I'd rather ask here than in a vanilla channel because this might've been added by a mod – what exactly am I looking at? Some easter egg in a mod I have installed (Miracle's Mod Manager maybe) or is this a vanilla easter egg? I tried inserting it into the Jetty Boot arcade but it did nothing. The text says ```

Behaves like a heavy item while held. If I throw it, it just kinda vanishes as far as I can tell.

yep, that's added by the Miracle Mod Manager. it doesn't vanish when you throw it, the physics are just a little janky. there's definitely a place you can put it, and it's not the arcade machines.
just wanted to verify, if i have >50 verified mods can i still join ppl's games and invite ppl to mine? does it just make it so that my game doesn't appear in the public lobby list?
it prevents your lobby from being visible yeah, but you can join or invite just fine

Two possible possibilities that I can think of, either you have "auto disable outdated mods" enabled which will disable any outdated mods when you next start up the game, or you're alt+F4ing or something like that, so the game is thinking that you are experiencing a crash from the mods and is wiping your mod folder as a result in hopes of letting you back into the game fresh.
Also keep in mind that if you join a game via an invite through discord or steam before having your game booted up and ready, that can cause it to skip the majority of your mods and not have them running, always have your game ready before you accept invitations if you wish to have your mods working.

some of my weapon sound replacement mods are very unreliable while others just work 100% of the time, I have two that replace warthog and m1000 sounds with sounds from doom eternal and they work maybe 10% of the time, but the other ones I have that make the leadstorm sound like the tf2 minigun or the shard diffractor sound like the lasergewehr from wolfenstein always work

explosive reload isnt affected by frozen or weakspot multipliers

shooting at weakspots still matters because the bullets still deal damage and are modified by multipliers
regardless, the explosive reload part of the damage will apply anywhere unless you shoot at heavy/unbreakable armor

Im talking about mods that I am subscribed to.
Right now, i got some mods that auto download each time (because, I instantly close the game, i dont want to download or install them)
guess what, I can NOT unsubscribe to them. I am not subscribed to them, according to the mod site
soo... i cant unsubscribe for them, they keep downloading, they put me in sandbox, and my game crashes while its loading all the mods
now you see why i want an unsub-all button?
(oh and, this is happening on my own lobby/server)
btw, i have no clue how to remove those mods that i am subscribed to, but which the site considers not subscribed to, i'm stuck in a purgatory where I'm forced to use safe mode because i got no way to unsubscribe from these mods

also, is there a way to download all of those mods without uhhh... enabling all of them by default? again, if i do that, my game crashes, which means, next time i start my game, the mods download AGAIN, AND THE CYCLE REPEATS.
- each time i leave the game, the mods download gets removed or something, and then next time i start the game, they get downloaded again, and installed again, enabled again.. and crashes again...

A friend and I have had the same mods for about a year, sometimes switching mods out, without any problems.
Since season 4, he can't enable mods. Even if he only tries to load up to date ones, the game starts crashing. Meanwhile my game is working fine, on all of the mods, whether they are updated or not. I'm confused.
He's going through all of the mods one by one now, to see if any consistently cause crashing, and maybe that'll narrow down the why.

im dense. i thought it talking about my username was a bug. my username had at symbols for A's on steam when i made this through steam and it didnt like it so it was barking at me to change it. then submit my email in the account settings THEN put in a the 5 digit code

Turns out it was a single mod causing the crashes, and moving to a recreation of it solved everything. Wonder why the old version still works for me.. But eh. Computers are weird sometimes.

Hey 👋, new to DRG modding here. I recently made a custom model as a weapon replacement, and I was experimenting with the materials. I noticed vanilla models have a subtle shadow/ambient occlusion effect over them. Which is nowhere to be seen ony own model sadly. I suspect this is done through some vertex painting or something like that...
Maybe someone has an idea ?

Import fbx plugin iirc
Then use umodel / UE Viewer to get the fbx or psk. Past that, I don't know, but Modio has some guides for it. Also you'll definitely need to figure out your wine issue.

Umodel will give you a psk file of the model. You have to get a plugin to import psk files into Blender. The guide on mod.io has a link to the plugin you need. From there, you make your modifications and export it as an fbx (but you've gotta make sure it's properly rigged to the bones and all that, it's a whole thing).

ok found the culprit - it's the speedster mod. it lets you set bosco's speed manually now. it used to only work for molly.

not really, tf2 (and even doom) does it in the form of demos, which rarely take even a megabyte of space. it could be done but it probably wouldn't be easy

Full use so long as it is for DRG only. Can't be used to unlock paid content. Can't be used for profit unless it is something that you made from scratch in the likeness of. Can't be discrimitory or prevent a certain player category from accessing the game such as an auto kicker based on player rank. Then the general online etiquette stuff.

