The answer is still the same as the last time anything was announced. It can be done from a technical standpoint. Microsoft is too restrictive from a realistic standpoint.

Ahoy all. Curious if anyone here knows where to find full control info for the VR mod? Some commands (activate Dash, Bosco rockets, etc.) didn't seem to be bound.

mods specifically can't modify anything that early in the launch process, but there may be other ways of changing them

If you're referring to the intro videos, you can just delete those files. Everything else usually hides a loading screen.
I found out from PC Gaming Wiki that you can open <path-to-game>\FSD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\*.ini and paste this into it to skip the videos:

you can grab a difficulty from https://github.com/trumank/drg-custom-difficulties#readme, copy it, go back to the game, replace the config in the text box (ctrl+a to select all, ctrl+v to paste), and then save it

speaking of the Custom Difficulty mod, which line would be for adjusting wave variety?
Depends on how you want to tweak it. EnemyDiversity determines how many types of enemies are selected out of the enemy pool to be to be spawned per wave. MinPoolSize determines how many enemies are added to the enemy pool when the mission starts. CommonEnemies, DisruptiveEnemies, SpecialEnemies are static pools that are pulled from at the start of the mission to construct the enemy pool.

yeah I had read that over several times so I knew how to get the per mission spawn pools adjusted, I just didn't know exactly how I would increase the wave spawn variety when there are multiple values there
I'm wanting to increase the wave variety by 25%, which is just enough to see a bit more with 2x spawns
i was thinking I would need to adjust the "min/max" values there.
for each wave:
a bin is selected randomly based on its weight
a number is then selected randomly within the min/max of the bin
the resulting number is how many enemy descriptors are selected from the pool to spawn in the given wave

CommonEnemies contains grunts and praetorians by default so adding sentinels will make them just as common
as long as you don't have "Hide default values" checked then there should already be a CommonEnemies entry in the config. You just have to scroll down to find it and then put "ED_Spider_Tank_HeavySpawn" inside the "add": [] array.

my game used to crash fairly often, i tried X12 but no luck, but starting in X11 mode has stopped the issue. the crash log should tell you whats causing the issue
hey, every time I launch the game, a bunch of mods appear to enable themselves on loadout A, which I purposefully leave with all mods disabled. Is this a common occurrence or is there something wrong with my installation?
Are there any common mods known to cause crashing? So far the only non-sound mods I have installed besides DRGLIB are Custom Difficulty, Weapon Heat Crosshair, Modhub, Resupply Indicator, Health/Shield Numbers, and 2x flashlight range
Been running Starship Troopers with a series of "slightly better" mods and wow, this is the most fun I've had in this game. I love these turbo swarms.

Yesterday I asked a modder by the name of Tenno_Skoom if they could mod the EPC to sound better because I have most of their mods for the weapons and today I find an EPC mod made by them.
Not only am I satisfied with the mod but this is the most impact I've had in the world so far.

From what I know, I can download community mods for another game (MSFS 2020) manually and install it. So for DRG the same thing should work for DRG. (Keep in mind I got MSFS 2020 from Microsoft Store, not steam)

anyone elses game crashing when using the speedster mod to make molly faster?
so I'm using the Custom Difficulty mod, and I found this file that seems to have all (or most of) the spawning data in it.

most of them are fairly self-explanatory, but what do these fields do?
Positioning - empty except for something related to bots (patrol, caretaker, betc), no clue what it does. Seems to always be "DebrisPositioning_0" if it's set
RequiredMainCampaignProgress - 99 for Korlok + Crassus, 5 for BET-C, , 0 everywhere else
UsesSpawnRarityModifiers - and the corresponding array SpawnRarityModifiers - seems to be related to rare (duh?) enemies, but how does it relate?
PlacementCategories - either 0, 1, or 2. Set/unset status seems to be nonsensical.
CaveInfluencer - always unset
EnemySignificance - "Normal", "Critical", "Critter", or "Swarmer" - again, what purpose does it serve?
PlacementRoomQuery - always null
CheatClass - related to enemy type/rarity/species, but what purpose does it serve?
"EnemySignificance - "Normal", "Critical", "Critter", or "Swarmer" - again, what purpose does it serve?" is likely the ratio of enemies spawned in. Normal being grunts/variants, critical being praetorian/oppressor(?) critter being like the non-hostile bugs (hexawings, cave trawlers, mobula cave angels etc) and swarmers being swarmers

