That's not how it works
Approval levels are set on mod.io. MCR is set as sandbox, so you'll be prompted to use a sandbox save when you install the mod.
To use MCR on a regular save you'd use a sideloader like MINT
MCR has pretty much always been approved. It just disables non account leveling achievements like any other approved mod.

I'm surprised MCR isn't sandbox but I guess it's a special case since it's basically a whole new game
And I've noticed that the new modding changes breaks often when you use sandbox mods, I've had sandbox mods enabled and it never prompted me to make a sandbox save so they were working on my normal save (my lobby was marked as modded in blue correctly though)
Not a massive fan of modding, only for certain games, but are there some not-so-crazy QoL mods to help with, let's say, see the damage done?
With that being said, can players with mods play with players without mods?
There are quite a few damage indicator mods.
And as for your second question, it depends on the approval level of the mod:
- Verified mods: you don't appear as modded, you can join other players just fine
- Approved/Sandbox mods: you appear as modded, you are prompted to disable mods if you join someone else who does not have the same approved mods (or are not using mods)
Most of the damage indicator mods are verified, so you'll be able to use them and join other vanilla players just fine @restive drum

Some mods are outdated but still work fine, so you have to enable the "Allow outdated mods" option when you're installing mods on the info screen

Entirely up to you, if you'd like those additions then go for it. Since you're looking to join other players who aren't necessarily using mods, just check they're tagged verified and you should be all good.

Alright, so I've tried it out. It's nice! I made it so it's not merged, so weapons that deal DoT (like the Breach Cutter) and shotguns are silly number generators!

I don't see any steam patch notes but been encountering this mess since yesterday.
Sequence 1: launch game > all mods are disabled > goto info screen > activate them again > play game > close game > launch game > all mods were disabled again >
Sequence 2: launch game > all mods are disabled > goto info screen > says no mods installed > mod list is empty and refreshing doesn't do shit > shut down game > relaunch game > get either Sequence 1 or Sequence 2 (50/50).

I have sandbox mods installed but from what I've read, the game would have prompted me to make a sandbox save, and it has not done that.

Im using nobaraOS(linux) and im using mint, what happens is that i had to look for a fork of the original mint repo, and for some reason, it wont disable my mod.io subscribed mods, if i dont disable all of them, i will load my mint modlist and the mod.io list. And if my mint modlist is installed, when i click in mods inside the game, my game just crashes

also, the host must have the mod or noone will hear your shouts/dialouges
if you are using the one with multiple options (i forgot the name) or choose more than 1 sound for keybind, everytime you press a random one will play

when you copy URLs from mod.io (https://mod.io/g/drg/m/) you'll see it puts #description on the end of the url. Just remove it manually, so a mod like https://mod.io/g/drg/m/mits-sentry-laser#description becomes https://mod.io/g/drg/m/mits-sentry-laser
then add that URL to mint
i tried using a ingame method to get the urls
it did not return me anything

i recall you being able to like customize the enemy first and last name or smt
so if you put like "Jack" in the first name and "Daniel" in last, chances are enemy might be named Jack Daniel

the new method causes mods to be loaded earlier during game startup than the old system, which fixes a certain type of bug related to mods not getting fully loaded/unloaded

You do have to have a mod.io account, but this is so you can make an api key for it to be able to fetch mods

extract it somewhere you want
run drg_mod_integrator
press cog icon
press cog icon next to mod.io
click the blue OAuth Token text, this takes you to the mod.io page where you make a key
put the key in
then check the DRG folder is correct (should auto detect)
close settings, then put mod urls into the box
need to remove the #description part of the link to work
and then before pressing install mods, make sure you've put the -disablemodding launch option on the game on Steam

depends what mods if they are compatible with current version. even though most mods that are outdated still work just fine
personally I've ran over 130 mods at once with mint and dont get crashes from it. It's usually a mod that causes the crash

As of today, Mint doesn't allow you to add new mods anymore. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE UNINSTALL YOUR MODS until the issue is solved. You won't be able to restore your mods. Updating your cache seems to work.
pak files are still working.
Also do not uninstall your mods as we might be forced to only use paks and we need backups of popular mods

