They all have strengths and weaknesses. Try them all, and see which tools and weapons you enjoy most. Keep in mind, you'll get new weapons before long, and everything has upgrades, so you can change how each class plays a bit. If things are a bit too hectic or not fun, change the Hazard Level to something more accommodating. Haz 2 is a good place to start for most folks, but Haz 1 is pretty hard to fail if you want something very chill that'll let you get a good feel for each mission type

How does one be a good Scout? I feel like I’m not doing enough for my team. I toss flares, grab resources that are too high for my team. Just feel kinda useless during swarms. Any tips?

The Scout is the least capable at bug hunting, for sure. You just never have enough firepower. That's intentional, I believe. Your primary strength is your mobility: get the hard to reach stuff and get to downed teammates for the revives. Second, use the flare gun a lot, especially when swarms happen. The flare gun flares burn way longer and way brighter. One or two will usually last a whole swarm and they'll help everyone see what's going on. When you first enter spaces, shoot flares up to help everyone assess the room and help the engineer spot where platforms are needed to help you gather minerals and secondary objectives.
Basically, on the mission summary screen you should have the lowest kill count, the highest minerals count, and, in a solid run the most revives and least deaths (this last bit is very situational)

Everyone gets all of the earned credits, crafting minerals, and XP at the end of the mission. The only thing you need to each individually collect are the rewards from Machine Events(if you have a promoted dwarf and have Black Cores), Cargo Crates, and Lost Packs

Machine Events allow you to exchange a Blank Core for a Weapon Overclock or Cosmetic Overclock (that you'll then need to make at the forge). Cargo Crates and Lost Packs give you a cosmetic reward to customize what your dwarves look like, such as pickaxe parts, new frameworks (models) for weapons, paint jobs for weapons and armor, etc.

There are no new or additional tools, every class has two unique tools. You can upgrade those tools a bit at the Equipment Terminal.
You unlock new weapons by completing the Weapon Assignments. The first Weapons Assignment is for a new primary weapon, and those assignments start becoming available in the Assignment Terminal when a dwarf reaches level 10. Once you complete a Weapon Assignment, you can purchase and upgrade the new weapon in the Equipment Terminal. Once you've purchased new weapons, you can then select which primary and secondary weapon you'll be taking into the mission at that Equipment Terminal. You can only take one primary and one secondary at a time.
Each class also has unique grenades. You can unlock new grenades in the Equipment Terminal when you reach specific levels as well.

I dunno if you’re that far yet but as a scout main, Scout can be pretty able to hold out for itself against swarms should you learn some tricks and unlocked overclocks. My main build revolves around the use of freezing the enemies and then preceding to exterminate them. I also found it easier to do swarms by having the zoom and boom tactic. I’m not saying you have do this (it’s YOUR scout after-all, don’t let me tell you what to do) but from my experience having your Scout built around either Dr. Freeze or The Flash with guns has definitely made me better at swarms.

Haha. Scout might be my favorite to play, but I do think I'm better at playing Engineer well than Scout well, if I'm being honest 🥴

Scouts can absolutely hold their own, and often contribute meaningfully to kill counts, but they just don't have the firepower in their favor. That said, Lambentcy's strategies are solid, and you can absolutely do some work and save a whole dang downed squad as a Scout if the need arises

@boreal cliff for some reason.. the touch pad is not only to open the map but it hot swaps to your gear depending on which side you slide your thumb on. So what's probably happening is that you go to open your map but instead you didn't press directly down on the touch pad so it pulled out your turret or threw a flair.

The Miner's Manual in the Options screen has a ton of info, but in general just keep exploring, and mine shiny stuff, especially in patches on cave surfaces, for more things like the Enor Pearl you found. They usually glow and emit a low hum.
The only specific thing I can think of at the moment, is that Machine Events are only able to be activated by a promoted dwarf, and they do give rewards, but only if you have available Black Cores. You can begin earning Blank Cores once you've got a dwarf promoted

I am not sure where the error lies. I have tried for the last hour to get DRG to connect to others. I am a long time PC DRG player and tonight I was supposed to introduce my Playstation friends to DRG. Last night I tried a bit on my own to get used to playing with a controller, but I couldn't join other games. Today I tried again and have been looking at my firewall settings for quite some time now. Just out of curiosity I booted up my PS4 and could connect to other players, but not the PS5 (and since the progress doesn't carry over I don't want to play on the PS4 unless I absolutely have to).
And just for the record, my consoles are all connected using Ethernet cables (no wireless), I have restarted my router and tried every combination of port forwarding, DMZ, Open NAT and NAT type my router (ASUS RT-AC86U) allows. I love the game and hope that the devs can find the culprit soon. Right now I am downloading the PS4 version on my PS5 to see if there is a difference.

It all comes down to your play style. The really good thing with DRG is the many combinations you can do with weapons, customizations, overclocks and perks, so there is no best thing.

Ok, tried that. Rebooted the router by denying it electrons for 10 seconds. Didn't help me.
In the game, I get the server list and available games, but after a short while I get the "JOIN FAILED" message when trying to join.
When I go into the "View connection status" I still can't get a NAT-Type (should be 2 like it has been on my PS3 and PS4). It just says "Checking..." so it might be the PS5 not playing nice with other networking equipment. Although it hasn't manifested in other games (and a few nights ago I played Back4Blood with some guys on the XBox and a PC player), so there is something triggering it.

Out of curiosity I tried the PS4 version on the PS5 and no success. The PS4 version on the PS4 on the other hand worked. My PS4 get assigned the IP via DHCP from the pool, whereas the PS5 gets the same IP assigned every time so I can port forward if I want (usually I just do UPnP, but back in the PS3-day I needed to port forward a lot to get multiplayer games to work, so my main console always have a fixed IP).

