We had a team with all classes, lvl 73 min, randoms. Did it first try, but I definitely noticed that two of our players were not ready for the lethal enemies + dozer (they died 9 times).
I think that if you have at least two players who are used to haz 5, you can finish this EDD just fine

I really liked the old seed, but I think it was just tedious for players to have to do such long missions just to fail.
Yeah that did make it kind of long
it's just that this mission in particular, it was interesting. The drilldozer stopped very close to spawn to refuel.

It was a very fun and challenging mission, me and my friends beat first try
however when I played the new EDD with randoms, we failed.
in 4p there was a spitballer on high ground and it was easy to get wrecked in the open area

People just aren't supposed to go down that much

because you'll still lose dozers
yeah, dozer missions especially with lethal enemies, harder for players not used to hazard 5
I like elite deep dives a lot, when they are challenging
makes me want to replay them
I got a gout of non AC gunners who were just running out of ammo a lot too

that room made callouts actually relevant
The time we won we had everyone doing what they're supposed to be
it was such a massive room, in comparison to the current one, for the heartstone
driller covering exploders with cryo, AC firing at COM, scout calling out HVTs and IFGing the det, etc.

If you don't play optimally at the highest difficulty you should fail
but it could have been shorter

I think they have for example patched bugs that were made more obvious by EDDS and then not changed the EDD

I'm just slightly disappointed since, like I said, the generation was really cool.

At least for me I get 1-2 bulks each mission 2 but never in the same place
its probably the fact that its long + confirmation bias that contributes to the misconception that they are preseeded
ngl i feel like these deep dives are a poor introduction to the new biomes the modifiers for the azure weld mean half the time you are more concerned with getting oxygen or running away from low shield than they do checking out the new biome
Yeah, Im okay with the difficulty and modifiers, since I have 200 hours in this game, but new players who prolly decided to do their first deep dives, and were unlucky enough to start this week...

I for one miss the days where there was a goal to keep in mind that I had not yet beat
I understand your position. When I was really interested in playing DRG (like 6 months ago), I was eager to try new elite deep dives, and even If I failed, I wasnt discouraged, it was a challenge to overcome, I didnt ask devs to nerf anything.
But I dont think that greenbeards want to overcome and get better. They just want to have fun and explore their new game
nah i mean in general this was the intro update for the new biomes and the cave gen isn't anything good or even like usual for the biomes, this was meant to be a showcase but it was just aggrevating to transverse
I don't think EDD attempters should be greenbeards
if you're lvl 25 you can attempt DDs
you're allowed to attempt EDDs but the way that they are presented - its fine if you don't win
my expectation for a greenbeard in an EDD is that they will need to be carried
I also don't think people should be expecting that EDDs are a good intro to the new biomes - EDDs are supposed to be optional end game content. No content is locked behind them
if anything having relatively challenging modifiers/mapgen on EDDs is good for showcasing what endgame content on the new biomes is like.
Honest the EDDs don't seem that difficult. Besides stage 2 of this week, the last 4-5 sets have be relatively easy

Level as with almost every other game just represents the rough amount of time you invested in the game. I've played with lv. 100 players that were way worse that lv. 20 ones.

They didn t fix the bug yet that makes bugs deal more melee DMG to Doretta, it probably contributes alot to it being harder than usual

Is anyone else having problems with there being almost no minerals in deep dives?
That's not a problem, aside from Huuli Hoarders, deep dives have nothing but gold and nitra
only took me an hour and a half but I finished my first solo deep dive.. it sucked
it depends on adapting your playstyle
they’re pretty nice but probably won’t get as much done as detonators for example
a good build focuses on ammo and spread reduction, as well as blow through to deal damage while placing mines
a build I was reccomended was 1121x

this applies to every "minelet" type debuff
the very fact that cryo minelets are on a timer means that not only do you have to count on bug pathing being consistent, which is isn't always, it tends to miss freeze threadholds on anything worth freezing

consistent performance is important, more so than max payoff
cryo minelets are too unreliable, basically, the 1 second arm time completely ruins any plans you could have with it without loosing out on all of the damage by shooting the ground