@hot igloo I did actually look into this but sadly it's not simply a matter of setting a "can dig" flag on the enemy. It's tied into each enemies AI state machine which is not something modders are capable of easily tweaking yet.
I haven't tested all flags on descriptors yet but here are the ones I'm fairly certain of:

It's still a bit murky to me, but this is roughly my understanding: Rarity is used to weight how enemies are selected from the spawn pool to spawn a wave. The weight is equal to the inverse of rarity. When a descriptor is selected, the rarity for the selected descriptor can temporarily increase according to the SpawnRarityModifiers which will effectively create a cooldown effect and make it less likely the descriptor is selected again in quick succession. Over time the rarity will return to normal.

a lot of descriptors have it set to true by default. Not all EnemyDescriptor fields are modifiable by custom difficulty yet

(Modded) doesnt even mean your save file is labelled as anything. It means youre running at least one approved or sandbox mod
I thought I recall that after mods came out, you would have to convert your save to a modded save or something in order to use mods? did they get rid of that or something
Youve never had to convert your save to anything. You have to make a separate save to use sandbox mods specifically

Verified AND/OR Approved = you can use your main save and get rewards on it (that's how it's supposed to work)
Sandbox = you have to use a separate save
Check your saves in the options menu maybe, and make sure your mods are actually Approved

You usually get that when you're running an outdated mod, make sure you're not running any that are marked as out of date (they won't have the 1.36 tag on modio and will have an exclamation mark icon in the modding menu). Otherwise you'll probably just have to disable a couple at a time til you find the culprit.

Is mod.io broken? Had some mods issues, followed steps I found on reddit and around this channel (like deleting the mod.io files, unsubbing and resubbing, launching in safe mode or with -disablemodding etc) - nothing worked. And the site won't let me delete my account there. Gives a one second popup saying that it failed then it logs me out of the account. Got no idea at this point what to do and the ingame modding tab won't show me the mod.io terms of use to accept them, and I need my mods so I am not forced to play the game with 15 fps

Im extremely suprised there isn't a sandbox mod for generating missions. Like, think that mod that lets you select missions via seeds, but you can basically customize your own mission's complexity, length, pick the biome its in, the warnings and abormalities, if it has a machine event or not, etc

you can't pick events, but Buyable Missions lets you customize mission type, complexity, lengths, biome, warnings. Mission Selector lets you replay specific mission seeds.

ROCK AND STONE! I need help brothers. Yesterday one of my new subscribed mods did not show up so I tried to delete mod.io folders. Now I can not even log to modding center. I have always "you must agree to the terms of use to gain access" screen and I cannot pass it. I already tried reinstalling the game and this guide: - unsub to all mods on mod.io and delete account
- launch game with -disablemodding in launch options
- exit to desktop and delete -disablemodding from launch options
- go to "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local delete mod.io folder
- go to "C:\Users\Public" delete mod.io folder
- (Check "C:\ProgramData" and see if there's a mod.io folder - if there is - then delete it)
- then launch the game
- create new account on mod.io by agreeing to terms and click install mods (and connecting your steam account)

I have an issue where mod io won't connect to the proper account ingame. It always goes for my old account, even if I log out of the old one and log into the new one, on next startup it'll default for the old one. Is there any way I can fix this? It seems to prevent me from modding my game, at all

Hey all, I've got the infinite fetching terms of use bug. Deleting the mod.io directories in local and public didn't do anything. Deleted my mod.io profile, too, after unsubbing from everything. The usual troubleshooting steps didn't do anything, and I've tried also launching steam and the game as admin, no dice. This also happened after my mods suddenly stopped syncing with mod.io, too. Anything else I could try to get this resolved? Also, I deleted the CurrendModioUserID from config/windowsnoeditor/gameusersettings.ini, but it keeps coming back every time I restart. Could that be related?

Read the mod's description on its modio page, it says it doesn't rely upon any other mod for its settings page and there's a hotkey you press to open the settings.
Depending on the mod, it's probably going to be mod hub though, check the mod's dependencies listed on its mod page to know for sure.

