Just do vocal exercises
The one I extremely recommended for beginners is straw exercises
Do them with water to prevent tension and strain because the water forces you not to put too much air into the voice since you'll splash yourself a lot into your face and it's pretty easy to tell if you're doing it incorrectly
First do vocal exercises for 5-10 minutes and then sing any song generally and also learn chest register and head register
And btw vocal control is also important especially on the breath because that's how you'll project your own voice
It's pretty easy learning this because it only really requires just controlling the airflow
If you want I can show you how I sing and I'd say they're decent but definitely some parts are inspired by ado vocal technique
If you wanna do rnb runs and have a smooth voice it's all about using low airflow. you can't belt you need to use resoance to project higher
