#Union City

Haven't gotten around to replacing all the traffic lights with some of the new roads I put in, but here's a Pride Sign I decorated around and fillered
Some Apartment Amenities I detailed in
Public Park with Restaurant detailed into the side of the Apartment Building
Don't mind the super dark LUT/Theme, its broken rn, still need to get it fixed, I'll probably repost the pictures once I do get it fixed
This portion of the City, my "CBD" is has the highest foot traffic in the city, and as such its the most pedestrian friendly/pedestrian heavy area of the city (Speed Limit for example is 10 mph on this road)
and the biggest advertisement, in the most prime position (Right next to the Metro/Train BART Station) is for Keeping up with the Kardashians
View from the BART Station Entrance (BART Station is incomplete)
Im gonna IMT and detail this soon, but this scramble crossing (think Shibuya Crossing), looks so good, and this isn't even the highest amount of pedestrians I've seen crossing it, it's gotten way more crowded before.
All the Bikers Waiting for the Signal
All the Bikes and Pedestrians Crossing at once, it's gonna look so good when I fix the Stoplights and add more detailing and markings
Added a new Multifamily Development Complex to the area, next to an office park that is partially upzoned
I made sure to add a blank wall so I could add a massive billboard ad like the one in the picture below, along with a small pedestrian ad
The billboard is pretty hot advertisement real estate considering the main road the billboard faces directly connects to CA-84 and the Bridge that ends at Facebook's Headquarters. So traffic heading to the bridge will be heavy.
Traffic from the bridge to my city will also be heavy due to how I've designed and envisioned the city, density wise, with the sheer amount of office and high value shopping it will have
I used PO's for the ads because I wanted custom ones.
To build on my vision and design, I finally chose the main crown jewel of the Station District and the city as a whole, one of the markers of my city's skyline. The building below will be the tallest in the city, and will be one of the main highlights of this "Densified Suburb?" (Idk what to call this vision for this city of mine)
You can see the contrast with the San Francisco-Victorian Architecture that I specifically used because I'm building a SF Bay Area City. The Old Town and its Victorian Buildings (with sprinkles of modern and 20th century architecture), and its contrast with the wholly contemporary architecture of the Station District next to it
Oh Im planning to finally deep dive into detailing the old town, gonna add sidewalk trees, thank god for IMT, making that easier
I have begun detailing the old town, hoping to get it fully done over the next hour and thirty minutes
I decided the trees looked wayy too perfect, and after playing around figured out how to vary the tree sizes
Will do once I finish Station District Proper and the Old Town though it'll only be of those two areas cuz everything South of it still has major detailing work needed, and way more building work to put down
I did take a break from detailing the Old Town to build this Crosswalk South of the Station District (I think Im gonna call it Station South)
Street Trees have been placed everywhere I can do so right now (since Im still working on where the other Light Rail line is gonna go which means Im leaving two major streets with no Street Trees). Picture below basically illustrates how it looks across the neighborhood (with just as much variety)
Im not done with some of them, but here's some more pictures of the (very Unfinished detail-wise) protected bike network for the part of the city im working on (Station District and Surrounding Area)
Now I know the protection is very cookie cutter, limitation with IMT, but curbs are the best form of protection anyway, and making them cookie cutter would save a lot of money in real life, so I'll just have to differentiate with vegetation 😛
Oh and dont worry, the Bike Network is supplemented by unprotected bike lanes on slower residential streets that connect to the Main Road (Or they are protected by parking)
Love it
I play on console (vanilla only) so for bike infrastructure I use the default bikelane roads and elevated bike highways
As you can see here https://discord.com/channels/263634513861541888/1097983286875271249
Yeah which is pretty good enough
Yeah
The best way to do separated bike lanes is to have the “bike path” alongside a road
And it will join automatically
Worked on Station District and its various neighborhoods today, but essentially added like 1000-2000 new Housing Units, did some detailing and planning, turned out pretty good imo. The gaps are slowly filling in Station District
Last Picture is the view from one of the top floor units in the only High Rise not in the Station District
It offers a godly view of Station District
My goal is to completely detail station district once I finish filling it in and finish Old Union City
very nice!
Thank you!
I reset all my traffic due to some major changes I made, and I found this massive Horde of around ~500+ People just coming out of my station
Restarting this again, as I have more time to work on the city and I need to compile the photos in one place.
Since 2023, I've been working on realistically turning an entire San Francisco Bay Area suburb into a walkable, super-dense city of 342,470 that would essentially serve as a CBD to the wider bay area in CS. I'm building this city with the same Arterial Network as IRL but with biking infrastructure that is near non existent in the US. Same Highways, Same BART Tracks as well. The only changes being made are to the actual street/collector network (outside of some key collectors) and the street network. Certain parts of the City (Like City Hall, Certain Schools) are in the same location as IRL as well. I honestly think you could drive through this city as a local and navigate no issue.
I've even overlaid the CSL Map Viewer Map over Google Earth and the streets and everything aligned near perfectly.
Every part of the city has a story behind why its there to justify its existence, so feel free to ask questions!
Anyways, here some pictures of the Bike Infrastructure I've finished putting into place:
There's a lot of empty space because I haven't decided what to put there, or I haven't gotten around to detailing it fully (Some mod issues meant all the detailing I did went away, so I'm having to redetail huge chunks of the city)
The Whole City from the Hills (You can also see the consequences of my refusal to get a better graphics card haha)
This skyline will change as I slowly buildout the "Midtown" (Name in Progress) Area to the right, especially once I add in the NFL Football Stadium and move the Basketball/Concert Arena. All of Midtown is essentially built on top of University-owned land.
It'll also change as I finish out the Core Station District, All that empty land on the left will be filled in.
