These look insanely good! Do they freeze and reheat on the camp skillet easily?
YES we heated a few at a time. Kept them covered with tinfoil for even reheat
Adding to the list, EXACTLY what I came here for ❤
I've said it before BUT I'LL SAY IT AGAIN
BURRITOS
Two days before the fest, make each burrito and individually wrap in nonstick grill aluminum foil. I vacuum seal them in freezer bags so that no water can get through the bag. You just have to cut it off before the vacuum sealer crushes your burrito. Toss em in the freezer for a couple days and they'll be frozen enough to survive the fest. You can portion them differently, but I wrap each one in foil so you can rotate to get the outsides a little crispy on each side. Toss it on your camp stove until its ready and you have zero dishes as far as meal prep goes.
A burrito is whatever you like as long as it has a grain, protein, cheese and is all wrapped in a tortilla so do that, but here's what I do.
Note: I am excluding onions & peppers in all burrito variants because they get soggy by Saturday evening and I haven't figured out which one of the two causes it (I arrive Wednesday at noon so adjust accordingly). Feel free to add to your burrito, but eat it in the first couple days, ideally.
Also, all burritos are wrapped in flour tortillas because even though corn tortillas are better they just don't have the same structural integrity.
Breakfast burrito:
Eggs
Cheese
Bacon (Optional, I usually make a few without to share with the vegetarians of the group)
2025 update - hash browns
Vegetarian burrito:
same as above but swap bacon for bell peppers
Dinner burrito:
Spanish Rice
Black Beans, get dry beans and make them. they'll freeze to be drier which will keep the burrito from getting soggy.
Cheese
Spices (paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic, salt, pepper)
I would add chicken to this if you were going to add a meat
you could totally do like ground beef and pinto beans and different spices or like
steak and peppers (to be eaten before Sunday) or like pork and onions really whatever.
As long as it's a burrito wrapped in foil then it's quick, easy, good, filling, and has no mess to prepare.
What is your favorite burrito?
We brought grapes last year and tbh they were such an odd lifesaver
This should be fine without the vacuum sealer, right? Thinking of using the same plan but just freezing in a gallon ziploc
Yup. I did that the first time doing it. Just have to be more diligent about keeping water out of your cooler or the burritos out of the water
If you do ziplocs do the freezer bags too which will help keep water out a bit more than regular gallon bags
I remember when I went to bonnaroo we would cook our burritos on the hood of our car. So damn hot!
Somebody brought burgers in blueberry and I cried bc I was living on uncrustables and beef jerky
Tacos!! Prep the meat at home, throw it in a leftover container, and reheat on the camp stove. Bring whatever taco toppings you want and BOOM dinner
This thread is a great idea!!
How do people handle their dirty dishwater? I generally camp with a couple of collapsible tote bins for washing/soaking with biodegradable soap and then toss the water into the woods away from camp but… not so much an option in close quarters like EF
Unfortunately not much to do with it except toss it in the "road" or under your car
Also deluxe Mac and cheese mixes that have the cheese already made are clutch. You can throw in canned chicken or tuna to make it even heftier. Sooo easy
Oh we were planning on bringing instant pho with fixins for that like lime and maybe even like ham lunch meat 😂
Yep just kinda drain it in the center road area in the most considerate space you can find. Most days it’s hot enough to dry pretty quickly
I like to think I’m helping with dust
Honestly you may be 😅
Made a new recipe last night and might put it aside for forest if I can get it to keep okay. It was essentially a pearled couscous and corn elote salad
It was so good
@topaz seal needs this recipe haha
She absolutely does @topaz seal just for you:

I don’t like mayo, and I wanted to add a healthy spin & added protein so I used plain Greek yogurt instead
REAL good. Unexpectedly delish
I’ll report back on how@long it lasts in my fridge. If it will keep at least 4 days I’ll throw it in the Forest meal plan
That’s always my challenge with prepping ahead. I need everything to make it through 1.5 days of travel and then 4-5 days of forest
I totally get that. I usually go with frozen burritos, veggie trays, and fruit and then have pb&j for a quick meal here and there and hella snacks and then buy like one meal a day in the fest. Makes cleanup really easy and everything lasts until Sunday
Some kinda pasta salad for the first couple days would be lit too
This sounds SO good thank you!
Stumbled upon this thread!!!
Whooaaaa this is good!!!
Rotisserie chicken ceaser wraps might be a vibe!!
Lemon gave me life last year🤗 and lemon spritzed on grapes 🤤🤤🤤
This might be old news but if you’re an old school Lipton Soup Mix style Onion Dip lover- I bring that but instead of sour cream, I use plain Greek yogurt. Ups the protein and health! Tastes identical. I bring terra chips and veggies for it
lil probiotic help as well
My gf just throws the packet into the sour cream qt and boom instead dip (NFGY sounds like a healthy sub tho :D)
Hahaha yup that’s the true old school way!! Sometimes you just gotta. I’ll admit though the yogurt tastes nearly the same! I add a little water to thin it out tho.
Okay hear me out. Large ziplock. Throw a bunch of mixed liquid IV in there. Lay it flat. Then section off that ish in strips. Freeze them. Lil popsicle sticks

✨ Costco ✨ & 🥥 Coconut Water!
🏬 While most are going to Meijir or Walmart, Costco might have portions with pricing that has a more reasonable cost ratio and variety of options.
🥥 Coconut Water, good nutrients for restoring hydration and replenishing electrolytes.
Oooh I've found my thread - we eat good when we're camping. We have a blackstone which makes some of this stuff easier. I've always wanted try breakfast burritos but usually we do eggs and pancakes. Last year we did chipped beef hash with frozen chipped beef, hash browns and eggs.
This year on the lunch menu we have chicken fried rice. We cook the chicken and rice and freezer seal them. Bring a bag of frozen peas and carrots and we have soy sauce, spices, gochujang and yum yum sauce in our cooking bag.
Kielbasa tortellini & spinach - frozen spinach, frozen tortellini, precut kielbasa. Easy.
Hamburgers are an easy staple.
Our fav meal is butter chicken (mild because we're not tryna get crazy in the porta potties). We make the chicken and rice before hand and just bring a pantry safe packet of butter chicken sauce. We like Passage to India brand from Walmart.
Late night we like to make pizza buns with leftover hamburger buns. Get a squeeze tube of pizza sauce, shredded cheese and pepperoni. We also love grilled cheeses.
10/10 no notes would probably smell your campsite 10 rows away and go 'someone over there is eatin' good in the neighborhood' 😁
though I know we're possibly split over the buns vs tortillas choice.
I am team tortillas, but a camp hamburger is too hard to say no to and would be awful in a tortilla 😅😅
Butter chicken in the forest sounds like it SLAPS
How do you do pb&j without bread tho
Tortilla pb&j does not sound good to me lol
.... I am going to have so much pulled pork. I bought way more than I meant to.
About to vacuum seal and freeze this batch of yuzu japanese bbq pork belly for forest. I ate a slice and istfg it's tender like butter

Yes chef 🤌
