i remember playing in a modded lobby once where the guy had multiplied the effects of all the perks, so for example with second wind after a few seconds you'd just shoot off really fast once the buff kicked in

i doubt modders even yet capable of getting terrain scanner image at all
it's just a widget than can be placed anywhere. you're right that i don't think anyone has managed to get the raw mesh data, but you don't need that to make the terrain scanner show up elsewhere
How does modding exactly work? Do you play with other people who dont have mods? Some mods just seem cheaty not sure how it works

there was a modded lobby that had only hulli hoarders spawn but it didn't show the approved or sandbox warning before I joined, I left the lobby when I saw 2k of two minerals because who knows if you get in trouble doing stuff like that, didn't want to be part with being able to get minerals easy with mods even though I had every upgrade and overclock
It is on user discretion if they wanna cheat or obtain resources with (il)legal means.
But afaik you can restore old save file before that incident

yeah the Huuli has been driving me nuts lately
I play solo mostly so its issues stand out even more
I tried that once but boscos rockets are kind of buggy... I basically never use them outside of emergencies
honestly if the huuli had to stay on the stage a set amount of time it would help a LOT
it still would glitch through walls and get triggered by the environment but at least you get an actual chance to catch back up to it.
I would not mind its escape getting removed entirely but that would likely get classed as sandbox
the reason they piss me off so much is it rarely actually feels like my fault when they get away

Some assets aren't reloaded and a reset is usually needed
And the twitching beard and jiggle bones is not just specifically one mod

What happened to the, "Fall Damaged Scout" mod? It uninstalled in my game and I can't find it anymore.
Looks like the mod's creator has removed their work from modio.
Keep the mod enabled but restart the game. Some assets aren't replaced until the game is fully restarted. Disabling the mod would just prolong your issue. (not sure if this would fix your problem at hand but it's required for some to function properly)

Help. I have an issue with modded game where no flashlight mod seems to work.
I have an extensive modlist and right now the flashlight mod i am trying to use is flashlight 40m which says it's incompatible with any other mod that "changes base character stats".
A friend playing with flashlight mods in my session does not have this issue so the cause of the issue must be an optional mod, and i can't think of an optional mod i have that changes base character stats

Well, the only way is brute force it by 50/50
Disable 50% of mods (either all on top or all below) except your flash light one, restart game and check if it works
If not try upper/lower, then repeat until you gradually filter out the offender
Could be even simply the mod itself is in trouble due to lunar update

5x flashlight simply works, while this one does not
well, 5x flashlight doesn't always work, it worked after applying it, but when i restarted my game it's no longer working
restart you game to ensure your mods are actually enabled. if you change mods after assets have been loaded, more than likely you'll have mods in an invalid state

restarting is what caused 5x flashlight to suddenly not work in spacerig
and 40m flashlight didn't work before or after restart, even when i followed the exact instructions from the mod author
with only 40m flashlight enabled? restarting can also change load order so could explain it being inconsistent
ok, it works standalone without any restarting. So the issue is some mod conflict that i have no tools to figure out. logs are useless and i can't tell if two mods modify the same file since this information is carefully kept from me (i can't even download the mod .zip files and the downloaded mods are hidden away on my disk)

you can technically download the mods and unpack them to see what assets they change. I have an index of mod assets I use to check these things I can reference when I get back in ~an hour
how? there is no download button on the mod.io website for me. Maybe you have one since you need it to approve mods?
I think it might not exist or be hidden on new mod.io. the old website has a file list and download links, though those might even be restricted (stupid, I know). things I for sure know work are the modio API or looking at the already downloaded mods directory at C:\Users\Public\mod.io
there's a bunch of paks in there that aren't plaintext, and folders are named after mod ID which i cannot reverse lookup if the mod maker did not name their .pak after their mod

this is 40m flashlight, there is no pak with identical name in mods folder
old mod.io uses search powered by google so if google hasn't indexed the mod page you cannot lookup mod id
the name of the pak is irrelevant. the contents of the pak are what matters. need UnrealPak or similar to examine the contents
there are two search bars, the small one on the left does indeed resort to google. The main one on the mod listing page does not

I've been working on a 3rd party pak reading library. a small tool to crawl the mod.io directory and look for conflicts sounds like an excuse to use it
mod information is also present in the state.json file so could easily lookup mod names too
i am completely unfamiliar with unreal engine modding other than being able to copy commands from unrealpak readme into powershell, how do i merge these two mods? or does that require me to get the entire toolchain installed?
in case of the latter i'm just going to get rid of beastmaster buffs
uassetgui to open cooked assets. I would use it to export the files as JSON so they can be diffed so it's easy to see what the mod does. You would also need to put the new mod on mod.io if you wanted to use it in multiplayer
if you mean the entirety of the unreal engine editor by "the entire toolchain", then no not for this. Only need the editor for creating new assets from scratch

verified mods don't do anything to your game. You don't get achievements while using approved mods, and for sandbox mods you need a special sandbox save that has progression disabled

mods are automagically added to players when required

optional mods are not automatically downloaded by players, and depending on the mod only the host actually needs to have it for everyone in the lobby to have the mod effect
mission director has a sort of freecam mode for the host (or whoever host appointed as mission director) but the free cam comes with a sort of spawn menu too

