Would be cool if someone made a mod that made fire actually illuminate stuff around them.
Not sure how taxing on performance that would be though
i think changing the illumination needs to be done at engine level

They can just add it in whenever they want. Unreal already supports DLSS, so I think all they need to do is turn it on. As for RTX, I think they said that textures and some other things would need to be prepped to support it.

is there an easy way to see if specific mods are limiting the performance? My fps go down from >200 to 40-60 when there are many enemies alive and i have the feeling it's one of my mods

You will get promotion achievements - they will just only pop up when you disable the approved mods and reload spacerig.
You don't need RTX in 2021, even in 2020 it was too early with current technology and lack of proper video cards(thanks to crypto miners). Change of lightning doesn't improve image that much and could only lead to massive performance problem/fps drop. FPS is only thing that matters in current action 3d games. Visuals are hitting ceiling for like 3-4 years already and nothing changes.
Is it possible for a mod to remove that ringing sound after an explosion? I suffer from tinnitus and that sound makes it spike :(

why is it forcing me on my sandbox profile if i dont have any sandbox mods loaded?
Because DRG doesn't automatically switch your savefile to "Not Sandbox" if you disable/uninstall all Sandbox mods.
You have to do it manually through Options-Save Menu- find a save that isn't Sandbox, press Load, this will restart the Space Rig and clear up the Sandbox status.
Another option is that you have [AimedForVerified] mods in the list; if such a tag exists on any of them but not Verified/Sandbox/Approved, then it hasn't been checked by GSG yet and defaults you to Sandbox mode.
dear devs, please, explain WHY?
The problem is simple and scary at same time, I will try a simple language:
- my purely clientside mods moved to "approved"
- "approved" mods only work if host uses them
- No host uses my "approved" mods, which are -I remind- clientside only
- I can not host because of bad connection
- I can not activate my clientside mods even in modded games I join any more
This update deleted any support of pure clientside mods, if they were moved to "approved".
It KILLED modding.
We are working on an Approved (but not required by all) solution for some of this but it will take some time.
Don't know what mod you are talking about, but I am assuming it is the flashlight: It is in approved and not Verified because it changes the way a players plays when they at it active.
They do not need scout as much, or throwing flares as, they can locate stuff way easier.
Part of DRG's game play is: Darkness - and since mods that lights stuff up interferes with game-play elements, they will not be in Verified.
Your client-side mods that do not interfere with game play and are Verified will still be active in modded games.
Also just to add: We have explained this to you a lot of times now. Stop asking for an explanation repeatedly just because you do not like the answer.

Is that intended or bug: when you use modded game (not sandbox, approval and verified only), all achievements are tracked in a game, but not on Steam?

Depends on the mod - mods with the type: Cosmetic/Visual/audio can be if they do not change anything else than audio and graphics stuff (there's an in-game filter for it) But as a general rule: No
mods that only affect visual/audio stuff are automatically considered verified by the game

By the way, I have a suggestion to add profiles for mod screen: what it does is simly allow you to quickly swap enable/disable mods, when more mods will come in the future it will be more hard to handle and enable what you need. This also will allow you to make preset for certain gameplay you aimed.
In this profile selection you will have options like: No mods, Profile 1, Profile 2... (may be custom named)

Custom swarms mod is actually insanity. Yesterday I had more than 100 detonators spawned at once, all stalking towards me with their hideous growls it was great

I really wouldn't worry about crashing unless you install multiple mods at once. For instance, I installed 5 or more mods and always crash on the first attempt. Just had to reload the game and everything was fine though

I don't know who to say this or how to make it clear, but...
for example:
the minecraft head packs how mix all heads
classy tools and traversal for all
rythm and soul
I think making these mixed mods could be a good way to "increase" that limit, but IDK nothing about modding and coding
but being like mixing good part of some mods, and maybe using the blueprint menu to enable and disable some of these mixed mods features if you don't want one that comes into the "modpack", is this possible?
an more complex example would be the minecrafts heads mods, but in this case, you don't just mix all the heads, but you mix the pickaxe, the tnt, the torch flares, maybe add some minecraft musics, and it just taking one mod space, instead of something like 4 or more

Verified - no; other types - yes. With Approved mods, you can disable them to get achievements retroactively if I understood it right.

you can disable them by unchecking the boxes on the right of the modding tab. You can also straight up unsubscribe from them through the same button you use to subscribe in Mod.io I believe
If you're crashing from broken mods, delete the mod.io folder in c\users\public
Or wherever the public user folder is on your computer

Speaking from experience, when you start playing with mods that up the difficulty, you can't just go back to playing vanilla and expect to have the same level of engagement. It's best to just walk away from the game for a while, take a break, and then come back and try haz 5 again.
I used to run a custom wave setup that gave me a normal wave size every minute, plus regular enemy spawns.
I doubt that vanilla will ever overwhelm me as long as I have ammo

