Questbridge is not only my first project on Total Miner in roughly 6 years, but it also outright nearly the first creative building I have done since then, at all.

Map Details

Players spawn in a simple and small room that allows players to read about the world, its creators, and also see 3 different areas:

The Hall Of Fame
Achievement Check
World Reviews

As of now, players are able to fly. Therefore, in the center of the spawn is a passage to ascend into the grand Questbridge Hub (which will be later filled up, with more purposes and secrets). Beyond that, there is 4 different areas to explore:

Order Of The Dragon And Phoenix: This area is riddled with lava, loaded with with hellish parkour, has a sprinkling of trivia, with a maze and puzzle too.
The Divine Gardens: This area is a glowing display of natural beauty (or.. will be once I decorate more), that focuses on... mazes, but also has a couple puzzles, a parkour, and a trivia.
Ancient Depths: Patterns of glowing water paths, a massive temple, that descends endlessly, and a beautiful statue of its founder. This area is all about puzzles, but like the others--it has a course or two of the rest.
The Enchanted Jungle - A jungle with no trees? Well, of course! It is covered in large mushrooms, all in a fantasy-like land. It focuses on trivia, but of course has some of everything.

Currently, only the first is fully complete, with The Divine Gardens nearing completion (excluding additional detailing). This gives Questbridge 13 fully functioning courses currently.

Players who complete a course are rewarded with a currency that correlates to the area they're in, which will be redeemable for various rewards later. These currency rewards are NOT achievements. That will be a different system entirely. I am always willing to allow others to contribute as well through build donations, so if you have anything that you think could fit then message me about it!

Also, Questbridge is all within a 1024x1024 circle.

I've spent hours on this map! It reminds me of how much I truly loved challenge maps and the game as a whole! The detail, the creativity, and the free roam RPG feel is amazing!

there’s a functioning achievement system now, with 14 of the 50 achievements already available for players to earn.

3 are activated by zones, 2 must be done manually by me, and the other 9 are automatically awarded. if you have completed any course(s) in the past pre-achievements you are able to go to the achievements check section and press a button that’ll automatically check for any earned achievements that aren’t unlocked yet and reward accordingly.

update:

the garden passcode maze difficulty has been slightly reduced, with multiple new walls opened (will alter it further if it is deemed necessary).

the garden maze is now complete and fully functioning. players are to find 5 apples within the course, but "bad apples" are also riddled throughout, which can have bad consequences if a player finds too many. be careful!

the sage puzzle 2 is now open too, but I need players to come in and test it out! I can't always guarantee there aren't multiple solutions / that it is too easy/hard. so please stop by sometime and give it a go!

also, crazytater94 has made a donation to the map, which will be featured in the dragon and phoenix section, so look out for that.

unkempt sage
#

crazytater94's donation. I spent the last 30 minutes or so changing the color scheme and adding some additional roots and some lava paths around it. may work on incorporating lava / fire as well.

by the end of the night, I will also probably post here the world's leading course finishers / most podium placements. a leaderboard for a little fun. I will also work on getting out a set of requirements for hall of fame inclusion.

unkempt sage
#

some player stats, through 7/4/2023 -

most course finishes (15 total as of now):

  1. Tempers - 13
  2. ElFuego - 10
  3. Slaq - 8
    T-4. - ApocalypsePleez - 6
    T-4. - Jeff McNewmen - 6

most podiums (+ 1st places):

T-1. Tempers - 10 (6)
T-1. ElFuego - 10 (4)
T-3. Slaq - 5 (1)
T-3. Jeff McNewmen (5) (1)
5. Ducktober - 3 (2)

*ApocalypsePleez has the only other 1st place, which was the Sage Mastery Maze

Slaq has the most deaths at 195!
Ducktober has flown/walked the most at over 500k blocks! other than me at 3.1 million lol
Tempers, Ducktober, Slaq, Jeff McNewmen, pasta, ElFuego, and galactic_2005 have all spent over 10 hours on the world, so thanks to them for their support / help. many others have spent over 5 and in total almost 20 have an hour or more.

also, the 4th of July saw 11 new unique players join for their first time, the most in a while.

