Problem with that is how it doesn't improve your situation by much and requires the opponent to actually deal a ton of damage to face without it killing you

Are you guys insane? For 1k more on mobilize you deal 3 damage to your opponent and heal for an average of probably 6-8. Thats a conservative estimate of the value not considering using order damage increase or the value in increased flexibility as you don’t need to spend the 6k all at once

I think Japan is fine with the AOE it has. All Home Defense needs imo is a slight reduction in cost, also a fighter (like a Zero or a Zeke) instead of a bomber would fit thematically as it would actually defend against enemy bombers. The Aichi is a liability more often than not, dies the turn after you played Home Defence.
