The Github is not used to get mods anymore, you may find some modders' source files nowadays though. Modio is the place where you officially get mods now.

No old mods are gonna work with current drg. Season 02 moved the game to a different version of the engine.

Then your best bet is to politely ask the modder who created it to make it available on modio.
However, most mods are not working right now due to the recent engine change.

Hey dudes, is there a known workaround for the crashing at loadup on the new engine? a friend told me he seemed to fix it by reinstalling his mods, but that appears not to have worked for me. Or maybe a specific mod is causing some kind of domino effect, not entirely sure

The season 02 update changed to a whole new version of the engine. Any mod that has not been updated for this version (and is marked as outdated) will crash your game.

I mean if they are disabled they shouldn't even be accessed by the code
they should be seen not heard so to speak

if one of them is faster mining, or thickaxe, or any of the other weird ones that 'required a restart' to work, then yes, it being outdated and disabled after 1 restart will still FUBAR you... I dont know exactly why, but it can.

the only way I was able to end the cycle of start, auto reinstall all mods, disable all mods, restart game, crash... begin again.. was to unsub from all my mods and then start over >.>

The dev that made that mod I believe stated that they wouldn't be brought forward to 1.36.. or at least, it would be awhile as they weren't happy with the coding (So it would be a case of completely remaking it rather than just updating it for the new engine) -- correct me if wrong Shrub.

I'm guessing the lack of reply right now is mainly due to so many mods being broken.
The most update/patch has broken many mods, as they updated the engine and this caused lots of issues.
The only mod i need updated to be alive is that Deux Ex glyphids Death scream. Lmao it truly gives them such character i love it.

Find the mods you want and click subscribe, if they were updated in the past 3-4 days they should work, Anything older than that has yet to be updated

anything not updated for Season 2 (version 1.36) will crash your game
You also need to activate them in the modding tab to finish the install and actually see them

If something has a dependency, it will automatically download the dependency if you haven’t downloaded it previously.
There are some guides on mod.IO that can tell you about various mod tags, like the difference between “Sandbox”, “Approved”, and “Verified”

The Mod Hub settings? You can access those with H.

you could ask Banagement the author if he plans to update it - i think youre the 2nd or 3rd person asking about in chat this week, in general a bit of patience is recommended since U36 released mod creators have had a lot of maintenance to catch up on releasing mod updates

I'm actually finishing it up as we speak, fixed some bugs and redid the internals.
I think I have been working on it for 8 or more hours. Redoing it all has been a pain since there is so much to track and optimize.

Approved mods will make your lobby into a mod only server (It will say (MODDED) on the server list), meaning people will need to install the same mods you have to join you
Verified mods is only client sided, which means it wont affect your server type and will let anyone join your lobby even if they have a different mod

It's hidden because it is not updated and thus will crash this update. No other mod exists for that rn

and @vestal badge -- The no ragdoll/reduced ragdoll mods were semi buggy or having issues (per the mod author). They decided not to try to update it for the new engine.
Note; this just means they aren't going to use the SAME code updated to the new engine. Its possible (unconfirmed) that they might make a NEW mod that does the same thing. Or maybe someone else will.

If your crashing make sure your mods are updated for the newest version. An engine update in u36 has made all old mods incompatible

In game before you enable them, there will be a ! Symbol to the right of the mod. If that is there it will likely crash you

The issue isn't really with the engine change, but rather with how I made the mod, which was through editing an enemy file. I don't really know how they decide when something is auto-verified or not, but I think it's related to if the file edited affects actual gameplay, which the enemy file definitely does.
I asked for verified and got it (thank you to the approval team or whatever) and it used to work fine, and it wouldn't affect clients if the host had it, keyword, used. Recently it started making clients see the changes as well, which a verified mod cannot do. I probably should have seen it coming considering it didn't work if a client had it installed, but I figured it was some weird outlier, and I was wrong.
I turned a blind eye to the issue when it first appeared, which was maybe a month left of Season 1, planning to outright delete the mod upon Season 2, which I did. I should not have done that, as it's bad practice to just ignore such an issue, but not much can be done now. In the future I'd probably try to fix such an issue, and if I couldn't, I'd delete the mod sooner than let it be a buggy mess.
If there comes a change where we can have RequiredByAll verified mods, it might make a return, though it's kinda the point of a verified mod not affecting clients so that individual users can enjoy their weird model mods and whatnot.