This world has some amazing designs and the challenges are very challenging. They certainly require time and effort to complete them. A very fun challenge course that provides a great experience. I look forward to finishing more of the courses as they develop.

I need to get on again soon and try all the new additions, but they are just coming too quick haha! Awesome map even though I have most deaths 😂

I have a feeling that the newest, and final course addition, to the divine gardens section will not be a fan favorite. it is, in a way, upside down. therefore, players can see the path from the ground, but when they do the maze most of the "roof" is missing. therefore, they must jump around it. none of the jumps are insanely hard, most easy in fact, but every jump is anxiety-filled. turn the wrong way, you have to go all the way around to get to the next ring; go the right way and you're there much quicker, advancing further.

like all courses, the difficulty will shift slightly as players test it out and I receive feedback. I understand this course will be unpleasant for many, as the tiniest slip up is devastating. however, it rewards the second most tokens, so it should be much harder than most. anyway, with this being complete, the garden area now has 4 mazes, 2 puzzles, 1 parkour, and 1 trivia. hope to see some people try them out tomorrow!

this also means I am officially free to decorate and design extra patterns and fill up the area with non-course related things, so I look forward to that.

unkempt sage
#

would like to update everyone on some other additions and clarify on some current features:

achievements:

these are separate from your dragon breath and sage tokens (and future course completion currencies). there will be 50 total, half of which are for completing specific course types for the first time, a course within an area for the first time, mastering an area, etc. then the remaining half are awarded for side courses, finding secret rooms, or completing speed run times.

currently, the world has 22 obtainable achievements. this includes 5, soon to be 6, bonus achievements within the dragon and phoenix section. one is for beating the low gravity parkour within 20 seconds, a second is for making it to the top of the phoenix tree, a third will be for making it inside the dragon. the other 3 are secret achievements, meaning they have no description. they are: 1. Sacrificial Lamb, 2. The Devil's Code, and 3. Great Anthropologist. secret achievements will always be for finding hidden rooms, inputing secret codes, or doing something within a course that wouldn't typically be expected.

furthermore, for anyone who played and beat course pre-achievements: you can go to the achievement check hall at spawn and press the button and it'll automatically award you all achievements that you have rightfully earned. if you are a new player, who happens to beat Jeff McNewmen's mastery maze as your first ever course completion: you will earn, automatically, 3 achievements: one for beating your first mastery, a second for beating your first maze, and another for beating your first divine gardens course. so, don't worry about the overlap. it is accounted for.

I am also working on Hall of Fame eligibility requirements, which should be done soon. the easiest way to make the HOF though, obviously, will to simply beat an entire area / course type, duh.

I will be hosting for the night soon as well, for those who want to join. I will also have more to update on later.

beanstalk. lol I don't mind it, I think it turned out decent, especially considering I don't build that sorta thing usually. will probably place another on the other side somewhere too. need to also add tons of flower builds, design the roof of the mastery maze + its walls, etc. but the area is in a good spot. might also find a way to incooperate a sage statue somewhere in the area, retexture it too even, maybe

unkempt sage
#

there are now two beanstalks. I also worked on adding some hills / elevated areas throughout the terrain. early stages obviously, so if you happen to join while I am working on it tomorrow don't mind how it looks lol it'll be better when I blend it in more and also add flowers all around, which I made 5 of today and can thankfully retexture to make plenty more. might still do another 1 or 2 though for more variety in sizes. there is also now a sage statue, fully retextured to fit the color scheme of the land, at the left-hand side of the entrance to the divine gardens. will provide pictures at some point tomorrow as it all starts to come together more.