And since it already takes Molly quite a bit of time to get to the pod, because our walking robots are not like in Black Mirror, you can easily beat Molly to the pod with the head, and still have to wait and fight bugs. And you can throw the head most of the way.

it’s 15 seconds at least to get 3 clips in them
buuut, there is the fact that it skips dread phases, so it might be worth trying even if dread changes have kind of altered the timings or made it harder to take advantage of

So, our deep dive today, about 5 seconds after we opened the dreadnought cocoon and got the terrible twosome, we also got an an apparent random appearance of a Hive Guard. We died, naturally. Was this just the world's worst bad luck? Or is it part of this deep dive?
I got the same situation. Deep dives are seeded IIRC.

Lol, I had 2 greenbeards in my team, also first time in this biome... That was not easy
I managed to get through edd an hour ago after the nth try
had two lvl 150+ that helped me through
Science says: the second time, we didn't get a Dreadnought Hive Guard spawning at the same time as the terrible twins
Only significant difference was 4 players the second time, 3 the first. 🤷♂️
that was a tough one, though! Glad to be through
I didn't think it was as bad as I was expecting from all this chatter
the landscape of the second stage was the worst part, had a few folks fall to their death a bunch of times
just lost the edd cuz dozer ran over a detonator right as it spawned

We completly forgot about o2 on the way back, everyone died and we barely made it 
low O2 and shield disrupt on a combat-intensive mission
The shield disrupt went surprisingly well but I see how this could easily fail a DD
yeah for my team it went better than I thought too
I feel like I take less damage than normal during a shield disrupt mission
Are the twin Dreads Deep dive only or are they in regular missions too? Or is it random if it's 1 Dread or 2?
I didn't do a elimination after the update yet
They are in everything and you can have any type of dread for any elimination and any dread random spawn. In one mission they will not appear twice.
does the drop pod always spawn back in the first room after an escort?

In the last Escort Mission I played the escape pod spawned in the next room like 100m away
I took their question as “are the twins only in dives?” Rather than “do the dreads change in dives?” But I think you’re right that the dreads are seeded. @celest oasis

So if you have a 3 dread elim you fight them all. Like some crazy version of Pokémon.
I only know the twin and... well I guess they didn't remove the old dread

We all died off on our first attempt at the o2 as well, ended up forcing a more favorable drop pod location by backtracking a bit before calling it in 
But realisticallly the tuning is good. It’s certainly not too hard.
Our mistake was that we forgot about o2 and followed the Driller instead of molly
Before the update dreads were way too easy. People got used to clobbering an enemy that was supposed to be really tough.
But we somehow made it by constantly reviving each other
oh rip. we pretty much never play low-o2 missions so everyone just panicked and got too spread out to revive
I always respected the dreads even before the update. There were only a handful of fights where I thought that it was over too fast
And then of course there are things like a swarm or bet-c or that plant during a Dread fight
Not necessarily you can get the same dread for the 1st and 3rd egg, the only logic is you can't get the same twice in a row

Are the dread spawns on Deep Dives part of the seed that gets generated or is it randomised at Egg popping time?
I believe they are seeded now, but am unsure (If they 100% are will start marking Dread type)
I did the previous DD twice and I got the same dreads each time.

I've tested using the current first mission of the EDD and got a classic dreadnought every single time out of 5 attempts of the test, the same as Muffin. I'd wager that it is seeded considering how unlikely it is to get the same result so consistently. Though, Moose, your statements suggest otherwise.

I'm happy to keep getting the twins. They seem the easiest to overcome now. My first experience with the Hiveguard was terrifying and the OG dread seems a lot tougher now

Well the EDD looks more doable than last weeks that's for sure. I kind of wish we would get the dozer on the first leg though and just get it over with.

before the hotfix it was random, after hotfix (3?) it was seeded to be the same

Advance warning for EDD this week: On stage 2, bring a driller and drill ahead to clear "the obstacle" before you start up the drilldozer. Otherwise 95% you will fail.
Digging works too, it is not too far away. Should be easy digging through soft sand.