Mod hub has a problem at the moment where you cannot enable the ui by pressing h or rebind it to another key. The author told another dude with the same problem on the mod.io page that installing drglib and using the failsafe feature (which I have no clue what does) would fix it. Doesn't drglib use mod hub for it's settings/options anyway? so I would need the mod hub ui to enable it in the first place, or is there another method?

its automatic; just having DRGLib will activate failsafe (its a popup) -- and you can tell it to just use failsafe every time instead of popup to ask.
Modhub however should be working just fine without needing failsafe.. are you sure you're only using mods updated in the last 6 days?

they update when mod authors update them... then yes, they autoupdate in game. You still have to go into the menu and click apply.
basically atm; if you have ANY mod that is saying its outdated (the icon in the menu), then it's probably causing you a ton of problems.

I have started the game with drglib enabled
(By picked up I mean, subscribed, waited in game for it to DL, applied it to install, and closed and restarted game)

err, thats not a reinstall; thats just how you install a mod. (and the restart at the end is just to be safe.)
the discussion above is a good path to go down, but just wanted to mention one other possibility since ive seen people encounter it before -- if ModHub is running fine but you accidentally bound it to an unknown or invalid keybind, you can reset the keybind to default (h) by renaming this:
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames\Mods\ModHub\input.sav"
to
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames\Mods\ModHub\input.sav.orig"
make sure the game is closed when renaming and then open it back up again and it should regenerate a new input.sav with default key
... your filepaths may differ slightly, always use caution when making changes in the SaveGames folder so as to not accidentally modify/delete your player game progress
^ very much this, if your ESC-> modding menu is showing modhub as enabled, and H is not working, this is likely the culprit; HOWEVER, you can test this by just disabling EVERY mod except modhub, and trying H once more before editing files.

So just throwing this out there in case it's not widely known, since I had to work through the issue blind and couldn't find a single guide that mentioned it. If you're having issues syncing DRG/Steam/mod.io, you might want to try using literally anything that isn't the in-game browser that pops up when you click 'install' in the dlc menu. Seems like there's some oddities with regards to 2fa or something and the mod.io warnings don't actually do anything.
Well I have a problem, when I create a server with enabled mods people that come to me do not download them, that is, the mods work only with me, but the other players as if they were on a normal server without mods
That is up to the mod authors to decide, it is either required or optional for approved and sandbox mods.

They were effecting other people as a client (which is a no-no for verified mods).. it was found out about a month before patch but left up until the 28th when they were removed. They may at some point be remade with new/working code.. but no word on that yet.

Installing mods in DRG
**1. **Launch the game and enter the space rig. It's easier to configure your mods as a whole without being in a lobby.
**2. **Ensure that your steam overlay is enabled.
**3. **Press the ESC key
**4. **Click on the modding tab from the selection at the top of your screen.
5. If this is your first time, this will walk you through making an account on mod.io that's linked to your steam account via a token. Mod.io never sees your steam password.
**6. **You'll be able to browse mod.io for any mods that interest you by clicking MANAGE MODS in the bottom right hand corner. Pay attention to the version tag. Mods not built on the latest major update (1.35 vs 1.36) will not work. It is a little more complicated than that though. It's the responsibility of the mod author to update their mod and tag it appropriately. **Out of date mods will appear in the mod manager with an explanation point surrounded by a yellow diamond on the far right side. **
**7. **Find a mod you like and click subscribe. Be sure to pay attention to any dependencies that mod requires. For instance Miracle's More Mutators requires the Miracle Mod Manager to function.
**8. **Once you have found all of the mods you want, exit the steam overlay.
**9. **The mod(s) you subscribed to should download on their own automatically.
**10. **Once they are downloaded they will say Pending Install in the left hand column. Click apply to install them. This will require you to reload the space rig. **Note that this may enable the mod. **
**11. **To enable or disable mods navigate back to the modding tab.
**12. **Locate the mod you want and select it on the right hand side of the listing in the check box.

This should cover mod use for 99% of players.