I will also be working on getting a hall of fame built tomorrow. I am considering having a hall of fame location within each area, for that area. and then the hall of fame at the spawn be for specific course types. so the divine gardens has their own HOF somewhere in the section, as does the other three, which all have differing requirements for entry. then, the Questbridge halls of fame are for something such as people who beat at least 7 of the 8 for a specific course type (such as mazes or puzzles) or is in all area HOFs. that way the HOF in the spawn doesn't become bloated with sections and also it gives another site to visit in each area.

unkempt sage
#

obviously have made some additions and changed the look of the landscape a lot. hope people like it. it is obviously designed to be viewed as you walk around, not through the air. however, I think it looks decent both ways. feel free to share opinions on it! if anyone has some additions they think would go well with it, I am more than willing to include them.

unkempt sage
#

only other thing I did was start some detailing on the mastery maze roof. still more to do. had to show it in daytime as well, as it isn't properly lit yet. then I will detail the outside of the maze + the hanging maze and be just about done. add some sounds, a few birds, and all is done appearance-wise. then it's just a handful of secret achievements to implement and I am onto the next section, The Enchanted Jungle or Ancient Depths. I haven't decided. will finish the rest of the gardens up tonight and also get the HOF requirements done + built

unkempt sage
unkempt sage

some brief updates:

there are now many more achievements that player's are able to check for in the achievement check area. the HOF rules have been established, for the course type HOFs. the specific area HOF requirements will differ. each area will have their own HOF though, somewhere in the area itself. the course type HOFs are built and the 3 methods of induction are as follows:

  1. Pioneer - for the early day players, those who help test courses, by beating at least the majority of levels, but maybe not almost all of them.
  2. Contributor - this is for players who provide a large contribution to a course type, but also still make it to half of those levels being beat.
  3. Exemplar - players who completed a large majority of levels. this is the standard and most common method of induction.

I have also added some sound + a few birds to the divine gardens are and beyond the HOF I am done with both of the first sections entirely. I am going to start the enchanted jungle tomorrow, trying to get it entirely laid out and the terrain set. I will build some mushrooms, but if anyone has one or some that they've built I would gladly use them. I know their is a pretty beautiful title screenshot with some, so if that person is feeling generous: hit me up haha.

some other things I would love to include and, if possible, would accept through donation:

an upside down cottage
a very large tower, similar to the one in the dragon and phoenix section, but bigger
possibly a wrecked ship, more medieval-ish, not too large

I want the large majority of the building to be done by me, but I also want this to be a community made world in a sense. lastly, if anyone would like to attempt to craft a passcode puzzle or provide trivia questions message me. I have the future trivia categories pretty well set.

update for the night:

got back to work on it today. spent a couple hours doing some stuff, mostly getting the ground set. it's the most dotted ground of all of them and I think it works wonderfully with the purple, pink, cherry metal, and white theme. there are also circular patterns, of various sizes, all throughout it. I would provide pictures, but I want to hold off on that until I can get some of the terrain started and well progressed. there is also a castle in the middle, elevated roughly 30 blocks from the base floor, that is NOT mine. I want to make that clear. I can't accurately credit the creator though. it is from a downloadable challenge map, from noodle, but used in sora1kg's challenge course. the castle isn't his though, which I confirmed.

I really wanted to use it, as it was the absolute perfect castle for the area. I figured since it was made available to the public, I have entirely retextured it, will add more detail to the walls and towers, and re-do virtually all of the interior as well, that it will overall make it far more unique and not just a copy and paste. again, the original design / concept is not mine. I only take credit for the changes. I will also make some different mushrooms either tomorrow or the next, which the land below the castle will be riddled with, as it is called "The Enchanted Jungle."

lastly, this section will either be a 4 puzzle or 4 trivia area. I haven't fully decided, but I am leaning puzzle at this moment, after initially planning it to be a trivia-based area. look out for update pics tomorrow and I will also probably be hosting again for whoever wants to see it in-game and/or attempt some courses.

