Will adding mods increase lag?
depends on the mod. sound, cosmetic, and number tweak mods have no affect. Any BP mods, like UI mods or gameplay tweaks will have a small impact. Mods that increase bug / player count, or add new content will have the biggest impact.

Hey, I've been wondering about how modded lobbies are labeled. Most of the time I see them like this, and they only display if I check "Allow Approved" in the server filter settings:

it doesnât have a way to activate the official system of marking a lobby as modded, even if you use mods that affect other people
So sometimes people will get annoyed that they joined a modded game because they didnât read the giant [MODDED] in the lobby name
versions exist without that MODDED tag too
well those versions are not official and are discouraged by mint devs iirc
blaming mint devs for that is like blaming GSG for cheat engine

If modhub has issues and stuff the community doesnt like cant it just be updated?
modhub and the game's modding system are two different things, modhub does get updates but the game doesnt because that dev left and they never got replaced
so when your mods get randomly uninstalled and you have to restart the game 4 times to get them all back, or your outdated mods got disabled even when you told them to stay enabled, or they dont enable/disable properly, that just doesn't get fixed because that's not a modhub problem, it's a problem with the built in modding system

I personally use the ingame modding system and I don't have the issue of mods randomly disabling themselves or having to restart 4 times to get them all back. Worst I have is having to sometimes re-enable one of them that's seemingly a bit buggy. And it's just a cosmetic one so it's not even a big deal.
Guess i'm just lucky

I don't think I can explain it in a simpler way. the ingame built-in modding has mod categories and each come with restrictions. MINT ignore those.

I joined a salvage mission lobby and a freaking dreadnaught spawned after sometime and it didn't have modded tag. Died like bunch of times (we were 2) helped the host bunch of times then rage quit after 5th or 6th death
My class wasn't configured for elimination mission inside of a salvage mission.
That's a normal event in the base game. Random dreads suck because you waste a ton of ammo on them and get nothing extra for the trouble.
If you're particular about mods, the best approach is to host your own lobbies or be prepared to leave if you don't like what you see.
DRG is P2P and has limited regulatory enforcement, meaning there are any number of ways you could end up in a nonstandard lobby no matter what you do.

did you also check the steam cloud though steam ? Asking because it's not the most obvious solution

o/ all, I have found out just how terrible gold is compared to anything else, and wanted to make a personal mod to boost it a bit. Right now itâs supposedly 2cr and 2exp per unit, making compressed gold roughly equivalent to a bismor cube. What would be a reasonable level to put it at? Leaning towards boosting EXP over CR on it since minerals are so crazy valuable on the CR side.
Maybe just make it minable in one hit.
Even smoother, make gathered gold skip player inventory and go straight into MOLLE
I've been on the mod installing screen for a solid 10-15 minutes and I've already restarted the game so what should I do
Its 2xp and credits at base but it never is as low as 2 due to the multiplers haz 5 you are sitting closer to 5-6 each not much either way
I probably wouldn't go beyond like 10 at base
Even then it might be a bit silly with the multiplyers

Use carver, select proper shape and material (not all work), then left click in free cam
yeah i don't think the spawnable mineral chunks give more than 0.1 of each resource

Because there is a sideloader that bypasses the approval system.
It only works for the initial/landing drop pod because players were sitting in there forever. While I agree that verified should not affect gameplay in any manner, the category has been more relaxed over the years. Devs generally seem to be fine with it.
The categories are based around guidelines not definitive rules because there is a bit of subjectivity. Twitch integration was approved by a developer. Developers themselves have made it clear in the past that mods can be approved even if they seem more fitting for sandbox if the mod offers a unique experience. They dont consider spawning lootbugs as cheating.

Mint caches the mod in some folder, try doing a windows search. Or download the mod directly from the modio page, I think its available for everyone now.

eh, looks like it's a bunch of files with no extension stored under appdata\local\drg-mod-integration\cache\blobs with a json in the parent folder saying which is which

ok, each of the files with no extension are actually just pak files even though they're called blobs for whatever reason, so you read the json to figure out which one you need, rename it to [whatever].pak and load it from file, shrimple
Oh of course but then again cheaters will always find a way to cheat and there are plenty of methods to cheat. Personally I dont think we should axe a mod because some people will use it in the wrong way.
Not that it really matters because people only cheat themselves, its not a pvp game or anything.

I barely play vanilla nowadays. The QoL mods re-upped my interest in the game quite a lot. The lobbies with more players and crazy spawns are what I play on most of the time. I just jump into a vanilla lobby once in a blue moon for a refresher.
I just joined a lobby that was listed in the unmodded servers list (I only play unmodded/verified personal mods only) that said it was Silently Modded? It was immediately obvious upon joining that it was heavily modified and the guys were blue level 2300 and stuff

Just to be clear, I've been playing DRG on an off again since like version 0.29, have about 1700 hours in the game.. and am blue 940 something.. and I was mainly a casual haz 3/4 player (these days haz 4/5).. its very possible to be a blue 2000, it's not an exponential curve, its the same 1-25 and promote/restart every time.

