hello, i left behind auditioning for the solo because i'm not doing super well and have to sing other songs to deal with it
I was thinking it would be nice to do this song with my voice teacher because despite being a guy I can relate heavily to the her frustrations
do you think i'm ready? i sung this without learning the song first and read the lyrics off my phone so i don't actually know the notes lol

#

may i also have advice on my accent, and what southern english accent am i closest to? if i had to guess i'd say it's an estuary accent but i really have no idea

in this version i focus more on support and my diction suffers because of it

Woo boy, I think it's a pretty difficult song, so I commend you for that.

It's good to note that on speaking parts, it's really, really important to have a really wide range for your inflection. This is so that it doesn't sound "monotone," and that even if it's speaking it's still "singing," so to speak. So don't be afraid to exaggerate the inflections, and be a bit more brave in it.

The other important part is the refrain part, especially the jump ("You say" and "I feel" etc.). Try to make the leap smoother. One good tip is to "breathe the highest note" so that you already feel like you're already anticipating the note already.

# frigid oyster well it's just that it seems like my technique sort of stagnates for specific so...

I agree with your teacher. I think that it's best to look for other songs and maybe come back to it once you "forget" the song (maybe in a few years or so).

but also for inflection i just don't know if that will increase it when i speak as well

Do you have a problem with your speaking voice? Speaking is different than singing, and certainly I too sound different when I sing vs. speak. But then, pubic speakers, radio hosts, etc. definitely sound different when they're speaking for the public vs. when they speak interpersonally.

# frigid oyster yeah, my voice is kind of monotone and i don't really know how to fix it, but i ...

As I mentioned before. Public speakers sound different when they're speaking in public vs. personally. I guess it depends if speaking in a monotone way hinders something. But, a good exercise would be a vocal glide from the bottom, top, to bottom again, just to get access to all your range.

i do think maybe it would be good to wait then, i want to eventually get this song really good without having to wait too long, years is too much

Yeah, seems like a good idea.
