the main thing i like about it is that it encourages ppl to play different classes. I do think they shud prob let new players get more ocs per week tho, especially if they add more ocs for old guns like they promised
even without ocs the game has quite a bit of content rn, 6 weapons for each class is alot to play around with for a month imo
"Some choice is better than none" was literally the absolute minimum "change", and it got unanimous praise. People will praise the farts that come out of Ghost Ship's ass because they're "indie". And it makes me mad even more because trying to change anything about how you get OCs with mods gets auto-Sandboxed for "affecting progression".

I play solo, I play scout, I don't think I can solo a deep dive, I've never completed one, I'll keep trying.
ye maybe its cus im comparing the older version of the game to the current one, but i think just unlocking all the guns in the game rn wud take a while for a new player. actually testing them out wud prob take awhile too. Im also of the opinion that if u only play 1 or 2 classes u shudnt really complain about not getting ocs u like, but thats my hot take lel

Ammo/me dying/an elite bulk detonator shoved firmly up my ass. usually i just get overwhelmed by bugs.

Ammo definitely shouldn't be an issue solo. You're either going too slowly, or not finding enough Nitra. Move quickly, focus the objectives and Nitra.
Fall damage, you just learn to avoid that with experience, no trick there.
Elite Bulks, use CC. IFGs, focus Bosco on it with Overcharged Rounds for the Electrocute, use Pheros to distract it. Scout should easily be able to dodge and whittle Bulks down.

I did it! Finished my first edd woot
Almost did it solo but a bulk detonator on 3rd mission had other plans, downed me 3 times in a row
Went in after with a random driller*, we did it in an hour, went 7/0 revives/deaths which I'm pretty stoked about

idk it took 6 months of doing all my weeklies and events to get all the overclocks
not too bad i would say
Oh I just jumped in dds as soon as I finished getting the first promotion on all the dwarves
if you do everything week to week it takes 21 weeks to attain all weapon OCs
not to mention all special assignments that are available during events but that's like 6 OCs/ year extra

Late reply but I find it way more fun when you have a team with varied skill level. Tbh the most exciting part of the game is saving the scout who got leeched into a 200 foot cavern, or trying to recover when your engi accidentally fat-boys the whole team, or the panic that ensues when the driller tunnels your team directly over a cliff and half the squad falls in. "Screwing up", creating messes, and finding your way out, is sort of the point of the whole game. As a newer player myself who recently started trying EDDs, people are generally super helpful and friendly.
I know it might come off like "just don't be anxious 4head", and by all means keep playing solo if you're having fun, just wanted to offer some perspective. Messing up is a huge part of this game and IMO, it's why DRG is so much fun.

and its definitely funnier during an edd when the stakes are higher
scout and gunner in particular are extremely bland without overclocks

Solo edd is pretty damn difficult but with the 4 man team it was fine yeah
I think solo edd is possible but losing to the twins twice on the last stage due to bad swarm spawns cut my patience
solo edd is pretty doable if you understand that bosco is an insane utility in all situations
getting 4 ppl for an edd is hard
Try going duo, felt alot easier than a full party and you only need 1 other person
Typically only takes like 10 minutes max for me usually.
two people has relatively high chance of both dying at once though? compared to 3, or 1 where you have guaranteed revives
You underestimate the effects of solo enemy scaling + double the resupplies for both of you

not all primary builds are really amazing though
In terms of difficulty, from easiest to hardest, I'd say 2P > 1P > 4P > 3P
But then stuff like Escort with Warnings is straight up unfair for lower player counts, but fairly easy for the higher ones
You also have stuff like PE being easier 1P than 2P
as a general rule yes, but with 2 really good players probably not
a good scout with a solid mobility OC will definitely out-do bosco at aquarqs
but you dont always get someone trying to play that fast, which is fine
Maybe in Sandblasted, no Scout can beat Mining Expert Bosco in mining out heavy objects
he takes more time to bring them in however

My understanding is that uncovering alien eggs can trigger a swarm, and that swarms don't happen when a dreadnaught is alive. Is it possible to collect both eggs during a dreadnaught fight to avoid a swarm on the 2nd stage of the EDD?
Timer swarms don't happen while a Dreadnought is alive. You will die if you attempt that.
is it better to bring the wavecooker with the cryocooker, or is it better to bring subata ?
also do the neurotoxin still damage frozen enemy ?

