociņi!
A historical neighbourhood, built behind an old defensive dike and some suburbs sprawling into cut down forest areas.
This is the plan i am following. Originally i of course wanted to complete it all... but forests take a really long time to make by hand.
ill get around to doing it all eventually!
updated status:
And a transit map i made... :D
i might have accidentally encased the city in a green belt haha...
i promise lost of fields after the forests!!
Hey! This isn't an update to the city really. But I have made a short guide on how to make the forests and fields in my style. Hope it's useful to someone! Feel free to discuss any aspects of it, maybe there are some possible improvements to the technique or how I could have formatted the guide better.
Here's my first finished project haha... funny to think it's not Ceuerstad. Nevertheless, I think it's a step up in my detailing skill and a good build, so do check it out! It's more of a one off and finished project, so don't expect big updates or much more content, but I will be posting some complimentary graphics and details.
remember this? :)
whats the pop of that small town?
About 6400
Nice
Nice city you have there btw you gave me alot of inspirations for my new town which ill be starting in few weeks
If i may ask, whats your specs for pc
12th gen i3 i think and a 3060 6gb
YES
Its nothing crazy, but it runs everything good
Cuz ill have i5 and i will buy rtx 3060 soon
8gb i think
One of those
Imma either get the 8gb ond or 12 gb
Buy 12gb
why go lower when for a few tens more you can have a majorly improved experience with 12gb compared to 8gb
Ok
I planned buying it
If i may ask whats the name of the map
this
.
.
custom made 💪 💪 (took me about 30 mins to make)
lol
oh
@tender veldt
easily one of the best cities here
Argh!!! Been so damn busy
Update on monday
12pm ptsd standard time or whatever
Dont expect much
Ok nvm. Scratch that i have a dorsia reservation on tuesday, so delay that to wednesday
This expansion represents the big plantation forests that are very common in Latvia. More specifically Garkalne forests and the stretch of forests between Ventspils and Ugāle in western Courland for example.
I do have to admit that in placing this huge span of trees by hand I did make the tree pattern a little lazy.
More fields!
Some of these fields are maybe more geometric than i'd like them to be, but I think it fits in nicely with the previous Kociņi expansion (a bit north) as I had to blend in with an older version of field making technique I had at the time. And as a bonus represents the privatized kolkhoz fields in eastern europe as well.
I have as well reached the boundary of the build that will still be small enough to be doable for me but also depict the surrounding countryside nicely. Here is how I have decided to define it (actually it's so big that you can't really even render it all if you want to get a full topdown view, I can assure you that it's a ring around the city 😅 😂 ) :
and the panoramas :D
oh and some cute family homesteads
I have reached 1000 hours in the game now
and about half of those are in this city
Beautiful ! I've rarely seen fields so well done! What theme do you use to get this look please?
damn
It's not exactly a theme, but i use an agriculture surface pack.
Farming Surfaces and Decals - Paradox Mods https://share.google/d38kZXORPPiveeBMR
Hey @rancid tulip how do you know so much about European road planning, I’m danish so your road layouts are so weirdly realistic to me and I love it
genuinely dont know how to answer this lol... i guess i just spend a lot of time on google earth just exploring and coming to conclusions what feels inorganic with my layouts. not really anything i can put into words as its like handwriting.
Fair enough, I feel the same about a lot of other stuff in cs2 just not European road planning, idk why but I usually just feel like I can’t get it right especially countryside stuff.
practice makes perfect. I was pretty bad not that long ago too.
nicee
I have finally implemented this age old "new" old town plan! Quite a mouthful...
admittedly its not up to the standard of what i would design today, but its a lot better than the original old town. So dont mind some lower detail work or planning quality here... 😅
In filling out the gaps I had to keep a little faithful to what I had filled out back in spring so its somewhat cohesive haha...
my
My favourite is this department store heavily based on the Ulmanist AEV (or now Galerija Centrs). Some other Ulmanist buildings can be spotted around.
There is also a custom church, some offices, some undeveloped land lost to ww2 bombing, a square and a reference to the 'Three Brothers' buildings in riga.
The Ceuerstad Dom (cathedral) is still however something I have to make sometime later as you may notice the huge hole in the middle of the old town...
And finally some more countryside filling in the ring of nature around the city.
- a city panorama: :)
absolutely beautiful
as always
I really love this city, especially those dense forests.
