A quick sample of my singing with my phone (with a little reverb and eq added to fit the song better)

I've been practicing singing for two years, scavenging for tips and tricks, and recently I swapped technique (since christmas) and someone on another Discord said I sounded ok but my british is leaking into my singing more.
I can hear it a bit and I'm wondering if its due to this technique swap since before that most of feedback I was getting before the swap, was that I was singing too flat with my chest voice.
I dunno. I struggle with taming my falsetto (into a singable usage anyway since its still at dodgy elmo talking) still so weakness comes into play when I start getting near my B4 peak. I really WANT to sing Take on Me by Aha for instance but absolutely cant. Hahahah

I wish I could afford local lessons but for now I'll happily take any advice on what I'm missing from more experienced singers because I'm probably missing A LOT. 😅 and likely something pretty obvious too.

I do have a proper mic but I wanted to share something still pretty raw and realistic. Not practiced and edited heavily to give a more everyday example of my singing. The next stuff I'll share will be even more raw recordings. (Maybe with the good mic but it needs setting up and prep and sometimes you just want to get on with practicing a song and fire something up on yt)

Also I'd love any ideas on songs to practice too.

I have to give credit where it’s due that’s a tough song you gave it socks and did really well. A lot of tricky intervals and it pushes your range too. Building up your strength with breathing exercises will help with those high notes. Another trick you might be doing already is really using those consonants to help you engage your core and then gives you a little “push” into the high note. Like in this song that /k/ sound in unicorn is perfect to help you with the next high note. And another tip is to not worry about vowels so much when you’re higher in your register. I think you’re kind of doing it already but the corn in unicorn might be a bit easier if you leaned into making it sound more like cawn. It just keeps it all open and makes pitching a bit easier I feel.

As a side note. I wouldn’t worry about your accent showing when you’re singing. If you don’t like how it sounds yourself that’s one thing. But there are plenty of popular British artists that have super strong accents when they sing. It’s a style thing and up to you whether you think it’s a problem.

cheers. Also this is yet another failed attempt at practicing Take on me. lol

Mostly its trying to nail those high notes. My fasletto is so cartoony.

I know you’re working on your high notes but your lower range sounds awesome

Thanks a ton. Here's a recording from the other week I think you'd like if you think my lower mids are good.
