#announcements!
i wanna watch the series when it's all out
BUT
Nobody beats my boi Chance Thomas when it comes to LotR-esque music (other than ofc Howard Shore)
Chance Thomas does most of the stuff for LotRO and some older games
Anorien Good Build
Anorien Good Battle 2:19
Anorien Evil Build 4:28
Anorien Evil Battle 6:26
Composed by: Lennie Moore, Chance Thomas
And the only reason I'm watching it bit by bit is because my dad is
i prefer more melodic, so numenor rings better for me haha
funny how high fantasy this feels
compared to asoiaf's music
which, i love btw
I like how multicultural Numenor's feels
Which makes sense since they are like the precursor men
ah ok considering the questionable things i've seen in the lotr show
well images and clips
I mean its not necessarily "good" but its not bad
Looks cool atleast
I've not watched it so far thinking "I wasted this time"
I do like the concept of an early age lotr show
it would be nice if they turn that into a video game though
They were supposed to be making an MMO
But they cancelled it
likely because every game Amazon has made so far has been awful
It’s ok
But it’s too slow
Literally lmao
Yep
I wouldnt mind if they cut out the harfoot stuff
Least interesting part of the series for me
Yeah as intrigued as I am about the Stranger I think that entire thing could just not be there
I just want more orcs
that would be weird
considering LOTR MMO is already a thing
Yeah and ironically now that it got cancelled LotRO has gotten a ton of renewed interest so they revamped their subscription model to be even better and are even getting a graphics rework
(I highly recommend LotRO btw)
Ohh I'll keep that in minmd
Next time I see someone say Galadriel wasnt depicted as a warrior in the books I'm gonna insane
she def was
Yeah
although the level of resting bitch face and angst is debatable
I argued with some a while back that was taking some rando's word that she wasnt a warrior
Never even read the books
You dont get the title orc slayer for nothing
I don’t know if this is some super obvious thing or not, but I feel like the harfoots are like ancient hobbits, before they settled down in the shire, and the stranger is Gandalf coming to fight Sauron, it’d explain why he likes the hobbits so much since he’d owe a debt to them, and would help them find their home in the shire. Also show is pretty good, it’s nice to have something fresh for lotr
Correct
They're based off a real thing from the lore
In the real lore the OG hobbits lived up in that area then migrated down the anduin river eventually getting to the shire
Yes, this is why they are extinct in the LOTR movies, except for Gollum
Oh dang we probably gonna see pre ring smeagol in one of these seasons eventually
This episode was fun
I liked the Adar reveal
No longer friends with Halbrand being sauron supporter
Now a new friendship with Halbrand being the oathbreaker king or a tragic Nazgul
Maybe witch king
Okay well that was cool, we just witnessed the birth of Mordor
Yea wasn't expecting it so early
And the show supposed to have 5 seasons
The CGI in that scene looked a bit out of place. I mean it looked cool, but kinda weird in the lighting
I wonder if there'll be timeskips
Since the Balrog only pops up after the war Iirc
Yea that kinda confused me too
How tf are the dwarves gonna mine that mithril if the balrog is already awake down there
I bet we'll see the creation of the mithril chainmail that Bilbo wears eventually
Harfoots are useless (and hobbit-knockoffs)
Galadriel’s character is terrible
Please fix this show amazon
I have the same complaints but I still love the show
says she’s the protagonist
wants us to like her
“I’m gonna commit genocide” - Galadriel
It was funny when their wagons got lit on fire
Bruh that episode was basically: villager op plz nerf
The only good thing that came out of the harfoots was when Nori's dad said he was gonna brain those women in white
Tbf that is Galadriel
The elves commited genocide against Orcs with her as a leader
I really think those women are balrogs
Why? Is that possible, idk much lore
They show some affinity with fire and have a strange attraction with the stranger
It could be some other species of Maiar that arent the fire spirits
Stranger is most likely a maiar of some sort
If he's Gandalf, Sauron or someone else
I'm really really trying to like the show. I want to like it, but it's definitely lacking in several aspects
Harfoots are hobbit's ancestors
The word probably evolved into hobbit over time
The actual dialogue itself is pretty well written and deep but the story and characters just aren't that great imo
Well, I like Elrond, Nori, and the mystery man from outer space but it's hard to like a lot of the other characters
And the elf guy that's in love with Bronwyn is pretty cool too
Only a few people have good dialogue, the vast majority just suck
I seen a theory that it's the maiar that would eventually become Gandalf, he was sent by the valar to check up on saurons progress and at the end of the series he'll go back to the valar
So that they don't break the lore too hard by saying he's been there since the second age when Gandalf was only around since the third age
They aren’t really knock offs, hobbits are evolved harfoots in a way. Gollum is a harfoot
Just saw the explanation above me as well
I keep reading top to bottom
This new ep was uhh
Certainly an episode
Pretty disappointing for me
It would have been nice to atleast see the elven version of Sauron
Have him transform in Mordor into his full armour or something
Also the Palantir caused the Black Numenoreans to be created?
