my neck seems to constrict or become thinner when i sing even the not-so-high notes. basically, if the notes in the melody are going up in order, then my throat and neck seems to constrict. i tried focusing all my attention to my belly/abdomen to support but i still feel like im not doing it right. when i inhale, my belly area expands, when i exhale,.it also deflates but it doesn't seem to translate into supporting the notes im singing. all of the notes seems to still come from my throat.
#tried singing in front of a mirror, here's what i found out

Ahhhh, I see what’s going on! As well as the abdomen and the muscles around that region of your body, there are other muscles to be mindful of - when you breathe in, expand your ribs and when you sing keep those ribs out and keep your chest up straight and high!
I would advise you to look into breath support and see if anything works for you - I teach a very straightforward method of breath management and it usually works a charm for people on the first time!
I used to have this problem too 😭 once you learn how to do it it gets so much easier and you’ll be able to do it in your sleep, keep going and don’t give up! You’re almost there! :))
thank you!! I'll keep those things in mind!
yo i might be tripping, but i tried focusing some of my effort on keeping my chest straight and kinda letting my chest area also expand a bit. i suddenly can hit a note that I've been struggling with lmaoo thank youu!
Ooh that’s great to know… congrats on getting that high note! Chest high, ribs expanded is the key. Glad this helped! :))
Regular practise and training those muscles to get stronger is key though😎
