#Steam Extension Question/General Steam Question
62 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I just need to know if the there is a way to check if steam remote play is happening, there is not much more to it.
Like I've told you, there isn't
So again
Unfortunately no one can help you, unless you talk about your problem
So basically, your problem is your problem?
Okay, then there's nothing much else to say here
I always face palm so hard every time I talk to you. it's wild Please stop replying/talking to me. (Frustrated for no reason)
Look, unless you say something specific, no one is going to be able to help you
Being completely honest
A lot of people already don't have their games on Steam, and the people who do, aren't regularly browsing the help channels
Besides me
Unless steam remote play stops your game from running entirely, you can be way more specific
Okay, how about you describe what happens whenever there's a steam remote play going on?
It has to do specifically with steam remote play.
Okay, what happens "specifically" with steam remote play?
What happens if someone starts a steam remote play session
Does it
A: Explode your game
B: Your game inputs break
C: The person joining the remote play is stuck in limbo
D: "Nothing"
E: Something else
Game Input Breaks due to steam remote play.
it did not before, but
The issue can be solved if I can check for it, now that I know I cannot I will just change the project to work otherwise
Well, alright then. If you continue to have problems, feel free to resume posting in here 👍
It's frusturating that Steam was removed from gamemaker
But.. it wasn't?
It's not
The updates to it were just moved to an extension
^ literally, and for many good reasons too
Is it still updated besides just having it match versions?
Yes
because from what I can tell it wsa just moved to a github extension to have opera roll in.
pun sort of intended
As far as I can tell, Opera hasn't done anything with the extension itself sooooooo
It's just GameMaker team working on the extension
interesting
The reason for it is so the extension updates aren't tied to the GameMaker runtime
meaning if there's a bug with the steam extension, it can just be updated or rolled back
Instead of the entire IDE/Runtime
ah
Funny enough I only learned about LTS today
thought we all were using the updated about once a month build of gamemaker
(not the beta)
I have been using this version (red) since it launched
well, before it launched i guess
So with the context you gave
that makes sense
nods yeah, a lot of the core parts of GameMaker are slowly being separated into essentially modules
Steamworks and others being extensions is just one part of the plan
LTS/Monthly/Beta are the currently 3 channels for IDE/Runtime (technically LTS gets betas too, but they are quite rare)
Beta branch broke my stuff too much for me to use, but we arent supposed to use that anyways. I might start using LTS a alot and tell others it exists (because a lot of people dont seem to know LTS exists)
Makes it easier to work with people if everyone is using the same thing
And I am not Xor so I dont need the monthly update
What game have you released to steam?
I had a collab work with a friend of mine, for a small game called F*ck This game.
I am also working on my own Steam title (currently not available but under closed beta in Steam)
(I am literal with the name for the game btw, that is what it's called)
100%! Yeah, LTS is aimed at only getting major features once every 2 years (so everything in Monthly right now, will be available around the end/next year, as said 2 years is approaching)
Otherwise it's all mainly bug fixes and SDK updates.
Interesting
