Some facts from the combat work of the battleship Gangut (also known as the October Revolution) during the Great Patriotic War:
On August 28, 1941, a shrapnel shot from the main guns shot down an enemy reconnaissance balloon over the Kipen-Krasnoye Selo area.
On September 5, 1941, at 11 a.m., the battleship opened fire from its main guns at the advancing enemy troops. The gunners fired at a cluster of German tanks and motorized infantry in the Krasnoye Selo area.
On September 16, 1941, an accident occurred on the ship: during the firing of the main guns, one shell exploded immediately after leaving the barrel. As a result of the explosion, one crew member was killed and three were injured.
On September 18, 1941, the battleship used its guns to suppress two enemy batteries with a caliber of 150 mm and 210 mm.
On April 27, 1942, the Germans made their last attempt to destroy the ships of the Baltic Fleet on the Neva River. At about 7 p.m., 13 dive-bombers managed to break through to the battleship. 25 bombs exploded near the battleship, and it was damaged.