The 2300 rank is not abnormal, infact there are ranks much higher. But yes, it is against the games intentions to allow modded gameplay in an unmarked lobby. With the rise of a 3rd party mod loader tool this occurrence is becoming more frequent.

Not sure how to phrase this... but I was considering using mint to play with mods like 'Brighter Objects [Add-on]' which appear to still work when I join non modded lobbies (thus being client side like a verified mod). However, will this cause the mod to be active for friends when they join my lobby? Because its through mint I assume the game won't prompt them to install those mods, so it would essentially stay client side only for me right? What if they had the approved mod installed through mod.io, would it get disabled despite me as the host having it through mint?
I suppose a simpler way of putting it, is that within our friend group, we don't really mind if each other plays with approved mods, but don't want to all be forced to play with their effects. So would hosting with an approved mod (through mint) apply it to others, or not, or would it vary from mod to mod?
As I understand it, the mod itself will not be sent to clients, but other data that normally gets sent to clients from the host will reflect changes made by host mods. So for example if the host has mods that spawn extra enemies, or affect mission rewards, the clients will also experience those effects. However, if the host spawns a modded enemy from a mod that the client doesnât have, it will be invisible for the client but can still damage them. Or if the host has visual mods installed, the clients wonât see the visual changes.
ok, that's what I assumed. I guess knowing exactly what data normally gets sent will just come down to experimentation. Something like 'One Hit Gold' or '2x weapon ammo' I would assume would be purely client side. But something like 'Air Control' might not be?

The weird mixes are mostly if the mod adds or changes significant content
the one I see most often is custom difficulty reducing resupply nitra cost but clients without custom difficulty still canât call until there is 80, though when they do call the resupply it only consumes the lowered cost

Is there an updated version of the h1x64 enemies mod that makes septic spreaders and stalkers spawn more? Because I still only get like three or so of them.

for me, it's mostly getting used to the new aggressiveness of the spawn and being hyper aware of my surroundings. also pack some ammo, be very mobile, and build something effective against large crowds. took me some time to get used to it.
Since CRSPR has aspects tied to FPS, wouldn't this technically make performance mods able to be considered "Approved" instead of "Verified"?

Fix for Deep Rock Galactic mod.io subscriptions not working:
Try the following:
unsub to all mods on mod.io and delete account
launch game with -disablemodding in launch options (right-click game's title -> properties -> general tab)
exit to desktop and delete -disablemodding from launch options
go to "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local delete mod.io folder
go to "C:\Users\Public" delete mod.io folder
(Check "C:\ProgramData" and see if there's a mod.io folder - if there is - then delete it)
then launch the game
create new account on mod.io by agreeing to terms and click install mods (and connecting your steam account)

if you're using mint to manage your mods, don't use the ingame integration, put all the mod.io links into the mint "add mod" text box at the top, make sure the game is closed before installing
if you want to go back to ingame mod integration, you need to click "uninstall" in mint and everything should go back to normal (should be right there next to the install button)
Heyo! Sooo I crashed once when joining a friend's game, then every other time each time I closed the game, it apparently crashes with this error... However I don't have any mods installed as far as I'm aware? Yes, I did use a few mods in the past such as the one that shows the kill count and mineral count during the missions and a sandbox one, but that's about it?

I've been using the ingame mod menu up until now but one of my verified mods keeps getting deactivated each time I close the game and open back up again. I assume it's cuz mod doesn't have 1.39 tag (but still functions normally)
Someone mentioned mint mod manager in drg-chat way back that prevents this sort of thing. I might try that now but the one I found on github (v0.2.10) has [2023-08-18] date on it. Is that the latest version?

Sort of. Check out Mission Selector mod, you can replay missions based on seed, including deep dives. The challenge is that the cave generation code in DRG can change from release to release, so the older the seed is the less likely it will match the original deep dive
So in order to solve that, there needs to be a way to be able to play the exact version similar to that deep dive?

does anybody know which mod enables you to spawn cargo crates, extra matrix core cubes at events (I canât believe I donât know what theyâre called after this many hours), custom bulks etc? I use spawn hub which doesnât affect which save I run the game off of and Iâd prefer an option where I can just run the mods on my current save without having to swap

guys, is there a mod that can generate very large caves? about 150 meters long and 80 meters wide, something like that.
to my knowledge, the only mod that changes map gen is M.C.R

and the only thing it actually does with the generation is use already existing preset and smash them together with a lot less restriction than the base game.
It does work wonder to make very unique cave though, and I've came upon extremely large cave in my playtime with it. Such as a +200m long magma core cave, which also happened to be mostly empty (terrain wise, with almost no hanging pathway). Was kinda eerie.