like others said, the scaling is the same as 1p so you're basically replacing bosco with another dwarf. It becomes even easier if one of you or both took Iron Will
I managed to get to the 3rd stage in this week's edd solo without deaths, and this is my first week doing dd's in general so yeah solo/duo is definitely alot easier than a full party or 3 dwarves
Subata is pretty weak offensively without Explosive Reload, and ER's Internal damage doesn't benefit from Frozen. Both EPC and Colette Wave Cooker are fine for just temperature shocking, but EPC is a lot better as a standalone weapon, with the exception of CWC's Blistering Necrosis being absurd with Ice Storm. Tbh you're better off using Corrosive Sludge Pump over Cryo Cannon this Dive, solo Cryo blows vs Twins.

Well with Cryo Cannon you're mostly gonna be using the normal shots, but the charged shots are literally the best thing about EPC. Thin Containment Field is bonkers. 240 Fire damage in a 3 meter radius. One-shots Tri-Jaws, chunks Praetorians, mines minerals. Absolute Swiss Army knife mod.

still very bad because the subata has low base dmg and relies on either weakpoint multipliers or explosive reload to up its dps. Cryo does not effect either of these so epc just ends up being better regardless of what oc you use
On pret you gonna deal 17x15x3 damage (756 dmg) where with EPC thats gonna be only 320 dmg (200 temp shock and 120 from one projectile)
Just use explosive reload if you’re going with subata its the best you’re going to get it too
Well with the logic of full mag dump, TCF instead of Plasma Burn lets Heavy Hitter do 40 x 9 x 3 = 1,080 damage. Also, Plasma Burn HH lets you one shot Frozen Grunt Guards. Subata can't do that.
Subata is pretty much only good for Explosive Reload builds with CRSPR or Sludge Pump, there's nothing it really offers Cryo Cannon that EPC can't do.

21322 ER: ((15 x 3) + 42) x 8 = 696 damage from one magazine on Frozen target
12322 base EPC normals: 25 x 15 x 3 = 1,1125 damage before overheating on Frozen target
Automatic Fire doesn't affect damage and hardly buffs DPS, so no reason to consider it
EPC isn't even any good for full unloads on big targets honestly, that's what your Axes are for
with fire+weakpoint it buffs dmg quite a bit
Volatile Bullets with Cryo Cannon?
full auto deals with mactera swarms quicker due to huge weakpoint bonus on their bellies (plus +dmg on fire mod combined with how easy it is to light mactera on fire)+dont have to reload to do full damage, meaning you dont have to shift targets to apply explosives on mactera 2 and 3 while mactera 1 is still lining up its shot
or if you choose to reload after each application, it let's mactera 3 line up its shot
its a niche case but its the only thing I really use subata for besides shredding on fire praetorians/faces hosting guard/slashers
I dont think I've seen a gunner bring volatile bullets in months
also tbh explosive reload isn't THAT much dmg because it's shitty subata
most use i get is one tapping spitters

extended magazine explosive reload takes maybe a third of the health bar off a praetorian
2131x Explosive Reload single mag damage: (12 x 1.8 + 42) x 8 = 508.8 damage
Single average 21x12 Hyper Propellant shot: 489.5 + 121 = 610.5 damage
And then Explosive Reload is even stronger vs burning targets with Volatile Bullets, and 2x and 3x weakpoints
Something many people do not notice is that unlike Embedded Detonators, Explosive Reload has no direct damage penalty. It's legitimately busted, but it's super overlooked because it's on one of the worst guns in the game

I almost never do Elims with randos because of that one time an Engi Fat Boy'd a cocoon while everyone else was down
No one properly leads default, everyone unloads into Lacerator, no one knows how to get behind Hiveguard

And no one seems to bring actual Dread killer stuff. Yes, a lot of it is OC bound, but I think people should know better than to bring CRSPR + Fat Boy + Special Powder + Coil Gun
Scout never brings IFGs, the Engineer throws 20 Proxies on the Dread so no one can get near it, Driller will just rando Satchel toss and blow himself up

Same reason I've never trusted randos with Industrial Sabos. Like, here's the thing: Most mission types don't need to you actually communicate and cooperate all that well. Mining Expos, Egg Hunts, Refineries, you can demolish all those by just bumbling around, doing your own thing. Callouts, bringing synchronous loadouts, and agreeing on a specific strategy? Almost no one does that.
At least Build Inspector softens the pain...
Tbh Build Inspector should be base, someone dropping in with Cryo Cannon when I'm using Burning Hell, or me dropping in with Burning Hell when the Driller is using Cryo is such a pain in the ass

