Got a question for whomever feels like answering.
Last night i had a gun idea id maybe like to learn modding so i can make but rather than set myself for failure with expectations, i was wondering if someone experienced would be willing to hear out my idea and tell me how simple/advanced it's execution would be

I want to make a gun that use either the lok1 or gk2 model with custom stats and audio, that can fire on trigger press but it shoots the hurricane's missiles and use it's reticle guidance system except smaller size, higher speed and lower turn radius.
is there a mod that allows you to play in 3rd person ?

Public MCR has a number of problems at the moment.
Most are fixed for the next update, but that update is quite insane so it's not quite ready.
I want to make two custom class mods. Does anyone have any pointers? Are there guides for that sort of thing available?
One goal is to make a sort of nerfed weapon setup to balance out having more than four Dwarfs in a mission.
The other is a challenge run that forcibly disables all perks, weapon mods, and gear mods. With exception to Iron Will and the powerful pickaxe swing.
I figure that there's a few ways to do both. Right now I'm looking for info on how to get my feet wet.
I'd assume that whatever weapon rebalancing mods do or whatever the Karl Class mod does would be the info I need.

Mission content randomiser.
Basically makes you able to alter mission/cave structures to have more chaotic and longer missions, combining generation of different mission types and introducing new secondary objectives.
For this one I had to salvage 20 mules and mine 350 holomite

That would be a Sandboxed mod for sure. It's a really interesting concept for a mod.
Some bugs spawn naturally in the cave and some come out of the ground in waves. If the AI can't be disabled then maybe no bugs could be made to spawn at all. The bugs that appear naturally in the cave sometimes idle around and don't attack the player until they get close. It would be cool to have those guys just completely ignore the player.
Probably would want to remove the egg quake? I dunno.

I haven't played the latest versions of the mod, I tried it when it was super early days and it was kinda pushing it for my VR legs
I don't own a VR setup. To me it would be neat enough to explore a cave quietly, without shooting two thousand rounds minimum. Passive bugs would definitely help with the ambience.
I bought a Quest2 before the price hike, I'm truly in love with it
it doesn't get as much use now that I have limited space in my room, but I still hit a few songs of beat saber almost every day
aiming in VR is quite hard compared to aiming on M+K
Seems like for some odd reason the mods stopped working, like in I install them, I can play, I restart the game it crashes the game then when I relaunch the game it crashes and instead of deactivating the mod that made me crash it makes me reinstall all of them, so for now I'm gonna play with mods, don't know if I should consider it a bug or not

To be fair, the categories aren't all that descriptive (visual covers a lot of different mods, for example) and the search isn't always the best if you don't know the name of the mod you're looking for.

I just got hit with DRGLib telling me "package is invalid" and uninstalling itself, how do I go about fixing that?
Did it actually uninstall? I got the package invalid message, and the Modding tab said to click Apply to finish uninstalling DRGLib. But after I clicked Apply, DRGLib was installed and working fine.
How to keep an outdated mod always on? I find mod like "more fov" needs to be active everytime I start the game
In the modding tab in the esc menu, there should be a checkbox on the left that says “auto-disable outdated mods”

Random question someone might know the awnser too. I was playing with some friends with the "balanced more players mod" (5 players) last night and the "dynamic nitra" mod to make it cost like 60 nitra or something. This whole thing "worked" however i was the only one (as host) that could call in resupplies for 60 nitra, everyone elses still cost 80? Anyone have an experience with this?

They didnt have it installed before hand but when they joined my lobby it prompted them to install everything they needed like its meant to. I kind of thought that was the point of asking them to install when they join, so they dont have to go download the mods theirselves?

Sometimes there is random mods that just uninstalling from my game. I don't unsubscribe them, they just feeling to head out. Is there a common problem? Is there a fix to this?
uh i just had a mod uninstall itself
it's a glitch currently. if a mod gets an update it uninstalls it. just relaunch the game and it'll come back.

bug with mod support. mod updates or errored unpackaging can make it uninstall. just restart game to get them back until it's fixed

that particular bug is a bug in the game itself (though strangely happens more often with mods installed)

new enemy types: the mod DRG Reforged has a lot of new enemies though it's also bundled with massive changes to weapon balance and base dwarf stats

It's not made for everyone, but if you're strictly going for performance, those are the kinda things that you can go nuclear on (or if you just like the way it looks).
I never really managed to understand what the better post-processing mod did, but then again, I also don't know a lot about post-processing techniques so that's on me.

