The current crate system is a very good change for the game. However, some active players including myself has raised the concern that once a player has reached Tier 5 crate, or Tier 4 for those holding the battle pass, there is no longer an incentive to keep playing.
This is due to additional crate progress from levelling nations/ opening packs being “wasted” as the crate is already maxed out. This is counterintuitive as the battle pass also provides a 30% national exp bonus and additional missions which incentivise players to keep playing. This goes against the crate because there is no reason to waste crate progress until the next week begins. So players would save packs and national levels for the following week to get optimal crate usage.
Suggestion:
To add bonus crate tiers past Tier 5. These “bonus crates” would serve as additional rewards for the active players that can reach Tier 4/5 as per above. Of course, the rewards should be tuned down for these bonus crates. Perhaps 1 special wc, 2 limited wc and some gold for each bonus crate.
Currently, Legends of Runeterra has the crate system with bonuses past the max tier. Example in screenshot below.
So a player at level 20, would receive the level 13 crate + 7 bonus crates. Similar can be done to Kards to reward players and promote engagement.
Thanks for listening to my TED Talk. Feel free to leave feedback if any!
Legend (for Kards context)
Common = Standard
Rare = Limited
Epic = Special
Champion = Elite
Cards with the gem in the center are random cards from that rarity.
Cards that are fully coloured, ex. Full orange, are wildcards. So full orange = elite wildcard.
