#Oblivion: Remastered
1 messages · Page 5 of 1
is this slimer ._.
'You you're the one from my dreams" camera pans to the most horrid character
WHO UP MANIFESTING THEIR PARADISE
Nightmares*
Anyone else like to make light armor warriros
If I'm doing like a bounty hunter sure
I usually go light armor or just regular clothes for my mage build
clothes are more interesting to look at ._.
The robes do go hard
The dresses in the remaster look prettier
I like fo run around
I'll send a pic of my character later ig
Indeed
Its always good to see other people's avatars in cyrodil
they need to bring back skirts
Morrowind let's you be a femboy i just realized
If ya wanna, sure.
We love to see it
I love the new dlc armor
I should play more, but magic cards are addictive
It’s just racist stereotyping.
Oblivion has a LOT of that.
It’s a way to demonstrate the casual racism of the Imperials.
I intended to be a light armour stealth magix character only to never use magic until level 20+.

I tagged block as major but I'm barly using it
Is there any way to knock down enemies now like in the original.
Just lemme finish Knights of the Nine real quick and I'll send my avatar ig
Sad there's no knight of the nine ahivements
I normally do the nine dlc after thieves and dark brotherhood bc of the infamy reset
I’m doing it during the MQ as kind of an intermission section.
It’s what my Hero is doing whilst Martin deciphers things.
I'm saving Martin rn just took me to level ten
I need some space
A random chorrol gurad is attacking Martin
I'm allready planning my 2nd run lol
I'm no where near finished with my character yet tho I just like to plan ahead
@green bane
ver nice
Has anyone got chillrend yet?
ye
How cool does it look
so cool it's hot
I'm 100% using it on my next character
Classic.
Can confirm its very effective at higher level content.
Open with a power attack to boost the damage of your regular strikes and enemies melt.
I think that's the main issue with Hatreds Soul.
It doesn't inflict a weakness to fire.
Might make a spell to use alongside it for that purpose.
Plan to make a weakness to all elements (besides poison) spell to use alongside the level 30 wizards fury I'll get from mage's guild.
Weakness to posion is mid sense no posion spells
I found a staff that inflicts weakness to everything at 100% on a lich.

Definitely not going to lug that around.
After I get marksman to level 100 I may just dump the boy and focus on magic.
Even though I'm atronach I'll be fine for magicka.
https://youtu.be/dp7iI64dKsg?si=A9bBFITWBPQ2eVBE they be remaking everything
They did the imperial gurad song but it proabbly falls under shit post
I kinda like how these new questlines tell us how deep and big the Mithic Dawn cult is. its everywhere.
I wish it wasn’t a shortsword.
Gonna try out vanilla Skyrim because I genuinely forgot what it was like
TES1 had a spell that let you destroy walls.
Yeah, but my build is focused on STR so shortswords are less useful.
I love Chillrend, so I’m jealous.
dude. "i'm just gonna install a graphics update" turned into 72 so far ..
Oh god I forgot this was how Skyrim starts
Actually this gon be a good time to compare how good the Oblivion Remaster is compared to the previous game that came out
Fuck
It's like a goddamn rickroll you can't avoid
I mean it's not terrible.
You shouldn't get Chillrend until level 25 so you should be able to get both Strength and Agility maxed by then.
yeah do an rp run not a minmax one 😄
I don’t have any reason to increase Agility.
I usually have alternate start mods
Yes you do.
Agility reduces your ability to be staggered.
I’m not too concerned about being staggered.
You should be.
This magic casting is definitely more enjoyable than Oblivion's
There are enemies later on that can stunlock.
Oblivion is better for hybrid magic builds than pure magic imo
Skyrim is the mix of both, as in Oblivion you could use both at once, and in Morrowind it was one or the other and you needed to swap
Skyrim you can have magic in one hand, sword in the other
Haven't tried morrowind yet if I'm being truthful
Though I've heard good things about it's magic
Magic in Morrowind is mych more interesting
You have cooler spells
Like Levitate
And Mark and Recall
And ALMSIVI Intervention
One of the strongest enemies in og oblivion was a rat.
And Divine Intervention
Casually presses ` and types in "tcl"

This was like that but without commands
And without the disabled collision
Mark and recall uses fast travel
So do the two intervention spells
Kinda sounds like some shit from WoW
It teleports you to the nearest Tribunal shrine
Divine Intervention sends you to the nearest Imperial Cult shrine
Dash did you fall asleep in VC earlier?
It's the names of the tribunal but as one word.
Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec.
Vivec
Ayem, Seht, and Vehk
I'm surprised that there's no dialogue about the deaths of Sotha Sil and Almalexia in Oblivion.
It was only six years ago, and that's a big fucking event.
Nobody cares I guess
Empire is probably happy about it tbh
Means they can crack down on Morrowind
As they don't have living gods to deal with anymore
I just realized, there aren't any kids in Oblivion, are there?
Like a century into 4th era, right?
Fallout 3 was the first BGS game to have children.
Red Year happened early in the 4th Era
It took me seeing one kid in Skyrim to realize this lmao
4E 05 was the year Red Mountain erupted because Baar Dau fell
Aka 5 years after Morrowind
I mean Oblivion
So Vivec vanished 11 years after Morrowind.
It's possible he's hiding somewhere in Oblivion.
Maybe
If Vivec shows up in Tamriel again the Dunmer will be pissed.
His disappearance lead to what's basically the destruction of their homeland.
Well he hold them hostage to Godhood
Wait, Vivec vanished before the red year.
Because they started sacrificing souls to hold the meteor in the sky.