Idk if anyone here can help me but whenever i try to load ANY mission in glacial strata the game crashes, i've tested missions on every biome but i cant load into glacial strata. None of my mods interfere with any terrain generation or biome things
disable your mods and see if it still happens anyway. you cant rule it out
if you dont crash. enable your mods 1 by 1 until you find the problem mod
Better digging and even better digging mod are known to crash missions in glacial strata
without being at your pc we cant really help other than offer troubleshooting advice. that goes for a lot of crash related issues asked about in here. it helps to take steps like that first

1 - if is even possible to alter the look of a pre-existing cosmetic in game
2 - what modeling tool (Blender or others) should i use to alter the look of said pre-existing cosmetic
3 - if is as simple as just altering the game files or need some extra steps

Every weapon tool and grenade is usable on any class. Including armor bonuses like scouts fall resist. In any combination you can think of

what is the difference between verified and auto-verified? are they basically the same?
auto-verified means the mod should appear as verified in game, but it's possible for mod creators to use it incorrectly
Anyone got any tips on how to make mods work more reliably? I keep having issues with the game doing things like automatically installing and then immediately trying to uninstall the requirements for a mod, randomly not loading mods, uninstalling mods when they update and then not reinstalling them properly, etc.
I don't think I'm doing anything wrong but if anyone has tips or ideas for better reliability I'd love to hear them, this is... very dumb.
Most of the time restarting the game fixes whatever issue is currently causing trouble, but it's still an annoying extra step to have to go through.
restarting is pretty much the only way to get the game into a known-good state (at least until a mod updates and uninstalls itself on you)

Is there a way to view the files for downloaded mods? I'm interested in tweaking a mod I downloaded but wasn't sure where to look.
Tweaking in what way? There's not a whole lot you can do by trying to pry apart an already cooked mod.
To actually answer your question - mods you download in game are stored at C:\Users\Public\mod.io\2475\mods. You can get the id for the mod from the mod's page on modio.

So I could maybe look into making a version that myself and some comments are requesting, where it only removes some particles, not all, like the drilling and ice dust effects to make it easier to see.
Never messed around with making mods in this game so I was also curious how to get into that.
fair, fixed 
tweaking that mod is about as simple as it gets as you just unpack the mod, remove the desired empty particle assets, then pack it again. details on how to pack/unpack mods can be found in the modding discord
However, wouldn't that bring mod asset mismatch/or being outsider mod and causing it to sandbox entire game?
Otherwise it would be too easy to fit in some "client-only" cheats that could massively assist with game
it'd have to go through the approval process like every other mod
With weapons alone (primary & secondary) there are 9 different combinations to try, some work well with others, and some don't. But then theres perks, overclocks, upgrade combinations, setups you might want to run specifically for shield disruption or other modifiers.

Just change your loadouts before picking a mission? 😂 i use my slots more for cosmetics than equipment lol

Is there a mod that plays doom music when u call the drop pod and the countdown starts?
mod idea that shouldnt take long to make: Change the scout's power attack SFX to the TF2 scout's "Bonk!".
One of my mods updated today, idk which, and ever since then whenever someone attacks something with a weapon that has special effects (wave cooker is a great example, but apparently not the crispr), I experience a huge lagspike. Strangely enough, I saw that this only affects some people, so I assume this is tied to one specific mod (disabling all mods fixes it). So far, I narrowed it down to it not being drglib, frozen particle fps fix, team status indicator, biome bugs, damage numbers, and very few others I forgot

whenever anyone is hitting an enemy with a weapon that produces some kind of effect
so far I found that the wave cooker, gk2, and the springloaded ripper, and hurricane cause it to happen

completely depends on the devs to implement it, they've stated several times they currently have no plans to extend mods to consoles. would be cool to see, though.

If I may make a request can someone make a mod so the drillers drills mine resources? I always thought it was odd that this was not the default and theres no mod for this.
Been done before but the game does not support it so it just deletes the resource.

Going over the limit seems to just affect whether or not your lobby shows up in the server list. You can run a boat load of mods and still play with people who connect from steam/Discord invites
Anybody know how to spawn a loot bug with the Sandbox Utilities mod? There seems to be a "pumpkin lootbug" but not a normal or golden

if it's not in the enemy list there, you can go into the creative mode tab and search for and spawn in a ENE_LootBug that way. you have to be in freecam and click on a surface to spawn it in.

Custom Difficulty is great, there's a repository of community made Hazard levels that can give quite the challenge. Doing some Hazard 6x2 missions with a group is a lot of fun.
Swarm Control is also a good option for tuning things to be a bit harder.

