well MCR is approved, that adds an insane amount of new content and from what I remember you get lots of xp... but at the expense of much longer missions

You mean Mint? I already do use that. However, they''re marked as sandbox in that loader and it forces me into a sandbox save when I enter the game.

No, youre correct in using mint. You just havent applied the fix that's required.
In your game launch options on Steam, you need to add -disablemodding before using mint. Then it should no longer warn you about the sandbox/deprecated mods_P
(This is how mint works)
You might have to switch back to your regular save if you've been playing on a sandbox save

yeah mint has never cared about approval levels. You've always been able to join lobbies (vanilla or otherwise) with any assortment of approval levels mods

Yes the launch parameter fix
so i've heard that modded clients have a different save file, how can i tell when it's using a different save file and not the main one.
pause the game, go to options, then save game tab. You'll see if youre on a different save to a regular one.
If youre using the sideloader mint, then you should be able to use mods on a regular save. But if you havent done the launch parameter fix, it will prompt you to go onto a sandbox save.
whats the difference between hex and bp
hex modding you directly edit the asset and repackage it. its an easy way to make value changes to existing assets in the game like weapons
bp modding lets you do a lot more than just that, you can implement logic through blueprints
My friend gets ''kicked out'' of my lobby everytime I change from Agressive Enemies I to II or II to I. This might have started after I downloaded few more mods including Starship Troopers and Higher Enemy Cap. No one else seems to get kicked out. My friend gets kicked out or by this I mean it just sends him back into his lobby and is able to join quickly back. Anyone know what mod might cause this?

but mod.io is buggy for joining, it would be best if your friend tries to have exact matching modlist as you before joining, rather than relying on the automatic download
Is there a bug with mod presets? Aka the ABCD boxes on the top left on the mods page when you launch the game. Ever since I enabled some mods in B and cleared A, I can not enable anything in A anymore. It all gets reverted to having 0 mods enabled. So I have to switch to B preset every time I launch the game, because for some reason it also keeps selecting A upon launch. Already verified game files and they're all good, but the issue's still here. Is there a fix for this?
Unfortunately the last modding update made modding more buggy.
Mod loadouts were half removed and its a mess. Thats why you usually see the suggestion to use the sideloader mint.

@verbal drift responding to your message in the main chat about modding your game: I believe altering Flare cooldown will make all of your hosted missions tagged as Modded, but changing audio cues typically only applies on your end and won't get you the modded tag iirc

There should be mods for a shield placement preview (and I think one color-coding it as it expires for an indirect visual timer) and one showing the damage radius of C4s (with color-coding indicating if it will cause friendly fire or not)
Probably a stupid question, but how do I save a mod preset? I start the game and my mods aren't loaded. Also, what the hell happened to the old mod list that was in lobby? imo it was 1000x better.

I dont think there is any sort of time frame for fixes. Its all been quiet since the last modding hotfixes which broke things more.

Hey so whenever I go to join another dwarf's game, it says that I have to disable certain mods and to pick a save file blah, blah, blah but i only get around 5 seconds to do it before i go to a black screen leading to the initializing screen and back into the space rig by myself. Is there any way to increase the timer or disable it altogether? Asking here because I can't find a Questions channel
Im perfectly fine with the disabling mods and all that, its just the timer that i get before going back to the space rig is really quite annoying

you can press TAB anywhere on the space rig and it will pull up the mission selection page without mods. I dont know specifically if there is one that immediately spawns you at the table to select a mission
I'm on windows PC (so I can play with people on xbox), but all the modding information I can find is either two years old or for steam - apparently it is possible to mod the windows stuff, but I can't find an in-game mod manager, which the drg site says there is

xbox/Microsoft store version does not have built in modding like Steam version does.
To mod it, you have to use the mod sideloader MINT. But there are caveats, like mod saves (so things like settings etc) do not save.

I think thats only used while in mission? Like if you are on the drop pod ready to end mission, and someone else is not on it
Thats used when you first drop into a mission and a player wont get off of the pod, you can force send it back up. Helps when you need the droppod to leave so the max player cap can increase.

Sadly its not an issue with the mod, its an issue with the built in mod manager.

Its a bug with the recent modding updates. The in game manager mod.io constantly breaks and unloads mods randomly.

on desktop mode you download latest release, the linux-gnu version.
it will have a file called drg_mod_integration which is an executable, so you have to set it as an executable.
run it in a terminal like sudo drg_mod_integration

So I ended up with 125 mods installed... I just noticed a small text in game saying a maximum of 50 mods will be active when hosting a multiplayer session so will half of my installed mods be deactivated even if they are client side mods?

Mods arent broken. The in-game mod manager is what is broken/buggy. Mod authors cant fix anything here.
Youll see others recommend using the extern mod manager MINT as it eliminates these issues

does anyone else have this really cool and awesome issue where the game crashes without exception if you try to have mods enabled before loading the space rig?
it's a new issue it seems, wasn't acting like this last week
if i boot the game with mods enabled and try to load the space rig
despite having no mods to do with the space rig
the game will just crash and give a crash log with nothing to work with
but if i boot the game, disable every mod, then slowly enable everything one by one, it works fine
there's no conflicting mods, there's no broken files, a few are a little out of date but they work?
but drg seemingly just hates the idea of functioning at a basic level with anything enabled from the start
even though just last week i had more mods installed and it didn't mind whatsoever
i can't think of what could be causing this other than "the game simply doesn't want to work" and at this point i'm too irritated to spend another hour trying to trial-end-error my way to fixing a problem i haven't caused