It also has a spin-up mechanic, though it's slightly different in that it starts shooting immediately while it spins up rather than waiting until reaching full RPM to start firing 🤔

Like, ability to see are other people charging Iron Will to revive themselves or not, along with the feature to see who used Iron Will already too, so you can save your perk and not waste it by having 2 people revived at the same time.

i've recently been running mods in the game again, thirty in total two approved. i join one public lobby and it asks me to disable the approved mods, everything works fine. i leave that lobby and joing another, no prompt to disable mods, just stuck on the "joining" screen, have to restart. anyone have similar problems/know how to fix?

hey folks, since the season 4 update my mods are not working correct.
Many mods have the yellow exclamation mark symbol with the message

But the mods was updated after the patch. Additional i can activate these mods and they work, but when i restart the game they are unchecked automatically.
Is there something i can do to make them work properly again?

no such mods since there are 1) too many models to replace and needs to be distinct enough from each others, 2) mods are verified by devs only, 3) you delete the fun of shooting the bugs and part of DRG itself by replacing them x)
u could have googly eyes on them tho
would be quite hard to change the models and keep the hitboxes the same. unless you're willing to straight change the models too, but that's almost a completely different game

the autosprint mod is so good i dont think i can play drg without it anymore. devs should consider making it canon, and have drg to be one of those games where you simply move faster when moving forward. it just works with how drg functions, there is no delay for shooting, there is no inherited momentum to slip, no considerable speedup or delay to sprinting, its just extra movement speed when holding W and not shooting

Modio is only for fetching mod IDs to download based on Steam account and adding them to the PC.
DRG mod implementation is what manages the mods, does the dependency checking, loadouts, hot reloading and uninstalling after the user unsubscribes. It was created by Jonas HR and he no longer works at GSG so there is not much to be done until a new person is hired.
Nonetheless devs wanted sandbox/verified/approved which really isn't suited for modio and thus isn't really forced. It's only a recommendation

The only time that it is Modio's fault is if it can't be reached which prevents the DRG implementation from being able to manage mods, which is usually just a Steam maintenance day and the Modio devs usually give a heads up for server maintenance.

Categorization is pretty unique to DRG, the Modio devs had to make special accommodations for DRG to allow a system for this. It is still the fault of the DRG implementation of when this system is bypassed, not Modio. If you read Modio's developer guides it pretty bluntly states to not do what the DRG implementation has done, which is "forced" categories and dependencies.

I've talked with the Modio devs about it as well as GSG. I don't think I am allowed to share the documentation.

it is entirely possible to sideload mods/cheats and not have your lobby marked as modded or to join vanilla lobbies with sideloaded mods running.
and thats how we end up with non tagged modded/cheated lobbies and ruins the experience for ppl that didn't asked for mods

it's a mod that combined a lot of QoL elements like:
- adding a little ressuply icon left of the nitra counter on the team deposit popup (like 3x [resup] 289 Nitra
) - allowing the user to change the keybind of many common perks (dash, bezerker, hover boots, etc)
- auto-recalling distant and empty turrets
- would always pick the same hazard level as your default, even if you just left a mission you hosted with a different hazard (which would become the default hazard on vanilla)
- some other stuff i dont remember
that sounds like someone's made a modpack of multiples mods

if you have more players balanced, your lobby should only show up if the "show approved" box is ticked
I've seen people using the mod, and I've seen it without "show approved" ticked
- 5 players can happen in vanilla due to a bug
- otherwise they were cheating
8 players in a verified server is absolutely not normal

I have questions, recently some of the mods I used before season 4 caused my game to close and sent to the report error screen ( saying there might be a mod that is an exception despite all of them are updated). I did unsubscribe some mods and try reinstalling, still having problem with multiple mods. I am thinking maybe of doing uninstalling drg to have clean file and redownload the mods. Will this work?
having modded games since god knows how long, if you have crash from mods than your best bet is to find which mod in particular cause the crash and to remove it
u can always try a clean reinstall but if you redownload the same mods again there are high chances u will get the same crashes

DRG modding comes from a dark past where most mods just made the farming easier (this was pre-mod.io of course), it would be in the best interest of everyone if that didn't become a thing once more
Everyone has their own viewpoint on these things and in my opinion I don't care what you do in your own lobby but if you are affecting clients without their knowledge beforehand then it is a problem. You are simply making those of us who take a lot of our time to make mods with balance or creativity in mind look bad because you are abusing our works and making it more difficult to get mods to not be frowned upon.