some pics of the enchanted jungle so far. spent tonight getting some terrain done (which is mostly finished), setting up some golden knights that are not so golden and instead pink knights! which I think look great tbh. and then spent literally ages building a big mushroom. luckily most of the others will be far smaller and I only need a few diffent variations to be able to paste down to make one big mushroom jungle lol

so I will get the other mushrooms done tomorrow, then outline where I want the courses to be, and also work a little on the castle interior

unkempt sage
#

here is the progress from tonight. added tons of mushrooms around, with a few different sizes, with each having a different color combo. also made a staircase up to the castle, as well as planned where each course will take place. this area will not be like the dragon and phoenix area and instead every course will be entirely within the terrain / surroundings. the puzzles will take place inside mushrooms. the trivia rooms will all be inside mushrooms. the parkours will be low gravity, jumping from glowing, floating rock to rock. the maze will be in a dungeon under the castle. the mastery puzzle will be the entire castle, with the intention to take players an hour and half, roughly, to explore fully, find all the keys, codes, etc.

Tempers and I also worked on some books with different quotes for an achievement in the gardens area. I will be messaging a handful of people to contribute for the remaining quotes we need. I intend on completing 3-4 courses by tomorrow night (tonight / tomorrow morning), which will be a trivia (more so a... quiz) and a couple passcode puzzles.

unkempt sage
#

the first course of the enchanted jungle is finished. it is a passcode puzzle. Tempers tested it and it took him 1 hour and 11 minutes. which is more than twice as long as any other puzzle he has tested, meaning this should be the hardest one. I actually am really satisfied with the clues to the code. I plan to get another puzzle, a parkour, and the trivia done tomorrow night. I spent the night helping some players, so I didn't build as much.

the currency has been renamed to fit the area and is "Royal Notes" which I think is fitting. not much else was done. but I hope to get the entire section, including secrets, completed by the end of this weekend. then, it'll be on to the final section (finally). still looking for an upside down cottage or for someone to make one. and if anyone happens to have a not too large ship, more medieval style, then I would happily feature it on the world! that is all.

unkempt sage
#

here are the world statistics through 07/13/23. thank you to copy and paste + fill/clear operations. but, even with all that, still nearly 300k combined blocks cleared/placed. I will upload some individual player stats later today!

I believe that only occurs for players that aren't the host/map creator, as it occurs when trying to view players that joined prior to yourself. I have looked at them quite a lot and had no problems personally, I just know other players have blue screened from it on my map though

gray tusk
unkempt sage
# gray tusk Has this been reported as a bug?

yeah, I had Tempers report it about 2 weeks ago. Native Function responded and said old menu is not supported. while true, the old menu is the only thing we have right now that allows the host to view other player's stats so it was relevant enough to me lol

unkempt sage
#

here are the player stats of me and the 9 most accomplished players on the map. I am going to list of some different facts to put it all in perspective.

While Slaq has died the most, Jymbo dies the most per hour, at 12.46 deaths per hour (or one time every ~4.8 minutes). that is almost double the second highest rate.
On the other hand, Jeff McNewmen dies the least per hour, at 1.04 deaths per hour (which is correlated with his course preferences).

ApocalypsePleez has done the most in the least amount of time, as he averages just over a course completion per hour (1.09). he has defeated 5 dragon and phoenix courses, including the mastery parkour, and also defeated 1 divine gardens course, that being the mastery maze. Minju is just behind him, with 1.07 course completions per hour. and to his credit, he did all 6 last night, having had never played the game before.