Yeah
The three were huge cowards
Most believe he vanished just after Morrowind
They were too afraid of Dagoth Ur, so they just gave Morrowind to the Empire
And then gave Tiber and the gang the Numidium
The fact that ESO shows us that they knew he was coming back and did fuck all to prepare for it.
Well the third guy was dead for how long bro looks a bit rotted
Sotha Sil?
Yeah
He was mostly mechanical by that point tbh
I'm pretty sure Almalexia murdered him shortly after the heart was destroyed.
But uh, I don't think he was dead that long
That's why she went nuts.
Sotha Sil is definitely the best of the three
Especially when you talk to him in ESO
Very interesting character
I need to buy Clockwork
Bro needs some milk
Him in ESO btw
He's basically a husk at the point of morrowind
Guessing bro got addicted to dwemmer tech or something
Idrk the full of his lore tbh
I need to play the expansion
But uh, he has a city on a table where he hangs out
Vicvic the most evil god?
Of the three? I argue Almalexia was the least good
Vivec holds an entire city hostage that worships him.
Vicvic forced his pepole to worpship him or die
Almalexia is a bitch.
I think Almalexia was probably the best ‘god’ of the bunch until Dagoth Ur woke up.
She was incredibly egotistical regardless, but she was loving in the way people would expect a god to be. She snapped when Dagoth Ur woke up though. His awakening allowed her ego to shine through unfiltered by sanity.
Didn't Sotha Sil prevent the Daedra from doing bs
Sotha Sil was disinterested in doing anything for the Dunmer outside of Clockwork City though.
Maybe he was the most ‘good’ of the bunch, but he was far from the best god.
He was a nerd, lol.
Time to continue Renji’s pilgrimage and get distracted by every dungeon!
How much gold have you guys managed to hoard up so far? I’m only at 52k right now
Just reached 150k
I gotta start hoarding gold
43k, but I don’t go to merchants that much.
I’m always running to the merchants, I keep taking everything off of the slain
I have 500 carry weight, so i just kind of forget sometimes.
Levitate in morrowind was very cool but they also built the game around levitation, like there's tonnes of really cool hidden gear in places only accessible with levitate, where as if they had it just to have now there wouldn't really be a point unless they also made stuff only accessible by levitation
Aw damn, ok I gotta wait for a steam sale for skyrim
Gamepass version doesn't like script extenders
I didn't realize this until someone pointed it out
The remaster don't got the quickloot window
Holy
Good I like when it stops time in the menu
400k+.
Without cheating for it.
The trick is to always push your limits with how much you sell stuff for.
Well I buy repair hammers
I buy spells and potions.
I make potions
But yeah, I sell stuff at 76% of its value now.
I don't use magic except this absorb HP for 30pts touch spell
Nice
I also don't really use magic much besides Heal Superior Wounds and Soul Trap.
I'm just collecting spells because I can't remember which spell merchants are at regular risk of dying.
I think...Bruma Mages Guild gets wiped out?
Only other way it to get lucky with spell tomes
Whould have the thamlor whipe out the knights of the nine?
Probably not. It probably fell apart after the Divine Crusader disappeared.
Well they'd fight for the right to worpship talos if they were still around
It whould be Hella ironic to use the razor to destory the mythic dawm
Dagon would love it though.
no archery?
nice
Yeah but I can backstab and make paralyze poisons
Or you can just use the spell and save the inventory space for loot.
Since I doubt you'll be prioritizing strength early on.
As expected of a nord.
Picture a nord wanting to go to sovingrade but you cast soul trap
I used Umbra to fight all of them
@green bane how's this dunmer look?
Thats vanilla? They fixed up the hairs
Mostly
I changed facial and body textures to make em s m o o t h
Gonna turn her into a Vampire
Level 31 will see all of the stats I care about maxed.
Still no Mundane Ring though.

My ascension is denied.
I probably won't get it until I do mq.
Level 7 one more level to max out agility and dpred
One of the Camerons is guaranteed to drop one at a high enough level.
Mudnane ring is just a better ring of namira
Unless you wanna be immune to magic for lols
I just maxed out agility and speed so I quess I'll chould max out endurance and strength next
Sounds fun
And I'll put the two remaining points into personality
Anyone else notice the arena outfits bugging out on yellow teams ones and showing half blue
Can't say I have
Isnt the Rament of Valor unique in color
Yea
Could just be its updated look, I dunno, I dont wear my rament of valor at all
When i fight yellow team they're outfits are fully yellow but when I go close it turns into the half yellow and blue
Thats funny lol
By Azura, she’s so pretty.
Out in the daylight
Also FSR got some weird thing going with shadows
They're all fuzzy
Some flickering dark spots inside shadows
I might try out XeSS
Im doing the Ultimate heist and I cant sit in the chair
Time to deal with some spies!
Had to go back 2 hours but I got the scroll
Saw this online. Damn.
The grumpy old troll who lives under the bridge offed himself
The arena just glitched out for me
Quess i won't be beating that on my playthourgh lol
They fixed glass armors first major problem but I feel like it's still to much green
Nah.
It was neon green in the og it atleast looks like something
I mean they chould have done it like morrowind
Morrowind glass armor designs do kick ass
I can't complete arena questline
Whys that
He says it's the wrong time when it isent
I guess I'm not being the grand champion in this run
Skywind and Skyblivion glass armors
Skyblivion has some amazing designs and then it has… that sometimes.
I mean, compare it to what they upgraded from
mountain dew armor lmao
I genuinely like the original version more. Remastered is better than both though.
The Remastered Glass is better than Skyblivion.
That looks like metal.
And Skywind is a downgrade from Morrowind's.