It's always escort duty where I have the worst experience. So here's the story: me (gunner) and the rest of the team are in the heartstone room, not a single resupply the entire mission, and no one but me has made an effort to find nitra. We have 60 deposited and someone (I couldn't see who but it wasn't the host because me and him yelled at whoever did it) starts the drilldozer, while the entire team (checking through the context tool) is sitting at effectively no ammo. So I go out to find nitra while the team is suffering and can only find 19 before making it back in hopes that there would be some in the heartstone room. To my disappointment there was none, and we failed the mission because Dotty died. Suffice to say I will always hate escort duty, regardless of if I play it on pc or console.

With a ps4/ps5 dualshock controller it has a built-in gryo. drg uses it to have a 'secondary' way to aim. So right analog stick does what you expect it and tilting the control left right up or down also slightly changed your view/aim in that direction.

@QA-manda Reporting back with the experiences on the PS5: We couldn't get it to work. If they tried to join me or I tried to join one of them them we always got the "couldn't join"-message. Since my PS5 won't report what NAT type I have I guess it has got something to do with that. I will continue looking tomorrow and try to solve that first. In the end, two of us booted up our old PS4:s and joined our third friend. It worked like a charm, and now I have them hooked.

So question to everyone: if there is anyone that have had the same problem as I and solved it I would be grateful for any pointers. My PS5 is connected directly to the router (ASUS RT-AC86U) using cable but when I go into the connection status on the PS5 it won't show what NAT-type I have, only the message "Checking..."
I have tried port forwarding, DMZ and OpenNAT but must have missed something. On my old consoles it always said type 2 (which is normal with my setup). Thanks.

I don't have a modem. I have an ethernet jack directly. I could try to put the PS5 directly into the jack but then I would have to wait for my provider to timeout (whenever the MAC address of the device changes it takes half an hour or more for my providers switch to acknowledge the change).

Yes, everything is standard settings, nothing different other than my router always handing out the same IP for my PS5 (so I can do port forwarding if I want).

Yes, both putting it on the DMZ (opening everything) and regular port forwarding for the ranges that PSN and DRG uses. Also tried the routers two different NAT modes.

I'll try methodically tomorrow. It is getting late today. Other games (Back4Blood and Overwatch both work with crossplay) and streaming services work, it just bothers me with the NAT type. Usually the console determines it immediately, so I am a bit confused. And of course that I can see all the DRG games in the server browser but not join any (nor be joined).

True, and the DRG community is one of the nicest. Even when I was a complete noob on the PC, others helped me out. But I have faith in the devs, they have put out an amazing game and this will probably be the first game I ever buy cosmetic DLC for, just to support them (after all, I was going to buy the game when I heard it was coming to Playstation!)

Hey, how long is the Battle Pass active on Playstation? Will we be able to buy everything in the pass with Scrip?

There's no announced end date currently, but I believe the plan is about 4 to 5 months per season. The intended time to complete all the season unlocks is about 100 hours or so (about an hour of play time per level). You probably have time.
That said, if you are unable to unlock everything before the season ends, you won't miss anything. Anything you don't unlock will become available to find in-mission, in things like the Cargo Crates and Lost Packs

Oh, and yes, everything is unlocked with in-game currency. The Season Pass is completely free. There are no microtransactions for the Season Pass

I totally understand the constraints on engineering bandwidth and am familiar with the various platform-specific networking stacks but if there were a smaller cross-save feature that would allow even manual porting of progress/unlocks across platforms I think it would allow folks like me to play with my PS5 friends in a way I'm reluctant to invest in now.

It happens:( sometimes if you grapple and u are stuck on the grapple and if u let go u fall and die try calling the mule it might come and sit under you depending on where u are

And it can save your ass

Also if u fall onto a teammate you take no fall dmg

I don't know if I can make a good guess as to a ballpark figure for how long it would take to get to level 25 and then do the four Promotion Assignment missions, because it depends on so many factors (success/failure of missions, Hazard level, how fast you run through missions, etc.) But if I had to make a bad guess, I'd say 10ish hours, maybe? If you're focusing on the promotion and nothing else, but not rushing through levels. The last few levels getting to 25 do take a few hours.
By the way, you do not need to play the class you're trying to promote during the promotion missions. This will allow you to earn XP on another class while you do the promotion missions, because once you hit 25 you stop gaining XP on that dwarf until the dwarf is promoted

But, and this is a big but, you may find yourself without enough minerals and credits if you really rush through things. Promotions get expensive

It's a good bit of time, but you can always just pop in for a quick mission of two. I love that about DRG: you can play for 20 - 30 minutes and feel like you did something, made some progress

Yes, tried with both the PS4 and PS5 version on the PS5 and it didn't work. PS4 version on the PS4 worked though. Similar (that is standard network settings) on both consoles and no special settings for either in the router.

Yeah, exhaust/deplete. So if you like to play gunner, you will increase the chance of getting gunner overclocks from deep dives and the likes, if you eliminate one of the other classes from the awards. So, let's say you complete a machine event and get to infuse a blank core. This will give you a choice between three different cores for the three classes. You might not get gunner every time, but then you'll get the other three. So, if you pick, let's say Scout, each time this happens, you'll remove one class from the pool, making sure the odds of getting overclocks for Gunner are higher (since you can't roll Scout anymore). Some people like to spread it out, but if you want to increase the odds, pick the same class every time you can't pick the one you want.

Once a dwarf hits level 10, you'll have a new Assignment you can take to qualify for a new primary weapon for that dwarf. Complete the Assignment missions, and then you can purchase the new weapon from the Equipment Terminal. You'll unlock the Assignments as you keep leveling up
