Millthorpe | UK Town Map

Hey all!

When TM first came out for PC, I decided to make a map to replace Huttondale. And that map was Wappendale, now Millthorpe!

As you have probably never heard of it, I was so displeased with how the map turned out that I abandoned it and carried on with Huttondale, which was then replaced with Wortherton.

Anyway a few months ago I decided I wanted to make a map set in ex-industrial town in the midlands of UK. Somewhere that was built around an industry that died down and the town is now being redeveloped after a period of decline.

I contemplated building a new map, but a couple of days ago I rediscovered Millthorpe and decided to redevelop that!

So here we are, still early days but I'll occasionally update this topic with any goings on. I'll still be working on Wortherton too. Millthorpe is more of a passion project really and i probably won't script it.

Wappendale

Here's some old photos of the main town, Millthorpe. Shows the main shopping centre and mill style houses.

I've repurposed the same building in the photo above and turned it into an old mill. I'm very pleased with how it turned out after some minor additions. The central area will be a plaza/garden

The housing is mostly victorian terraces that you'd usually see in the North of England, some of which even go up the hills - something I'd tried to do in original Wappendale

As you get out of the main town area, the houses are more 1930/50s semi detached. I'm still working on this area but the map is double the size of my other maps so plenty of room to expand! This will be kind of a new town area.

I've completely changed the road layout but I've kept the JG and market cross as is. This JG is the original version of the one in Huttondale - it was designed on this map!

Terrible name isn't it 😆 Google tells me Wappen means coat of arms and Dale is valley - like in all my other maps. I'll definitely change it to somewhere more fitting with the vibe

Millthorpe | UK Town Map

Okay so avoid any relevance with a certain song, I've renamed the map Millthorpe which literally means mill town because there's a mill in the town. Honestly that took at least an hour to think of. Even Cardi would be proud

And because this is set in the UK a wet day on a countryside hill is about 100% likely

I'm back after a little break, so here's an aerial photo showing the recently expanded New Town (left) and the rest of Millthorpe

Quite pleased with this little village petrol station in Millthorpe. This map has much steeper hills then Wortherton so tunnels are required in some cases. This tunnel was already here in the first version of the map but I've made it look like an old railway tunnel that now carries a road through

The tunnel leads to the Owl Valley Shopping Park. This was also from the original version, I've just relandscaped it and change the buildings to brick. Another ex-railway tunnel will lead to another area to right. I'm thinking about adding a converted railway station at the end, as it's on the edge of the map. The old station at Millthorpe is where JG stands