For older versions, yes. As of 3.00 there are actually custom map layouts for the new mission types. I am still limited to existing room options though as creating new cave rooms from scratch is very much not viable without the actual development system to do so.

@shell inlet I think I asked this before.. so please forgive me; if I use MINT with MCR.. I know it wont play nice with people in the lobby.. but if I'm IN the game/mission, does it play nicely? Everyone needs the mod, if you are using mint then all joiners need to be using mint as well as it disables mods if using modio and trying to join your mint lobby. So either everyone needs to be using mint and with MCR or everyone needs to be using modio with MCR.
So if they try to join mid mission, it will crash them out?
At the very least, yes. MCR is like 90% custom assets that are not in the game.

@jagged fern you need Build Inspector to be able to see what other builds people bring in a mission. It works even when joining a mission in progress.
And, with the help of Combined Presets, you can switch to one of your prepared builds on the class selection screen based on what you see that your team is using.
this way, you can choose builds based on the team comp even when joining missions in progress

Yeah, since there's a limit to how many drones you can have active at a time, and spawning a new swarm kills off any still-active units, it would be optimal to only throw a new grenade when you don't have any drones out anymore.
When the swarmers start biting your ankles throw a new one
actually suggested a shredder rebalance a minute ago - engi gets 8 of them, but spawns one at a time and they don't despawn when thrown.

The game will tell you when you're switching to a sandbox save. And yeah, when you switch back, you'll pick up where you left off with your normal save.
I haven't used the mod you've mentioned specifically, but it's not tagged as sandbox, so it won't make you switch to a sandbox save.

The modded tag means that you have an approved mod installed, which players will be prompted to also install upon joining your game.
[MODDED] means you're on an approved or sandbox save - though normally sandbox servers are hidden until you enable them in the server browser

I usually play haz 5 with 2 ticks of more bugs and agressive and then 1 tick of toughness. Roughly how much harder would 6x2 be?
on reddit I saw a mod which gives mission with mission targets about 4k morkite and multiple mission targets at once.

I'd say probably if you could imagine the step from haz 5 to where you are now, the step from there to 6x2 is vaguely similar, though not exactly the same kind since you probably already have sufficiently good combat fundamentals like movement and positioning. The main new challenge will be swarm pacing and playing fast i think. Maybe dealing with more special/disruptive enemies
Other than the swarm timers, you would definitely notice a higher amount of enemies (like applying another 2 ticks of more bugs), but it's less than 4 players of more bugs 2
Bugs in 6x2 are individually less aggressive (they are like between aggressive level 0 and 1), but there are more of the dangerous ones, and especially more stationary enemies like spitballers
that would be Massive Content Revise, and it does a lot more than just that. Lots to explore in this mod.

- download and set up mint, if you don't do this you'll be stuck into the modded server category and literally nobody will join you
there's a download and setup guide on github https://github.com/trumank/mint but if you want the latest and greatest version you can get it off of the drg-modding discord #fan-communities message #709825862672973866 message - use mint to download custom difficulty https://mod.io/g/drg/m/custom-difficulty (and any other mods you want) and hit install
- get a custom difficulty json, either from the cd github https://github.com/trumank/drg-custom-difficulties or the practical drg discord, paste them into the custom difficulty text box in mod hub
- select your difficulty of choice and enjoy

there are a lot of GPU performance mods like remove particles, but are there any that would decrease the CPU load

What happens if you have a custom vanity mod installed and join a server that does not have that mod installed? What do other players see?
from experience, if you're using pickaxe back blades on the front blade, that replicates fine and they see the same thing, same with normally unselectable armour paintjobs (like changing the paintjob on the elf armour to another)
but anything else like using the "wrong" paintjob (weapon on armour etc), or even custom paintjobs/frameworks, looks the same as stock
So if I'm using a custom hat, it'd default to being bald or something?

the only thing that can get you banned is another player personally clicking on you and pressing the ban button which only bans you from that one specific personâs game
Yeah, there is no moderation system in-game. Players can only kick or block you for themselves.
That being said, please don't do that unless the host or others in your game agree to it.

I have somewhat recently encountered an issue where shredder grenades only appear to sometimes actually spawn shredders, and while I had recently added the Shredder Swarm Watcher mod, I have since removed it, but am still having the issue. Anyone else experiencing this, or know if verifying game files / a re-install would fix the issue?