I remember people complaining last week about the fuel stop taking place way up off the ground, but i didn't get that issue
they did a hotfix a few days after weekly reset to force 1 refill in dd escort
so it probably changed the stopping position

You could potentially make doretta flies up in the air instead of taking the normal route.
Happened to me a few times. I know this for sure because they happened during EDDs.
Doretta takes different routes depends on how or where I dig.

first attempt engi blast bursters me, and tries to just hold revive while he's obviously getting attacked
second attempt, different engi kills a bulk right on the drill at the refueling stop
between this and people not looking up so they get passed around by the leeches, solo is the way to go
I'll be on in 4 hours or so and I don't do those things if you still haven't beat it
but I'll LFG here probably, I have better luck with that than the in game menu
if i do a deep dive again, will i get another overclock, or do i need to wait for a new deep dive
you get one blank, weapon, and cosmetic per first completion of a Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dive per week.

and killed myself while I was the only guy left alive
I do believe the Doretta's AI is similar to that of a M.U.L.E. That is, it will try to reach the checkpoint following a path if there's already one or by drilling the way if none is found.

I had to drill my way up there to push the dang thing along

Sounds like EDDs are living up to their name again
it's certainly a bit tough
most of my deaths during the dive were due to poor positioning
there aren't a lot of areas to take advantage of, lots of narrow ridges that don't offer much time to shoot the bugs
and obviously a lot of leeches you need to be aware of
the hearthstone fight was actually pretty easy
since it's an open flat room with plenty of space to shoot
I did fine as driller and scout
I'd say driller since that's the class I'm gonna play it solo with
for EDD positioning is key, had to carry the whole team as Scout on stage 3 cuz gunner had poor positioning and kept dying

gunner autocannon is good on escort
Cryo cannon if you play driller
Cryo is p much a given
Cryo is the best element in the game
engineer PGL nuke is also a good choice if you're responsible or take the friendly fire perk
stubby shock build is good for stalling
for scout anything works imo just play what best suits you
Controversial but I really like gunner toxic autocanon especially solo. Excellent crowd control because you can slow the horde down immensely

I found the damage difference to be negligible in actual gameplay, rarely are the groups large enough to take full advantage of cb
it's not just large groups, it's also range
also the only refuel area is very close to the start
you can drill to it early and clear it out
2 of the rooms on escort have 13 leeches combined
so stupid that this is still a thing

my gunner died from it
Also there are no mactera spawns during the third stage
just tons and tons of glyphids
so nuke would be a good option

i would have been more tolerable of the enemies if the map wasn't a roller coaster
we had so many oppressor spawns and they would get into these really dumb spots where they couldn't really be shot during the repair phase
i did enjoy the challenge overall though
just probably won't be playing that one again lmao
I think the challenge is a bit disproportionate to the minimum requirement. You have to have pretty damn good knowledge of all of the games mechanics to really get through those last two missions, I don't see how someone with 1 promotion could do it
agreed, escort was kind of a hellride but that refinery placement made the last mission probably one of the toughest i've ever had in drg
i could see it being easier with super good communication or something but you still make a good point
just failed EDD five times in our usual 3-dorf premade.

driller is my go to solo class
but gunner should make it pretty easy, carpet bomb the exploder spawns and last chance shields

Just did EDD as a Scout with 3 other randos. Too many times too close. Drop POD spawned near the ceiling and they all died trying to get in stage 2. On Stage 3 there were a couple of moments when I was the only one standing with a bunch of oppressors at each lying dwarf. Brutal.
Got really lucky we made it.
then I suggest you try driller with cryo, makes short work of any exploders with no danger to you
also makes it easier to get to eggs/into caves

It's useful for events like these when you have to take down a high health enemy fast
that can't be lit on fire to make use of volatile bullets
Explosive Reload is especially nice on solo escort because 6 shots kills a Rock.

heavy hitter deals w/ rocks quite nicely
heat pipe is great but without heavy hitter my damage just feels so lacking

Heavy hitter you can hit 40 damage on normal shots which is pretty meaty
the only reason you'd take the latter is proj. speed

the room is huge, the refinery platform spawns way up top and all the jacks are below and far, and it's shield disrupt
my very first EDD completed was Total Fissure in Glacial Strata. while I have completed more in the time since then, that will be the most memorable one.
Second stage of EDD scares me
They are a lot of fun and can be quite challenging.
Haven't done the elite yet, but the regular this week was a good time. 5 bulks across the first two missions was exciting.
Your health and minerals stay the same when you finish the first or second mission and proceed to next mission.