I've been using it and haven't had any issues. That's just a debug message saying that the mod was loaded, not that it's the cause of your crash.

You can use Custom Difficulty to make it hazard 3.5 easily. There's a Haz3.5 JSON on the github repo.
All you have to do is copy the text from the JSON and paste it into the custom difficulty window and then save it

Game crashed again and now I'm seemingly unable to load the mod.io ToS, did i trigger some sort of hidden ban mechanism due to having my game crash too many times from the mods?

Had to backup my savefile, rename one of the older save backups to the current one, load into the game (which for some reason started the tutorial mission)
This finally made the game run the dependency resolution correctly, and disabled all mods

being marked as modded just means you're running an approved mod. won't affect your ability to do what you're doin.

Modded mark just means you can only play with other modded players. It doesn't affect your stats/resources so they're not separated from vanilla mode, hence if you disable them - you still retain them. Although achievements are disabled for obvious reasons.
Sandbox however is completely different and separated from vanilla savefile.

mods can only access data exposed to blueprints (unreal engine's scripting language) so can't access a significant amount of low level data such as terrain meshes. the only way to re-construct the mesh from a mod is by doing thousands of line traces to figure out where the walls are, which is extremely slow

Sandbox just makes you use a different save btw. It will not endanger your main save. If you end up using a mod that is sandbox on accident you can always cancel moving over to sandbox or if you do move there you can move back thru the save menu in options.

would anyone consider making a mod that removes the a+d spam from getting rockpoxed or frozen and replaces it with a timed freeze or a "hold a+d" system? i have some repetitive strain problems from other games and don't want to agitate it by clicking buttons extremely fast

Yeah I dunno, seems like the game just runs worse with just the modding integration enabled, whether you have mods running or not. Running the game in safe mode nets me better performance than running the game normally even with no mods.

So I've only ever played solo and with 2 of my irl friends and we apparently ended up with sandbox saves at some point, I guess when we tried out some mods for things like flashlight range and such. I started getting interested in playing more with randos online but apparently my save got switched to sandbox a good 100 miner levels ago, so my unmodded save is like a year behind. Is there anything I can do about that, or am I doomed to either take the level loss or stay in sandbox land?

I think that the particles for when bugs emerge are important to the gameplay so I really don't want to remove them
FWIW the particles from bugs emerging from the ground are by far the biggest offender

either back up your vanilla save file in game folder or install any sandbox mod which will create sandbox save file that doesn't affect vanilla save at all.

blueprint mod manager is outdated and no longer available. use mod hub. anything listing bpmm as a dependency is likely also outdated. make sure the mod is tagged 1.37 or it might crash your game when enabled
ok guys, I'm having a weird recurring problem. Here's what happens.
- enable a few approved mods to play with my bud, including bulk detonator infestation
- finish playing with my homie and turn off all the approved mods, running with verified only
- host a pub
- die to ten dets spawning one right after the next
Any ideas?

the mod is off, I've checked multiple times. All approved mods are off. None of my verified mods affect spawns. And the bulk spawns are waaaaay more frequent than with the mods ON.
Some mods require the game to be restarted to revert their changes. I haven't used that one myself, but that may be the issue here.

Maybe some values like enemy cap are reset back to default but the enemy composition doesn't and keeps spawning bulks? I'm not sure.

Mostly any verified mod, since they're only changing your vision of the game but not for anyone else. Although some may debate that they can indirectly affect your save progress by increasing the resources gathering and so on.

Hey I was having issues getting mods to work for my DRG..
it just seems to not actually install mods once i sub to one and just kind of fizzles out
found out shooting the baubles in the space rig with the pgl makes a really cool noise sometimes (using weapons in space rig)
unfamiliar with making mods, but a question: is it reasonably possible to do swaps of models/animations from one weapon to another? i.e. to make one weapon entirely look like another
assuming they're similar enough to have animations for the same things anyways (i.e. both have reload animations and not overheat or somesuch)

Also came here to say you should check out the Dig Dug driller mod, it easily the best audio mod for Driller
Press Esc go to the Modding Menu at the top, then press what ever accept message pops up, then press Manage Mods and it should pull up a Steam Browers with the Mod.IO in a window from there you just sign in by making an account I just signed in with Steam and then find what you want to instal and press subscribe, after that just esc again to go back to DRG make sure the check box is clicked for the mods you want on and press Apply

Hello, can somebody help me? So i have a problem where i download this 1 mod and it was outdated and it's stuck and won't began downloading and i tried restarting the game and it's still show up at 0 and i try removing it by unsubcribing and close the game and open it again but it's still show up even though i already unsub but i idk if this is the cause of the problem i'm having which is after that happened i go sub to other mod but the mod i sub can't get downloaded. So is there a way to fix this? I already have some mod before and it's still works now but right now i can't download anymore mod

I'm trying to enable modding, but DRG just shows a 'you must agree to the terms' screen on the mods tab, with no ability to agree to them. Clicking the yellow link does nothing also.

