what mods are crashing my game
I played a few games with them and now it won't even start one
Seen a bunch of people disabling brighter objects
So when i use mint my server always appears as modded correct?
But if i join other people or a friend it wont impact the lobby right?
It only counts the owner?

Yeah sounded like it's a bit random, probably just some specific object that's not always present that it's having issues with
ive seen some people saying shout framework is causing problems
but that was low on my list of things to test today

i got simple azure weald working fine
hollow bough hasnt been available while ive been at my computer this morning, so cannot test that yet
heat crosshair, remove particles, no ragdolls, and hold to bhop are probably the huge ones im looking out for

If you're a DOOM guy, then you can make all of your viewmodels centered like the old games
mod creator fixed the issue with weapon presets too, they are positioned properly

Mint is only responsible for helping to load the mods, it does nothing to help mods not crash if they are incompatible with season 5, mod authors will have to fix that.
What is Mint? It sounds great, I'd like a more detailed modloader, but I'm seeing people say that it marks you permanently as modded? Does this affect achievements, etc.?
the only "mark" is when you host a public lobby, it puts [MODDED] at the front regardless of your mods atm
it's eventually planned for it to go off of whether or not you have approved/sandbox mods in your list, same as the built in loader

You don't need to test it, current version is known to crash in certain sitautions, the mod author is kindly working on a fix
Brighter objects had an update 4 hours ago, and mod author says the crash is not from his mod
but is asking people to play without the mod, to further test

You may have to do some bisection, i.e. disable half the mods, find the half that doesn't crash, then keep dividing in half until you identify the problematic mod

I was able to join a game after disabling both Brighter Objects and its Add-on
going to play drg mod free just to not crash midfight
Anyone else stuck on a permanent, "Agree to terms of service to gain access" screen when going into mods? I already know some mods are gonna cause issues, but it doesn't help that I can't even get in to deactivate them

I disabled brighter objects and it stopped crashing. so that's definitely the culprit.

So uh...only four jet boots on the drillevator, meaning any additional players get left behind lmao
the easiest way to get around this is to have a mod that allows jet boots to always spawn during deep scan missions
maybe the crate could spawn in the geode itself
i would say to have the jet boots in the crate be the same ones that you get from the drillevator but im not sure if thats possible or not

ie if i equip flamethrower colors on a gunner gun, afaik that has always been visible to other players right? the page currently says that you need the mod to see that and i dont rember it being the case

well like . how different would its behavior be from existing enemies
Funny how brighter objects worked perfectly during experimental testing
some simple, others more complex. one's an amblypygid that reuses arbalest attack, just with fewer fireballs
another is a camel spider that rushes you, every consecutive hit deals more damage
my dream is to have a mactera dragon, fire mactera revisited
but that would prob take hours
there is a lot you can do stapling existing skeletons, animations, PRJs, AICs etc together. but if you are making an entire enemy from scratch, that is a ton of work that requires several unrelated skillsets
all glyphids use the same rig, right? it's evident with stuff like the stingtail (the main tusk being the "head" in the rig) so animations, rigging, etc wont be a problem
the amblypygid would probably require an edit for the mandibles
but with one rig as a base, adding in a few more bones won't really be that hard
right?
what are the unrelated skillsets? 3d art?
all glyphids use the same pathfinding algorithm, so that's fine
really, i can tell every enemy shares some code between all of them.
i won't have to code any attacks for the 2 glyphids
reuse arbalest for one, the other is just more speed+effect
the spawning i can rip right from the game, the ferox (camel spider) would be a disruptive and the scattershot (amblypygid) would be a spitter
i'm sure stuff like the armor would be more of a challenge

nope - I tried making one, but the game doesn't expose any audio events so I couldn't get it working.
damn. wonder if ghost ship would be ammenable to adding something along those lines
if they had an event on the enemy for OnSoundCuePlayed or similar - then I can do everything else. I just need to know when and what sound the enemy is making.
or if there is an event that does that but I missed it, I would love some assistance from a dev to show me where to look. :)

its been a year since the last major update so depending on the mod author it's possible some just won't be updated if they broke
most popular mods tend to update fast though cause people complain lots

Does anyone found out how to make Magnificent Molly's new UI, so that Molly changes skins on every mission? With the old UI it was easier to manage.
for example you can check multiple biomes and it will take one of your skin at random for those biomes
so far I have no specific biomes and no skins selected, so I guess it would go completely random but instead it's same appearance on every mission
or should I pick every biome in order to achieve that...?

