#Game Updates.

Well I don't see the game holding onto the people that want the classic experience and don't want the game to be massively changed from what they remember. I certainly wouldn't stick around when I may as well just go play helldivers or something because the game I remember isn't that game anymore. I believe a great majority of the people here are obviously here because they loved the game on the Xbox, and once it shifts from that to something else I'm outta here.
That’s quite a narrow mindset. Quite a lot of people are playing the current game with the new updates in it.
Like 40 people is a lot ? The all time peak of this game on steam is 101 people. That's a lot ?
This game isn't going to get updates and become the most played on steam EVER. So at least catering to the only reason people would play this game should be something that gets done imo. Nostalgia.
say there is 40 people who routinely play everyday, or every other day, etc. the majority are not playing based on nostalgia. I, for example, play because I want the game to become even better. certain things should remain untouched, but a lot of things need improved, whether that be through changes or new additions.
people who play for nostalgia last a very short time. catering to those players, who would play for a day or two, so they can satisfy their nostalgic feelings would be silly. the game isn't going to gain popularity again from being just like it was, because those players aren't going to just suddenly all come flooding back. there's a lot of people who have never played this game, that have never even heard of this game, and those players are going to be who help the player base population rise again.
I'd love for every OG player to be happy with how the game is and the direction is going. anyone who truly loves the game though will continue to stick around, or find their way back to it (like I did), and support it. Total Miner will, however, never feel like it once did for me. I am not 10 or 11 anymore. So even if I got on to see dozens of poorly made challenge maps and deathmines begging me to rate 5, it will not quite feel exactly the same. And even if it does a decent job at it, I will probably tire out from it after a couple days.
I don't think anyone on the team has the personal goal of having this be the most played steam game ever. success is different for everyone, obviously. and this game can still be successful, to me, but certainly not by living in the past.
That's why I said it should be an option. They should keep making the game better of course otherwise what's the point. If the like 50-60 year old men working on 7 days to die which has been in early access for like literally 10 years can do it, I'm sure these guys can. Where's the harm in mimicing the original Total Miner Forge on Xbox 360, setting that in stone and making it an available version to rollback to whenever we want, and then continuing on and making the game better or different or whatever word you want to use?
I mean honestly, at any point of this game do we think that people that haven't heard of this game or ever played it are gonna choose to play this over say Minecraft? I highly doubt it. So catering to the nostalgia should be first on the list imo. This game still feels the same to me as of right now but I have my fears that one day I may as well just go back to minecraft and let this one die off. All I'm saying is that at some point OG Total Miner Forge should be saved so that we can experience it's original design from the Xbox that brought us all here whenever we want. New scripts or behaviors I suppose I could handle being in the OG version even if they weren't actually there though I'd prefer they not be there if they aren't supposed to be, but once the game starts massively changing how it looks or adding in tons of new things that we didn't need, I think those really huge changes should be able to be experienced if we choose.
Il will saying going back to older versions isnt a very easy thing to do
Id say try out my Original Redux texture Pack it was made by me. It remakes the classic original to modern standards but keeps what made the classic special
Its in the modding section
I think the source code was lost for the "classic" versions.
Don't they literally have the classic texture pack with the cardboard box shops already built into the game? I don't have a problem with the way the game looks either rn I just don't want to see tons of new content come in and butcher the experience of this game. I just think they should try to mimic the Xbox 360 total Miner and save it. Also I saw a reddit post about saying you can still to this day download Total Miner Forge on the 360 using a USB.