After a windows session transferred save back over to steam and it downloaded all my mods over again n enabled all the soundtrack mods n i had to unclick n reapply to get the one i want, is there a way to just completely save the mod settings or do i have to do it again each time i switch because of save transfers? weird question probably i apologize

Well, if you do maths in your head fast enough, there's a mod that shows how much damage you've dealt, with accurate numbers. And if the total damage dealt by you exceeds the creature's remaining hp, it shows that remaining hp as dmg

There are a few variations of that type of mod in approved (unsure if updated yet for latest patch), however, note, all 'beneficial' anomalies (doublexp, mineral mania, golden bugs, extra gold veins) are disabled in those..
Search the mod site for approved mods of current version with the word 'mission' in the name and if its there it should show up

I don't believe anyone has figured out a way of reliably getting more than four Dwarves in one lobby with a mod. I believe it's due to something on the Steam side of things that we aren't able to modify with mods. But you're freely able to control the number of players up to four 
any idea why installed mods (that work in previous instances of the game) aren't starting when starting a new instance of the game?

Make sure you're not enabling any mods labeled as outdated. Anything not updated for season 02 is gonna crash ya.

Max game size is 4 players. If you just want to cap it at 2 or 3 players you can set a password or make your game private once enough people join I suppose? There isn't a mod that I know of that adds a player cap.

Or require people I join need to have it?
It'll make your lobby modded, and the clients need to join your mod
flashlight is optional so it won't force clients to install it, but it will still show up on the mod list

It'll work for you but not the people that join you and it'll still display as modded and it'll get disabled if you join a non modded game.

I manage the schedule for a streamer. By using the twitch integration mod on stream at some point last year, our saves got migrated to 'sandbox' mode even though that's the only mod we used, and now even though the twitch integration mod is marked as non-sandbox, our progress since that point is stuck in a 'sandbox' save
Is there a way to get this migrated/fixed

every single time we start the game now it tells us we're not using any sandbox mods and provides a list of our saves which are older/not even including our latest saves (since our latest save was stuck in sandbox all that time)
I'll let someone more knowledgeable chime in on your question. But just a recommendation that you may benefit from keeping backups of all relevant save files on a periodic basis on behalf of your client. You could do this manually or set up some automation to streamline it. That would reduce your risk exposure for any future hiccups back to your latest backup. I think DRG itself has some limited save rollback/recovery in it too.
That's a fair recommendation after the fact which doesn't help at this point, and also what decade is it again? (Manually backing up save files/folders--rofl.)
I make automatic backups and manual backups. Haven’t lost a file since high school. Standard practice is 3 copies of a file stored in 2 separate locations 1 of which is off site.

nothing tailor made AFAIK but Swarm Size Control and Custom Difficulty both let you tweak things. Swarm Size Control is much more accessible but offers less fine control, while Custom Difficulty lets you control so much to a fine degree but you need to invest time into learning the terms/JSON

Work has been slow, so I’ve queued up a ton of mods to download when I get home tonight. Then I get to spend some time figuring out which ones will and won’t work
You likely have an older/outdated mod running. (note that some outlier mods that still work after being disabled can sometimes cause issues even after a restart such as Faster Mining/Thickaxe if you had those installed.)
Be sure to unsub from any mod that is oudated (not updated as of say May 2nd, but possible April 28th can work)
- you will have to go into each mod on your subscribed list 1 by one to see their last updated date.

How are certain sounds cue files changed in pitch? I am creating a cue file for the LockOnRifleLocked_Cue file with no pitch shifting, but when I test it in game it pitch shifts like the normal sound. Any ideas?

I don't think there's any functionality on the modio side of things for collections, sadly.