I find I have to restart the game once or twice after making mod subscription changes for it to work.. that being said, make sure you have the blueprint mod manager (verified) - as its required by most mods to work.
ive restart probably 4 times now while waiting about 5-6 minutes each time once in the game and theyre still not there
is there a way for me to remove the old mod menu so people can join my game now or do i have to have them download it too

You have the option to make a new save with all current progress, it's just a sandbox save

Just solo speedran a Haz 5 mission without a single nitra drop used (trying to get the achievement) while running the Display Events mod (so I don't miss any cosmetics), and I didn't get the achievement.
There really should be a notice for anything that will impact any kind of unlocks.

TBH, I think someone at DRG just gets a dart board out and blindly decides what to label them based on the color the dart hits...
Up til about 12-18 hours ago, the QoL mod that literally just puts the angle readout crosshair from Gunner's zipline tool onto Driller's drills was listed as Sandbox. As if it were a total game-breaking mod and not an entirely innocuous quality of life improvement.
Its going to suck if a lot of blatantly overpowered stuff is just listed as ok and fine for balance
Mods still take time to go through GSG's manual approval, so I could see why the Drill crosshair mod gets stuck in approval depths.
What I'd like to ask is: what exactly about Karl Class makes it Approved?

Maybe that does fit, except it also immediately fits "Mods that dramatically changes gameplay elements" of Sandbox, which being able to pick and choose your loadout exactly is.
IMO, it's not remotely OP being able to see cosmetics while playing solo.
The alternative is missing them FAR more often, or requiring you spend 4x longer to scouring every nook and cranny to the same degree that a 4-man team can.
I'm not sure how "its much harder if I don't have the mod" works as a argument against it being over powered. Feeling like you could have missed something and that always being in the back of your head is great for gameplay
It's essentially just providing raw information, not too dissimilar to the angle-reticle drills mod.
It's just a time saver, but it doesn't impact the actual speed at which you can complete the mission, it just makes it less of a chore if you want to not play an elaborate implementation of creating a walking-sim minigame for the same result you'd get if playing with more people.
And if the game was intended to be easier with more people, it wouldn't have enemy scaling.
But the raw information is the game braking part. The whole point with them is they are random items you come across. Not side missions you are trying to find.
This is always the problem with qol mods, people add stuff that changes core gameplay loops qol because they get annoyed something is slightly hard

increases 15-20 minute mission time for acquiring such things to a 45-75 minute mission time just because you can't find anyone else playing the same mission, or on the same difficulty

Again "its not a slight change its massive" is not a good argument for calling it qol. If you find cosmetics to hard to find just mod them in so you have them all.

There's no alteration to difficulty, just an increase to the consistently ideal gameplay experience that the 4p was designed around.
Adding consistency does change difficulty.

I don't get how anyone can say that mod that changes how a core gameplay element works shouldn't be a sandbox mod.
I thought approved was for fun cosmetics and small changes like driller angles and stuff. Not making part of the game significantly easier (which you said as much)
Approved is for making things more consistent, cosmetics, and improving performance.
Examples for each:
Consistent: White flares for all (more consistent gameplay, easier to tell material at a distance without the color tricking you that one material is another. IE, gold looking like nitra under certain circumstances if an engie's red flare is by it and the viewer is at a significant distance)
Cosmetics: The shared paint job mods that let you use any paintjob you've unlocked across all of that tool/class/etc. cosmetic type. (This essentially defeats the purpose of unlocking 3/4ths of the paint jobs in the game, BTW. MASSIVE decrease in required difficulty to achieve the same cosmetic results. In fact, this is even more impactful to that aspect than the location mod could ever be in terms of time saved to be able to use all the cosmetics on everything you want.)
Performance: The removed ash on the radiation zone maps.
Technically, we can now also add QoL changes as well, now that the Driller's angled drill mod is Approved (yesterday it was marked Sandbox, which is utterly insane).
Especially considering that the half-cost nitra resupplies aren't even sandbox, they're just Verified.
Have you two actually read the official definition of Approved/Verified/Sandbox? Judging by how you throw the words "Approved" and "Sandbox" around - doesn't seem like it.
Verified is QoL stuff that doesn't change gameplay; Approved changes gameplay; Sandbox breaks it entirely.
All mods listed above (White Flares, Shared Paintjob mods, Angled Drills, Removed Ash on REZ) are Verified. Safe to use in any lobby. Imagine No Tinnitus being Approved. I'd just abandon the game in an instant.
Display Events is... iffy to say the least, but it should be Approved because it doesn't merit being shoved into either of the other two.
Karl Class should be Sandbox because it completely breaks the gameplay basics. Classes are based around their traversal tools and utility. Being able to change that immediately breaks any semblance of balance we have atm.
TBH, I don't see why anyone would be upset about the mod that lets you see lost armor and loot crates on the map being fair game in any circumstance.
With 3 or 4 players, just looking for enough nitra to feed your needs will necessitate coming across them anyway.
With 2 players, it's not great odds but not terribly low.
As a solo, your odds of finding it without expecting one player to mindlessly trudge through a 4-man job on his own is rather ridiculous, and that's what the mod would alleviate.
That is fair, but I do feel that being able to change how easy it is to get items that can be used in stock games feels a bit iffy to me
The far lower nitra needs and far less ground covered per minute is what causes the psuedo-exponential decrease to your chances of finding said items.
(especially if you're not playing scout)
Read the modding Dev logs, they explain their reasoning behind allowing slight changes to make it more easy or more hard in them
I get they have there reasons it just feels gross to me. Since In a online game when I get something I want to feel that everyone has to put the same work into getting it, other wise is just feels wrong. And if they are doing why aren't I?

