No, the only reason to wait is if you cannot afford the promotion fees. You do not earn any XP if the dwarf you're using is already level 25, so if you play missions while max level you're actually slowing down the progress on your blue Player Level

Also, you can (and probably should) switch to a dwarf that is not level 25 when doing Promotion Assignment missions

The only true benefit an Engi brings to a team is the pancake gun and let's be honest, A driller doesn't need it, a Gunner doesn't and a good Scout can live without it... The Turret Damage is sub par at best, and most fruitloops run the LOK-1 and that's the most ammo unfriendly weapon in the game!

But lets be honest Engi's might have dmg but they got no crowd control and that is probably the biggest ailment, there is a reason they run around frantically all the time. Unless you specc speed building as an Engi, you can't even get 2 turrets build when you hear the Wave is coming message before it arives. You say it's a very tactical class but really it's a slowpoke with high dmg and only if you can get the mobs in front of the turrets.

It was added a short while after the Escort mission was introduced because the community requested a way to "save" Doretta. It's just a fun little thing. And honestly, the model already existed and the carrying mechanics already existed, so it was probably a relatively easy and quick thing to add

A few days ago I got really upset when a driller drilled to the drop pod without attempting to save any of us a few feet away. But now I realized you only get a credit bonus for having more dwarves in the end drop pod, so them going into the droppod solo was a really smart move.

Also I learned to not rush things and instead of dying like a fool to at least burn all my ammo before doing a risky move.

Hazard 5 is gated behind an Assignment of being able to complete several Hazard 4 missions. I think that's reasonable. I don't think there needs to be additional gating, rather I think there needs to be the understanding that playing a teamwork-intended, co-op game with random folks who are not communicating will likely be more difficult than playing with folks who are communicating and/or who are not random.
Playing with random folks is like having a completely random difficulty modifier added to the mission, sometimes they're working with you and coordinating well and the mission is almost too easy for whatever Hazard Level you're on, and sometimes the coordination and teamwork isn't there and the mission feels like Haz 5+ all of a sudden

I see you're POV and don't agree, since there's already a form of level gating in the game for Haz 5, which I'm sure the developers would agree does benefit the playerbase, otherwise it wouldn't be a part of the game's design. I'm all for helping out new players, I've Sherpa'd in many games, but I've been frustrated with the players I've been matched up with so far, and not for a lack of my understanding of the game's mechanics, maybe it's bad luck, but I don't think it's fair to be punished by other players looking to get carried or are rushing into Haz 4 for whatever reason.

New players have joined my haz 5 games and i don’t mind if they go down a lot or can’t carry their weight. Playing with an imperfect team is part of the fun cus if youv played with a full team of experienced players, you realize the game gets pretty easy 90% of the time even on haz 5

Yep! There's been almost 4 years of balancing the multiplayer as a team game, and if you don't have any of the coordination that comes from playing as a team, it will almost always feel more difficult

That said, you can play with random folks who really understand the flow of a mission and have a good grasp of common best practices, never communicate once, and have the mission be the easiest Haz 4 you've ever done, but finding those kinds of groups seems significantly less likely when a lot of new players are coming in

Haz 3 is a great place to play. Heck, my friend and I usually play Haz 3 these days as we deal with somewhat frequent real-life interruptions, down from pretty much always running Haz 4 with few failures (or Haz 5 when we were feeling like getting silly) when we had more game time available. Throw a few random folks in and Haz 3 is a pretty good time and just unpredictable enough to still keep us on our toes, haha

Not at all sucky! Haz 3 is the right place for you to start, by the sound of it. The upgrades and perks you'll get actually make a significant difference in the survivability of higher Hazard Levels. I often recommend folks start at Haz 2 even, because upgrades and perks make a difference. You won't get those quickly if you're constantly failing, so Haz 2 is a good place for plenty of folks to learn and earn some XP and resources before pushing into Haz 3. That you're so comfortable at Haz 3 now tells me you'll be in Haz 4 in no time

They're a little bit on the longer side of mission length, in my experience. I think they're neat, and I think in general folks like the mission design. Some folks feel that they don't payout as well as they'd like for the time taken, which is a similar feeling I've seen mentioned for Escort Duty missions

But unlike Escort which has no special item to earn, they're the only way to get the Data Racks. And the Data Racks can be worth a good chunk of season pass performance points if you have the daily quest for them

you already got the one that needs you to put in the most manual effort at once (barrels in pod), now it's just grinding for gold promotes

though I couldn't quite say if it's faster for xp to speedrun your own missions or focus on sniping late joins

running your own on higher haz is prooobably faster, but getting lucky with late joins is pretty fast xp too, probably depends on your luck and how much you prefer consistency vs randomness

I took the easy way out and just wrote off the plat the moment I saw it needed gold on all classes, not about that life

My (very limited) understanding is that you can install and play the PS4 version on the PS5 instead of the PS5 version, and that will let you use your PS4 save. The devs have said they will look into some way to move your save to the PS5 version

They cannot make them fast enough to keep up with demand, otherwise they would not sell out -- especially in the case where they're only selling online. what stoic said is right, if you want to transfer your save you'll have to play the ps4 ver on ps5, which works perfectly fine. I say from experience as I do this intentionally so I can still use my ps4 back button

this can happen if a new miner is joining as you call the drop pod. it'll get stuck in the ceiling until they finish loading in, and if they're on a non ssd ps4 (aka almost all of them), this can take a long while

Oh, and it's not always down to just the time it takes to load, in that situation. Not only do they have to load the mission, they also have to pick a class. If they aren't paying attention while they load and haven't picked a class, they can be joining but "stuck" on loading in indefinitely

On PC, I've ran around for a good while or so before someone finished loading in, and I can only assume the person clicked join and then walked away while it loaded. In the meantime, we finished the mission, called the drop pod, and ran around for about 5 minutes or so before they loaded in and the drop pod arrived. We were all standing right in the landing area by that point

I've definitely had worse ends to a mission and we weren't in any kind of rush, just hanging out letting random folks join, but I wouldn't fault anyone for kicking someone who has started to join but hasn't finished for a good few minutes when you're trying to wrap up a mission, especially on a higher Haz Level

I'm really not a fan of kicking unless a person is actively and intentionally being problematic, but at some point it does kinda become the joining person being (probably almost always unintentionally) inconsiderate of other peoples' time

There is an upgrade for the Satchel Charge that increases the radius, but I would guess even then it's significantly less

If you happen to play Driller, you might be able to test this in-game to know for sure next time you run into a Bulk Detonator. Try to explode it in a relatively large, flat area and then do the same with a Satchel Charge nearby. You can roughly measure the difference in diameters using the laser pointer

Thoughts on people joining matches late (probably on purpose) to reap rewards? I host almost all of the games I play, usually Haz 3, and I've been seeing it maybe every other match, usually higher rank players, i.e. multiple promotions. Do you guys switch to friends only after most of the objective is complete, or is it whatever/no harm no foul as long as they're not there to troll?
