I've used an Approved mod in the past and it forever marked my save, I had to load a previous version of the save and lost like 20 player ranks just to revert it back to vanilla.
Granted this was a one-time thing about a year ago and I might've overlooked something. I just know I've stuck to Verified mods only ever since.

Yeah, if you're using Approved/Sandbox mods and join a vanilla/Verified lobby hosted by someone else, your Approved/Sandbox mods get deactivated for that session.
But your save is still marked as Modded regardless. Your Approved/Sandbox mods are just deactivated for that session so they won't impact anyone else, since you're not the host.

It looks like I was wrong on my previous statements about Approved mods, they allow vanilla progresision still, they just alter core gameplay in a few ways.

well I used to play completely solo and only like, 10 months ago actually used mods
so I mightve gotten some achievements without the approved ones but i cant really remember
i do know i got 2 recently tho with them disabled

MCR works better with ingame modding iirc, works with mint too, but every player in the game needs the mod installed, so keep that in mind.

(For more context, there is no x3daudio1_7.dll file in that path and since I did a clean install, it may be that there isn't supposed to be there at all.)

It's not about having problems. It's about having someone join your lobby who also has the mod installed. This is because the mod adds new things to the game and that makes it difficult for people who don't have the mod to play in that lobby. It's not impossible, but most things don't work as expected

@shell inlet Is it just me or does MCR have some forced changes that the user might not necessarily want?
I changed 90% of the settings to be vanilla, just kept the 10x objective modifiers so I could see what a 10x length mission would be like
But there's still the modded modifiers which I disabled, ore veins look weird, and whenever I equip my laser pointer, I can't press a weapon key to put it away, I specifically have to press CTRL to put it away again
And I couldn't use Iron Will or Field Medic anymore

Some things are not toggles, yeah, as it is extremely time consuming and difficult to do. Then it gets even more complicated due to multiplayer support.
Warning toggles work fine for me and others, ore veins looking weird (smooth?) is probably due to a Mod Hub setting for disabling unimportant debris. If it was smooth looking Morkite then it was due to a specific map layout used by the tutorial.
Laser pointer takes numerical inputs to delete specific waypoint IDs, so it might conflict if you have the toggle laser pointer option enabled (assuming that is a thing) but I do have plans to make a toggle to use a non numerical version. Otherwise, I have no idea why it would get stuck, I have never encountered it even with 100s of hours with the reworked one.
Iron Will and Field Medic work fine for me and others as well, this is the first report of an issue regarding them. I don't edit them in any way other than make them recharge 20m after activation.

A lot of overclocks in game are just minor numbers tweaks to damage/ammo/etc variables
i imagine that adjusting those values, using a mod, would be fairly easy
i'm completely out-of-the-loop, so what is the ability for modders to work with, (or create from scratch), weird OCs like Plasma Missiles, Minelets, Embedded Detonators, Goo Bomber Special, Snowball, Burning Hell, etc?

That being said, if you have a "beginner's guide" on how to accomplish some of the wackier OC modding you've made, i'd be really thankful

With how I did some of the more complex overclocks, it was through blueprint modding which I used information from the drg modding discord to help achieve :)
It was also a bit of trial and error, seeing if something worked and if it didn't I'd try something else, and repeat until it worked or failed.
Other than that there was an overclock framework guide that existed which I used to create said overclocks, unsure if it exists anymore but that was the biggest reason I was able to do what I did.
If I knew more Unreal engine I'd be able to make it standalone and not require the framework but it's kinda bound to it right now due to having basic knowledge still.
That being said if you'd like to do something similar to what one of my overclocks did I'd be more than happy to assist and share what I did if needed
Overclocking is kinda a gray area in terms of guides especially since the framework owner no longer maintains it so the best place would either be searching the drg modding discord to see if there is a way to do the thing you want to do in an overclock or asking
the overclock framework project has been taken over by Tweek (SipcoGaming), and he is currently writing up a new guide. not sure of the ETA for it, but it should be a lot easier to create custom overclocks with the new framework.

I just want to combine the status effects on Chaos Rounds with something to make Heavy Autocannon bounce... 2 times?
Partly for bouncy AoE explosive chaos
Partly because Autocannon does 0% friendly fire damage, and bouncing is crazy
Partly because i want a competitor to NeuroToxin Payload OC
I honestly didn't think that Chaos Rounds would be able to do temperature stuff, just "On/Off" status effects like Corroded, Neurotoxin, Pheromone, Electrocute, etc
ohhh, i believe the temperature is also a status effect which is how i got it to work, Id be more than happy to share what i did to get it to work
also there is a v2 revamp of the framework coming, it just needs to be approved so hopefully it comes with a guide

A natural or gruffer voice would fit best IMO

You could install it and test it out
@hard pine assuming your resupply cost is <80 nitra, you'll need 80 nitra deposited for anyone else to call a resup but it'll only take the required amount
so it doesn't really automatically download a mod (even if it is temporary, just for the mission) to their computers --- it's just that some mods can be host-only and they work fine. others that are "required" need to be manually installed into the clients joining
if you're using the built in modding system then yeah that sounds right
it'll show clients what mods are required and i believe let them download optional ones if they want

not exactly, but you could use Swarm Control or Custom Difficulty to set enemy health / damage scale to like 0.01. :)
they'll die basically instantly, and do essentially no damage to you.

the devs hardcoded in a limit to mission loading for 8 players, i think to fix some other bug. so you can only have 8 (often only 7) max in lobby when starting mission. during a mission tho there appears to be no limit other than the game not crashing because of other reasons.

by playing a singular mission that makes supply pods land in inaccurate locations and your scanner not work, your save will actually be permanently damaged and labeled as a cheat save (because)
i know you posted in the modding channel, but if you use -disablemodding launch option, the game runs a lot better. if you want to continue using mods however, ModHub has some good performance options.
an even better method is to use the third party mod tool, since that disables the terrible performant official modding, and still allows the use of mods.

