#Jester Things

Though now that I think about it, for this special condition, some shader might be necessary
Note that you need a gender check, at least.
Yeah
I remember the og stat-based shader mod being annoying, but perhaps here it would be handy
If perms are open
Yeah I know people would always turn off the solthas shaders in the combat pack
I keep some of them. Not for magicka.
Soulless Summons Dialogue Fix released
New addition to the Jester Stash.
This mod fixes a minor inconsistency between Telvanni dialogue in "strong souls" topic when using a mod which makes souls of summoned creatures worthless. Dialogue was changed in order to take that into account. Also, two unique NPCs who have things to say on this topic now have unique dialogue entries, with some helpful but immersive gameplay tips and lore-inspired flavour from Darkest Darkness.
Ohh this is such a nice subtle addition
Yeah that's badass. It seems low-key but it's low-key genius, takes a good combo of exp/skill/atr to be able to pull off
I remember someone making a patch for this long long time ago (obv with a bit different dialogue), but I don't know where the hell it is. May be buried somewhere in Oldwind or maybe some patch hub or reupload page on Nexus I don't know about.
Some mods are like that. Up until recently I had a mod installed that added holiday based dialogue to NPCs but now can't find it anywhere
Well, you are in luck, as I'm working on something like this.
I know it's funny I tried to link it when you were first talking about it but realized I can't even find it on my own install anymore ๐
It was relatively bare bones compared to what you've said already anyway
sometimes I think we lost part of MW (Oldwind) history
it's crazy that this can happen in 21st century
Yeah we are moving so fast can't stop to pick up some things ๐คท
There is still a lot of older things on personal storage sites that show up sometimes. Little hidden goldmines. Some new repo will probably get made at some point
would be good
Yeah cant trust it all to nexus
Haha yeah it's pretty rough sometimes
How do you defend against enshittification? Diversify the network I guess is the only way
btw how would you go about it if you wanted to give it a go? Check the mod and provide potential suggestions to the author? Use open perms to create a different version? Or start from scratch?
Probably Blurp's shield surfing code would be a good place to start? ๐ง That's all about momentum, I would love to expand on my silly mollython mod with more dynamic falling over
Really looking forward to the new series next month haha
I hope they get it right. I need I catch up on some anime
@near orchid have you thought about slope-based movement effects or is it sth that doesn't interest you? Have you seen Animated water and hill climb slowdown mod?
Probably going to say something along the lines of "perms are open"
Im joke but there were a lot of ideas left on the table about expanding the mechanic
I'm waiting until I have some cool feedback anims before bringing it up again. But tbfab its some very pretty code that's fun to look at
translation:
You both know me so well
@slate dock what is your opinion on the morrowind extended cut mod on nexus?
I like 36 a lot, and the camonna tong stuff is interesting but I haven't gotten really deep into it. It makes the main quest super long, so I don't think I'll replay it for a while. Tons and tons of content and I haven't really seen most of it
It's all really high quality
Thanks, sounds like its a pretty solid all in one option
Why is creature tweaks archived?
I haven't played it except 36 which is good stuff.
As zsousa13 posted, moved to a separate mod now as it grew too big.
Depends on my mood, probably ๐ฅด
Is the CO.RE (comprehensive rebalance) mod any good in your opinion? I agree with that other guy that said your and mymโs rebalances seem to align with what Iโm looking to set up
There are some good ideas there, but many of the things it does are covered by other mods already. High travel cost, no backwards running etc. is sth that HBFS deals with. Paused menus is done by several mods. For resting and waiting, you may check Wake Up as it does many interesting things and decide what you prefer.
The mod has modular elements, so I guess you can pick and choose.
Some things are a matter of preference. For example, setting enchant recharge rate literally to 0 might be more challenging than having some recharge over time, but personally, I'm not a fan of literally forcing the player to engage with soul trapping and recharging mechanics. It also impacts the way you view magic items (more will be treated as junk) and Enchant skill (it impacts charge per use/strike so it gets an indirect boost with no recharge over time and it's already a strong skill). So while I think that slower recharge-over-time is great (and many mods do this including HBFS in its optional module), no recharge at all is not.
An alternative would be some combo of no recharge over time and recharging added as NPC service, with at least 2 mods adding this. It sounds interesting, but I have no experience with it yet, so don't know how it affects gameplay flow.
Gotcha that makes sense. It does already overlap with some mods I am going to use as well as you pointed out
What about the armor rebalances it does?
Is that good in your opinion / already covered by generally used mods?
I think it's not covered by mods I use. As for alternatives, kildozery has a mod for Evasion, so maybe compare what you like. I haven't tried it out yet, but it's popular and recent.
