# runic sparrow After 1 month of hard work ! πŸ’ͺ I present to you... πŸ₯ **Beat 'Em Up Template**...

Hi @runic sparrow! I just purchased your GDev template from itchio ("Beat 'Em Up Template") and its been a couple of years since I opened GDev (I made a game called "Brusnik's Long Way Home" with another GDev dev) and now it's all "GDev Cloud" and GoogleDrive is being phased out by Jan 31st etc etc...

ACTIONS TAKEN:

  • I uploaded the template to Google Drive
  • I was able to open the "Beat 'Em Up Template.json"

However, all of the assets are unlinked? Please help!?

By chance, do you have any instructions or best practice suggestions to load the template successfully into GDev?

(This 110% is probably user error on my part, but I couldnt find anything about this elsewhere?)

Try this:

  • Make sure you actually unzipped the downloaded file (.zip) using WinRAR or any unzip software.
  • If you are on GDevelop mobile app or on GDevelop browser, then uploading the tempalte to google drive and opening it will not fix the assets, the only way to fix it is by opening GDevelop desktop app on your PC/Laptop β†’ login to your account β†’ Open the template project file (.json) β†’ save it to your cloud β†’ Done ! now you can close gdevelop, and log in from any platform (Mobile/browser) to your account and you will find the project in (My projects) section.

Okay so in recreating the step by step...I have the unzipped folder on my desktop then:

1.) Open Gdevelop 5 in the browser (Latest Chrome on Mac)
2.) Logged in to my account
3.) Hamburger menu next to Home tab
4.) File - Open (see screencap)

There doesn't seem to be a way to open projects and save them to GDev cloud without going via Google Drive?

#

There also isnt a clearly labelled "Build Section" of the Homepage...Just these options (screencap 1) or a bunch of "Build Game Mechanics" templates (screencap 2). Am I missing something?

That fixed it mate! I opened it on a Windows system and it worked just as you described. Weird that the Mac version of GDev doesn't allow local computer loading? Out of curiosity, how much do you charge for your game dev services?