Do you have the mod that Tweek Mission Control depends on, Mod Hub, also enabled? You have to enable Mod Hub (then probably apply the changes) and then you should be able to enable it.
There's a chance that mods that are marked as outdated might crash your game or not work at all - or maybe the author just hasn't ticked the box on the mod page to say that it works on the latest version of the game. Since it's marked as outdated, it's not confirmed by the creator if it works so you won't really know until you try.

There's a request a mod channel in the modding server (linked in #fan-communities ), but there's no proper way of commissioning a mod as that doesn't happen all that often.

so hypothetically, lets say i installed a sound mod.
And for its security and convenience, the mod owner compressed said sound mod into a .pak file.
Providing further context, maybe i liked every audio bit inside that file except for one.
For the sake of argument, lets say i wanted to open the .pak file and remove it myself.
given this made-up scenario, how would someone manage to achieve that kind of goal? (with step by step instructions)

Yeah, a lot of times when I boot up, the modding menu needs to re-check for dependencies before it starts downloading any new mods
It sounds more like you're describing a fresh install, but ye there's often a delay before the game automatically does anything

You'll get more from lowering the internal rendering resolution than from any performance mod or any other ingame setting.
Will probably get a decent performance increase by running the game in safe mode/with -disablemodding. The overhead from the modding system can be pretty substantial.
I've heard about that, I'd prefer to do my own testing before saying it's substantial.

Verified and purely cosmetic mods should be fine for normal servers iirc. Anything that puts (modded) next to your name in the top right will make you disable them on joining a normal server.
And/or joining a server that does not have your specific mod as well
So I cannot join my friends which aren't using any Sandbox mods. And if I try to join them, it's making me use an outdated save.
And when they try using a Sandbox mod, it's telling them to load an outdated save.

one thing I've wondered why hasn't anyone (to my knowledge) made a crosshair altering mod if you don't know what I mean stuff like changing the drak-25's crosshair to just be a cross
I can't find a single mod that does anything like that and I'm also wondering if anybody is currently working on a mod that does that
it doesn't seem like it would be very hard (but this is coming from someone who doesn't know 2 shits about how this stuff works) and I'm just curious if somebody will ever make a something like a custom crosshair framework that allows you to easily change crosshairs for weapons and other stuff
Long text I know but I wonder why there are little to none crosshair altering mods even if the crosshairs in game are already pretty damn good
I am aware there are things like weapon heat crosshair but I don't really count that because it doesn't replace the actual weapons crosshair
it's definitely possible and I believe someone was working on such a mod at one point, but given their dynamic nature it's a bit more complicated than just a texture replacement
thats understandable them being dynamic probably means they're part of the games ui or some shit like that which makes them harder to edit then slapping on a png
I don't remember what the drak crosshair looks like or how it's set up... But I think the crosshairs are just widgets. So you could replace the widget for that weapon or the textures it uses to be a simple cross? Or maybe point the drak to a new custom widget that is just a cross (assuming it shares the same crosshair with another weapon so you don't change that one as well)
HUD_Cro_PlasmaCarbine is the drak crosshair and is made up of 8 different arrow image widgets. the textures could be replaced, but the widget is small enough that it could be straightforward to build an entirely new crosshair widget

Sandbox utilities, like the name implies, is a sandbox mod. Therefore it forces other people to download the mod to join your game

yo guys. idk if that's been written before here, but for some reason, if I load any mission in glacial strata while having a modded lobby, my game crashes.. I haven't been able to pinpoint the mod causing it, but other biomes are perfectly fine with the same mod setup.. anyone knows why that is?

This question's probably been asked to death but why hasn't some of the unlocked cosmetic stuff been put into Vanilla? mainly using Weapon Framework specific default paintjobs like regular paints? I mean it works like that for DLC Frameworks so it should only make sense it should happen with every framework in the game, no?

There's no way for me to unsubscribe from them because they have no pages on mod io.
Do I also have to delete their corresponding cache folder as well?
It's just annoying because the cache files don't get named so I have to sit here and cross reference all the numbers.
If I try and play the game with old-mods enabled for the sake of old sound mods these other ones will crash the game and force a redownload of ALL my mods every single play session.