In the modding server (linked in #fan-communities) there's a model replacement guide that covers how to replace a hat. That should get ya started, if you get stuck we have a channel over there where you can ask questions and someone can help ya out.

So is there any reason as to why an audio replacement mod has a 1/100 chance to pack from unreal engine? This is pissing me off because I had to make the same exact mod 7 times now and it only worked once and with too little volume

Simply because of the chance of getting a Mining Expedition cave so you'd have to walk back and forth over and over again just to deposit stuff like Nitra or Gold

But I generally find it irritating that I seem to only get large, open caves for mining expedition

After I installed mods, my "cut scenes" have been moving really fast. Dropping in, I don't even see the pod, and it's a freeze frame in less than a second, after mission screens just have dwarves twitching because the time for their animation is so short. Is this just how mods are, or is something real weird?

Hey, so regarding the mod.io issue, support got back to me saying its a windows 7 issue and that they are looking for a fix, meanwhile I found a somewhat janky but workable workaround
but i had to use a different laptop with windows 10
i logged onto steam on that laptop, let the game generate the json file (which it did no problem, surprise surprise), downloaded the mods i wanted, then copied those folders (appdata/local/mod.io and users/public/mod.io) onto a pendrive, pasted them onto my pc and it works
doesnt let you download any mods but at least it reads those that are already downloaded

PLS is randomized each mission selection now, there was a bug preventing it from working so that's probably why you kept getting the same thing since it only rolled once you went back the rig.

Because while I'm loving the Salvage missions with a mining expedition cave, I basically despise Point Extraction/Refinery in anything that isn't a Refinery or Point Extraction cave
Alternatively to Shrub's suggestion, the randomiser mod includes 2 new structures with large blue textwalls on them (depot and console by window). With a mission selected those will display exactly which seedgen and PLS are chosen for the mission. PLS is basically what mission's map type or shape is used.

The only Morkite I found was in the cave that was built like it was intended to actually be

I have DRGLib installed, and a mod that requires DRGLib (Weapon Heat Crosshair). But whenever I start the game, Weapon Heat Crosshair is disabled, claiming that it needs DRGLib, even though DRGLib is installed and enabled.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Weapon Heat Crosshair and DRGLib.
Do you also have Mod Hub enabled? It requires that as well.
OH. I had it installed but not enabled!
I was confused because when I mouse-overed the little warning light it said "Mods required: DRGLib"

Yes this kind of PLS usually can cause issues with mining expeditions, though other mission types usually end up fine from my experience
I was running through this cave for 15 minutes looking for 2 mules, only to realise that there is a separate cave that is not connected, 60m up in the dirt

it should have a dirted path leading up
MCR is designed to have basically 2 layers
if you spawn out in the droppod, MCR will usually have another big room right above the droppod shaft
and that WILL be connected by minable paths
There was no path up there
But those caves always struck me as odd because they never have anything in them in terms of wall ore
or Hazards
The mod maker added caves above the spawn zone to alleviate some other issues, one of them being guaranteed resources for bad cave generation. You can check his page for details.
I just had a thing yesterday where I had a tiny main cave and had to quit the mission, even with the cave up there, because i missed 700 Morkite out of 800
also i've been kinda starring at the PLS to get a Mining Expedition cave for a Morkite mission, but I couldn't get one

However yesterday I got a Mining Expedition cave for a Salvage mission

I am not sure where to reach out for a couple things I wanna mention. One of em being-the one issue that keeps happening in this game is not having my missions show up on other lobbies to click and other way around.
Also-I think it'd be cool to have a third person switch off option in game cause I think my game play would improve having a bit more vision around me. If there could be a way to switch between first and third person

not sure about the "not seeing assignment missions on other lobbies", there hsould be at least 1 thing that is your assignment
Sometimes your mission is the same with the host and they will overlap in the mission screen, which shows up only with the host's name
Your assignment will still progress after completing it
And yeah I'm still hoping for the third person mod to continue
yours will glow, so even if its overlapping you know its yours
Yea the white icon will appear above your mission but it won't display your name if the host's mission is the same

It happened yesterday and today and has happened other times too and I made sure the other person had their assignment selected too so I’d let them host so we could do theirs instead

audio/visual mods are typically in the Verified category, and not shared by everyone

If they have optional approved mods, you might not have to download anything. And if the mods are verified, you'll never be prompted to download either.