I had that issue with damage text during experimental and when I disabled it, it launched perfectly fine

disable half of your mod list, launch and then see if you crash mid-game
launch a solo match and run around for a few minutes
if it works without crashing then enable mods that you disabled one by one
and do the same thing
until you find the mod that crashed the game
if it still crashes after disabling half of the mod list, disable half of it again

well the crashes happened around after 10 minutes

and yesterday
today we reached the core in dorreta mission by predrill
and as i was lighting up the cave
and bugs started spawning (lookin at log)
it crashed

okay nvm regarding the dependencies I checked that I have to like update the overlying instance but what about the updating part?
If the mod you've enabled isn't on the current version and it gets updated, then it should still be enabled once updated though you will still have to go to the mod tab to update it and reload the instance

What happened to all of my mods? They're just... gone.
I know some of them obviously broke with the new update, and I went through them to see which ones were broken so I could keep those disabled, but the game just recently crashed on startup, and when I went to open it up again, all of my mods suddenly disappeared from the list.
Did the game straight up remove them all?
Ok, nvm. For some reason the game is redownloading all of them again.

mint is neat but it is worthless if you only plan to use verified mods, at least until it gets an update
in the current available build, ANY mod will force a [Modded] tag onto your lobby, severely changing and limiting how many players you will get and the kinds of players
a PR exists to fix this but the mod hasn't been updated in months
its a neat modloader that solves many issues with the current modding integration, but it is worthless for verified mods unfortunately

The code still receives updates, but goddang the compiled build is damn old. I tried compiling it with a rust nightly build, but my compiled build just crashes the game.

Why do I need to reinstall all my mods (51 total, but only really using 18 at a time at most) everytime it crashes?
I had to remake my mod playlists multiple times now, but it doesn't really matter since i have to re-do them every day anyway
I'm pretty sure I've read something about DRG auto-disabling mods that it deems to have caused the crash, but I don't know if you're referring to that or if you mean that your mods are just straight up gone.
It doesn't disable them (I would be fine with that), but instead it seems to uninstall all of them (also deleting all mod lists in the process) before reinstalling them again when launching the game again

mint only enables/disables/installs/uninstalls what you want it to (what a great concept) so you can very easily resolve crashes
Actually I should be clear; I'm pretty sure DRGlib was causing the crash because it was trying to access a sandbox mod that was no longer enabled.

Simple QOL has a variety of small things, preset framework and weapon presets lets you make individual builds for your weapons. rancor's rig HUD gives you a nice readout of the missions with modifiers. Weapon heat crosshair makes it much easier to manage weapons with overheat mechanics. combined resources peeks in everyone's pockets and lets you know when you have enough for a resup/ objective. also you should get DRGlib and Mod Hub since a lot of other things are dependent upon them. there are lot more you could add but that covers a lot of basics

if it works the same way as mod.io (steam) modding then there are different types of mods, optional mods are able to be used by anyone, and required mods have to be used by the host and everyone else in the lobby to work properly

One of your mods may have been removed from mod.io. Unfortunately current mint is not able to tell you which one, so you gotta just find it yourself

Unfortunately it is just not really possible with vanilla due to how ragdolls are coded. Plus vanilla ragdolls would brick performance & enemy spawns very quickly if they did last indefinitely. I did a ton of optimizations and custom everything for them in MCR.
Hm unfortunately I keep ragdoll duration on low both for a performance boost and for visual clarity.

hi there. ive been getting some critiques about my mod using ai voice. the voice has been ethically trained and uses miku's voice (whose voice actor, by default, has consented to you using her however you like). im not sure what to do

Probably with the alternative mod loader - Mint. Official mod integration disables multiplayer if mods are loaded locally and players can't join the lobby if using a non public mod unless you specifically invite those players to the team on the mod page.
Although modio may have brought back the temporary access option for mods so you don't need to add them to the team.

I think, not 100% sure, that you need to use a mod manager for DRG to do so. I don't think you can change the order with base game n' modhub.

using the dwarf-to-kobold voice mod w/ mint and it works fine, but it makes it so that the settings' sound bars dont work right and instead makes everything unbearably loud or completely silent

Some audio mods have audio issues with mint but not on official because they pack in some broken audio assets which are not properly loaded with official but are loaded with mint, which causes the audio issues. The audio mods will have to not pack broken audio assets.

I think steam achievements are disabled when you play with approved mods but all other progress is still normal, only sandbox has separate savefiles
And none of this applies to mint (third party mod loader)

It lets you download any mods that are on mod.io
It allows you to load sandbox mods on normal saves, get achievements with approved mods and also host a game with approved or sandbox mods without someone else needing to download them and in the same way join someone while having approved or sandbox mods loaded. Some mods while have degraded functionality or be completely nonfunctional in this environment though, so keep that in mind. If a mod makes server-side changes it won't work unless the host has it loaded.
ohh and all this is actually like accepted by drg?