I think the lack of a build inspector, along with hiding player level is part of the reason DRG has a reputation of being a very non-toxic beginner friendly game. As soon as you introduce fully-visible builds, a meta starts developing, ppl start calling you out for rocking a weird experimental build, and it adds somewhat of a barrier to entry for greenbeards. You’ll start getting lobbies like “TCF drillers only” and “NO AOE BUILDS”, shit like that. The upside of course, like you said, is that it’s way easier to coordinate a game plan and avoid negative synergies
Not saying DRG would instantly turn into moba level toxicity, I just think It might not fit the casual vibe that the devs clearly prioritize

Deep Rock does a lot much more than that to foster positivity instead of toxicity, and I don't think something that hinders co-operation is one of them. You're also speaking as if metagames aren't something that's an inherent and inevitable part of every game. Just look at how quick people are to shit on meta stuff like NTP or Sticky Fuel because they're "braindead OP" in #drg-chat
If anything, it helps foster the mindset of "It doesn't matter what you use", and hinders discussion about certain things being significantly weaker or stronger than others because "meta doesn't exist"


It's the mindset that lead to Hurricane being buffed to be super OP because "Autocannon is still good, numbers don't matter"
i'm sure the devs will simply make the new enemies highly resistant to the current meta

HURRICANE Guided Rocket System
- Increased the bonus of the T1 Increased Blast Radius upgrade
Went from +0.5m -> +0.8m. For comparison, Max AoE Carpet Bomber/Neurotoxin Payload radius is 2.7m. Max AoE Fragmentation Missiles radius is 2.8m. Max AoE Minelayer System radius is 3.3m. Combine that with Hurricane's +50% weakpoint bonus, and you have something with both way better single target and AoE than Autocannon. I think GSG relies too much on pick rate and too little on actual practice. Hurricane gets buffed to obscenity and DRAK gets nerfs in the same update.
and yet hurricane is not OP by any means and Drak is still very much as powerful as it was before.

S1 Sludge Pump got mod nerfs because they were picked "too much" when it was the weakest Driller primary by far
Minelayer got its ammo buffed when it was already two-shotting Grunts in a large radius

You know why Napalm-Infused Rounds got nerfed? Because every Gunner on Hoxxes was using it. Volatile Bullets dodged a nerf because it was deemed "unpopular" again. And when Hurricane's perfectly fine mods and OCs were deemed "unpopular", they got super buffed into making Hurricane OP again (T13, Minelayer)
If it was really all about "fairness", Volatile Bullets would've got a nerf too

tier 1 aoe mod being buffed was also pretty nice for aoe builds but not game changing. If u were using frag missiles, salvo or jet fuel with stun, the gun has barely changed at all since release

Not quite. It depends on where Molly is, and where the host is when it spawns in. But if host and Molly are in the same place every time, you can force it to spawn in a certain spot fairly consistently.
I like big Bertha and combat mobility more imo.

cos escort can't have dreads, I think the devs don't want a mission with multiple boss fights
I would appreciate if they made lethal harder and increased the bulk detonator spawn rate
Hacking Pods are just terribly designed, ignore the (current) Rival Tech imbalance. Bugs spawn directly on top of Hacksy, rather than a distance away like the Salvage Op holdouts, or the Black Box. I'm going to hate being forced to do these in EDD, especially as a duo player. Oh, there's an Industrial Sabo? Have to be Engi + Driller!
Im a level 11 engineer but i cant figure out how to unlock a new weapon at the assignment board, can anyone help?