Update: got in contact with the person who had been experiencing it a month or two ago, apparently its a bug with shredders when you have Nvidia Reflex enabled in the graphics settings and disabling it has made them work again for me
Can having outdated mods crash your game?
I had outdated mods that boost fps by removing small details like mineral chunks etc, and when i tried those mods on a diff config than the usual it crashed my game when i was about to fight a glyphid grunt horde

I am not sure if iwant weapon heat or not, I'm used to just looking at the weapon for overheating

A cosmetic mod that has a nice gameplay QOL is this one shield effect mod, forgot the name but I think it's gunner shield effect replacement or along those lines, made by a chinese user
It makes it look cooler and it's also easier to see through
There is also a mod that makes ziplines and grappling hook lines glow if that's your thing
And for engineer players a mod that color-codes platforms based on the effects they have (such as fall damage or repellant)
I have tons of QOL mods that dont effect the gameplay balance at all and are clientside but I dont have my PC right now so I forgot some of them, I use the same ones as you though
If you have a hard time seeing while drilling as driller there is a mod to remove terrain particles when mined
As well as a C4 radius mod that gives it an easier to read, context sensitive blast radius indicator (if enemies or friendlies are inside it changes color and can be customized)
Alongside unique status effect icons there is also a mod that makes the icons drain to show the duration
Mission stats shown in game is another good one (shows kills, minerals mined, etc like on the end screen at the bottom of your screen in game)
And finally a mod that allows you to find doretta's head with the laser pointer

I've been looking at the Doretta mod for a while, but last I checked, it didn't work on S5 yet

Question about the greedy texan mod, does anyone know if his voicelines are synced between players ? Like if I hear him say one voiceline, will my friends also hear the same one (like how it works for regular mission control) ?

I quite enjoy the 'Refinery Pipe Qol' mod. Mostly for the ability to more easily place pipes in awkward spots, but the pipe colours (disableable) are nice when playing with others with the mod to more easily call out which pipeline you are working on

the default colours follow cmy so i remember which pipeline's which easily
i also like seeing the broken pipe locations without opening the map

The game has suddenly started to keep asking me to accept mod io ToS on every new boot, even after accepting all my mods are greyed out with no way to activate them,

My kids' Steam accounts have parental controls enabled and one of these controls is preventing access to mod.io from DRG. I have enabled the highlighted control but, apparently this is not sufficient. I assume it must be one of the lower tick boxes?

a fair number of modded difficulties use it, i think it's probably a better enemy than stalker
but that's just my opinion
they are both very high priority threats but the fire bomber has more consistent counterplay
you can dodge its bombing run and shoot out its sacs, stuff like that
meanwhile yesterday a stalker just took a full revved up minigun to the face and a power attack and still hit me

By default, do mods ban you from unmodded lobbies and connect you to other modded players? Or are you just banned and have to find and connect with other modded players?
Under intended circumstances modded lobbies are filtered out by the server browser unless an option to view them is enabled. Approved and Verified categories of mods allow people with and without mods to join (if they have them visible) but Sandbox mods cause a complete segregation from standard save files and matchmaking. Sandbox saves can only find other Sandbox save lobbies if I recall correctly, that or they are prompted to switch the save file to normal and disable Sandbox mods.
Unmodded players can find Approved lobbies but not by default (and rarely do join), so a fair chunk of users do different bypasses to not be marked as a modded lobby to get random people to join as their lobby shows up normally. This is mostly due to lack of random joiners and difficulty doing LFG.
Verified mods alone (so no Approved) do not mark the lobby as modded and can freely join unmodded or modded lobbies without disabling the Verified mods and show up normally in the server browser.
Looking for a mod that adds more filter and sort capabilities to the Server List. I've found "Server Name" and "Server Filter by Name/Region." These have a little synergy where if everyone used the Server Name mod the same way then I might be able to use the second mod to filter.... Anyone know of a way to filter by Biome, Mutator, Classes, etc?

I am curious, i know there's ways for modded lobbies to not be marked, but how come lobbies that are marked still show up when the filter is on? Is the filter just... Not actually functional
what are some verified mods
There are two types of marking:
- Official game integration which will show large blue text saying
APPROVED MODSand is supposed to respect the filter. If it doesn't, that's a bug - Sideloader lobbies which do not show large blue text, but can show
[MODDED]in the small text (lobby name). If i recall correctly, sideloaders are unable to access the game's internal method of marking a lobby as modded, so they cannot use method 1. This also means they cannot respect the filter.

Is there any reason that my mods might randomly uninstall in bulk?
I swear every so often ALL my mods are disabled and I have to reinstall them again every few days

i love eraserkaiser modpack + swarm control + mcr
i recently popped on "Remove All Particles But WeaponsNTools", which ive mostly liked as its made the game a bit smoother and moreover cleaner, but its also removed the particles of the dirt being kicked up by bugs spawning, but i find that to be a very useful warning and now, without, i feel this mod has made the game just a bit harder. has anyone else gone through this? is there a list of mods i could use that would do all that the prior mod does, excluding the spawn particles?
