As well as breathing techniques
I'm not a teacher but
I have been doing this a long time
I'm not a teacher but I really recommend trying to say the word you want to belt in the most comfortable way as if you're just speaking normally. Let's say the word is 'and.' Then, sustain the word when you say it (don't sing yet, just say it and sustain the word) like 'Aaaaand.'
Now say the word again, in a comfortable note you reach, sustain it while heighten the note gradually. Make sure you're using the same placement when you're just talking normally.
I can belt somewhat
It's like a powerful mixed voice sort of "yelling" projection. It requires good technique and you have to know how to properly balance air flow and resistance. If you push too hard will crack.
Also breaaaath throughhhh your diaghramm.
I highly recommend not pushing your larynx while belting or you could lose your voice permanently
One of my buddies did that lmao
He had to get surgery
Oh damn
damn
This happened to me now I’m raspy af so yes try not to belt if ur not really well prepared for it. I don’t care to sing professionally so idgaf but if you do plan on making a career out of it then yes try to stick to your comfort range unless you get more training on your belts.
Also am I hearing dissonance in that recording or is it just me