Gunners should be using at least 6 shields on Doretta during the omoran fight, assuming you start the fight with max ammo and use only one ressup during the whole thing that s how many you get, I pulled through yesterday but with a leg3 rank 600 gunner who shielded Dotty only once you don't think you d have to ask for shields
gunners dont use shields enough anyways
half of them camp on ziplines and forget about all the others
sadly a lot of people forget that the gunner is more than just his guns
hence why a lot of people don't see how useful it is to have a gunner in their team
Shielding a resupply midway through a big swarm when your team are running dry is such a satisfying feeling
People tend to keep them for emergencies but by the time they drop it it s too late already. It s fine as an emergency revive but you're better off clearing the bugs around your teammates than waste one for revive. The best usage of shield is when your team starts getting overwhelmed, to counterattack and keep the bugs at a manageable sized swarm. If you re whole team is down no one is taking advantage of it and when it wears off the swarm is the same
sometimes its hard for me to tell exactly when that moment is. like, i cant see my allies hp, i dont actually know if theyve taken damage, or are just kiting a little
where did you defend from waves? i found the bottom was a nice spot after that pipe was figured out
Honestly we were kind of all over the map.
MOST of the fight was held out at the refinery itself, but a lot of it ended up scattering to that mid-level platform just in front-below of the refinery

I haven't gotten past level 2 of the EDD this week, party because of my "teams", and certainly because my tactics were not correct, but after reading through this, I'm going back in. Made it to Lv.3, we took too long and wiped to 2 bulks. Didn't help that our engineer bailed.
Silver lining, I found out Cryo is pretty great. Used it with melee perks + carpet bomber gunner really helped out. Single target damage wasn't the greatest though.
I would hazard a guess and say the Lead Storm would be better for this EDD, be sure to pick up C on T3 to maintain some level of crowd control.
The shield disruption isn't the worst part of stage 3
it's the terrain
and constant enemies
and the three leeches that sneak up on you
Although after playing through the dive a couple times I think stage 2 is a bit harder

Ditto, although predrilling into the next cave and killing everything was a good idea, mentioned on this forum. It worked, almost completed level 2 then we choked at the last minute.
I gave up predrilling cave on EDD stage 2. Everytime my teammates did that Doretta would fly into the air, and everyone would fall to death then doretta get wiped.
Cleared the stage with did it normal way.
On stage 3 your real enemy was Vent Wind. We did the tunnel near Refinery station, and could fight the swarm with breeze. (You need to prepare route incase Bulk spawn though)
just pubbed it and we had on average 11 revives each
the second mission was very doable with sticky flames and carpet bomber + fear
managed to keep a plate alive lol
My friend and I did it. I went lead storm minigun with an explosive neurotoxin bulldog build.

Well it's a good way to prevent dmg if you didn't make it with the drill at full health
my dozer lost one tread, and the pubs abandoned me
but that wasn't due to the rocks

we had an engie pancake shielding us the rock phase

Static spawns are based off player count. Things like leeches, spitballers, BET-C, etc. will change depending on how many players you go in with

according to later dev streams its not bugged, they fixed pathfinding bugs that make enemies more able to reach Dorry

What is this "doretta taking increased damage" I keep seeing being thrown around? Does any one have documentation or a source, or is this just a rumor? Because it looks like the damage hasn't changed but the amount of bugs attacking the drill has.

Pre-drilling is strongly recommended stage 2
I got it in two tries
But the second was incredibly close
3rd EDD is super vertical with an offshoot to one side
We had 2-3 dets on ours as well
Didn't have too bad of a time with stage 2 but 3 was wild
we got phase 2
but phase 3 was hard too
not sure why ppl are so against "pre-drilling" , this group i just played with were like "are we realyl playing the game properly?" and attempted to yolo room 3
Normally I don't pre drill but the leeches make it so hard if you don't
