Hi guys!! I’ve been singing for about a year (Im 15, started abt this time last year) and my voice is being EXTREMELY odd at the moment ; my voice already did it’s big drop (Im a baritone) but it’s cracking like,,,, a LOT, as in Im kind of uncomfortable to do some of the high notes in some songs i always love to sing,

my best guess is stress as I have exams coming up, and maybe alongside that because I’ve stopped doing as much physical activity (eg, i havent been walking as much)

My voice is also feeling REALLY unsupported in general when I sing (only when I sing really low does it feel kinda supported), whilst before this week my voice was feeling really supported, I also may be more tired as the school term goes on ; but my voice has NEVER done this before to this calibre, when it did before in a smaller amount it fixed itself decently quickly

idk if this is related but when I do sing the high notes, my voice homestly sounds SO odd ; it sounds like Mongolian throat singing raspy edition and I don’t… get it?? It’s only occurring VERY specifically on a f flat (e5)???!?! And literally any way I approach it it sounds like that.??

Please lmk if theres anything I can do to get my voice back to normal or what it is because I ADORE singing but I honestly am worried to perform or practice in general…

Ey how you doing

#

First I would like to know if you warm up before practicing/singing and how you do it

when you sing that note, you do it with your chest voice or with your head voice?

I always do 1121 (idk how to really write it out), I warm up my minor scales or major scales depending on the song, I do lip trips and constant (depending on the song) sirens and that’s normally it, but depends on the song(s) a lot of the time

#

And it’s like to the further part of my passage

#

Like I normally do struggle to hit that note without putting all my focus onto it preparing, but it’s been EXCEPTIONALLY odd this past week 💔

It’s normally from C3 to what I aim to be the highest note in the song (eg this F flat 5) but if I’m warming up for like a blind audition a lot of the time I just do it to c5

#

I also do those weird octave jump exercises (idk what theyre really called) cause I’ve been practicing a fair bit on quickly going from head voice to chest and my passage but I normally do those separately from warmups

Aaah so you hit that note with your head voice?

How much you practice per week?

ashen frost
#

I aim for 5/6 times a week for abt 20/30m a night

#

Normally around like 9pm

#

I’m doing performance music next year for my last years of schooling, a lot of people have been going since they were like 5 which is why I aim to do a fair bit of practice

#

something wierd happen with your voice before this issue appeared?

#

or you did something new?

ashen frost
#

Nah but I had a growsthpurt recently

#

My best guess would be my voice is changing a bit again cause of hormones

#

But it honestly feels SOOO terrible to be able to normally sing comfortably to being like unstable everywhere except low

peak delta
#

okay it can be that

#

but I recommend you to develop more your head voice and try to find where your passagios are now or are going to be
