It's a bigger jump from Haz 3 than Haz 2 to 3 was, for sure. Solo, I find it fine, but in pubs with randos, nah 👎 definitely possible to match up with three other competent miners, but my experience so far has been contrary.

Two questions, chat: is there a more frustrating pub match relationship than an Engineer that won't make platforms and a Scout that won't grapple to a platform? lol

Also, does anyone know off the top of their head what the spawn rate for bittergems (pink ones) and gold chunks are? Haven't seen 'em in a while and I'm pretty close to finishing off those trophies.

Yeah, I constantly ping as a Scout if there's an Engineer in play, and half the time it never gets platformed. Same as when I play Engineer, I'll pop platforms on all the high minerals I see, and if I come back a few minutes later, again, half the time it isn't mined 😅 in fact, some gunners are better at getting them than scouts, from what I've seen.

I only play scout if im honest, so I always try to make sure im not missing any materials or any secondary objective stuff, and I always try to reach the high places, even if It doesnt get platformed. I found out this trick that you can use skull crusher to break a wall when you grapple hook so theres a chance that you can stay where you want rather than just falling and dying.

1 prospector: a drone in black and orange that hovers around that once shot triggers a health bar

It is also crazy fast so dont think about chasing it for long areas

Is it worth the time, especially on double XP missions, to farm as much as possible?

Do you get more XP in a morkite mission, for example, if you farm more morkite than is required for the objective?

You do get more XP for more Morkite than necessary. However, if you can complete the mission quickly and return to the space rig to re-select that same Double XP mission before missions change over, you'll get more XP from doing the mission twice in a row than from mining one mission for all it's worth.
That said, if you can't make it back in time to select it again, you will get more XP for mining as much as possible. One of the consistenly highest amounts of XP you can get from a mission is a 400 Morkite Double XP with Dark Morkite beer and you mine as much as possible

Recently started playing gunner, will I do more damage with mini and bulldog over auto and Bret? Considering overclocks? I only ask cause the reddit post I see are from two years ago praising the mini, but I haven't seen a single gunner use the mini in haz 3+

There are folks who will talk about "builds," but really you'll do more damage with whatever you feel good using. You can build the weapons to do different things, and save loadouts for situational builds if you really want to get into the weeds, but builds seem to be only as good as you are at using them the way they're built (i.e. a splash damage build is going to be good for swarms but not as good against large single targets). Basically, use what is fun for you. There's not really any broken builds that are ridiculously over-powered. I've been using the minigun on any Hazard Level without regrets when I play Gunner, but others enjoy the Auto-Cannon more. And heck, the new Hurricane rocket launcher is some of the most fun I've had with the Gunner ever (although I haven't put it through its paces on Haz 5 yet, personally)

The thing is, these "meta" builds are only as good as the person using them. My friend loves the Cryo-Cannon for the Driller, and he does well with it. I would do horribly with it; it just doesn't fit my play style at all and I am bad at changing, haha. So I run Flamethrower (probably in a way that also isn't the meta), and I think I'm pretty darn good with it

If someone forced me to use a particular build because it was "the only 'right' way to play," I would absolutely be a hindrance to a team, but let me use what I want and we'll all have a good time

I will never be the greatest player of all time, and you know what? That's perfect! Trying that hard just isn't fun for me. Fine if it is for others, but maybe they should set their missions to Friends Only...

And so my friends or I are the ones who host, so we can't get kicked for not being cool enough, haha

one thing about PE missions is that the longer you take, the more frequently the waves show up (I forget if they get bigger or not)

on higher haz levels, 20min is probably a decent of marker of you should probably be getting out of here soon or else you might get overwhelmed, esp if playing with randos

if you're playing solo in 2p (aka solo but without bosco), that sounds like that'd easily do it, esp if you're at 40min+

point extract is the only mission that scales with time. You shud be out of there before 15 mins

if you stay longer the passive swarms become un manageable, especially on haz 4 and 5

You can scan a broken mini mule to find it's legs easier on the map/terrain scanner

But yeah, you get a decent amount of biomes with elemental effects. The thing is, with the exception of the Freezing effect from the frequent blizzard in Glacial Strata, most of the elemental effects are largely avoidable. The perk doesn't seem as useful to me as some of the others

I’m guesing your thinking of using elemental insulation. It’s usefulness varies depending on region. It helps in fungus bogs and radioactive zone the most imo

there are some enemies that do elemental dmg, like pratorian fart gas or acid spitters dot, but it isn’t whole lot of protection to them

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this. So I booted up my game on my console and noticed that I lost the entirety of my progress since the last time I played (about an hour worth of game time, two missions roughly). I had promoted my Scout for the first time, unlocked a skin for the carbine, and an attachment for my pickaxe. I tried closing and booting up my game several times but no luck. And I confirmed that the save file was still there, although I don't know if that is tied to my progress or not.

Depends on your primary, but I'm partial to Hipster m1k with special powder boomstick. For perks I usually run field medic and whichever active I've been feeling lately (heightened senses is solid for scout), and for passives I use deep pockets, thorns and resupplier. Passives are more for personal preference, though. Also I almost exclusively use IFGs

It's a rare glitch caused by the game but the trophy need you to "complete your first assignment" so if you finish another assignment, you should get it

yeah, if not, just upload your save to the cloud, turn off auto sync for deep rock galactic and do the first assignment again, after that download your old save from the cloud

MnK is the best in everything though. It’ll be better in every scenario possible. Just saying that controller isn’t as bad as people say it is. There is also a button which instantly reverses your POV which is quite handy when you master it.

I use that reverse POV button when I’m facing those glyphid praetorians Grapple behind them and hit the weak spot quickly. Great practice.

I frequently use the expert grapple for mining minerals as scout. The grapple, power smash, hover boots, aim up and dig 2-3 times and then grapple same spot. But if I miss then I reverse button and save myself from fall damage.

heat pipe used to give you a shit ton of tcf uses, but now it’s not really practical to use tcf in combat due to that fact it overheats super easy easily

Any barrels that fall below the drop pod can be kicked out of that area with a little practice. Try to kick the barrel(s) up on the three pipes that are to the left when you're facing the ladder. Obviously, avoiding the barrels dropping down there is preferable, but try telling the barrels that...
