Technically they are still in the sandbox category on mod.io when they pull the mod from it. And the side loader is also completely optional. So that's 2 ways that people who enjoy the progression grind can continue to do so. I guess this just boils down to different opinions. We feel that people should be allowed to play how they want since it only effects themselves(if it effected others as well I would not have this opinion) and you feel that everyone should be required to abide by the same progression grind no matter how they want to play the game.

I already said I acknowledge the flaws and mad respect to those who used common sense in areas where the guideline didn't help. I appreciate all the modders and the dev who helped me and others balance stuff for vanilla and modded difficulties with dependencies so ppl can play however they want weapon wise to match their modded swarms making it more fair to the amount of work the players put in

imo if people dont want to deal with the hundreds of hours of grind you gotta put into the game to unlock stuff, they shouldn't have to. i do see that as ruining the experience and i don't like cheaters, but in the end they can decide how they want to experience the game
i guess the main issue is that sandbox mods can affect vanilla players, which i agree is a bad thing, but the [MODDED] tag is a better solution to that than the random hacker lobbies that have no tags anyway
as someone that has put in 900 hours and is an inch away from 100% cosmetics, i would not be happy with someone that cheats in all of them, because i put in the time and effort to get there and they didn't. but thats my choice and that's their choice

Is anyone having issues with mods? I installed the game after a fresh windows install and my "Install Mods" button is grayed out
Other than not having your steam connected to the site idk what else it may be
I did that too. Delete account and created a new one (login with steam), deleted mod.io files but no success. Will try later other options
Tried other things but had no luck. So far I checked game file integrity, uninstalled and intalled the game again, delete my previous mod.io steam account and created a new one, launch the game in safe mode to disabile mods, deleted mod.io folders in appdata, users and program data. Nothing worked. I'm at a loss. Don't know what else to do
make sure the mod.io account has the same username and email as the steam one. I think that made the difference for me, but honestly it just seemed kinda random when it started working
Well, yesterday was the first time I crashed like really hard from using mods in DRG.
I don't know if it was because an outdated mod, or if I ran too much or what would trigger it.
It has. But searching online I found other people having the same issue and solved It randomly by messing around. Gotta do so
I think starting the game back up again does it(?), at least it worked for me.
Resolved the problem. Seems like the problem was that I already logged in to mod.io with my steam account and the game, after clicking on "Accept" in the "Terms and condition" tab was hanging waiting for a connection with my account that did not happen. So here it is what i did:
- Log into mod.io with my steam account
- Connected a second account to it (like Discord)
- Removed the Steam account linking from mod.io
- Launched the game and instead of accepting the terms I clicked on the terms line itself
- Logged into my mod.io account in the Steam TAB that opened
- Linked my Steam account to the mod.io one
- Closed the game and launched it again and everything was fine
if I install just a basic mod like reticle overheat will I still be only able to play on modded servers or can i play with anyone?
mods with the verified tag are clientside only and don't affect gameplay, you can play with anyone. reticle overheat is verified so no, you can play with everyone
mods with the approved tag change gameplay and will make your lobby appear modded, and will restrict you
same with the sandbox tag but those also restrict you from approved lobbies, and force you to use a sandbox save

Make sure you have all the necessary dependencies, like Shout Framework and Mod Hub. Also be sure to restart your game as some images/text things don't reload properly without a full restart

approved means you can use them for normal game progression (i think), but having a strong flashlight that renders flares useless will most likely be ranked too unfair for regular progression

Guys help I need to learn how to mod DRG for a funny concept; general shopping list for the idea:
- A custom Ore
- How to give the mod access to the # of bugs killed
- How to generate ores on the walls mid-mission OR how to make a custom Ore unbreakable until a custom condition is met
- Detecting what weapon mods each player has
- A buff system that gives exclusive mission-long buffs based on each equipment mod the player has

Yes, you can join servers. As long as all your mods are verified. Approved and sandbox are a whole different ball game, but those are typically more gameplay changing.
They should work when you're not the host. Though, sometimes mods will stop working or do something weird as a general rule.

I was told there are two mods (verified), one for making exploders sound higher and one for making flashlight brighter but I can not find either of them in the mod.io
Anything with the flashlight won't be verified. Those will always be approved due to increasing visibility of everything in an unintended way.
As for the Exploders, I'm unsure.
A sound replacement for exploders should theoretically be verified. I'm just not sure if said mod exists, or is updated.
Any idea on a good HUD mod for allowing me to see power attack and shield cooldown in seconds rather than the right side bar in vanilla?
Also there is one flare mod that makes the flare light warmer but not for flashlight which feels weird.
Warmer light isn't "brighter" but definetly increases visibility.

Not that I know of.
That one should be verified, as it doesn't change the actual light values of the flares. Simply recolors them.
The visibility with the flares boils down to colored lights and wave lengths. Hence why engineer's is the worst in vanilla.
So, it unintentionally makes it easier to see, but all it's really doing is removing the color filter on it. What is lit up code wise remains the same.