Are they removing the beast race full helment lock in skywind
Glass should not look like metal.
Nooooo I love it now
Ngl I love the way this looks too
They seem to have made it more blue like the Skyrim glass armor now
True, the skyblivion one looks more like malachite or obsidian
I still don't understand the recipe in Skyrim.
Glass is a mineral that can be mined.
Just give us a glass mine out on the border with Morrowind.
Then make the armour out of that.
Malachite and Moonstone?!
Moonstone is probably the metal part holding the glass in place, especially in skyrim
Probably made from glass and silver in oblivion
Is this some kind of Skyrim/ESO retcon?
Yeah, malachite is a type of mineral we get copper from.
I don't think it has to be a retcon
Because if you think of it like this, glass ore only available in morrowind, well morrowind isn't in the empire anymore or at least is basically a wasteland now so probably no one making glass mines anymore so the high elves can't get real glass ore so they substitute it for the malachite to keep the green
Fair enough.
Malachite is the name of the volcanic crystal in TES.
The reason Skyrim uses moonstone is because that’s how the Altmer make their armor. The malachite is decorative. The moonstone is what makes it sturdy.
Dunmer glass armor is different from Altmer glass armor, which is what we see in Skyrim!
You mean Oblivion?
No, Oblivion isn’t Altmer glass armor.
Morrowind has Dunmer Glass.
Oblivion is Dunmer glass used in an Imperial armor style.
Probably
Shivering isles is cool, makes me think this is similar to how a morrowind remaster would look since it has big mushrooms too
It definitely is, even if that wasn’t the intention at the time. Skyrim and ESO have established that Dunmeri glass is greener than Altmeri glass, even if the source material itself is the same.
The Altmer may have created the process but the Dunmer seem to have perfected it.
I don’t think the Altmer created the process.
Oh, wait, they did.
I forgot Light Armor Forging says that.
Did you read that book, can't remember the name but talks about the war between the empire and the elves and describing entire legions of elves wearing ebony and daedric armor
And the high elves made pacts with daedric lords too so they had legion's of daedric monsters to fight alongside them
Book is probably named after the war I just can't remember the name, pretty sure it's only in Skyrim
Oh, the Orc smith in Morrowind says this too:
glass
“These light and elegant weapons of High Elven design feature extravagant use of rare metals and cutting edges made from rare crystalline materials. Duelists and assassins appreciate the delicate balance and sinister sharpness of glass weapons.”
Ewww elf armor
My naming skills are top notch. =)
Only 100% durability?
Yeah, I don’t power level anything.
Thats how I name my stuff too sometimes
You don't need to power love armourer.
But if you're constantly repairing it'll increase pretty fast.
I have no idea what just happened. I showed up in Kvatch to ask Savlian Matius for assistance with Bruma, and a huge fight between high level Daedra and the surviving guards was occurring. All of them except for Savlian died.
(Tierra survived too because she was vibing in the chapel.)
Mine is at 53 right now.
Got my mercantile up to 100 last night, all my looting has paid off, got 168k
What will I need that much gold for? Absolutely nothing, but hey why not
The daedra respawn outside of the castle.
Ahh.
I don't remmber that in the og
I don't think it was.
Just something I noticed when I was walking around looking at destroyed Kvatch.
I just see Savlian getting royally fucked by like four Xivilai, a Daedroth, and a Spider Daedra.
Remaster got some new game braking glitchs aswell
Nah.
The arena questline can bug out and no longer work
230k lol
Mercantile and looting is broken.
No need to use glitches to get gold.
I'm almost at 600k.
Yeah it’s absolutely insane
Level 24 finally looking like a true Colovian Warlord
Looks fine
Decided to go back and make what I did in my childhood a breaton based off my self
Looks good to me
Looksmaxxing
Think I did a good job at replicating my skyrim character
You did better than I could have!
I think alot of people are going to recreate their skyrim characters tbh
Obilvon creater so good
Besides. My headcanon is my hero of kvach is actually just the dragonborn
Since elves live very long
It wouldn't make sense tho cuz... why would my character be arrested by the imperials at the beginning of skyrim if he stopped Merus dagon?
The thamlor
Tru
My headcanon also goes that he fought on the side of the dominion
Also. I've only just broke the game 5 hours in.
How lmao?
Since minor skills level you up now I just kept persuading everyone
Then. I used the very simple dupe glitch to get 185 repair hammers
Which I can either sell for profit and level up merchantile
Or repair my armour to level up armourer
I got all spells as major skills becides illusion idk if that's a good idea but
This time. I'm not going to kill everyone
Its what I did in the original and it broke alot of quests
But I did kill one gaurd to get the dark brotherhood quest started
I chesse starting the brotherhood
🙏 I did not get hit with the gamebreaking bug, thankfully.
I have so I'm making a new guy gonna try something new
Could do alteration for mage armor
If I do a quest low level and then turn it in later level do I get the higher level reward
I finished the main quest. Rest in peace, ||Martin Septim.||
The game is 18 years old dude.
This is a spoiler forum, dude.
It's still nice for pepole who haven't played
It’s a basic courtesy for anyone who has never played Oblivion until now.
I only started properly playing it around 2 or three years ago 😼

I gave my breaton a argoigan name
We're they raised by lizahomies?
I could see them being like: Oh, it's Dry-Skin.
"Dryskin, got it."
"Oh, no, it's Dry. Skin."
"... yeah, Dryskin."
"No, no... I-"
Allso
Seeing the remaster makes me realise how good NordwarUA is.
Dang his models are top notch!