Tempers might not have the most completions per hour, but he has the greatest resume undoubtedly. He has defeated all 17 of the available courses to this point, with 14 podiums, and 7 first place finishes.
Apocalypse, Slaq, and Tempers are the only players to defeat both available mastery courses as well, with each doing so in that order.

unkempt sage
#

I finished another passcode puzzle tonight, along with one of the two parkours for the enchanted jungle area. I also have the trivia roughly done, just need to actually get questions in books and it fully scripted. it won't be a normal trivia, but instead a sort of test/quiz, on my favorite academic subject.. haha sorry to those who will hate it. I also spent time planning some things for the mastery puzzle and working on a side project, otherwise I would have went ahead and got the other parkour finished too or completed the trivia fully. I expect by tomorrow night to have a total of 5 courses finished, maybe 6.

also, huge congratulations to Minju. as I said in the past post, he had never played this game prior to last night. and he defeated 6 courses in that roughly 6 hour session, including the hardest course on the entire map--the tower parkour. that means every course in the fire section finally has multiple place finishers and just 1 podium spot remains.

unkempt sage
#

I finished the 2nd and final parkour of the the enchanted jungle. I didn't get the trivia transferred over to the books / scripts yet, as I am contemplating how I want to do it still. I made a passage the maze and am deciding how I want to do that, because I could make it very difficult if I want to lol but I am unsure if the parkour is super hard, so I don't want to overload on that and would like to have a challenge or two that is more on easy to medium side.

I would have had more completed, as in the trivia, but I have been super into another project of mine, so I spent a few hours tonight on that. but, Tempers will be on Monday, so I will for sure make the biggest strides tomorrow night. I will for sure finish an additional course later tonight and possibly start on getting an outline of the entire maze and some of it built too. but, I obviously want to work on my other project too, so I will for sure do that as well. am excited to show the community it, but it is far from finished.

anyway, I will make sure to host the world for an hour or two tonight for those who want to attempt the new course additions from the past couple nights. the parkours are low gravity, with a speed buff, and the ability to triple jump! so make sure to remember that when doing them lol

hosting online for an hour or two, for anyone trying to check out some new stuff. anyone attempting the parkours / puzzle, it may be too hard/easy! I have not had anyone test them, so I need some people to try them out

unkempt sage
#

I attempted to do something different with the other passcode puzzle, but it ended up not working out lol and then I got sidetracked working on my other project, which might for the next couple days take up a good chunk of time. still going to be hosting for a little each night, especially if someone asks me to. I probably need to cheat proof the parkours a little better, which I did some tonight. however, I am getting towards the point where I am contemplating disabling fly officially. I can restructure the spawn to be able to exit without it, increase the movement speeds in the hub, and then make sure everyone knows about the TP menu.

I will still possibly allow fly for trusted players, since the zones still exist, just maybe not all the needed invisible barriers for exposed parkour, such as the ones in the enchanted jungle area. I will probably have the passcode puzzle clues all laid out early in the afternoon today and it typed up / scripted soon after, just so I can say I made progress lol

one thing I will say: I still am looking for an upside down cottage. not sure anyone has built one, but maybe someone is willing to. doesn't have to be large. if no one has one or wants to build one to contribute, that is fine, obviously.

not currently, but I will. initially, I planned for the outside to all be a big pixel art display (hence the “mind of man” name). but I think I have decided to expand that and make it possibly a community display. anyone is free to donate something and I’ll make a place for it to be displayed. I think that’s a better concept for the mind of man. the majority might still end up being my builds, but this at least allows the community to contribute to the world and have their builds seen

What about making villages n stuff

#

Bcs that’s the impression I got at first that it was gonna be some type of school or wizard place or city

unkempt sage

not sure, obviously that would be cool, but I don’t want to spend too much time myself beyond the center circle. I got maps planned that I want to get to soon and I’m also working on a mod too, so a village would be a lot 😂 however, I could possibly have that be a part of the map down the road, in some sort of 2.0 version of it maybe

unkempt sage
#

hosted the map for a few hours tonight. had a handful of players stop by, so I appreciate all of them who did. I also had two players beat the latest passcode puzzle, both took a over an hour to beat it, but it is possible to do and I know that now thanks to the two who attempted it (ElFuego and Tempers). I also had two players spend a good amount of time on the Enchanted Parkour course (the first). and after about an hour and a half one of them beat it (Minju). Tempers came close (2 jumps away). pretty satisfied with how long it is taking. I want most courses to require a good amount of time and effort, with just a few more simpler and quicker courses (such as the low gravity parkour in the phoenix section). hope to get people testing the 2nd enchanted parkour soon and get an idea of what the difficulty is at for it

unkempt sage
#

the 2nd enchanted parkour has also been tested offically by someone (ElFuego) and defeated. all courses are back to having at least 1 finisher.

