#Additional Bonuses for the new Crate System

The current crate system is a very good change for the game. However, some active players including myself has raised the concern that once a player has reached Tier 5 crate, or Tier 4 for those holding the battle pass, there is no longer an incentive to keep playing.

This is due to additional crate progress from levelling nations/ opening packs being “wasted” as the crate is already maxed out. This is counterintuitive as the battle pass also provides a 30% national exp bonus and additional missions which incentivise players to keep playing. This goes against the crate because there is no reason to waste crate progress until the next week begins. So players would save packs and national levels for the following week to get optimal crate usage.

Suggestion:

To add bonus crate tiers past Tier 5. These “bonus crates” would serve as additional rewards for the active players that can reach Tier 4/5 as per above. Of course, the rewards should be tuned down for these bonus crates. Perhaps 1 special wc, 2 limited wc and some gold for each bonus crate.

Currently, Legends of Runeterra has the crate system with bonuses past the max tier. Example in screenshot below.

So a player at level 20, would receive the level 13 crate + 7 bonus crates. Similar can be done to Kards to reward players and promote engagement.

Thanks for listening to my TED Talk. Feel free to leave feedback if any!

Legend (for Kards context)
Common = Standard
Rare = Limited
Epic = Special
Champion = Elite

Cards with the gem in the center are random cards from that rarity.

Cards that are fully coloured, ex. Full orange, are wildcards. So full orange = elite wildcard.

This is very true and real

#

More tiers for it would be great, even if the exponential scaling gets a bit ridiculous

humble lily
#

I can go either way

Exponential scaling for better rewards

Or

Reduce the xp needed and fix it for the bonus crates, but reduce the reward

or maybe a repeatable side crate that gives you like 30 gold a pop idk just saying

humble lily
#

Yeah

#

Runeterra fixes it at 4500 xp for every bonus crate after max, but rewards are fixed too

If KARDS is gonna borrow from Legends of Runeterra, then they should have taken full advantage of it instead of half-assing it

Don’t get me wrong, maybe the idea was taken but I don’t think they copied it, nevertheless, I would love this change

Yep. I’m sitting here wanting to open more pack and play more since I maxed my crate out on day 1. It just doesn’t make sense this new system

humble lily
#

If they were to change it that is

#

It could be due to maybe the first week would be their “testing ground” to see how many players actually can get T5, and tune it accordingly

humble lily
#

No point getting T5, since it auto levels

#

But I find myself getting the T5 anyway, so it’s a bit wasted

whole plover
#

honestly I am glad they are making changes. I don't think we should call their attempts half ass

#

each model works for each games. LoR can be much more generous since it is a loss leader, compared to kards

#

anywho new crate is much better and I think we should appreciate it. there are ofcourse flaws when first implemented but I trust 1939 will listen to the community and iron things out

Many years to come

Definitely

#

Hopefully we’ll find some kind of balance

#

Of playing a lot and not

But I do think that a repeating something at the end of scales is a good idea (like 1 repeating tiny crate, repeating 351th lvl etc.)

Ah I didn’t see that, yes 351+ also is a good addition to this

In general, probably something that rewards players for playing more than the average. Nothing too crazy of course, to discourage bots, but as long as hacker detection / bot usage can be detected, it shouldn’t be an issue

This, I approve

A good suggestion, but I suggest some tweaks.

#

the point that frequent participants should be rewarded is very exciting indeed.

#

but there's another sense of achievement comes from accomplishing something.

#

many people get's satisfaction from the mere fact that they "completed every tier" and that's an impressive achievement itself.

#

Too much tiers might attract some frequent player, yet it may have the side effect of tiring out or intimidating average player or players that seeks a sense of completeness.

#

A way to balance those different kinds of players is this; we don't have to design more tiers of creates; if we want to reward the active participance, we may simply design a bar that fills up and offers same rewards every time the player opened enough packages or wined enough games; this bar is accessible after a player reached tier five. So on surface there's still only five tiers -- and those who simply want to get the achievement "filling up all tiers" can reach it and go home. Those who what to participate more can be rewarded as well from this "bar" system as well -- without stressing everyone else out with too much tires to fill.

whole plover
#

that's what everyone said. a sort of side crate that takes up excess xp gain

opal ocean
#

yep but the analogy he's making concerns me a little

#

imagin every month there's eleven tiers waiting to fill

#

I would delete this game right away

humble lily
#

Rewards also to be very small compared to the elite crate

#

It’s just meant to be a small bonus for people, not actually another tier that people need to have

#

Like in runeterra, the normal max is 13, which is similar to our T5 crate. But they have additional bonus levels for those who keep getting xp. What I’m suggesting is to implement something similar here

#

Because as of now, I have not opened any of my preorder officer packs, and have additional 7 packs on top of that from draft and national progress.

So now there’s 21 packs sitting there, with no purpose to open, as I will be wasting xp if I open them this week. (I’m at T5 now).

So this is actually the opposite of what a company wants, which is people not playing the game because of optimising a system that they themself created.

#

If we had additional bonus past T5, I would maybe open them knowing that I can get these bonus crates. But sadly I’ll just be waiting for next week, open maybe 3 packs, and keep the rest again for the following week

#

Same with most other active players here

I like this idea - like rn I have a full bar from opening packs and I wish there was a overfill crate that you open end of the month

I love runeterra