Exe is located where you extracted the zip. It doesnt put a new one anywhere

does anyone know what button it is to open mod settings? like, the tweaks for existing mods, for example i am trying to use Massive Content Revise but i am pretty sure it makes corpses not despawn, a friend told me that there's some kind of setting i can toggle to turn that off but i dont even know how to begin to get there.. and that friend is currently offline now

but Massive Content Revise is a different menu, pretty sure where you spawn in on the spacerig there is a dwarf on your left where you can change all the settings

I mean MCR (same mod as above convo) does this as one of its features, because they redid the multiplier setting, but if you mean specifically just more objective items, I'm not sure there's one for S5, the last one I saw was on S3 and is current day broken
Yeah MCR multipliers only work for missions at the terminal missions instead of a custom mission, im tryna make a big ol challenge run with a bunch of side objectives and up to 6 dreadnaughts. Wanna go for like 500 morkite and 300 dystrum amongst other things too.
Custom Difficulty if it's still updated, might be your best bet (paired with More Secondaries mod)

if you're joining other people then its also slow if your connection is not great + it has to load the cave from the host

Is there a mod that makes it easier to see when my Engi turret is out of ammo?
I'm also new to Engi and I keep forgetting that my turret needs ammo and the indicator is just far too unnoticable amidst the chaos
There are quite a few alternative UI mods for all ammo indicators including engineer turret ammo, but I don't think there is a standalone one

using nucleus coop unfornunately somehow disables the modio mods

if you have a lot of mods and you're using mint, it will timeout for 60 seconds after updating a few because it was made too strict with mod.io api limits

outdated mods are not guaranteed to work
karl class fix mod is nearly over 300 days old and there have been game updates since then, comments say it doesn't work
karl class doesnt work consistently due to how they are editing inventory lists in runtime
apparently the current test build works with brighter object
only somewhat as it ignores chosen settings, but next build it should work fine as i wont be replacing the debris and instead just edit the vanilla values that i need to change

mint has different mod load times than official blueprint spawning, which causes issues with some blueprint mods depending on how they are coded

so if you join random lobby, that setting allows the modded one to be excluded so you are likely to join vanilla
well with mod.io your lobbies are marked as modded if you are using approved/sandbox mods
but mint bypasses this and that's why you end up with the above, vanilla players joining chaotic modded lobbies without being told they are

Hi All, I've recently started hosting large modded lobbies and when there's lots going on the game can start to lag - despite the RAM, CPU and GPU usage all being fairly low (25-60%). Does anyone know what could be causing this? I understand that it's going on when there's a lot of entities, which would be implying a bottleneck of some kind, but nothing seems to be under any particular load. 😔
I don't want anyone else to have a bad experience, but don't know what I can change to solve this. PC Specs: GPU: RTX 4080 Super, CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RAM: 32GB 6000MT/s, SSD: SN850X 4 TB M.2
Supposedly the bulk of the AI processes are done on a single CPU core in an async manner, so it just kind of overloads one part of the CPU instead of utilizing the rest.
I will be making a mod that helps a lot with performance loss from a lot of enemies, but that might not be for a while as I have other projects to prioritize. I have a rough draft of it and tested to know it helps a lot, so I know it is possible but I need to build more functionality and multiplayer support. It is unrelated to async stuff though.
As an alternative to most other difficulty altering mods, I have made a system that makes enemies smarter in a never before done manner (AKA no conflicts) that will make enemies lead your location and cut you off, spread out a lot more and keep escape routes sort of blocked off. They pretty often ambush you around corners and such now. It is way more difficult to survive even without more enemies or enemy buffs.
Said system is host only and no one else needs it, doesn't require custom AI or enemy replacements and such. Should be fully compatible with all mods. It is not released yet though.

Nope. Seems like you need to be online so that DRG can verify you are not fiddling with the clock. This sure makes getting Oveclock acquisition a lot harder.

there might be a mod way to do it, but i imagine it needs online access as you said for clock and the mission seeds

you can play DRG offline, but daily deals, deep dives and weekly assignments are tied to servers on GSG ends
not much tbh. we don't have access to c++ code modding, only blueprints and hex edits (directly editing values in game assets)
so if you're talented like banagement you can make kind of insane stuff like massive content revise, but overall the modding for this game is very limited compared to other games imo
my guess is there is probably a flag to check if you are online, the logic might be able to be bypassed and allow you to put your own seed/time/whatever the online requirement is and then continue to play those assignments. i might look later into it, can't right now

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if the reason you need to be online for the dives/weeklies to update is because their missions are the same for the entire playerbase, and the game needs to be told by the server what those missions will be so that everybody has the same missions
it doesnt need to though. drg isnt pvp. its not competitive in anyway that matters. there should be an offline version of weeklies and dives
hell, isnt there a set pool of seeds they pull from for the dives? why cant that be ingame?