I have also decided to implement a checkpoint system for the parkours (enchanted ones). this is already in place for the 2nd one and will be put in place for the first. I may also include this on other parkours in the map, but probably not. the parkours in the enchanted jungle are only worth 10 each, so based off the difficulty, I felt a checkpoint system was needed.

will get back to making progress this weekend and hopefully get down to just needing to make the mastery puzzle. I scrapped the idea I had for the trivia and am switching it to something else and then the passcode I was wanting to do just didn't work out like I thought it would. but I will make one up at some point when I get up and then put it in. been working on another project, as I said, plus some other things too. so that has consumed a lot of my focus and I was also sort of waiting on some people to test out my courses that I had built before I kept going so I knew that it was safe to host for players, with the difficulty settled on the other 4.

certainly will get at least the trivia and 3rd puzzle done by the end of the weekend and probably the maze too. appreciate the people who helped test out the other courses in the area and I am glad y'all like the triple jump aspect!

unkempt sage
#

summary of today:
the 3rd enchanted passcode puzzle is officially done and added into the world. Tempers finished 1st, earning his 4th 1st place finish for a passcode puzzle, while ElFuego finished 2nd. ElFuego also found a second possible solution, so good for him!
I finished the trivia for the area and Tempers went ahead and finished it as well.

the trivia is called "Host Trivia" meaning it is... about the host aka me aka Jectz. this was always my least favorite type of trivia back in the day, as I always felt how am I supposed to be expected to know all this?? but, I saw it as a perfect way to give people the chance to learn about me a little bit more. not too much, but a little nonetheless. so, hopefully while all of you might struggle with it you also learn a good bit. and don't feel bad if you do poor, Tempers has known me personally for 10 years almost and chose the wrong answer 14 times... lol

hope to get the maze done soon and we are working on outlining the mastery puzzle. but I also have a couple side projects I am working on too. however, I will most certainly attempt to get the maze done by the end of the weekend.

not much to update from last night. took the day off from working on it and worked on something else for someone, spent time with family, and all that fun stuff. I will be hosting it tonight for a couple hours and letting players try out the new trivia and whatever other courses they might want to try to beat.

Tempers and I will be trying to get the mastery puzzle built/scripted a good bit today. the mastery puzzle isn’t a passcode puzzle. it’s the entire castle. players will explore the place, find keys, discover secret passages, solve puzzles, do parkour, and more!

I’m hoping to get this done pretty soon here and put out there for players to partake in. should be fun to make and more fun to play (y’all will be the judge of how fun it is to play).

Tempers and I worked a little on planning the mastery puzzle out and also went ahead and implemented the beginning puzzle for castle entry. we did a much shorter and simpler passcode puzzle. hopefully something obtainable for all (I will help players too if they ask). there is also a possible alternative...

we also added the additional solution to the third enchanted passcode puzzle, which as said before was found thanks to ElFuego. that is about it, but I will work some on the maze in the coming days and hopefully get that finished up very soon.

sorry for the lack of updates the past couple days! I have been hard at work on other things right now, but I should be getting one of them done by tomorrow which will free up more time.

Tempers hasn’t been able to get on, but he’s working on coming up with different puzzles for the mastery puzzle to contain within the castle. so we will get those added and probably the entire puzzle mapped out tonight or tomorrow!

getting closer to moving on to the next section too, which heavily trivia-based. anyone who wants to donate questions is free to do so! just dm me, it can be just general knowledge stuff