The mod talks about disabling the prospector event, why do people dislike this event so much?
In high modded difficulties, the prospector's spawns can easily wipe a team. this is a problem since prospectors can be aggro'd by accident by any stray shots in the fray and can even aggro repeatedly (spawning tons of robots) by hitting environmental hazards even when no one is near it

why does the mod hub come up as package invalid? I just downloaded weapon heat crosshair and it automatically brought in mod hub and drg lib as dependencies but they come up on the right as invalid. Is this because those mods havent been updated for the new update even though weapon heat crosshair has?
That ingame popup thing is just modio website failing. Usually a 'disband group' (to reload the station) fixes it, or a game restart.

just recently switched over to Steam version from gamepass and looking at some mods. Can anyone recommend a few of the best verified mods? Any "must haves"? I'm not trying to change the game up much, but am interested in things like the weapon heat crosshair. Any other cool QoL mods like that?
Your best bet is honestly going through the recently updated.(april 28th and forward) and looking for yourself. You know your tastes better than we do. As a veteran I personally like stuff that adds extra vanilla challenges. Such as dreadful ending which spawns bosses on extract.
wouldn't something like that be Approved vs Verified? i play with others so am trying to make sure i don't alter their game. as i understand it, Approved alters the game for everyone, but in an approved by GSG way, while verified mods just my game, right?

Correct
You'll notice the system is a little restrictive though. A lot of cool ones, even ones that only provide cosmetics, end up as approved due to rule lawyering in the approval guidelines. Your best mileage imo is to dip your toes into approved. Just so you can customise your experience the way you like.
Cosmetic restriction remover for example. It merely allows you to use your unlocked cosmetics in more ways. And although this is completely optional and no advantage of any kind is provided. Because it affects everyone in the lobby it is approved.

Hey, I was trying to join a friends server which he had mods installed, however there was no promt asking me to install his mods on his server, nor were any of them I could see or hear. No matter if I restart the game, join the mission, join the lobby and install my own mods it never matches to auto download his mods when I join his server. Anyone else have any issues like this?

Those mods are usually verified and verified mods dont prompt for download
Just ask your friend about the mods he has and then download them yourself. It's the only way.

Hello. I need assistance with making audio mods. Note that I'm only just now starting (although I have some experience with other games) so I've been following the audio modding guide on mod.io. Where I'm stuck is the part where I create my Pak file using DRGPacker and then copy it over into the game's Paks folder, but then it immediately crashes when I start it up. This message is shown in the crash window.
Fatal error: [File:Unknown] |Line:220| PakFile was frozen with version FPakInfo::PakFile_Version_FrozenIndex, which is no longer supported. Regenerate Paks.
Is the issue related to DRGPacker? I originally downloaded it from the link in the guide less than a week ago but now it's grayed out. Also, since there's mods I've used that broke with Season 2 but have since been fixed, I'm trying to find out what I did wrong.

I've never seen that exact error before but maybe make sure you're using the updated tools.
Are you using Unreal Editor 4.27? I would also grab the latest version of the drg tools from the guides-and-tools channel in the DRG Modding Discord (linked in #fan-communities) and then try packaging everything up again.
Yes, I'm using v4.27. I'm also trying with the replacing cues method, if that makes a difference in the steps.
Shouldn't make a difference. Just make sure all your tools are up to date and you're not including anything you don't need in your pak. Other than that I'm not too sure.
If you still run into the error, maybe post your question in the DRG Modding Discord as well, you're more likely to get someone who can help over there.

The souls games handled gender pretty well. Aside from voices changing, your armor obscured your character 90% of the time so you couldn't tell the difference anyways.

More feminine hair and other option for sideburns, mustaches, and beards besides facial hair, like jewelry, is really all that is needed.
Face, body, and voice is shared by all dwarves already. Why would female dwarves be any different?
The dwarves also don't have nipples so I'm not even sure these female dwarves would have breasts. But that still might seem weird in dawn of the dead armor.
Androgynous is the way to go since some female dwarves would want to have beards too. Just let people make what they want.

You can usually change the physics asset to change the collision for models. I tend to just use the vanilla collisions to eliminate any desync issues though (especially since the mod is most likely going to be verified).

I think it depends. if it's approved then I think yes, but stuff like audio or models is client side only

There's a new mod framework for loading Blueprint mods that's being used now. Mods that depends on BPMM are old and haven't been updated anyways.

like sometimes my game just crashes on startup (without any mods that are known to crash my game)
and ill have to reinstall all of my mods again

Both of these mods are outdated. Season 02 changed engine versions and old mods are gonna cause crashes. They're marked as outdated for a reason. Check for mods that have the 1.36 tag on them to know if they're updated or not.