All i have is message of the day and the crosshair overheat mod installed and the libraries to run both mods, 4 total installations and yet my 8700k 32gb ram and 2070s crashed in a refinery mission the other day. No issues in any other games or in safe mode drg/no mods active

Afaik it's not due to cheat/mod but rather weird coincidences when 2 players tried to join the 4th slot at the same time

Like a month ago they rolled out the new site, I'm not a big fan as it's missing functionality. You can still use the old site for the time being if you're not a fan.

so, new to making mods for DRG, approximately where/what files should I be looking for/at to create a difficulty mod to replace haz 3-3.5-4?
Primarily trying to adjust spawn count, friendly fire proportion, health regen threshold and prevent certain enemies from spawning unless they are biome specific
Custom Difficulty is a great mod to adjust some of that stuff.
Go through them one by one. Deactivate every mod except the one you wanna test
can someone explain to me this clown ass system? I tried installing some mods a month ago and assumed that it was just buggy that day. But now i again go into modding tab, open the website in overlay, im logged in. And yet i still have to look at a list of 20 mods in-game that i didn't subscribe to, but the 1 mod i did subscribe to doesnt appear or do anything.
Why is there no button anywhere to "sync", or to download, or do anything? I logged into the thing, and now it just stands there and nothing changes???

I'm aware of that, but that mod forces the game to think it's haz 5 first, which means it shows up in the server browser as such. and that's counterintuitive and misleading for people joining
You can tell people what you're doing in your server name
You can use Custom Difficulty in tandem with All Deep Dives Hazard 5 to modify haz 3/3.5/4 within the context of a deep dive
There should also be presets in the difficulty github for hazards 3/3.5/4 if you're playing them individually/separate from deep dives
And people will see that you're using Custom Difficulty when they join so they'll know what's going on. Checking for dependencies likes to take its time so it's usually pretty apparent what mods the host is running.
I also like using the MOTD mod to have a little welcome message that explains the custom difficulty I'm using.
oh im glad it wasnt just me then. it was preventing me from downloading / uninstalling new mods saying shit like "mod will download when you log into mod.io in game" even though i was already logged in.

true, but again, since custom difficulty forces the server to appears as haz5, people who have haz 5 filtered out or completely ignore that haz level won't even give it a chance. it's a matter of face value that I'm trying to solve, even if it takes me the long way around
i've played with custom difficult solo 3-4 times, and even if i adjust it to more like haz3 but with double spawn, it will still give me haz 5 progress in perk progress
To say the least, if you've been playing just long enough that you're not extremely green in the beard, you don't know the workarounds to finding a modded game, and aren't going to be wanting to look at haz5 games.
Most people aren't looking for modded servers as it is.

Anything that is gonna change enemy spawn compositions is probably gonna land you in approved anyways.
Still think Custom Difficulty or Swarm Control are gonna be your best bet for achieving what you're looking for.
Don't know why, but the plasma borer in mission randomiser makes my game crash whenever it shoots me. any help?

I haven't quite figured out why it crashes people but I did make some changes but it hasn't been released yet.
Escort "scaling" never worked so I removed it because people would get 10x payout for no difference. Makes no sense why it doesn't work because the values DO change, but it doesn't actually work.

I have a strange problem with my mods. I only use Verified mods. I can install them, and play with mods active, and everything works fine after installing them. This is great!
However, after I finish playing, I close the game, like normal. I come back to the game later, and upon launch, the game crashes, and has to start again with mods disabled. It then allows me to launch the game, and reinstall them, and play. Any ideas on how to fix this? or how to find what mod could be causing it?
The mods I'm using are also up to date, I don't enable the ones marked out of date
There was an old bug when drg updated to a new system where even having out of date mods subscribed but not enabled caused startup crashes. If any of your mods are from before the new secondary weapons update you'll have to unsubscribe from them.
Some of them still work, but they tend to cause that crash
so would they be the ones marked as Out of Date? Or do I need to manually check the upload date and uninstall the ones from before season 2?
All out of date would be faster, but just the ones from before season 2 are the problem I believe

