If anyone wants to playtest some nifty new spell effects, here you go :) No requirements other than OpenMW 0.51. Magic Window Extender is recommended for better tooltips for Contingency and Pocket spells.

Alacrity (Alteration): Boosts spellcasting speed
Contingency (Mysticism): Prevents death while active, and triggers any additional effects placed below it in the spellmaking window
Pocket (Conjuration): Opens a magical storage unique to the spell or enchanted item, limit of 5 at once
Projection/Greater Projection (Mysticism): Detaches camera from your body; Greater variant has smaller radius but can clip through solid objects
Wild Intervention (Mysticism): Teleports to a random location in a large area

Spells can be purchased from spell merchants with a high enough level in their respective school, or obtained through the command lua nsptomes for testing. All effects are Self-only for performance reasons pending dehardcoded spellcasting.

So cool, the visuals for projection look amazing!

that pocket spell is so cool haha

Really interesting ideas, nice job!

#

You might be interested in implementing touch and target spells with my framework 🙂 #1492962758445109429

#

How does Alacrity work? Does it straighly does anim set speed?

#

Might make some incompatibility issues with other animation mods

Woah

Custom vfx I’m not sure of but morrowind’s and TR’s work fine

misty shell
#

Maybe I don’t know something and could learn something new 😊

#

The framework is leverage of the content system

# misty shell Make yes, what about launching them?

Are you talking about touch and target spells? You can bind different behaviours to different ranges even for a single magic effect. They each have a separate property in content. You can even limit them to only be self, touch or target or prevent them from being enchanted or created from spell creation

misty shell
#

We are not talking about the same thing

#

I know all of this you wrote and I agree, it’s basic content functionality

#

I mean launching them = applying a touch spell or launching a targetted spell bolt

#

Framework lets you do that seamlessly

#

Its not built in to content system

zinc ravine
#

Like this?

misty shell
#

Yeah

zinc ravine
#

Yeah you can do that with content

misty shell
#

Interesting, I couldnt make it work vanilla side by itself without the framework

#

And target spells you have working also?

zinc ravine
#

Timestamp isn’t working ur but you can see target spells he made, Distract is at 1:23 or so

misty shell
#

Yeah now I see it

#

Nice

#

I need to check how it was done then

zinc ravine
#

Blink, Reflect, Banish Daedra, Distract and maybe resartus

misty shell
#

All this fuss and turns out the framework is obsolete 🥵

zinc ravine
#

I think with your framework you can do custom projectiles no?

misty shell
#

You can but apprently you can do the same

#

You can assign effects to content system

#

The vfx and particles and sounds

zinc ravine
#

For example I couldn’t comprehend how to do Skyrim’s candlelight with content but wouldn’t be inconceivable with the lua physics

misty shell
#

I guess thats the only thing now it offers it seems 🥵

#

Will need to refactor the description

It definitely seems more convenient to have the spell just open an inventory but it makes me realize that a pocket dimension spell would be awesome. A unique one as part of like a mage guild quest line that you can get upgrades for to have all alchemy enchanting equipment etc would be so cool

Interesting mod idea. There's something similar in this mod for MWSE: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/49077
Also this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46226

Nexus Mods :: Morrowind

Obtain a spell to teleport to the Astral Pocket, a small pocket realm that a Telvanni wizard has found himself lost in.

Nexus Mods :: Morrowind

Using MWSE Lua & Magicka Expanded, adds a miniquest to obtain a spell to teleport to a Telvanni style player home, with mark-recall like functionality.

Projection is one of the coolest things ive ever seen

@harsh wigeon When casting any projection spell, the visual effects won’t show up sadly. I’m running the 0.51 RC1 build and have post processing enabled in the settings. Any ideas?

Also, where could I edit the base cost for each spell? Couldn’t fin anything in the scripts, though I’m also still new to reading code.