Holy smokes 😮
very cool, nice references to riga
Incredible, i especially love these forests and the countryside. 🔥🔥
How did you make them(the forests)?
by hand lol
you can read this:
I didn’t see it 😅
But it must have taken forever😂
Well done for the effort🔥💪
click/press on the quoted text, it will send you to it
ah lol...
its been a week and all i have done is drawn one road
would any1 be interested in a map purely countryside like this? i personally am really sick of plain heightmaps with some random tree spam and a complete highway.
although i am not sure if anyone would be interested in so much demolition work just to clear some countryside for a new development
i guess the map would be more for people who like to rp city development
YES
there are plenty of maps that are above average polished like that which are popular
speaking of maps... which map are you building Ceuerstad on? it looks stunning btw (the city i mean)
dis
.
maybe some of you are a bit disappointed that its such a boring answer lol...
oh! i was looking through the thread to see if you posted it before but must've missed it 😬
its fine haha
only disappointed that I can't get the map off pdx mods and play on it myself lol
now u can
or at least i think you should be able to. tell me if it doesnt work. it was a quick and lazy upload
i love you
id: 121803
bruh the bot wont show it :,)
enjoy the pancake
i was abt to say she is FLAT
i cannot handle elevation. you can feel how averse i am to it
but it is exactly what I've been looking for for a build inspired by my home region (Pomerania in Poland) so thank you!!!
i feel that honestly lmao
me too. not enough flat maps
tag me when you make something. i wanna see!
will do 🫡
also, THIS is extremely helpful - i always struggle with suburbs and transitioning between lower and higher density - i feel like you've explained it quite well here
getting rid of these cloverleafs when designing this part was one of the least realistic things i probably did in this build 😭
i was embarrasingly late in getting informed on how bad diamonds are
this interchange is also pretty bad since it sits at THE main arterial gate of the city
what's the population of your beautiful city?
40k and declining! Just like in any western state! Great success!! 🥹 👍
Funnily enough, the population mirrors that of riga very well in a way. It used to be by half bigger.
i've been to latvia once (only to riga & jurmala) and actually this looks kinda similar
Riga is my main inspiration
At this point ive kind of realized this isnt all too much of a baltic themed build lol
Its just latvian
from eastern european to baltic to latvian lol
im just making basic american US town
@ me!
@rancid tulip what map is this?
@hard rapids
thank you
now I need to finally learn how to start a city xD
god I am struggling so much with this
That's pretty normal. You'll get the hang of it.
:)
begun reworking the "new cbd" district. really like fiddling with these custom modernist buildings. too nice to not share lol...
supposedly it should be a real functioning office complex... havent tested it though.
who reacted with the south korean flag?!??
plan i went off from:
Genuinely ran out of money lol... I had to get rid of all of my tiles and rebuy the bare minimum of them so the city can function with the last of my reserves
Hello V, as the Mayor of #1310958161980690432 and fellow KEC member, I would like to discuss the possibility of investing in Ceuerstad's tourism sector
Although there is no international airport in ceuerstad, its definitely very possible to integrate the city further into the european rail network and promote tourism. - xoxo KING OF TREES.
My assistant will be in touch soon with more details
I really like this picture, the city looks incredible realistic
you should probably add some parking cuz as i saw in your city that for that large city there are almost no parking spaces
yk what i mean if you know
like yeah
Im actually very aware of this haha 😅. Im just slightly ideologically dogmatic against parking and its very much an afterthought in my planning process entirely accidentally on top of that. I am going to try to include it more in future cities.
Oh and the buidling you pointed out originally had parking planned, but sometimes i plan it way too tightly and it just doesnt work well in game...
Finished the countryside in the south. Also: a solar farm.
Finally implemented the industrial quarter in the citys southwest
the main part of the city is now actually pretty much finished! :)
Panaorama, as always:
- my artistic planning transfer lol
Admittedly I think i went a little overboard with the field fragmentation on the left side 😣 , next time i will know my bounds a little better haha... 😅
stop being so impressive
absolutely stunning!
Very nice
are you also planning to expand the current city? like yeah there are some empty streets but in the way like into the outskirts and stuff or this is going to be more of a country like build that there are going to be more smaller towns
Not really no... Its all a bit too set in stone to change. This is not a roleplay build in the sense of progression. When i have planned something out it's probably final. Even if i did want to, it would be a lot of work probably to get rid of all the stuff i have made.
Main reason why i build countryside is cause yknow... That way its a full picture. Kinda lame when stuff abruptly ends.
Rivelle propaganda
I did not get hacked!!!
I was on tv mom
oh hey same
lmao why is my map so high
its just a blank map
i think people might be mislead by the thumbnail...
well yk most people dont read the description ;-;
Good thumbnails goes a long way
idk its a pretty sloppy screenshot i chose randomly actually lol
I mean yeah but I spent like 5 minutes to make a proper thumbnail and got 1.4k on a mid map. In conclusion, clickbait works
LMFAO
amazing
i’d still do worse
maybe it just adds to the comedy
next up a war veteran blows up a pond while trying to “fish”
-# inspired from a random post of a bosnian hitting a church instead of the river with his artillery gun to “fish”
i’ll always be the worst
It looks like a news article you’d read in GTA.
You gotta have that one building of protesters who cover basically every window with a balcony.

@rancid tulip dont know if it interests you but many new latvian cities added to google earth
ventspils too
yes i saw this! was extremely happy
construction companies and Funeral services rejoice
Balcony lobby goes crazy
Big balcony almost certainly had their meddling hands in this election, shame.
Big balcony has rigged the election to get government contracts and sell more balconies
Outrageous
cool ad
Today marks the one year anniversary of this build!
This city is very very imperfect. However it's my first "true" build! And for that i think its pretty good. I have learned a lot.
anyway! here is an update on the new Cīrulīši district!
