From the scene near LAX where she cuts off his head, the pipboy told them the point they need to go is only 20 miles away

A conservative estimate would place shady sands somewhere by Bakersfield

and then the head got taken, she got taken, max found it, took it towards where HE needed to go, it got taken again, and in looking for it he and lucy made there way closer to shady sands

and the time and the place is when you are in a chamaber with a hot guy for at least 45 mins

but nothing adds up because shady sands is not in the middle of a city

I’ll say ncr is good at building and infrastructure, but the background cities and ruins are pre war LA for sure

It’s also implied that Vault 4 was close to Shady Sands as they took in many refugees, and Vault 4 was in the LA metropolitan area

also side point - shady sands needs to be powered by hoover dam right? So it would make sense for it being somewhere nearby LA/Vegas?

The show seems to imply the ncr collapsed after shady sands so I’m feeling like this was meant to be the shady sands we knew despite being in the complete wrong spot

It would have still make sense for the show runners to not namedrop shady sands but just use boneyard or hub

Like assuming that she's been walking 2/3 days and already walked thru a salt flats i'd place her at junktown (area) by the time she meets Max again - then i'd say they travel 2 days north to vault 4? and vault 4 being a half days walk from shady sands?

see to me this shows that we went from medium density in 1950 in LA surroundings to low density in 2000 so i'd maybe estimate that cities outside of LA were more populus

I just wasn't expecting a woman to be giving birth to axolotl babies, had me wondering what was happening, I did like the exploration of what happened to vault 32, the mystery on why people were killing each other and themselves, really played nicely into my obsession with the experimental vaults that were created to test people and how they react

So all I got from the classroom was the fall of shady started around 2277..probably due to food shortages, political instability, external threats etc and eventually ended in a bomb going off. So I don’t see how that ruins any game lore

I personally think the power armor didn't have jetpacks just because of how heavy the costume already is, imagine having a massive jetpack pulling you backwards while trying to walk? that would've been rough

I just figured she hasnt been around very many good potential partners and since she probably received sex education in the vault (they were meant to repopulate the surface) it was no big thing to her especially in “the end of the world.” Maximus on the other hand was raised by the military who probably doesn’t put too much effort into sex education so he was nervous as hell and doesn’t know much.

Anyone else think that blowing up Shady Sands and marginalizing NCR is super lazy writing? It's like they couldn't be bothered with following FO1/FO2/FNV storyline

Not to mention the NCR is huge by 2277. 700k residents. The TV show says Shady Sands has only 30k-ish residents, so I doubt losing one city is going to make the entire thing flop

Looking at the years, FNV is set in 2281 anyway and NCR is still strong. So I guess they tried retconning FNV in the tv show? Pffff...

I like the show so far, but I can't say I'm a fan of Shady Sands being nuked and its location being different in the show. It feels like parts of the games were for nothing now

I'm also shocked that they refused to have a reference to San Francisco being nuked by the Enclave, but decided to destroy the NCR capital

Think of it more as how it will build history. Todd has already hinted towards there being more depth, more story to it all. We get all kinds of gains and losses of major factions, groups, areas in media. Games, movies, etc. It doesnt always mean a loss in the sense of "what was the point". We just have to see what it builds on later, and what it adds to long term lore and canon, and what they can build off to make other interesting turns and development