I think he did a better Legion set then virtuous. Looks like a perfect recreation
Lmao "you should speak to Sabine Laul, who is super smart and pretty and kind and really cool..."
Feelz bad for the grey prince
Yeah something tells me Kvatch needs more aid than Bruma at this point
Looks like Mankar decided to open the great gate here, I don’t remember this massive hellspawn outside Kvatch as a kid for this quest but I never really did do it back then
lol just killed em all no issue, based level 24 big time major skills
Yes, the Great Gates exist to destroy and beseige cities and with several smaller gates.
It wasn't just the small gate outside of the city gate that opened in Kvatch.
The others closed once the city fell.
Yeah I know that, I’m on the aid for Bruma quest and don’t recall ever seeing such a big horde outside the castle when seeking aid from Kvatch
I think there's a bug that causes the daedra outside of the castle to respawn.
Bro said he has a few men to spare his whole detail is dead LOL
He better be a well practiced necromancer
What in the world is my game smoking?
Dagon had enough of your shit lmfao.
He must’ve, that was an insane play
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/UoksadatjFc asmon needs the damn skeleton key

H a t
I’ve been deeply struggling with understanding how lockpicking works but I think I figured it out
Lol
What's a good dadric item to give u0
Sanguine staff for me
There's the hammer from the orc dude
Volendrung?
Skeleton Key.
Yeah
Voldendrung is actually pretty dope
Skeleton key is goated tho
It's useless.
The sanguine staff is pretty meh
Either learn to lockpick or do the glitch to quickly level it.
Goated for sure
Both are easy enough.
Security at max is faster than spamming auto attempt with the skeleton key.
auto attempt is based on luck etc
Depends on the character for me, honestly. Not every character I play is willing to associate with all of the Princes. This character gave up Spellbreaker because he couldn’t resist helping the frozen worshippers.
I swear to God if the Thieves Guild stole from Nocturnal again in TES6.
It was a cool idea in obilvon
Gave up ring of the khajitt
They ever gonna fix this busted ass difficulty scaling
Gon take a bit of a break from the remaster, played nearly 200 hours in less than 2 weeks of release and now I'm burnt out oof
Skill issue on the Khajiit's part ngl.
🤫
stylin
As a first time player, I suck royally at lockpicking
Ebony blade til I get goldbrand
The Order of the Hour armor has such a beautiful design.
Erm.
Nab the skeleton key and you'll be fine 😼
lol did you see what happened to me the other day
#1364278291279646760 message
Just... ignore why I'm killing people in Skingrad btw...
Nah I get that lol, every once in a while I do the same when I get a bunch of new gear
I’ll save and just go on a rampage and test everything out
The Skeleton Key is genuinely the most useless daedric artifact in the game.
😾
I've been doing that alot to test combat. And so far yes. This game definitely seems easier than the original.
Bows are so easy to use.
I got my blade and heavy armor to 100 and I’m just slicing through everything like butter
Level 24
It's the truth.
Gold is so much easier to get too the mercantile system is easy to goof
I like to duplicate sigil stones
Trying to actually realize when it is the Shade of the Revenant is way fucking harder in this than the original.
You have to stand back like 50-75 meters and look up above the altar.
If you're too close you can't see the purple beam of light.
And if you don't look up high enough you'll miss it.
I wasted so much time trying to get Black Soul Gems, man.
Its good to dupe an artifact when Martin sacrifices one
Nah, just sacrifice the skeleton key.
It won't be missed anyways.
It's slower than just having 100 lockpick.
Or actually learning the minigame.
That is one of my goals
It took me a while to even understand how the minigame works, and I think I get it now but I'm still struggling with even average locks
My strategy is literally just try to hit space the very moment the tumbler hits the top
Make sure your pick is still in the little slot, keep push up and make sure the tumbler is touching the lock itself
Or, just spam x with the skeleton key.
Either works.
All I've done so far is clear out the ruin across the river from the sewers exit but will definitely look for the skeleton key at some point
Flase
Vilvarin I think?
I'm a total noob to Oblivion lol
I love how enemies have zero reaction to missed arrows
One ricocheted and bonked a goblin in the face and he was unphased
It used to be the opposite lol
Must have been the wind
Considering you can max out lockpicking in 10 minutes without wasting lockpicks if you're really bad, yeah pretty much worthless.
My coworker told me to watch how my character sprints in 3rd person and I wasn't disappointed
The remake made it even more useless.
Now watch it with a high level character that has both agility and speed maxed.
Yeah
And high athletics.
It looks so great
ZOOM.
Athletics levels so much quicker in this
The new two handed sword animations look so good
I love watching them in first person
Since I've never played OG oblivion, I do keep wondering what things were in the original and what is new
Did the kill mark crosshairs come up when your arrow lands?
Nope
Weakness to weapons on swords and shield on blunt
There's sprinting now lol
Not really combos but the game encourages you to use power attacks to increase the damage of your normal swings.
I figured, even Skyrim doesn't have that, just a sound to indicate that you've hit your target
I've also noticed there's the occasional stab animation between the swings of your blade
Yeah, animations have been added and refined
Found a Unicorn but it’s already dead when I got there. Am I just F’d?
Just grab the horn ig.
Don't sell it though.
I wanted it as a mount
For the Pilgrimage quest do I need to do the quests for each shrine or just discover them?
Imagine a big strong nord warrior with a little Allfiq Khajiit in a backpack on his back that casts magic to support him in combat and peeks out on his shoulder as a cute little talking house cat.
How many people do you think || took the Captain's sword and left the steel sword only to find out they should have picked up the steel sword? ||
A lot of them. XD
Is there a point of the iron shortsword becides completing the set
The Iron Longsword is better than both.