I installed a sandbox mod that i saw was being used by several youtubers and honestly was kinda mid and I rushed all the stuff that was saying and despite disabling the sandbox mod the menu icon is still there and whenever i boot up DRG some kind of weird menu keeps poping up about "Loading a save file called Player" never seen this before and I wanna get rid of the icon and that save file stuff. Thank you

Does anybody know how to fix this? Game says that "Modding has been disabled by a launch option." even though there is no launch options enabled. I installed trumank/drg-mod-integration and though that I installed only the A Better Modding Menu mod. The aforementioned issue arose after I uninstalled the mod integration and modding menu mods.
Edit: I tried reinstalling the game; it didn't help
go launch the game using dx11 or 12 through the startup options
I tried both. Didn't change anything.
mod integration disables the ingame modding menu, you need to hit uninstall mods if you're trying to access it

It's not easy to explain but when there is too much gold that is minned or appear with lootbugs or with golden buggs modifier most parts vanish

I'm having a weird bug where my dwarfs' beards and long hair keep jittering on forge, equipment and cosmetic screens. also the forge animation camera moves too quickly. all of this happened after I installed some mods for the first time today. is there a fix?

if some of them are approved and you are joining "unmodded lobby" they will turn off. Also might be this stupid "disable outdated mods" checkbox. Also might be modio integration barely functioning as it usually does(it randomly disables your mods from time to time)

Hm okay that it was it glitching. I only use verified I think they are called and have the ckecbox off. Alltho after I reloaded the game as enabled them all again I only enabled the up do date ones after refreshing the lobby but I haven't had a tick at the auto disabling. Maybe it works again today

Hi all, is there a youtube tutorial on how to set scaled difficulty and spawn enemeis comparable to how Lazymaybe does his testing? I have sandbox utilities, but I don't know what mods I need to set the player scaled difficulty and spawn bugs that don't move.
Idk who lazymaybe is but More Players Balanced scales difficulty with player count and im pretty sure Twitch Integration lets you spawn bugs that dont move iirc. Or you can just spawn the bugs individually with sandbox util and set the MaxPawnSpeed to 0
You can just deactivates the AI through Sandbox Utilities spawn options.
Don't recall for difficulty scaling but I'm pretty sure it also lets you change it around.
You can use Custom Difficulty to change the health scale of bugs spawned by Sandbox Utilities
As Pounce said spawning bugs that don't move is just a matter of setting the disable AI checkbox to checked in Sandbox Util
Just note some enemies can't have their AI disabled and that freezing/unfreezing an enemy or fearing an enemy can reenable the AI

my wrist keeps hurting afterwards though; you have to make very precise mouse movements when shrinking down objects, since you have to change the width, height and length all separately on the X, Y and Z axis

Well you could try to make some combos.

Because if you don't have a certain OC that pairs well with some in Floof's it's kinda lackluster.

For example Uranium Leads is like LSLS and Burning Hell infused together with less ROF.
Instead of 30 ROF Uranium Leads has 15 I think.
And pretty sure Uranium Leads also got nerfed from how OP it was before I think.
Driller ate good and has some really cool OCs but in my opinion the Unstable OC he gets for Cryo Cannon in this mod is kinda like a worse Tuned Cooler except for it's freezing power.
For it's freezing power it is absolutely OP.
But I think because of it. It has lots of downsides.
Also you can always suggest ideas on the forum to Flof.

"Mods that grants XP, player ranks, character levels, or promotions" are an example of a mod belonging in the sandbox category. So I believe you can use them, but you won't actually progress.

So far as I understand it, as long as all the mods are verified the game will register progress like normal. If sandbox/approved it'll create a separate savefile (?) and stop progression
If its a modded lobby in the vanilla server browser you can still get achievments. Otherwise you cant.

I love Reforged for its large bug variety and custom overclocks, without it being too overwhelming at the same time. Then again finding a Glyphid Nemesis on a Mining Expedition always gets the blood pumping

Better Spectator, Better Time Control, Advanced Darkness, Sandbox Utilities, Green Screen Bedrock/Blue Screen Bedrock, and Better Post Processing are all great for doing camera work, slowmo, spawning things, changing class and builds on the fly, helping do visuals, etc.

I am trying to add mods for the first time. I logged in. I am at the space rig. I went esc > modding. I accepted terms and conditions. I am now starring at screen saying "there are currently no mods installed", and a greyed out button "install mods".

im noticing theres a lot fewer lobbies than there used to be, idk if its coincidence or not
having only verified mods won't tag you as modded...i believe if ur seeing less lobbies than usual and your name doesnt have (modded) on it then ur game isnt updated

guys, what's the problem, I only used cosmetic mods marked Verified, but after the patch the game crashed and all the mods were gone, re-subscribing did not bring them back?

verified just effect ui and visual effects, and sometimes control changes. as a host it doesn't affect you at all because you don't download them if someone with them joins

Because everyone in my lobby has access to information I do not have
everyone else in the lobby knows exactly how much nitra the team has in their inventory
everyone else can see a minimap in the bottom corner and can see glyphids in the dark
everyone else can see my exact build and play around it
nobody else seems to be confused about whether we got all the fossils or not