I have deep rock galactic and when i attempted to mod it non of the mods are showing up in the mod menu in game and it just keeps saying This mod will be automatically installed when you are logged into mod.io in-game. but i already logged in via steam so I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do?

Wait, GSG still haven't reviewed Fast Machine Event Start mod? The only thing I have to say is "u wot m8". I would use it in a heartbeat, the default 5 sec timer is basically another "hold E simulator" but slightly less of it.
General request to GSG developers: you HAVE to be transparent and show the exact criteria under which a certain mod fits the assigned category.
For example, I can easily break the argument for Karl Class being Approved: It flushes class balance down the loo.
All classes in DRG are balanced via complex interactions a team should work in, including support/traversal tools. Even I, a fucking self-made balance mod developer, know that.
Imagine giving Gunner a Grappling Hook. Or Engineer getting a panic escape/easy to use traversal tool. Imagine giving Scout true AoE weaponry. Imagine giving Driller true single-target weaponry.
Karl Class does that AND allows you to mix and match to your heart's content, which enables some of the most broken combinations (4 Gunners with AC/Minigun/Grappling Hook/anything else will trivialise ANY content the Vanilla game has to offer).
If you think players won't abuse it and just experiment with different combos, that sounds about right... except this also means players are given tools to speedrun Haz 5 highest difficulty missions at lightspeed, and this can and WILL be abused. It's Jump Boots all over again - you won't need your team whatsoever.

I'm not sure I follow. if you played games on sandbox, that progress stays there. playing on your main, non-sandbox save will have its own progress

Nothing is installing. I've restarted the game, unsubscribed from mods, logged in and out, but nothing seems to work.

- unsub to all mods on modio site and delete account
- launch game with -disablemodding in launch options
- exit to desktop and delete -disablemodding from launch options
- go to "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local delete modio folder
- go to "C:\Users\Public" delete modio folder
- (Check "C:\ProgramData" and see if there's a modio folder, if there is - then delete it)
- launch the game

That would kinda defeat the entire purpose of separating the saves between regular and sandbox if you could transfer progress at will.

Beware, this mod might have problems with hits registering for everyone.
The whole reason the minigun's ammo/rof were made how they are was because the game has trouble acknowledging hits at 30 shots per second.
Some choices are debatable, especially on Cryo Cannon

For anyone interested, I did some tests with a 64 pellet Warthog. Constantly firing that gun produced a 15-25 FPS loss in Solo with no enemies around. 30 RoF Minigun also drops frames for anyone in the frame, to a lesser extent but it does.

Bullet Hell literally got two changes: 100% ricochet chance and x7 spread (was x6). It's the baseline changes and weapon mod tree that make it actually really fookin good.
in vanilla mathematically it could deal 20% less damage compared to no-OC minigun in the same builds
ATM I run ALL ZE FIRE on minigun + volatile bullets ALL ZE DAMAGE on Bulldog
yeah, it's weird how GSG implemented it and it isn't clear, but mods that only alter visual/audio and are client side only are auto-verified by the game even if they lack the tag on mod.io
I think they're even skipping over these mods in the manual verification process according to their guidelines on mod.io

You might want to perform the actions outlined in the latest pinned message in #bug-discussion. Waiting for mods to load for 30 minutes is definitely not normal.

Yeah. Options-Save Menu. Type in a name and press Save Current. Could always create a new one that way.