Thanks!
I thought it was some error, but it seems to be good ๐ . So now there are no adverts? Cool. I have no idea how most of this Nexus stuff works.
No adverts and no 5 second wait to download stuff without premium
Congratulations
Although - they should've made this banner a bit less scary
Ah. Nice QoL.
Someone did a big armor rebalance recently. I forget if it made it to nexus or not but it look pretty good
Yeah it's quite alarming th first time
always encouraging if people vibe with rebalancers/difficulty increasers and immersion stuff and it's mostly what I'm doing
Do you mean the one by Madsuda? https://discord.com/channels/260439894298460160/1505630802384519398
Yeah that's it, you had a look?
congrats, that Menacing Creatures mod definitelly doing numbers
(and rightfully so)
I haven't had time to properly play the game recently, but a short look - looked good
Yeah same here
Looks like it's not on nexus yet
It's extensive at least which is important part because consistency is the thing that's missing most
always the problem with mods which do partial stuff, unless that's the point because you only want to fix the outliers
It is opinionated, but I like the approach @nocturne rain has taken. With light armor being basically "clothing" and medium heavy getting rebalanced
wait they removed light armor armor ratings...? ๐ค
(or just made it ultra low pbly)
ooooh glass armor is medium now
Iirc they wanted medium to be more of a thing
interesting ๐ง
Yeah
wait chitin too lol
Still have to try it but it's an interesting idea
Yeah basically decoupling "armor" from "light"
not a fan tbh. It doesn't always fit the design intent.
light armor in TES doesn't have to mean shit armor
and medium is a thing in the base game. It's often just heavy but with a bit less weight and comparable AR, sometimes even better esp when AR/weight ratio are considered.
Orcish outperform most armors, for example, until you reach the insane tiers like Ebony etc.
Dreugh, Indoril, Adamantium are all good
and there are special (and very good) stuff like Stalhrim and Royal Guard as well
one of the best if not the best in-game armor artifacts - Ebony Mail - is actually medium armor
so I'm not sure I would say that medium armor is bad or sth
its definitelly not bad since PTR imo
took a while but we got there
faaar from bad
No that's not what I said, it's more of the idea that medium armor is "armor" and then heavy and light are specialized variants. I'm not explaining it well but it wasn't that medium is bad
yeah yeah, I don't think the mod is trying to adjust balance imo
just bring another approach/perspective, "change how the game is played" if that makes sense
PTR also adds some much needed additional tiers and more variety for light armor, e.g. Kagouti for those tiers better than Chitin but still much worse than Glass
to improve immersion (imo)
ebonweave
yeah, it's cool. Good drip as well.
true true
TR drip is hard to fault
happy with the comments and endorsements I've received for that mod. Those are also better measures than pure downloads as the count can be misleading depending on the mod type, number of updates, inclusion on modlists etc.
Also, mods like Menacing Creatures are one of my favourite things to do. I switch between dialogue/immersion mode and challenging stuff mode, but when sth affects so many creatures, it's quite high impact for gameplay, and that's quite exciting.
Yeah I kwym, I'm eager to get back to doing some creature animation fixes. I really want to learn how the attack range and hit boxes work
The big issue is bot what to do with light armor, but what to do with unarmoured
It's a really good mod. Feels like it should ba a default for most modlists imo (from what I've experienced so far)
(I remember feeling some of the TR creatures being underwhelming, now that is fixed)
well, that depends. Some modlists avoid making the game too difficult. Depends on the modlist.
I hope that MOMW ones will get a hardcore section one day
because a lot of stuff could be added there
it doesn't feel hardcore imo
Yeah, not quite sure myself
it fits right at home with a huge expansive open world + slowed down levelling + higher faction requirements + improved enemy AI (and sure a few hardcore tweaks here and there -but I don't call these "hardcore", I call them "vanilla exploit" fixes ๐ )
So far i quite like pairing it with the evasion mod that one guy made
I might just nuke unarmoured a la what you did with block and just have the mod be the unarmoured skill
Yes, I know what you mean. I don't consider it a "hardcore" mod myself at all. There are many things which could be done to make the gamer harder that I'm not doing there, e.g. increasing most health pools, but this isn't my goal and we have global tools like HBFS for stuff like that if sb wants. However, reading various questions and responses on some Discord threads, sometimes people are used to some aspects of Vanilla and complain when sth becomes more difficult than it was due to some stuff on the modlists. Not that I care, but modlist authors do, and that's fine. I mean, each modlist is like a certain set of choices. They should be different from each other.
Seeing the recognised mod author banner and immediately going "What the fuck did I do" is a canon event for Nexus mod authors
Was I banned!?!?!?