It is a panel block district inspired more by Lithuanian soviet blocks. (Yes! there are actually quite a few differences in Latvian and Lithuanian blocks!)
Lithuanians blocks, how i noted down, are generally lower (around 5 stories) and more straight angled in layout.
Blocks in siliņi are styled in inspiration from Riga, which had more metropolitan and monumental ideas.
Now only some north eastern areas of the city remain.
Do you have a single basketball court in your city?
alright thats it im gonna organize a protest
feel like i should invest in Funeral services and insurance stock shares
got a feeling they’ll ramp up soon enough
🤑 🤑 🤑 🤑
oh right i completely forgot
in the past year I have covered aproximately 20.8km2 with a speed of 0.057km2(or 240x240m)/day
that is about one tile per week
ceuerstad has taken me roughly 500-600 hours
about 1.4-1.7h a day
so my speed has been about 200x200m an hour
holy fucking shit
i was actually right?
bro im RICH
finally decided im not putting up with this no more. this diamond was the worst offender. also kinda want some more variety in the interchanges for this build tbh
the cloverleaf looks better than i expected (though it is a little sloppy lol... i just didnt have the energy to actually polish it)
traffic has now been fixed 👍 👍
looks nice
-# dont ask why i reacted so fast
lol
It probably sounds corny but eitherway, since im now rich as fuck thanks to my stock investments where should i buy house in Ceuerstad?
oligarchic ahh 💀
i just got lucky with my investments dude
not my fault there was a “mysterious” death rate rise as soon as i bought actions for Ceuestad’s funeral & insurance services
i guess this is where all the rich people would probably live
beach + very central location
i have actually kind of realized i dont have a proper 2000s mansion/private home district
i mean thats why i ask those kind of questions to other people and myself
to get the gears going
B&P has got a haunted mansion as park
oh right. that was an interesting addition lol
im not buying a whole dlc for a big house tho 😂
ill buy it when ill make a port
more traditional architecture should be built in the city
man... i just realized i am REALLY missing a copy paste move it function.
these forests could go so much faster.
you could just copy a chunk, paste and rotate it a couple times, then add filler trees... done!!!?!?!!!!!!!!!!
no im seriously pretty sure ive spent like... a hundred hours on placing trees 😂
im questioning my sanity, and if it's really possible
oh oh oh villinth
wow i think it reached its peak finally
my suspicion is that it was caused by this initial and densest central part of the city i zoned in a very tight timeframe at the beginning
the death wave that is, if it wasnt obvious lol...

Why did i deadass think that was an irl pic 😭
Finale - the last fields and outskirts of the city i needed to fill in
While the build is very very flawed im pretty proud of it and i think ive learned a lot.
The Dom church has also been added to the old town. :)
After roughly a year the city is finished!
MASSIVE W!!!
CONGRATS
what mod did you use for the farms?
what mod do you use for the graphics?
Lumina
"farming surfaces and decals", though they're not functional.
theres so many reactions on this gallery 😭 😂
because its good
I legit can't load that asset pack
Whenever I try the game blows up 💀💀
Huh... Interesting. As far as im aware it's just some surfaces and decals
2 gigabytes
lmao
Probably ram issue
Ive stitched together a satelite view map of the city:
its very high quality and detailed, covering the entire model
illustrated version probably coming tomorrow
Also an updated public transportation map Coming Soon™
exporting and editing this map is a beast... its 15000x15000 in size
probably biggest scan ive put together so far
smol :3
tbh at least finished unlike my cities
i always quit xd
Did you take a lot of photos and arranged them?
That sounds like PITA
Sort of. Its a little tedious and tricky sometimes, but if you do it right its actually pretty fun to make these maps
illustrated version
Great work. Really love the density transitions and the use of forest and farmland to achieve a real sense of scale!
Infrastructurist as in the guy from yt?! 😂
Thanks man!
Yes 😊
zamn
simply amazing, makes me want to play again
will there be any projects sooner or later?
Yes but not that soon cause im freeing up time for school and stuff rn. In general tbh im a little scared i wont get to do stuff like this that much anymore cause next up im gonna be in uni and yk. Also i came to the conclusion this project was actually like seriosly taking up a lot of my energy and i generally feel a bit burned out right now. In a good sense i guess. Im finished with every project. I just dont wanna start anything i cant finish right now
But i would love to make a swedish city or a shorter dutch experimental build sometime, if i do get the time thats whats next.
ok
actually i think i have a goalpost
i will start on a new project when the copy/paste function of move it comes out
thats the biggest thing holding me back rn
now bullduze it all and make a theme park
With the money from my deathcare investments i shall start an empire by crushing the poor
\
funny note i want to make: I never actually studied riga (despite it being the focal point study for the model) as intensely as the other more minor references i have had for this project. As a result of this, for example you can see how remarkably grey roofs of riga actually are in reality, but how brick ceuerstads roofs are. lol...
this is what a year of compounding mistakes look like! stuff i would never ever do today, that is very apparent today, but was stupidly missed back then.
a reminder that doing overly ambitious projects without actual experience can turn sour