Not if you're a low strength character
Anyone who doesn’t pick up Renault’s katana is a dishonorable cur though. 💅
Chillrend my favorite shortsword
Chillrend my beloved. 💙
Pfft, who needs strength when shortswords are connected to agility now? (Me, help me - I didn’t realize that until way too late.)
Yeah daggers and shortswords are know agility based
Doesn't matter, Strength should still be a stat you increase.
Because carry weight is king.
Things in Oblivion are inherently heavier than you're used to in Skyrim.
Golden saint armor weighs like 200 pounds
Or feather spell
That's a mod.
Looting less won’t make you broke, though it’s not as if you need to be absurdly wealthy for many reasons in Oblivion.
It's not
You can get a set of golden or dark sudcer armor as a quest reward
Level 20+ Golden Saint armor is about 126 units.
Insane, honestly.
Well, I guess it’s not that crazy since it’s a full body armor.
I think it's terrible that people are still trying to recommend the "just wear clothing with shield" bullshit.
It's horrible fucking advice.
Unless you're a dedicated mage.
On the other hand, I’ve done that most of the game and have hardly taken any damage.
Resist Normal Weapons and Resist Magic slays.
"You can get more armour with shield than the max level armour skills."
No, you can't.
Both Amber and Madness hit armour cap.
Which is like 80 or so.
True, but they’re both ugly.
Enchanting all of your clothes with shield means you don't get to enchant it with something actually beneficial.
I like to keep feather clouths on me
Like feather, fortify stamina, fortify health, magicka, reflect, etc.
I wish there was fist clothing becides iron shackles
But yeah, you can max out most of the stats that matter at level 31 or so.
So there's no reason to not increase strength.
Just don't really bother increasing Luck and Personality until last.
You don't need to increase Endurance first anymore either.
A pc who gets 100 endurance early on will have the same amount of health as a pc who gets 100 endurance at level 30 when they get to that level now.
I'm proabbly not cooking with this but
It’d be super useful in Skyrim!
Does magic feel less cool in skyrim even tho there's more stuff like runes wards etc
Both systems have their ups and downs to me.
I prefer the visual of Skyrim’s magic casting system, but I love being able to wield a 2H weapon and still casts spells without having to access a menu!
Plus you can make spells in obilvon
Gonna grab goldbrand
I got 100 allready
My spellsword character ended up being op
Chillrend is the best shortblade unless im missing a weapon
Level 25+ version does the same damage as a Daedric Shortsword
The combat in this game is so boring
Mainly cause the difficulty scaling is trash
Its either 3 shotting everything without dying or everythings a damage sponge and you die in 3 shots
Welcome to obilvon
Honestly, this is an issue that plagues BGS games in general. I think you either love it or hate it.
The original had more difficultly options
It also had more variety to heavy attacks in combat you could use.
All removed unfortunately.
Ya but it is VERY evident in this game
Fallout very hard is no real issue, survival is a fun challenge.
Skyrim difficulty is better than this
Starfield difficulty is a joke
It's what happens when you replace a slider with static options.
I miss having various attack types like Morrowind had.
No ressaon to use the other attack types tho
Difficulty options for this game are: Super Easy, Very Easy, Easy, Damage sponges, Impossible
And fun when you had to fight against them.
All gone in exchange for generic power attack that makes your target take more damage (at least for blade).
On the flip side, the difficulty slider was terrible and was openly complained about for almost two decades. Moving to a difficulty setting with five options wasn’t the right move, but let’s not pretend the former option was good either.
^^^
To be clear, I agree with you that the new difficulty setting is mediocre. I should not have been cutting down enemies as easily as I was on Adept, but the slider was just as equally a miserable experience. The entire approach to difficulty in BGS games needs re-evaluated in my opinion.
Ngl, remove player choice in difficulty entirely. /s
nice
i was finally able to get my horse armor
only to find out , oblivion didnt have mounted combat xD
aww man
They all legged out, homie
I get all the visual glitchs lmao
I have that same issue
oddly , it happens in other games like DD2
i was told its hardware/driver related
but i dont really know
Paid off not being a low level pleb doing the battle for Bruma
Got my sweet Ebony gear and that Escutcheon of Chorrol on permanent display
The Colovian warlord shall stand tall in the north
I think my statue is in Order of the Hour armor. Let me check.
He may or may not have the helmet on because I forget when the trigger is.
Going into battle naked whould be a funny brutal statue
Should've done it is a vampire.
Doesn’t it bug out?
Not really a bug.
It's just a giant copy of your protagonist with a stone texture.
All afflictions present.
I think the Go Fish quest has to be the worst thing I've ever been asked to do in a bethesda game
That farmer can take those scales and shove them up his ass
I killed one slaughterfish, was about to run out of air so I surfaced, and when I plunged again I completely lost the corpse
So I ragequit and said nope
Don't worry the reward is a item that whould have been useful for the quest
Do you like or hate the origin stsyem
I dont really have any feelings towards it
It’s much better than tying physical attribute bonuses to sex.
They had to find some way to incorporate that bonus into character creation, and the origin system is an inoffensive way to accomplish that.
For the best mage build i quess its ewww high elf
I quess it's good to mix things up plus magic crafting is broken
I just love being a lizard boi and lizards don't make the best mages early game
It can be tough to be a magical lizard bro at first yeah
Atleast i can be a male lizard in the remaster and get that sweet willpower bonus
And intelligence
Technically base willpower but males get a 10 reduction
Anyone else get the bug where the necromancer amulet dident spawn in the dresser when becoming the arch mage
Game spawns the bloodworm helment in just fine
At least it’s easier than Morrowind. 😭
Morrowind is so good tho the struggle is worth
10/10 voice acting
Repent your crimes wicked one has zero infamy i only punched one single dude
Maybe don't assault people.
