Mages in the bench used to receive their bonus damdage for getting experience (I believe. I really believe they had been), but it seems it's no longer occurring.
As they're receiving exp they should be getting their dmg buff

Actually, they never got damage from gaining XP on the Bench (but they have double XP, which can lead to some confusion).
Our buff system doesn't handle being in the Bench currently to be able to gain stats. It's something we would like to do in the future but will take a long time for a single effect (two, counting the Sage enchant)