You can't apply sandbox progression to your non-sandbox save, banishing you from playing in approved/vanilla lobbies with all progression you've got here

if you're on sandbox, you can swap back to non-sandbox by disabling all sandbox mods, then going to the save menu and swapping to the non-sandbox save

I had an interesting experience with mods the other day
I installed Bug Planet and had it enabled, but when I disabled it, nothing changed
the hazard names were still different, and I'm pretty sure the gameplay was also changed
even after I uninstalled it
I quit the game, verified integrity of local files, and restarted it, which fixed the problem
When I was playing Starship Troopers Elite a few days ago I had a similar issue
The name for haz 5 remained "Haz 5 ST elite"
i didn't test if the gameplay remained the same tho
I just restarted my game and it went away
Bug introduced with hotfix 1 it seems. All difficulty mods do that now, since it seems the game fails to reload GameData correctly after disabling mods.
Devs are aware, I'm sure we can expect a hotfix early this week.
In the meantime, old-school game restart will work :)

Another case of folks not understanding how the system works. It really needs to be spelled out and pinned.
The better minigun mod has the category of "aimed for approved". That is a mod author set category. ALL mods default to sandbox until they are manually assigned a category by GSG (with some cosmetic exceptions). Until it says verified, approved, or sandbox as a tag it will default to sandbox.

turns out I got my FPS mods confused. There was one that wasn't loaded, because it needed to be updated. all good!

have a small issue with the mods and whatnot. 'sandbox' is perpetually ticked and grayed out. Is there a way to reset this?
If you have Sandbox mods installed: disable all of them. To see which mods are Sandbox, sort by Category in the Modding menu.
After that, press Esc to bring up Options, find Save Menu there and select a non-Sandbox save.

that was weird, just hopped into a sandbox lobby, dude was miner level 11 and had two mods installed, and was using neither of them, it was a regular haz2 mission the whole time
told him he should just enjoy vanilla DRG until he gets some OCs and progress, then maybe try some sandbox shenanigans
probably enabled it, got moved to a sandbox save, and disabled it but forgot to swap saves
to be fair, while most little additions do take a lot of effort, it really is just adding the plugins. usually there aren't any complications in that
that's only part of the job though

takes little to nothing away from those without vr, adds a ton to those with it
if it's easy to do, then it'd be nice to have

according to one of the developers of the vr mods, "Ooh, heard back from the developers of DRG this morning! They apologized for never responding initially, said the Reddit post was circulated a few times around the office yesterday and that they'll take a look at doing it and get back to me!"
so seems likely iF they don't run into too many small roadblocks

Helllo, Has anyone had trouble getting mods to work? No mods I sub to appear in game, but I am logged into to mod.io with my steam. It doesn't seem to think so, though. And I can't join someone else's game with a mod that says only the host needs it. I'm not really sure how to solve this
how do I fix the ERROR: failed to download? I'm not seeing the guide for that

- unsub to all mods on modio site and delete account
- launch game with -disablemodding in launch options
- exit to desktop and delete -disablemodding from launch options
- go to "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local delete modio folder
- go to "C:\Users\Public" delete modio folder
- (Check "C:\ProgramData" and see if there's a modio folder, if there is - then delete it)
- launch the game

Playing with oculus controllers( not even mouse/kb) in complex game such as DRG is living hell.
VR is usually for porn/hentai games and titles like beat saber/superhot. Exclusives like Half life or Elite Dangerous is exception.

I'd like to report an interesting issues regarding the game's sustainability:
By integrating the mod.io the game got a surprising DRM layer: Trying to play offline disables mod.io connection.
Because of it the mod interface doesn't load, all mods stay disabled.
I suggest you add a check if (game = offline & mod.io = offline) then unlock mod menu.
Is there a mod that makes Drop Pods ammo pickup refill 100% of ammo?
So the Swarm Control mod could definitely use a few presets, because even with trial and error I'm having a hard time getting through missions, lol
also it's gonna be hella hard to go back to vanilla, might always keep the silly mods on, like squeaky hammer and the BONK sound

both but it depends on the mod

you can get achievements if you only have verified mods, but approved and sandbox mods disable achievements while they are active

There's none, iirc it was found that editing resupply cost is just easier to do, faster and achieves the same result anyway.

@real thorn solo isn't that fun. You should try online with other players atleast once. You will never go back to 1p again
- with spawn wave mods or ST mod you will die solo fast if you only accustomed to singleplayer I think

I'm not one of them, but I remember more than one player being creeped out.
You can still play mods that have crazy swarm counts and spawns if youre experienced enough

quick question, but has there been any updates on the mod that was adding aiming through sights into the game?
i remember seeing in #modded-gallery a week or two ago but i haven't seen / heard anything about it since (and i haven't been able to find it on mod.io either, so i assume it hasn't been released yet)
so for music modding, does duration of a song matter? does it need to adhere to the original track duration if its a replacement mod?
probably not, if a song ends in DRG, it just restarts until there's a new phase, right?