It was just a prank
You think Todd wanted Shaun bean to voice Martian because he watched lord of the rings
Yeah pretty much
And the fact that mithril is in the game
There’s a quest called a knife in the dark which is a chapter from FOTR as well
Mithril is pretty bad ass tho
It's my favorite light armor in obilvon
ES mithril is cool too and has more of an elven feel
The elves of middle earth probably had a decent supply of it back in the second age but really it was a dwarvish find and they pretty much had exclusive rights to it aside from trade deals and stuff
For it was only found in Khazad-Dum in the misty mountains, in middle earth anyway
lol yeah and thankfully TES dwarves are a little more distinct from Tolkien dwarves
Tes dwarfs are nerds
But yeah Tolkien’s influence had a direct impact on pretty much every fantasy depiction and understanding of elves and goblins and dwarves etc
Tes dwarfs casually make God killing weapons because they don't beleive in gods
Beforehand they were goofy woodland critters you’d read about in a brothers Grimm tale
Tolkien Dwarves are more financially greedy whereas ES dwarves are most greedy for knowledge and unorthodox methods in magic and other dabblings both make use of runic languages too, but that’s about where the similarities end
Yeah TES dwarves can lick a big one
I’m an Altmer main usually and I sympathize for my aldmeri cousins of old
Im not a big tes elf fan but damn dwarfs be evil
TES dwarves are also a form of elf whereas in Tolkien’s legendarium they’re a different entity not of Eru Illuvatar, he who holds the fire of creation
Aule made the dwarves in secret and only with Illuvatar’s blessing could the dwarves exist
But only after the elves would awake, would Durin and the seven fathers awake
Like damn
Yeah in most of my Skyrim playthroughs where I play Altmer I pretty much always take up the armor of the ancient Falmer and make it a point to cleanse the chantry as the last piece of Aldmeri history possibly remaining in Skyrim
I do find it funny tho you can find full body sized armor in the dwarf ruins
For the Falmer weren’t too different from the Altmer, similar architectural styles, same pantheon, pretty much the same culture with some slight variances in small things, same parent language naturally, I’d argue if the Falmer still existed in their true form in the 4th era, the Aldmeri dominion would likely extend an invitation to whatever political entity would still remain
The dwarves were actually probably of a similar size to the Altmer and Aldmer, they get the name of dwarves from the giants who easily dwarfed the Dwemer
iirc anyway
There was 2 snow elfs left but I think you kill them both in dawngurad
Gelebor still lives
And is probably the oldest living mortal that we’ve come across
Probably at least 500-1,000 years older than Divayth Fyr
Through some life extending magics probably granted by Auri-El
His brother Vyrthur though yeah is dead, he was slain
The Arch Curate
Divayth Fyr is somewhere around 4000-5000, Gelebor and Vyrthur were likely around 6000 or so years old
I think they were a couple hundred or so years old by the time the Chimer became the Dunmer
They were the gods during the time of eso
Though my timeline is a little shakey it’s been a while since I’ve dove deep into the Meric schisms
Oh are you talking about the Tribunal?
Yeah I was referring to the Falmer not the tribunal
The tribunal I’m not too sure, I haven’t delved much into Dunmeri history aside from the early schisms in which Veloth led the unorthodox folks to Resdayn, or modern day Morrowind
The falmer proabbly were around during the time of the chimmer
And never even saw a dark elf
Yeah they were definitely around, whether or not they’d know of each other is a different thing
And the Falmer likely wouldn’t welcome them
And vice versa
I don't think azura went ape shit and cursed them yet
Yeah I forget when it was that she laid upon the curse
The dummer really have it bad with there gods
Was it the merethic era or early first?
Don't know haven't looked much up on the yearly era
They have it bad but good at the same time, it was their ambition that granted them all their strength, and their ability to say screw you to the Aldmer ways of old resulted in them having a trio of Demi gods, at what cost though, as we can see into the fourth era they get boned pretty hard with the red year and Argonian invasion, maybe that was some form of divine retribution for meddling and going against the conservative ways
They relish in the trials set fourth by the Daedra whereas the Altmer and Bosmer and Falmer didn’t want anything to do with that aside from some outliers here and there
Well did they even want the gods because dident vicvic hold a whole city at ransom for his part for godhood
Yeah idk I feel like most of the chimer could care less or maybe would’ve warned against it, I think Nerevar was the only voice against it amongst the big four, and he ended up getting stabbed
Nerevine killed two of the gods which proabbly what made vicvic disappear causing the eruption of red mountain
But my knowledge on dunmer history is shakey at best, I dedicated most of my lore studies into the more aldmeri cultures of the Altmer, Falmer, and Ayleids
Well the Ayleids are a half and half type deal but most kingdoms still held the aldmeri pantheon in higher regard than Daedra lords
Ayleids wanted to kill all gods or was it just that one dude from the knight of the nine
They were praising the aldmeri gods and then later as the merethic era went on many kingdoms adopted Daedra worship, all kingdoms whether or not they were aedra or Daedra aligning still made extensive use of human slavery though, and they’d make human sacrifices and do twisted experiments in the name of praising a god
Then Saint Alessia would pray to the gods and would receive words from Akatosh to start a rebellion with a half bull guy and then later on the Whitestrake would enter the fray as the champion of the nedes
Slaying elves indiscriminately
Kind of like a Ysgramor of the south
All these early humans love to kill elfs
Yeah, for good reasons at the time, Pelinal did get a little unhinged and his rage knew no bounds in several instances
But he also had some form of clairvoyance and would shout the name Reman in a fit of rage, Cyrod would not know the name Reman until the time of the second empire
So basically they rebelled and they took over what's know the imperial city?