"Problem solved, i delete "C:\Users\Public\mod.io", "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local\mod.io" and erased my steamid from "CurrentModioUserId=" from FSD/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/GameUserSettings.ini (in deep rock galactic game file) together without booting the game after each step and it work "

also ever since i enabled DRGLib my animations have been so fast they basically finish the moment they start
You can make duplicates of your saves if you are worried, also whenever you enable a sandbox mod it will ask you to make a sandbox save or load one (if you have one)

regardless of what category it ends up in, I still would like some direction. There's a lot of files, and without some guidance, it's frankly a little daunting.
Is there anyone know anything about endless "Fetching for Terms of Use"? I am, like some other people, unable to link my mod.io account in-game. Tried everything. Restarting game, reinstalling game, deleting mod.io folders in users and appdata, deleting my old account, creating new one, disabling firewalls and antiviruses. Everything, it simply doesn't work.

Banagement has a fix earlier in the thread. However, if you're on windows 7 you're stuck in limbo like the rest of us until mod.io fixes it. Someone else had a fix earlier if you have a backup win 10 machine, but its tedious to change mods.

Because evidently mod.io made a change on their end which doesn't work on win7.
Which to be fair, win 7 is depreciated and past the EOL date set by microsoft. Your options are 8, 10, 11, or linux if you want to play DRG with mods.
Im getting so annoyed now with the "if the game crashes on startup every single mod gets instantly removed and will resinstall". God. Is this an unintended bug (like the mods get corrupted or something) or a deliberate failsafe, because my god if its the latter it needs a better soution. Losing 20 minutes installing mods again and all the issues it incurs is so damn frustrating
If mods weren't disabled by default on a crash (likely caused by said mods) then their bug reporting system would be jammed full of false reports and actual crashes would never get fixed.
They're not talking about them being disabled. They're talking about them all redownloading, re-extracting, and requiring themselves to be applied all at once unless you restart your game again. It's been a nasty issue with the modding system for a long time now.
Yeah, thats what i mean. Honestly was very unsure if it was a deliberate choice or just an odd bug. Furthermore, this also prevents the aformentioned "disabling problem mods"; once this issue occurs drg has a nasty habbit of enabling every mod, regardless of what was enabled beforehand which can really easily end in a vicious cycle of crashing, resinstalling everything, enabling the problem mod itself, and crashing again. Only way to stop it is to manually unsubscribe from the problem mod before booting drg, since theres no way to cancel an install (another pretty annoying issue, especially with bigger mods that take a while to install)
You can also restart the game one more time after they finish installing, but it doesn't always correct things.

Not taboo at all! Plenty of people use suggestions from others to guide what they work on. You'll probably have better odds of someone seeing your idea in the modding server though.

Hey guys, I'm running DRG on a win7 64x system. I had the same issues as people posting in this chat, basicly mods not loading and not being able to accept the terms of use for mod.io. I'm not a programmer, i don't have any idea what step in the process did it, but trying to upgrade my pc to windows 10 (which failed) fixed mod.io on my win 7 system.
The update progress had me chkdsk, system scan, boot clean, and it had me install this little thingy

I don't know if it's relevant, but after the update to win 10 failed, i tried DRG again, and the modding worked. Maybe somebody with a little more practical knowledge about this stuff can figure out.

Mod.Io broke win 7 support. The very nature of upgrading is the immediate resolution. Folks shouldn’t be using a networked win 7 anyways since it’s EOL.
Strange thing with the retrieve black boxes side mission in the mission content randomiser is that it's horribly off. It said only 10 of them, but one I'm in the mission, it says 100!

i think i phrased my statement badly. what i meant to say is that, when you are using verified mods, if you complete some achievement, you will get it on steam. but if you complete that achievement while using approved mods, you won't get the achievement on steam. so, if you are achievement guy, don't use approved/sandbox mods until you get all the achievements on steam

Pinned messages describe the differences between the mod categories. Sandbox is the only one that requires a different save, blocking your progression in your main save.