Its so weird
I think this movie ruins the whole trilogy and distorts the plot. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien is rolling over in his grave.
Tons of foreshadowing throughout the season
That isn't about halbrand so no it wasnt
That message was about the stranger when the show tried to pretend he was sauron
Ah okay
Still weird that the direction they took with him
There was only 1 istar in the 2nd age though and he disappeared after there being nothing written besides a little bit
One of the blue wizards
I think it could still be a blue wizard and this one is gonna be the one that Gandalf gets all his sayings from or some shit
Just saw this but yeah, probably. One of the 2 blue wizards arrived in the 2nd age before the other wizards but there’s like nothing written about them
it's not bad, tbh
i've been watching the first few episodes and i'm now on the fourth
definitely feels different to say, classic lotr
I mean, that makes sense
He's been dead for a while now
I've been rather enjoying the series, on the last episode now and the revelation was pretty neat tbh
I really liked the show
It was funny watching people complain about things missing from the show like females dwarves with beards or ||galadriels husband|| but then they get mentioned in episodes later on
Also yea loved the Mordor reveal, that was honestly a top 3 moment in LOTR cinematography imo
Adar is also just one of the best villains ever in a LOTR media
Dude hates elves and Sauron? Now this gonna be interesting seeing Sauron reclaim his army from him in probably a big orc vs orc battle for dominance
Wonder if they'll have Sauron like controlling orcs the way we do in the shadow of Mordor games
Marking them
I also wonder if the next seasons will focus on the other rings being made, the dwarven and the ones for men
And I assume the last one will be the One Ring
The Halbrand reveal was really neat, as was the Istar
I think that was one of the top moments of the entire season when he banished those wraiths
Yea I also think he's not Gandalf and one of the blue wizards
What bothered me the most was that Galadriel and Elrond are best friends, elf culture is different from ours though
Wdym
well in the movies and books, ||Elrond hooks up with either her daughter or granddaughter (i forget which one) and that's how his daughter is born to later get with Aragorn||
thats why I think it's weird
it's like knowing a dude for 20 years and being best friends just for him to try and hook up with your child
but like i said, elven culture is different from ours
He's basically her brother
She finds him at a young age as an orphan and helps him out
But considering that 20 years goes by in what seems like an instant to the elves they probably don't think about marriage the same way
that makes it worse tbh
yeah thats what i mean, it's different for them, it's still weird though
Yup, what's weirder is that her daughter probably isn't even alive yet in the rings of power series, she still has to find her long lost husband she assumed is dead lol
||technically Aragorn is also related to Arwen (at least in the books, for him it's distant but for her it's just a few generations from the connection)||
altogether, Elves are just weirder due to the age difference
Kinda makes some of them seem like mega groomers lol
yeah lol
Watching this elf grow up from a baby to marry them later on
but anyways, yeah that was my main issue
besides the ||whole Mordor part||
idk why im still covering stuff like this if its not book related
but yeah
overall, I enjoyed it
I did not like this show
It’s a shame that we will never see the Silmarillion
Accurately
I liked the show
But uh
God was there some cringe
The scene when they showed Mordor forming was also really cool
I was not a fan of it
Especially since it’s super inaccurate to what actually happened
Yea I just treat it as fanfic
I read some of the silmirillion texts and watched a lot of videos
Yeah we should have seen morgoth
Also the balrog being shown is so dumb
Galadriel wouldn’t be fighting with a sword either but with song
Hopefully tho that scene with the balrog wasn't like something actually happening but more so them reminding us what's down there
I hope they take the audience feedback for season 2 and not focus so much on the harfoots
Balrog doesn’t come into play until much later
Considering how ignorant the creators are that’s probably not gonna happen
New season is pretty interesting tbh
It changed a pretty crucial detail in the books
Ok
It changed a lot compared to the books but I don't consider the show canon so it doesn't matter to me