Unable to access modding tab in-game.
I have been having this problem ever since I started playing. I would go on the modding tab in the menu and the screen would give me a padlock symbol and give a message saying "You must agree to the terms of service to gain access."
No page shows up, it just plays the spinning dots animation. I've had it up before for 15 minutes and nothing would happen. Am I missing something or is there something wrong?
This is just a request for any modders willing to do it. Can someone make a mod that makes all the dasterdly bugs into their older, less bulky, models, but still keep the modern animations? I love the modern polished look dont get me wrong, but the idea of creepy thin bugs in a dark cave really gives off some vibes i would love

is there any way to set mod priorities? I have a music pack for the Space Rig and another music pack that replaces almost everything, so can I somehow get the Space Rig music replacer to take priority instead but still keep the other music pack for swarms etc?
If not it also seems like the game by default takes priority alphabetically, so is it also possible to rename your mods in that case?

It says on the mod page, approved. You can create a copy of your current save to use as a Sandbox save.

hey, I've been trying modding out and there a few mods that I'd like to use, even though I like vanilla DRG already. Sadly, I've run into a pretty annoying issue.
After completing a mission, I noticed that the ending cutscene (when the team walks forward and does victory animations) looked... off. Like the camera immediately snapped down, instead of gradually descending. I thought that was annoying but eh, I could live with that. No big deal.
It got worse when I tried forging an OC, though. The camera snapped way faster than usual. It feels surreal and unnatural, it ruins the game experience for me. Even though it's not really affecting my progression, it's just something that bugs me wayyyy too much.
So, tl;dr: one or more of my mods is speeding up the camera in my game's cutscenes. I may be picky, but it's annoying me way too much.
Does anyone with these mods installed have the same issue? Plz ping me if you reply
I use everything other than Fancy Steeve and Text Commands Wheel on a daily basis and have never experienced this (and dunno why those would cause issues either). Does this happen consistently even after you restart the game?

I did test it out after uninstalling every mod
and the issue was gone, while forging an OC
so I installed everything again, forged another OC and yep the camera was wacky again
try enabling half at a time and see if you can narrow down what the issue is
you see that's the problem
I don't have any more OCs to forge 
the only way to test it out would be to finish a mission and that would take wayyy too long
but well, if you say that you don't use Fancy Steeve and Text Commands Wheel, then maybe I could try without those in the future, see if one of them is the guilty party.
it'll be a shame, because even though I don't mind going without Fancy Steeve the Text Commands Wheel is really handy and feels like it should be in the vanilla game

Seems to be something exclusively happening today (29th January 2023):
I updated "Bosco Retooled"-mod within this past 30-minutes, and afterwards the game refuses to "connect to internet":
- No seasonal cosmetics, including at the "login-screen"
- No Assignments
Worth noting that updating mods earlier this week caused no problems
( Sunday is last day of calendar-week in UTC+2-area ).

Hello all, got a little problem with modding and wanted to ask if anyone might know about this one
I decided to dabble in installing DRG - mods a little bit and subscribed to two separate ones. After none of them worked I unsubscribed them and deleted them out of the mod manager. Somehow this seems to have caused core hunts and deep dives to be permanently unavailable to me as they are displayed as such. The game informs me that this may be due to it not being connected with the internet or my firewall blocking it. Neither of them is the case though. I don't know if this is a common issue or if on my first time installing mods it I've managed to download the exact ones that break the game XD

also can you please make the plasma borer mule and the aquarq carrier mule try to not sit inside of each other? the plasma borer usually puts its thing inside of the box of the carrier which bounces you and potentially other stuff out

I have mods I can run in deep dives. They are mostly auditory mods, but I can run them. I think the official rating on the mod dictates if you can run the mod or not. Though that is my guess

Like all the mods I have the "verified" rating, meaning that I can run them without having to have the server be called "modded" to run with people.
At least, that is my guess on how the system works, so please don't quote me
The only mod that would really change any way of thinking that I run is the "Combined inventories" mod. Which allows me to see the total inventory of everyone and see if everything that we are carrying meets quotas and get resupplies.
Though, that mod is still rated "verified", so I can run it in Deep Dives
"verified" mods don't actually change anything about the state of the game, they're all client side
this includes mods that change the intended game experience such as enemy radar or combined inventories, or team trackers
a mod that changes weapon stats or adds a new enemy would not be verified under any circumstances and would be approved (or sandbox if it's stupid enough, like nitra detonators)

I just know one mod (the glowing resource's mod add on) is stated as approved rather than verified as the whole problem is that it does change how you look at the game.
Sort of how I got that perception of what the "verified" mods mean. I kind of think that combined inventory does not change how you play, but speeds up some communication with the information. At least in my opinion.

Yes, everything that normally scales with mission scale will do so at the vanilla rate.
2x is max in vanilla, 10x in MCR but that also means more objective requirements, more enemies, more loot, more critters and larger maps to some extent.