@forest raven you'll always see what assignments you have available in the board, and then need to do the missions to propery unlock/be able to buy that weapon 🙂 same with promoting. When you eventually can promote, go to the memorial hall. If you wonder at exactly what levels you unlock certain weapons, drg wiki is a great place to check. 🙂 Hope that helps!
I'm not a big fan of hacksy or uplink, but I enjoy the boss fights, like at the end against the caretaker and the dreadnoughts ^^
for some reason i always found the version in industrial sabotage to be a lot easier then the event version
I feel like it spawns less bugs, yeah. Spawn placement still sucks, though

data event spawns way more enemies and usually on top of hacksy

both of those classes are the ones that handle swarmers the easiest

I can haz 4 if I know the goal. The swarms are just doing their job this week 😛
Only times I do Haz 5, is when I play with those that play it regardless, like USteppin or Skappzz

Gemini coverage and vamp drills have not helped me solo this weeks elite DD
the amount of bugs that appear and how long swarms last(especially on 4p) is very entertaining and the amount of bugs that appear on 4p allows for a lot of close games which in my opinion I find more fun then always winning on haz 4 and lower

This edd was pretty brutal yeah low oxygen makes molly able to sabotage you when ever she feels like it
I did it with 4 players after losing twice solo to twins and I was the only one to make it in the pod
stage 1 edd was rough, we got a dreadnaught twins spawn randomly lmfao. rest was ok
pretty sure i got my entire team killed by starting the blackbox during a swarm after we were mostly ready, but we brought it back
there was so much nitra on stage 1, we had to call 3 resups and we still had enough for 2 and a half more going into stage 2

Just started the EDD, a nemesis shows up and the mine head falls on top of it
if you have a gunner, shield can push em out, if not then can either abandon and try again or figure out which dwarf he's targeting and have that one lure him away (figuring out is the hardest part)
fighting a nemesis solo is a pain, thank goodness the mine head killed it and I didn't have to
nemesis is a bulk detonator functionally

Too bad you can't carry morkite from one level to the next, it would be funny to be in a group of 4 and have enough morkite to finish while still in the drop pod
Same thing happen to me but I managed to run away and kill him ON the black box now I have massive crater that I have to stay in and a horde of bugs
so I order a resupply in the middle and fight with all my might, thanks to explosive + fear perk on my smart smg I have enough cc and damage to kill the horde
although I downed 2 time and have to use my iron will to refill my ammo and health

I actually had it in two different places, both in 4p runs, was weird. one was out in the open directly visible from the minehead, the other was in the middle of a side tunnel extending from an upper layer
felt like the map layouts for the two were different too, and the aquarqs were definitely in different places
wonder if one person was a ps4 host and it couldn't handle the normal version or something so generated something smaller
static spawns depend on player count, iirc
but if it was different both times with 4 players i dunno what the reason is

same logic can be used for salvage missions then... you can let people redo a failed event?
most people tend to argue for the blackbox style because it doesn't seem to logically hold up to have a single chance for lore reasons, like why wouldn't they be able to attempt a signal or restart the refuelling process, plus there are some harrowing defense situations like a bulk or nemesis that shows up
Besides gameplay reasons I don't understand why you have to stand next to fuel cells in order for them to add fuel to the pod
the fuel pumps by matching the synchronous pumping of the 1-4 dwarves near the fuel cell
they're just over there pumping!
it's also the most vulnerable game mode by far since it's difficult to salvage (hah) a greenbeard/speedster hitting all the buttons
distinctly remember my first time doing one and finding out what a grabber was and failing the mission horribly due to repeated kidnappings
even dotty lets you have a few tries before telling you you've failed
a greenbeard spawned in to my haz 5 mission and called the drop pod while I was fighting a nemesis, oppressor and various other things leading to a failed mission
I was almost out of ammo and hadn’t cleared the final room of nitra

summary of events
first mission: everyone was downed at one point, i just about managed to keep up, we powered through
second mission: someone accidentally popped the nought cocoon early and we were scrambling, i made a move for the previous volume and told the others to follow which might have just saved us a loss; everyone was down on a couple occasions except me
third mission: basically a victory lap, got all the eggs and that was it. very good mission in all
i'm not cocky enough to say i carried that mission, but i certainly saved it on multiple occasions and my back is a little sore
very proud of myself and that team
might of had plenty of downs but we powered through
we had a super graybeard scout grab all the eggs in stage 3 one after the another. bloody hell the swarm that followed was insane but we somehow cleared it

In the second stage of edd, a silver scout on our team didn't know how to quite keep track of the area of the cave and because of that, he went into an unexplored cave by accident when we called drop pod and he died to cave leech, when I revived him I was stuck in some vines and he accidentally activated the bet c, and we only won cause the driller left dwarfs behind.
this edd sure is rougher than the others haha

EDD done again this week with my friends. This conclude this season with success, we completed every week's EDD together, looking to do the same in S3, so hyped.