You have used the mod sideloader MINT previously. To continue to use it you need to put -disablemodding in your game launch options on Steam.

yea but i shouldnt have to yk? these lobbies shouldnt show up at all if I have modded unticked. so if I (or other legit players) host, our lobbies will still be mixed with these idiots' inside the server browser.

pretty sure they can also cheat in things like resources and experiences too (and you only see the experience gain after the mission is finished).
Did you check the name of the lobby? Most using regular mint will still say [MODDED] in the lobby title
And yes, you can use any mod when using mint, so the lobby you have joined could do anything. But the in-game modding is a buggy mess and far too restrictive, thats why you get people using sideloaders. It's not great for both sides

Some of those mods are old and likely don't work. For example Remove Decals is 2022 and comments say it has issues.
When it comes to debugging which mods that cause crashes though best to take binary search approach. Disable half the mods, see if you crash or not. If you don't crash, then you know the crashing mod is in the disabled half. Repeat this process until you narrow it down to the mod(s) that causes crashes
I think I found the one causing the issue. it is low poly which is really a shame because I prefer how the enemies look with it over the original game and it makes me able to run the game on max settings

going through my mods right now to find out why the game is crashing
based on trial and error alone (the crash logs give next to no information to work with) i can only stand on the space rig for a few seconds before the game completely, if it even makes it that far

No, that feature is not enabled. So long as all your mods are verified you will show up as an unmodded lobby

yes, the mod sideloader called MINT (drg_mod_intergrator)
not mentioned on its instructions is you have to put -disablemodding in the game launch options on Steam, as the last modding update meant it can't do it itself anymore. that flag disables the in-game mod management and allows the sideloader to work

you haven't setup mint properly if it says sandbox mode
you have to put -disablemodding in the game launch options on steam
if it still says sandbox, then you need to switch back to your regular save in the pause menu -> options -> saves

there are quite a few that attempt this. whether they are successful is a matter of quite some debate
probably the best known one that most specifically attempts balance is Vanilla Weapon Adjustments.
There are extremely popular weapon "rebalance" mods like Slightly Better Everything which do change the weapons but not really in a way to make the weapons balanced. for example Slightly Better Everything makes the absolutely baffling choice to change barely anything about the autocannon except to slightly reduce its recoil and change its terrain carve size from 90 to 100 (???)

It seems I also am having this problem, I can play with mods I last had loaded but I can no longer edit or change my mod list as it keeps saying I must "agree to terms and Conditions" but no dialog box ever loads
All I get is this now. Last time I accidentally got the terms and conditions dialog to pop up by trying to join a modded lobby and the next time I launched the game the popup worked but that seems to have been a fluke. I don't try to change my mods very often but it may have started around the same time as other users started getting it on the 29th and I only just ran into the issue now.

You'll need to check the allow outdated mods option to use it.

mint is giving me a code 404 "You do not have access to this resource" when I try updating the cache, but all the mods I have still have mod.io pages, and have had downloads today. Any way to figure out what mod is doing it without removing and re-adding everything? (I have quite a few mods) Would making duplicating to a new profile and deleting from there work?

It was throwing an error earlier (admittedly I have been having this 404 error for a while and just ignored it) and the OAuth token has since expired so I renewed it. No change in the original issue though

I had already deleted all my other profiles, I had no mods listed anywhere in mint
anyway, redownloaded mint, and ran the fresh exe and it seems to work
I did find what appeared to be Server Filter by Region mod having the issue in the past? which I did have, so maybe that corrupted something for me
If this happens again in the future, some people have reported that deleting the cache folder can clear the error
I had tried that as well, without any luck, though it also didn't appear to be creating a new one, and just complain that it couldn't find the blobs file
(I did a mix of removing just the cache, and the entire cache folder)
Oddly enough though, the new exe is using the same default cache path... but its working now, despite the old cache still being there 🤷♂️

Correct. Pressing uninstall mods deletes the single file from your game so none of your mods load in-game.
The minus icon removes the mod from the profile. You have to press "install mods" after doing this to apply the changes.
The toggle button keeps the mod on the profile, but turns off the mod from installing. Again, you have to press "install mods" when you do this.

on mint there is update cache button. press that, then let it update your mods, then press install mods after that

On my cases there's that notification where the game inactive the mods for safety reason but I enabled it and restart the game. It works just fine.

Mods can break with updates. If the mod creator doesn't update, they will remain broken. There isn't much you can do.
The game has built in mod management. Pause the game, go to "Modding" tab, press the "To Info Screen" button and there you can manage mods. You no longer directly download mod files and put them in the game install folder.

~~I used MINT in the past, then swapped to official mod.io integration. Due to the recent change to Quick Pickaxe from verified to approved I'm back on MINT but the mods functionality is back to the old framerate/ping related behaviour instead of utilising the updated 2.0 code that made the settings obsolete.
How do I fix this?
I already manually swapped to version 2.0 inside MINT instead of leaving the slider on the default "latest" version.~~
Fixed after the 5th try of disabling then reinstalling for whatever reason
Assuming you have added the -disablemodding launch parameter as that is required to use MINT now

with the new mod menu (which also causes a ton of other issues that didn’t happen prior to 5.10) I have to cross-check the space rig mod list with my normal list of mods, then go into info screen, re-enable those mods, and go back to space rig and hope that they are actually loaded
if they aren’t I have to restart and do everything again
I have to do this every time I play, there’s always at least 1 mod that gets unloaded somewhere
and there’s no legitimate way to do rollbacks to 5.9 on steam