The only crashes that I am aware of except for one are things that I cannot really fix. If you can send me the crash logs that can help a bit. I lost the only way to get more information from crash logs and haven't crashed myself yet so I can't reproduce them. Even known crash reproductions don't work for me but happens for others.

Press the subscription button, exit the UI from steam browser and wait a little bit in the modding tab in the pause menu for it to download. If only on the browser they should install when you load the game up next.

Hivemind has a budget and can choose what to spawn and where. It can manually snipe as a spitter, or spitballer. It can order a bug to attack a particular dwarf, and so on.

Hiding flares can help reduce the amount of extra garbage sitting around https://drg.old.mod.io/remove-flares.

Literally not possible due to the way that DNA assets are loaded. Best that I can do is allow editing of the scaling by enabling or disabling tiers.

Mod settings are going to be a significant process though because I have to make the widgets for editing them, update them properly with information from a save game that I have to create and load, make the read & write logic for changes, then implement the actual gameplay changes from changing settings, then also make sure that the changes apply to clients somehow even though they'll have differing settings because otherwise desync and broken shit. It's not a simple or fun task whatsoever.
DNA is how scaling works for missions, they are class references only and cannot be edited in runtime.
So I've had to create about 60 or so custom ones and add them to the pool. Why not 10? Certain mission types have special DNA and without it using the right ones it'll crash the game.

So this mod: https://drg.old.mod.io/armor-paintjob-unlocker1 has caused me a bit of grief. Whenever I use any armor framework and load into a mission, it gets reverted back to Mk 1 of whatever class I'm on. This occurs regardless of if the framework belongs to the class its equipped on or not, or if I have unlocked that framework through natural progression or not. My buddy in multiplayer has the exact mods I do, and his mod works perfectly fine. Mine reverts my armor to Mk 1 in both multiplayer and solo lobbies. I've seen comments on the mod.io page mentioning this bug but with no resolution or replies. Does anyone have any idea how I might go about fixing this?

yeah but it depends on the kind of mod. clientside mods only affect you. there are some mods that affect gameplay, usually only the host has to have the mod. and then thereโs sandbox mods which everyone must have the mod for

map rotation is all generated locally depending on system time. only thing going through http is weekly assignments and deep dives

So I'm adding a bunch of custom music through the miracle custom soundtrack mod but I've run out of things that I think work well for drg. does anyone have any suggestions for songs for specific biomes or tracks. I've so far replaced all the dreadnought songs and the machine event songs so those aren't as needed but you can still suggest them since you can apparently add more songs. Feel free to @ me any suggestions as that will be the easiest way for me to see them.
The ambient music between action is pretty important since it tends to be the bulk of what you hear

the mod io page is opened in the steam brouser but once you subscribe to a mod (You need to make an account for linking purposes) it will add it to your mod tab in the "esc" menu after you refresh

every now and then i see lobbys (in the regular server browser) that advertise and play with 4+ players and enemy multipliers.
i was always under the impression that approved mods would put you into a seperate server browser or something like that, so where can i get them and still be in the regular server browser?
It usually is labelled with a modded server, I think there's a checkbox to disable seeing lobbies approved mods right
I haven't played with mods too much though
if i run these mods will i still have my regular savegame or will it put me in another one?
if those mods are actually present in their lobbies that are marked as non-modded then they are using a scummy glitch. subjecting people to mods like that is lame.
depends on the category of the mod, only sandbox mods requires a separate save. check pins for more info.

I guess similar to base game. I've used stuff from the calamity mod soundtrack as well as the risk of rain 2 soundtrack. so I guess atmospheric tracks in terms of level music. For the events and higher action moments however things get a bit looser. Like my exit music ranges from more calamity soundtrack songs to sonic frontiers tracks. Sorry if this didn't help much also sorry for the late reply.

I have been having an issue lately that is really frustrating me and idk how to stop it. I like using mods occasionally, but i don't want to flood my acct with every single mod. Therefore, unless I am hosting mods, I usually don't join modded lobbied. In this case, not once today did I join any lobbies with the twitch mod, cosmetics unlock mod, grenade mod, etc but they keep showing up in droves on my pending feed when I never authorized subscribing to them and never joined lobbies with them in the first place. Besides, every lobby I have played has been with friends and all of them verified that they do not have those mods. Why am I being auto subscribed to random mods that I never approved?

Okay I fixed it, because I had turned on a sandbox mod at some point, despite turning it back off, the game still seemed to invalidate my join. A game restart fixed this issue

So I have a question about mods that add new overclocks to the game.
If I've unlocked everything already and have 10 spare blank mod cores.
I unlock some in the mod, but then a update with new overclocks that Ghost ship adds, if I switched back to Vanilla. Do I still have those 10 blank mod cores? Or are they still spent?

Should be able to go to the creative tab, go to spawner, search for Aquarq and there should be something like BP_Gem_Aquarq. Then you can go into freecam mode by pressing period and click on where you wanna spawn stuff.

not a very good response, verified mods are client side - your friends don't need to download them to join - unfortunately this means they'll have to download them themselves if you want them to have the mods too