Yeah it would start in the outlying city states, the Ayleids were not a centralized people and governed themselves in what would be best described as a loose confederacy
White Gold Tower was the revered capital, and at the time was the Ayleidic temple of the ancestors
Some Ayleid Lords would show sympathy and sorrow for how they treated the humans, and would side with her during the rebellion, only to be stabbed in the back afterwards
Damn they went French revolution on there asses
The fabled last king of the Ayleids, King Dynar of Nenalata, would flee Northwest into High Rock, ruled by the Direnni Altmer for the most part, and would seek refuge there with his elven cousins, and his martial skill would aid the union of elves in warding off overzealous Alessian encroachers during the battle of Glenumbra Moors
I gotta play some more eso for all da early lore
Yeah it gets kinda crazy
I started with oblivion like 20 years ago so I had a good head start but I’m far from a lorebeard
I really only started delving into the lore with the release of Skyrim, as I was only like 8 when oblivion first came out and I didn’t have the mental capacity to retain such info
I need to read up on argoigans they're my favorite race
Yeah they’re definitely the most intriguing
Vastly different origin story from the other races
They owe their existence to a tree rather than a god
But they treat the tree like a god
And supposedly many Argonians were granted some otherworldly power by the Hist during the oblivion crisis which saw many Argonians charging into oblivion gates to close them themselves in some bestial form
I am the argonian I speak for the trees
Yeah they’re funky and cool
Got boned by the Dunmer for the longest time but they got their revenge after the red year
Did the khajitt play a big role in the rebellion sense they were allso a slave race
I don’t know what of much was going on in Elsewyr at the time, if there even was a Meric presence, but Pelinal’s wrath knew no bounds when it came to slaying a group of Khajiit who looked more elven in appearance due to their sub specie
And of course it’s debated the Khajiit were firstly mer before the intervention of the gods
Looking more akin to Bosmer
This is how they looked in the first game
Yeah that’s where a lot of the lore comes from in regards to the conflicted origin of the Khajiit
The good ol Arena depiction
Have you seen argoigans
Amongst other things I can’t name off the top of my head, you’ll have to ask a Khajiit expert for that
I haven’t nope, I never touched arena or daggerfall, or Morrowind for that matter, I started with oblivion in my youth, and by the time I heard of Morrowind I was in 5th grade and didn’t have the patience to suffer the lack of mechanics in that game vs that of oblivion
I think I played Morrowind for 30 minutes, I left Seyda neen and took a detour to balmora and got mauled by cliff racers, my save was right after I left the prison ship, so I just closed out the game and popped in L4D
Yeah that was a different fur stock as it’s generally regarded as by TES lore folks
The name evades me but it’s a different variant than you see in oblivion, and it’s all dependent on cycles of the moon
The appearance a Khajiit takes
Argonians have no lore ressaon on why they look different quess you chould say what ever the fuck the hist trees wants them to look like I quess
Pretty much
The hist is an enigma even to the more distinguished lore folks
It’s all theory
It’s been elaborated upon in newer titles but it’s still as enigmatic as it ever was
At least as I understand it, but I don’t dabble much in the history of the beast folk or the non culturally aldmeri folk
The sap of the hist tree seems to give the person power from what we saw in obilvon even if that one was tantied
Yeah and it affects non Argonians in a much worse way than it does Argonians
Naturally
I pretty much live in the black marsh of the US so it’s pretty funny when people talk about shit swamplands and unforgiving climates
And strange folk of course
Just this afternoon while visiting my grandparents I watched an alligator stalk a one legged crane in their yard
Got a big pond back there and a nature preserve behind that so it’s a cool backdrop
Floordia the blackmarsh
LotR caused the downfall of the TES series.
Massive retcons were caused by the trilogy.
And it's clear to see between Morrowind and Oblivion.
Cyrodiil was supposed to be a vast jungle until Todd watched FOTR yeah
As said by Michael Kirkbride
And it's why Nord lore was horribly retconned.
Bloodmoon's nords are a good example of what Nords would be like.
Dragonborn dlc tried to bring back some of the old nord stuff but
Hist trees come from the previous kalpa
Idrk what it is besides a different universe that got turned into the new one or some shit
Ya and like wasn't mehrunes Dagon successful in taking over the world in the previous kalpa using the red legion of Dregs
Something like that ye.
Magine being the world super power and then going to being a bottom feeder crab man

So the running theory is actually that both the Bosmer and Khajiit stem from the Ooze, a precursor ‘race’ of shapeshifters. Khajiit were given their feline theme and forms by Azurah, and the Bosmer were given their form by Y’ffre.
Emil Pagliarulo was one of the ones responsible for the loss of the old Nordic pantheon. They almost removed any references to it completely, but some of the old guard fought to keep it around in some manner.
Canvas the castle was a pretty based quest
I enjoyed figuring out who it was by realizing their alibi did not check out with everyone else’s
Hirtel you might think crazy but is actually smart to just ran away
"If you kill me it will be a crime and you'll be rotting in a jail cell" walks outside and has the guards kill them
Bro watchs someone die goes back to sleep
Helpful vampire tip sleeping or resting only advances your vampire stage so if you don't wait or sleep you won't advance your stage
But you also won’t level up!
