Just one that I cut short from playing, trying to display my chest and higher range at the end, I've been trying to work on both individually, especially transitioning from/into both as I definitely struggle with that.

Though I'm still unsure of where I stand tonal/pitch wise, ofc there's always room for improvement and I'm only new, but I'm not sure if I sound 'pleasant' to others or not. And I can only find that out via posts like these. So is this a "tone" you could see yourself listening to? (assuming this is your type of music) Anyway, hoping to get any feedback/criticism so I know what I'm doing right or wrong. Thank you.

Ive been listening to a lot of videos from this “feedback” channel and let me tell you, yours is my favourite by far.
Your voice is rlly satisfying to listen to and crisp.
One thing I noticed though , you tend to sing in ,,cursive” , try and pronounce the words a little clearer and work a little on your high notes.
Theres nothing you can’t fix without some training in your voice though.
You literally sound amazing and I can’t wait to hear some more from you. Good job!

Mate, thank you, I wasn’t expecting much praise but that’s the nicest thing anyones said about my voice.

I’ve heard the “cursive” comment once before, I had to look up the meaning. The issue is I sing pretty much the way I speak (British accent) the only thing I do differently is often under enunciate certain vowels and consonants so it’s not as harsh sounding because I dislike using some of my accents pronunciations when singing as I find it unpleasant, which leads to slurring. Hard to control in the moment and I don’t notice it when singing, only in situations like now as I rarely get feedback. It seems a lot of mainstream brits with strong accents are good at toning it down over years of imitation and adopting a sort of ‘neutral’ transatlantic pronunciation that’s easy to understand but I’ve only started singing this year so it’s definitely something I seem to struggle with. Retrospectively I also need to work on placement, my mouth is rarely opened wide enough. Hopefully I can smoothen it out over time. It’s a hard fix when it relies on feedback and others to point out.

I saw you respond to a lot of people looking for feedback, that’s really nice of you, I appreciate the effort and help you’re offering people with really good advice and constructive criticism, I’ll be riding high off your compliment for weeks now, thank you!

I really like your voice! I like the grit it has and the sensitivity it has on the high notes. I would just focus to improve your control since sometimes your voice is a little shaky at times, and at some points lengthen your notes (and pronunciation like the other person said. I think it's fine if you let your British accent slip in every now and then, as long as youre understandable lol)

But I can definetly see myself listening to you singing! :)

And oh yeah, does your voice hurt after you sing? Just curious since you have a grit in your voice, which sounds good, but it's important to breathe correctly while doing it so you don't strain your throat

Hello, thank you! Control is definitely something I need to keep on top of. I don’t have much of it at the moment probably because I’m still quite new. I can definitely feel it’s improved in the last few months though so hopefully it continues. Lengthening notes is a good one! That’s something I tell myself often when listening back to recordings, i feel I rush words a lot especially when playing guitar and singing, I lack some technique there it seems.

My voice doesn’t hurt unless I over sing for a couple hours which I’m terrible for doing, then it goes a bit hoarse, or singing too loud which I always used to do before becoming conscious of it. Though It’s my talking voice that’s bad for me, I have a horrid habit when talking, I believe growing up I lowered my larynx to speak which is now the only way I know how to talk so it strains my voice often if I’m talking a lot.

And I’m always tense, singing or not that’s something I struggle with too, tense shoulders, neck, jaw etc which I know is bad for the voice so I have tried lately to relax and do some loosening exercises before singing to help. Yes, breathing when singing is also another one i trip up on a bit. I never thought I had much ‘grit’ to my voice tbh so I guess that’s good? Assuming it’s not just bad technique haha. I appreciate the kind words, constructive criticism and the confidence boost!

I really admire your dedication and willingness to improve!

Singing and playing guitar is quite difficult, but with practice I'm sure you will improve! And that goes with everything else, just practice :)

Hm for your tense issue, I think it's good that you're aware of it now. I would just do my best to catch yourself being tense and immediately fix it, and hopefully it'll come naturally over time. If your shoulders are tense when singing or just in general, you might be breathing with just your chest, which can strain your throat (meaning that when you breathe, your chest and shoulders rise and you feel tension in your throat) If you have this issue, you should start breathing with your diaphragm. You should feel your stomach inflating when you breathe and no tension in your throat (in my experience, its hard to do this at first, so a tip from me is to take a deep breath like youre about to dive into water and put a hand on your stomach to see if it fills with air) I'm not a professional tho, so take what I say with a grain of salt lmao

Idk, maybe you don't have much of a grit in your voice in general, but I think in comparison to my voice it has more like gritiness(?) Haha

I appreciate that, if there’s one thing im good at it’s not being naturally good at stuff so I have to be disciplined to improve haha. I don’t think it’s a breathing issue causing the tenseness, I do my diaphragmatic breathing exercises daily to make sure I’m engaging my core when singing, as I realise how important that is for improving. The issue I sometimes have is forgetting to breathe enough when I’m singing. It probably doesn’t help that I’m almost always hunched over my guitar when singing songs. I’m sure that doesn’t help the situation, could be a mix of that and maybe an anxious thing idk. Maybe I just need to do some yoga or some shit haha.

I really appreciate your help, if you ever want feedback on any of your stuff if you post, feel free to send to me or @ me I’d always be happy to listen and offer feedback where I can:)