Sandbox Utilities does, but it's a sandbox mod. if you're just looking to get b-roll or screenshots that should be fine tho. you can also speed up and slow down game time with it to get cinematic shots.

question. i recently switched to another modloeader that required me to get a key from mod.io. and since i have, i've noticed that the ammount of players visible when i click join are far lower than before. is it because of switching modloaders? or is it just coincidence?
the only thing that should be causing that is disabling season 4
when you turn off seasonal content, it hides lobbies that aren't hosting with season 4 disabled if you try to join missions by clicking join off the map

Please for the love of all things dwarf work on the modloader devs, it's so frustrating to use at the best of times. And being reliant on a third-party website clearly has its issues as seen above. It's the big thing keeping me from playing since after updates it's usually a three+ reboot cycle to get things working again every time there's even a minor update and it just saps the energy I have to play the game before I can even get a match in.
So I just switched from the DRG + Legacy branch to the normal branch, and the game had to reinstall all my mods. Once it's done installing I have to reload the lobby and apply changes. For some reason once I do that, the game will crash upon restarting the game, forcing the game to reinstall the mods again and the cycle continues. Any way I can fix this? I'd remove all my mods manually but I'm not sure where to start doing that.
instead of reloading, choose another mod profile with no mods in it, then it should reload with new profile and no mods active.

Sorry for the necro, but I am unironically looking a way or mod to make gold/nitra veins smooth-looking. Might you know how or which one to download? I join a lot of highly modded lobbies where the ground is just covered in gold left by a planet-size crassus and it's killing my FPS (but it's fun so I push through). I was wondering if it was smoothed out, would the FPS improve? I'm happy to do some testing. Again, sorry for necroing an old thread.
the texture on the chunks is just an effect, it doesn't have any performance impact. the chunks on the ground are what kills the fps. they all cast light to each other and the lights add up and tank performance with more than a handful on screen.

it doesn't hide them, it removes the actor from the game, so it's just not running any of the extraneous code in the chunks, like constant physics updates and lighting updates.
as a client it deletes the actor only for the client, as a host it removes them for everyone.

yes. you have to press Update Cache to check for mod updates, then Install Mods to actually download and install those updates. :)
it wont automatically do anything, you have to manually update. you can keep an eye on the #modio-feed to see when mod updates are posted. most mods should be fine for the new season, there are only a small handful with known issues. :)

there are many mods to decrease FX like dustless exclusion zone, reduced minigun flash during overheat, reduced shield break and blood when low on HP
But I've yet to see the more chaotic opposite- more FX: More blood, more dust, more flash

So the game deletes all mods every time I close it due to "them running while the game crashed" which appereantly counts as me alt+f4'in the game too. Is there any way to disable this?
don't use alt f4 to close the game? only ever click the button in the menu. or use mint.

Its because MINT has to wait a bit between API calls or the API gets angry, very noticeable if you have a big modlist
i have heard the newest mint version is significantly faster at updating your modlist but i've not bothered trying to build it cause idrk how

Manually. When you add a mod.io to the mod list, mint queries mod.io and caches the available versions locally (i.e. a snapshot). If you don't press update cache, then the snapshot will not change for existing mods. When you add a mod to your profiles or press update cache, mint will go through all affected mods and fetch info on newer versions for mod.io mods, which updates the snapshot for relevant mods.

Only if you want to check for newer potential versions of your mod aggressively. But otherwise, the local cache maintains the list of available versions for each mod that was returned last time the cache was updated.

In general, there is no way for mint to automatically determine if a mod will become outdated when a new season drops or if any game file changes. So mint is unable to. You'll have to manually bisect the offending mods when a game update is released (this is true for mods in general and is not tied to any mod loading method).

(1) mod.io API has strict rate limits (2) the music pack being over 1 GB does not help your situation. At all.
I had a problem with mods in drg, I haven’t played for 3 months, I went with a friend to play, I want to install a new mod and I should write that I’m in the mod.io ban, in order to contact technical support I need to confirm my email, but I can’t confirm my email I can because I’m in a bath, I used to be able to play with mods even when the account in mod.io was closed, but now I can’t even log into it only through the browser. I can’t install or play everything with Mdomi.

some mods do still work btw, like sprint by default

yes, but you can't remove it completely.

and honestly even the mods don't COMPLETELY remove it.
also, they don't affect weapons with recoil, those still cause screen movements.

a better modding menu is useless with mint. nothing will happen if you have it installed, it just does nothing.
What is the most efficient way to redownload all of your mods after an unrelated crash?
C:\Users\Public\mod.io\2475 make a backup of this folder - and just copy it back into place after the game crashes and deletes your mods (make sure to update backup when mods update) - or use the third party mod loader, which never deletes your mods. :)

general disorientation honestly. disabling a lot of the particles like the white bits in REZ helped a lot, but having that narrow vision cone of the flashlight makes the game hard for me to play. it's why i mained scout for so long.
the improved FOV mod helps me a lot too

Got pretty lucky with the mods i have, only shout framework cause crashes for me.
I haven't really gone through any updates ever since I first played DRG, maybe a maintenance update or two, but never a new season
So, do all mods just break every new season?
Some stuff apply, but don't go into effect once in-mission, some stuff just show up that one error message when a package can't be downloaded even tho they're technically already downloaded, thus requiring another download
I haven't messed with DRG mods in a bit is there any functioning alternatives to the Karl mod given it's seemingly been abandoned due to technical reasons?