Rest when you need to and drink
I try to stay in stage 1 or 2
What knows how to kill a vampire very well and all their inherit weaknesses? Other vampires of course
That is true who knows best then another vampire
What race is your vampire again?
Argonian
I got the deepscorn prisoner bug
How do I remove essential status
My altmer vampire in the background like: I'm not even that bad, yo.
She's only essential until the Thieves Guild quest "Ahdarji's Heirloom" is completed.
Time to do the thieves guild
Time for the young Countess to get what she deserves! /hj
I was gonna do it anywas but im gonna rush the line just to end her
We love it
Plus there's alot of || evidence that suggests she falsely imprisons argonians and tortures them in the torture chamber||
My prisoner is bugged so im gonna use him as a skill farm sesne I can no longer feed off him
I can't find her body but I got 1k fine
Just gonna assume I did the job
Dirty ass argonians.
Probably lick their eyeballs.
Is it evil to beat the shit out of my vampire cattle?
I mean… yeah. Having human livestock in general is already evil.
Such an unexpected and pretty quest this was
They got the old glitch where they randomly stand up and can't feed off them so know i just use them to farm skills
Being a vampire has a new downside in the remaster sudden hairloss
Good god the property value in Cheydinhal is almost as bad as my hometown!
No wounder these cities have homeless pepole 15k gold for a empty house
Facts, I haven't even had 1500 gold at any given time in the game so far
I'm constantly broke because I suck at persuasion so I'm bribing everyone
Im to lazy to figure out the minigame
I have a rough idea of how it works, I'm just not good at it

Loot.
Same with lockpicking, the whole reason I went to Cheydinhal was to level up my alteration so I can start using open lock spells
Push your haggling limit.
I guess I'm too early game to know where the good loot is at
I've been haggling a little here and there
I also really need to continue the main quest because I've heard that if I level up too much, things get chaotic as hell really quick
If it looks like it sells for a decent amount, grab it.
Early on only really enchanted stuff is worth grabbing.
Mercantile experience is based on the amount it is sold for.
I'm definitely due for a blade upgrade, I've been using the Debaser for several days now
Better then the old system
I've only been to the Imperial City, Chorrol, and Cheydenhal so far but most of the merchants don't have anything better than what I currently have in terms of equipment
There's a sword you can get in a short quest in the waterfront that drains stamina.
Kind of a side upgrade, but draining stamina is usually a more useful effect.
I'm just hoping to find something with higher damage soon
What level are you?
Level 6, and the debaser's current damage is only 5
Is debaser a shortblade or a longblade
Dwarven weapons should begin spawning at level 6 in the hands of bandits and whatnot.
Shortblade, I got it from the gravedigger dude who lured me into the mauseleum and tried to kill me
Nice, I was wondering when I'd start seeing those
Currently have a fine steel bow, which isn't too bad at this level but hopefully I'll get something better soon as well
Weapons and armours of the same tier appear in different level brackets.
So while dwarven weapons will appear at level 6, armour will not until like level 10.
Elven weapons are like level 9, but armour is like level 15.
That makes sense, I'm guessing it's the next major type above steel?
Yes.
I thought it was sliver then dwavern
Actually I have come across a few silver weapons, but most have the same damage output as my current ones
They are worth more though, so I've taken some just for selling
I never was one for magic when I played skyrim and that wasn't really the plan going into oblivion but I'm starting to see what the hype is about, there are some incredibly useful spells that make me wish I invested more into intelligence at the start
Elven is the highest tier of equipment to spawn in shops, everything after that must be hunted down.
Also they spawn in shops later than they spawn on enemies.
I spammed the protect spell for like 10 minutes straight to get to journeyman alteration just so I can use the open easy lock spell
So dwarven weapons won't be in shops until like level 9.
Oblivion is very much a "hunt down equipment" game.
Marauders spawn with heavy armour, bandits with light.
The leaders tend to have the best stuff available at your level.
I see, well it does help in motivation to go out and fuck up bandits' days
Yep.
I will allwas use mithtil armor even if its not the best
I hope es6 dosent take away more cool lore
Is unarmed any fun i never tried in original or remastered
When im finish with my spellsword I'll do monk run
Dremora and Xivali thinking they all big and bad until a blood starved high elf vampire falls out of a portal to Nirn, gets up and starts punching daedra to death
"Just set him on fire."
Nah. That doesnt work. Hes too fast and he's got elemental resistances from a set of rings.
50 skooma down
Allso wanted to try battlemage I think that's more mage focused then spellsword
Still can't tell what one fits me more lol
Come hang out in my tower, Aura
I like to storm castles Naruto-style
Thats more Leroy Jenkins style tbh
I’m arch mage but I don’t have the master wizard achievement, tried going back and redoing everything, still wouldn’t give it to me.
Did you use console commands ever?
I’m on Xbox
Odd
Arena boots looks like a pain to wear and takeoff
This is a well-known issue. A few of the quests aren't tied to advancements in the normal way, and it is possible to completely skip the rank of Master Wizard.
You can skip asking for master wizard?
Yep! When you come back to Raminus Polis after "Vahtecen's Secret," he offers your next assignment immediately. If you accept it, you skip the advancement to Master Wizard. You have to tell him you're not ready yet and then re-engage in dialogue and select 'Advancement.'
I probably will need to go back and get that at some point in another play through
Surprised we havent gotten any patches yet
Thanks for letting me know I’ll load an old save and get the achievement some time later it’s the last one I need besides all the shivering isle ones
Playing as a breaton spellsword rn but I wanna do a pure mage argogian and im missing my tail
I just want them to add a difficulty between expert and adept
These guys lose a bet or something?
The escut of chorrol or spellbreaker