If you want to use it I would mainly use it to load client-side approved mods when joining others (or not forcing others to download them when it's not necessary) and/or to bypass the 50 mods limit when hosting. Since mint can do it there obviously seems to be no technical limitation on it
I mean you can use it to cheat progress but that's up to you if you would want to experience the game like that. And save editors and steam achievement unlockers exist anyways so it's not like this loader single-handedly enables that or anything

There's a setting in the game's mod menu labeled "Auto Disable Outdated Mods" might wanna tick that off.
Though there's always a chance that outdated mods that still work might cause conflicts.

hey odd request but my bf enjoys the game but really struggles with egg missions bc the tiny vines and bits where the eggs are set off his trypophobia. are there any mods that exist currently that could remove those? (not talking about the larger purple structure just the surrounding details)
I don't know of any for that specifically but you can use Mod Hub to toggle most of the excess environmental decor such as egg tentacles and such. Some of the egg goop is still present though due to it having collision in vanilla.

Modio does scan it, yes. But due to how mods work it is not entirely reliable. If a mod is reported for such then the author will likely receive harsh punishment.
Thanks, I thought so. Personally I do scan files additionally with an AV and VirusTotal, so if nothing comes back from there it should probably be fine. I would've been surprised had Modio not included some type of validation for stuff like that.

Hi I have a question. I am trying to make a mod which adds new resource which will be related to new game which will essentially replace Flappy Boot.
However when I was inspecting how inventory works in general I discovered something odd. I see all the items but there is one that isn't displayed anywhere in the game.
There is an item, it's GUID is {972A712A-18C6-4B7A-9DC9-CE9CE34B0219} and I have 205 pieces of it but it is not an item that could be viewed in game in any way. What the hell is this?

i bought drg on steam yeterday and yesterday everything worked, now today i got an update and i crash if i join open lobbys i dont know what is wrong

No, you can't really check which UUID corresponds to which item, you can just guess by modifying the amount and seeing which one changes in the game, this way you can determine all other resources
However this one is different as it doesn't show anywhere in the game
I guess it could be error cube or something and I simply didn't unlock the correct terminal but as far as I know I haven't collect any of the new items

Hey is it possible to launch the game and have all my mods enabled from my last play session, because every time I launch the game I have to enable my mods again which is less than ideal. Is this just a thing I have to live with, or is there a way to keep my mods enabled?

The mod menu is driving me crazy at the moment. I have two mods (heat crosshair and pickaxe recharge widget) that required DRGLIB to be enabled. It is. Yet I can't enable those mods, because "a dependency is disabled or removed"
Pickaxe hasn't updated to the most recent version so it might just be something out of date there but I was using heat crosshair last night and now it's disabled
Also just in general is there a better way to select and manage mods than the inbuilt modding tab? Because to be frank it's kinda a pain, especially for getting things to enable and stay enabled consistently and not having to completely reload and start picking mods again if I want to use a different one of the four preset slots (would be nice if the copy and paste option you have for loadouts was also available for mod lists)
Figured out my dependencies issue at least: pickaxe also requires retrograde mod spawner, and heat crosshair needs mod hub. The tooltip doesn't mention those, just DRGLIB which was already enabled.
I find mint a lot better than the mod.io menu ingame, and you can configure and enable/disable mods outside of the game too
both mods were working fine for me on season 5 btw
yeah the heat crosshair thing is apparently one of my presets had mod hub disabled and the other didn't, so one of them crosshair was fine. While in the other it stubbornly refused to tell me the actual issue

Been playing with verified mods, found out that pulling out a crystal nucleation cryo cannon applies a crazy ~1k/sec DoT to all spawned dreadnoughts in solo play. Equipping the secondary cancels the DoT. Has anyone had anything similar to this?
Disabling mods removed this bug.

1k sec dot would almost instantly be killing dreadnoughts so that doesn't sound true
Haz 5 dreadnought died in about 6sec (just invinc time really), twins die before 1st heal. Have old damage text on, boss hp bars,, several QoL and audio/visual mods (50). Nothing that changes damage or anything in the caves; all verified. I'll probably 1-by-1 find out which it is but was hoping someone else could narrow it down.

but it is not in the github, so i grab the normal haz1 and changed the "Enemy Encounter Modifier" and the "MinPoolSize"

Something is broken with the mod ui/ux as far as I can tell. I'm assuming it's something wrong on the game's end because I've started using mint mod loader without any issues.
Got sick abs tires of the game constantly removing and redownloading all of my mods, so I found an alternative for now.

I was looking at this weird cosmetic mod that makes the dwarves look like anime girls, but the change is tied to certain cosmetics. so, if someone just Happens to be using 1 part of it but not the other... it looks like a dwarf with the head of an anime girl and vice versa. This-as one can imagine-is not ideal.

Trying Mod integration, its not detecting my mods when I open the game
my game crashes once i open it after enabling any mods or sometimes when i join the game and after crashes in deletes all my mods and redownload it every time
I also need to disable half of them because it turns on all mods
it doesnt crashes instantly if i only keep updated mods but even when i use like 5 of them and play normally it still will crash once i close the game and open it again