Turns out my mods needed to update but I was trying to join some friends at the same time.

ran through a bunch of mods - and went through setting things up correctly to make things run as lag free as possible
stuff like reducing the number of entities through several mods whilst simultaneously increasing the number of bugs
use the sideloader MINT
there isnt really a mods folder
well
its weird. you can put pak files in the game, but then your game is sandboxed. but if you use -disablemodding launch option, then it doesnt sandbox you anymore.
mint lets you install mods far easier than the in-game modding menu, and technically you can get the pak files that way
idk. i really wish i didnt have to recommend the sideloader, but recent updates have made in game one worse
there is a modio mods folder you can manually add mods to without issues but downloading the pak directly is an admin level permission on the modio site for some reason
extremely inconvenient, but it wasn't what I was asking

You can do modding all in game. Pause the game in spacerig, go to Modding tab, then go to Info Screen button. Then you can browse and subscribe to mods.

its like the game takes over what i can do with my mods, and when i use the integrated mods browser, i can't exit it every second time
then every third time i open mod menu i have to agree to privacy all over again
the previous way to maange mods was far better imo
it is more broken than it was before. it's very unfortunate
others here (and myself) would suggest using the sideloader mint if you're wanting to have a better way of managing mods

In short: the update isn't about skins, but the developers have crab claws, so they decided to hit the top two reasons to play the game
from what ive read, from what i consider a reliable source, that being banagment, the modding part of drg is being worked on by basically an intern that volunteered to do it. they started working on it, had a stable implementation, some things got changed? intern went on vacation. theres a better intergrated modding update coming, we just gotta wait for it
(this is just what i remember from reading discord posts like 3 months ago, trying to find the actual post. dont quote me on this)
pretty sure those are the changes that have come and gone already.

Do the generated missions bug out the matchmaking system
like when i use mission generator
it says i have no mission selected when people try to join
they still can join, but it says i am still in the space rig while displaying the mission timer
does this mod have this problem as well? Or did you find a fix/work around?
Honestly that’s a good question. I haven’t really tested through the lobby browser yet. We did a lot of testing with multiple players to make sure it worked but that’s a particular thing I haven’t tried yet since all testers joined through steam

So I'm an achievement hunter and have like 5 left to finish the game and i want some maybe approved mods so will they affect me getting achievements?
I really want to have all secondary objectives, and maybe some way to have difficulty+ modifiers. Hope they are not sandbox ones
Turn the approved ones off when you go for the achievements then turn them back on when you have them.

The other problem is that I've got not much of a good pc so it can struggle to give more than 5-10 fps during big swarms/lithophages/core stones so I'm not that much sure for now

I dont really want to or feel like it should be discussed here. You've probably seen their comments on the performance mod.
I think there is a level of maturity id expect from both community and leaders within modding and its been failed time and time again, its put me off from continuing to make mods and I just wish there was a resolution and things could move on
there are two sides to the story and I think mistakes were made on both. you can look into it if you want but just bare in mind there is bias on both sides. I decided to try and not take a side and treat it as something that happened, but its been brought back up again, and not in the nicest way

it makes the drillvator a lot more fun because you can just hop off the elevator to actually fight bugs and not shoot them in a barrel. The problem I have with it, is that I'm too busy shooting bugs and running around that the clawtracks break and I have to run back. It also messes with the bug AI so if you just sit on the elevator it's actually easier to defend than normal. That is solved with Haz5+ speed additions. But if you don't want to deal with Haz5+ just hop off the drillvator

not publicly no. the last hotfixes didnt really fix it overall
for some reason, it only turned off the mods for me 1 time, now it doesn't

also having terms reset randomly
or some mods not installing even though it says they are