As someone who has to actively deal with mod support issues and argue with the devs about things I can completely understand why people do this. You could leave a lobby up with one mod for a day straight and maybe get 1-2 random people to join (which is what LFG can help with). Back before official support it was unlisted and people would join all the time, albeit without knowing something was up; the caveat being that we didn't have very complex mods back then so things were more tame. Official support category separation has inherit issues that I have a whole list of and it is in dire need of a rework if not a full on reimplementation, primarily starting with the removal of hot reloading as it causes more harm than good.
i understand too, the playerbase in drg which is willing to join modded lobbies is very small. maybe because the base game is so solid (lol), as fun as the mods are

Modded lobbies should be shown by default and lobbies clearly labeled as such. Doing so would be beneficial towards the health of the modding community.
I and others have tried telling the devs this but they disagreed and said it would not make much of a difference as it was easy to access already or something along those lines. It's currently just a catch 22 it seems.
i mean. it wouldn't be all that different from how TF2 does it... just open the lobby browser and you'll have a vanilla lobby right next to a x10 server 🤷

I find things that affect save games in some overly beneficial way to be problematic for people joining without knowing such.
Things that change up gameplay like more enemies are alright as there is no near permanent account damage, just a simple leave lobby.

Not really, the game is not built in mind for more than 4 players at all. Generally speaking a 5th will not cause this though but things are finnicky regardless of specs.
u may not see more players as a mod that can ruins a lot but since the number of players add to the mission bonus at the end it does affect things, from total minerals you get to xp and credits
If it's changing the user experience at all people have a right to be informed of it. Hiding things that are changing the game are what got the modding community in trouble in the first place.
also the game is way easier when a 5th joins in because it doesn't scale up to that degree by itself

hey everyone, years ago I start play drg, way before the mod support, and sadly i install some mods to see what it is. With time I slowly stopped playing and even unstalled the game.
Now, years after I back to play and noteci that my save is mark with sandbox and now I cant play in another server on the server list.
In the save menu I have the main save without any progress, and my other save with all my playing hours mark with sandbox, its possible to transfer my progress from the sandbox save to the main save or remove the sandbox mark?

Bit of a complicated question here. First time trying modding here, and I'm trying to replace Doretta's mechanical squealing with the Scout from TF2. I've read and watched what reference material there is, and the process is working fine for the most part. My biggest concern is I'm currently replacing audio files based solely on their file naming convention, as I can't figure out how to open DRG Packer's unpacked uasset audio cue files.
I can add my own scout voice line, make and rename an audio cue file to match an existing one from Doretta's audio files, then put the voice line in the newly created audio cue. I then touch up its class, attenuation, and submix. But I can't open the original Doretta audio file to know exactly what I'm replacing. Does anyone know a method?

Is anyone else having difficulty with the weapon heat crosshair mod?
It worked fine for a bit, using it in the sandbox utilities white room on a minigun with Burning Hell, but then I got killed and revived and stopped working, even after i restarted the game
I can't find any mods which add filter/sort functionality to the mission selection server list. Is there a reason for this? Am I missing a mod somewhere?

I havent been in the server in a few days.. but today's game update has completely broken the means to use tool sharing mods like mine. and no my mod is not broken.
In the past few weeks, it was just a UI issue, players could still pick upgrades for a tool even though it appeared no upgrades were selected. With today's update, even if an upgrade is already applied, the game removes all upgrades and forces players to use a base tool unless they use the tool originally assigned to the selected character... GSG devs are breaking more and more of the game with these updates and it's starting to feel like it's intentional, to stop players from using mods like mine and forcing everyone to use only the assigned weapons/tools

Mods are only supported when it comes to the integration of mod.io with the game. There have not been and likely will never be any guarantee that an update will not break the functionality of a mod. No game guarantees this.

As i already stated, the mod is fully functional. the problem is 1, the user interface is still broken when showing weapons/tools that belong to other classes, and 2, todays update makes it so the game unequips all upgrades to said weapons/tools not originally intended for a character. so its not the functionality of the mod technically. the mod is the reason why i was able to discover the game is broken in this way

Is there any way to tell from the crash reporter error screen what 'caused' a crash?.. basically someone joined my approved modded game and I promptly crashed to desktop.. and its telling me it got an exception error with some winx64 (repeated) issues.. and it looks more like a BSOD error code than a mod error report.

Is there a mod where i can view my character outside 1st person perspective? Like I want to take screenshots of my guy shooting for some things I want to work on, it would be cool if i could rotate the perspective i can see my character from for some ideas I have.

Question: when season 4 dropped, the mods I used to change the firing sound of weapons stopped working. I don't recall seeing any changes to the guns firing sound in the notes, so why did it break?
No idea why it wouldve broke but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling, then restarting your game after applying?

it's mostly small stuff like fast reforging, and no camera shake, and they were all verified
after s4, ive had to use unmodded drg

If you're running Brighter Objects Add On, it is an approved mod. It will put a little modded title next to your name but it isn't doing anything to your save