I was messing around with Light Control (keyboard rgb) apps, mostly with Aurora
And well, that sucks that DRG lost its Razer RGB integration because there's no way to have light control for this game anymore

apparently making a light control integration mod would make it functional again
Although I'm not a modder and even less of a coder, some modder that loves RGB might wanna take a peek at it.
super niche mod idea: removing the cosmetic "outcrops" that mineral veins have, only leaving the terrain chunks of it visible, like when they're on LOD mode, so it's harder to miss little bits when mining

Fmodel could help you there. It can read inside .pak files. just have to point it to the directory with them in it

This might be more mod.io feedback than discord feedback.. but... Is there ANY way that the #modio-feed channel could be split/filtered in some way such that: 1 channel for autoverified purely cosmetic/audio mods, and 1 for 'The rest' ?
It's just difficult to keep an eye on that channel for new interesting mods, or for updates that are rare for other certain mods... in the FLOOD of audio mods that get a new post/update every time someone wants to tweak a volume on a sound.
I'd be interested in anything that could somehow reduce that update spam clutter of the same mod over and over.

At this point I mostly just check the mod.io site itself. By default you only see the most recent new mods rather than the most recently updated mods which is already helpful to check now and then. But on top of that you can also filter mods by approval type including different settings for verified or auto-verified mods.
Question if I use the mod Cosmetic Restriction Remover does that mean anyone who joins my squad also have to have it or it works independantly?
I know at least for weapons that other players can see your weapon skin as it appears on your screen when it comes to that mod. As far as I know it should work that way for armors too but I haven't verified that myself.
people can see the cosmetic changes you make without dl'ing the mod but they cant make those changes themselves without dl'ing it
cosmetic restriction remover just lets you use the existing cosmetic assets in a slightly less-restricted way. i'm giving away my age here, but it's sort of like how in quake 3 you could mix and match heads with different player models by editing a config file.
i guess there was also a console command for it, in case editing the cfg was too scary.

Unless it has changed recently, approuved and sandbox mods disable achievements (verified mods are fine for earning achievements).

Does anyone know if a "Now Playing" mod exists?
I've been playing around with some music mods and occasionally I find myself listening to a song I'd like to look up and listen to outside the game, but sometimes the mod has a long tracklist/no tracklist at all
how do you use the "custom difficulty" mod? all of the links on the mod page just take me to githubs with stats written out, and ingame there aren't any buttons I can press to actually change the difficulty to any of the given ones
I pressed all the buttons on my keyboard, and as far as I can tell there isn't a hotkey to assign the mod difficulty
on the mod workshop page it has a picture of a dropdown menu, so how can I access that
Have you checked if that mod has any dependencies? Have you also pressed 'h'?

I assume the gruntTutorial is a separate entity for bugs in the tutorial level, although I don't know why that would be separate from just regular grunts

and the Pheromone_NOFX seems like a regular swarmer with a pheromone cosmetic but I also don't know why that's its own separate thing
Those are EnemyDescriptors, which aren't enemies themselves, but specify how enemies are spawned. I believe ED_EggSpider and ED_TunnelSwarmer are both swarmers, for example. They are just spawned from different triggers and may spawn swarmers in different quantities.

oh so ID is the actual bug itself and ED is just how it gets spawned?

long time player, first time modding - how do i know which mods will disable achievements / are compatible with vanilla players?
IIRC verified = anybody can use with no consequence
approved = might disable achievements, tags your lobby as modded, might mean some aren't optional
sandbox = requires a separate save, disables achievements, tags your lobby as sandbox
verified is all audiovisual, approved is rebalances, edits and mechanics, and sandbox is unbalanced, cheaty, or just not up to the dev's specs for what is and isn't balanced
I would like to know if approved mods (still?) disable achievements because I can't quite remember whether or not I got achievements when playing solo with approved mods

High quality ziplines is definitely Approved, it's only tagged auto-verified as a mistake.
Auto-verified is a tag set by the author.
It's because when audio/visual only mods are "auto-verified" by the system they aren't given a Verified tag.
So we asked them to make a Auto-verified tag so they could be searched by category.
But auto-verified and verified mods are considered the same category.
Just the Auto-verified tag doesn't make something verified if it hasn't been auto-verified by the system.