the hardest (and worst) part of this week's dd is that it has escort duty. if you're confident with escort duty you'll be fine
i have a doubt. so imagine that first egg and second egg are programmed to spawn bugs (just assume). if i take these two eggs in quick succession one after the other, will i be getting 2x spawn or will it just just be 1x spawn? how does it work?

in elite deep dive stage 3, did anyone else have one of the eggs pre-mined before the mission began and only had to do 1 swarm because of it? egg was just on the floor at the bottom of the tunnel for us; not sure if the swarm just triggered as soon as we entered the stage or we just skipped it altogether

just cleared DD and EDD and I feel like this week EDD is Haz 7~8 lol. My group had 3 Detos in stage 1
and 2 Detos at the same time during the fight with twins in stage 2
this one didn't seem that bad, you probably had a pretty bad roll of rng
i thought the edd was shockingly easy
last time i couldnt get past stage 1 with 5 attempts and this one was first try minimal downage
maybe ur scout is just that good
in general, as long as you play fast in EDDs it will make things much easier
i was the scout though lol
imagine if the stage 1 edd was swapped around to stage 3 😂
the dreads on stage 2 were an exercise in good scouting, for me
dodging, kiting, and reviving when necessary, were my main "goals"
We didn't go slow but with all the stupid level of bug spawns + carrying green beard at the same time was not really easy tbh. However, we still made it lol.
the greenbeard thought that he joined DD, not EDD lol. Anyway, he finished his first EDD with us. It was fun but I was exhausted a little bit after that. 
oh yeah, due to player scaling having dead weight on a team can make it feel way more difficult for sure
like even going from 4p to 3p the difference is very noticeable
but this week's dives can be done pretty quickly if the team is on the ball. got mine done in about 30 mins for both.

DD was fine. nothing particularly special. EDD was a tad rough, especially with only three players, but we ended up getting through it.
This week on EDD pub we had a lvl 34 scout that did not know how hard things can be. She went down like 25 times and did barely any damage.
i wish the game has a button to remove all the new item markers at the equipment/cosmetic/bosco
somehow edd went really smooth, neurotox gunner + goo bomber driller, dont remember what scout and engie had. 2 bulks spawned at the same time on the dread mission, no problems caused tho. i think we only had 5 downs throughout the entire thing
last mission we did a bunker tho
edd with relatively greenbeard players, somehow finsihed the second stage, loading onto the third stage and lost connection...
I got disconnected in the last stage of the normal deep dive. 😢

DD was easy cept for the end of second stage. A nemesis was waiting for us as doretta drilled out into the chamber. Grabbed two dudes immediately and we were already in a wave too. Was a little rough.
Lost EDD the first time in the second mission as the Dread came directly from underneath us and instantly downed two of us. Ran it again with some other ppl (randoms) and we smashed through it.
1st mission black box EDD is getting me so good rn, the aquarqs aren't bad at all but I keep getting swarmed and then alongside a bulk det spawned and cleared all 4 lives in an instant.
I've never done a deep dive, would anyone be willing to let a greenbeard tag along?

The only truly painful part is the black box on the first stage with elite bulks in a tight area
but you drill it out first and its ok

It's not the greatest single target but it ignores armor, pretty handy when you have to go through a praetorian from the front or can't get to weakpoints, it pairs well with how I play so I usually go for it
I imagine the Mole is useful on Elim?
We brought along a lvl 18, he had 22 downs by the end but I appreciate his courage
This edd is possible with solo scout and after the black box the rest of the edd was fine

Cycle Overload greatly increases the Firerate cap on the Shotty. Can be built for either 10 Pellets or 132 Reserve shells, either works.
Would be nice to have either on it, as it is I mainly use it to overcharge my turrets and kite till they cool off then rinse and repeat. Only really use it on acid/web spitters and any other immediate threat if I'm boggled down
Feel like the overcharge shot gets way more value than a single shotgun shell fired

if you can capitalize on that then turret whip is great
I can't sit still so I'm not a huge fan of whip but I recognize that it's very good
the mistake I see people make it using mini shells with turret whip for no reason
the good OCs also work with turret whip
and your shotgun is still good at being a shotgun
I try to set it up so I'm not always babysitting in one spot, got both turrets so usually put them relatively close then kite/reload/overcharge between them
Although, and correct me if I'm wrong, but aoe doesn't deal any extra damage to weakpoints right? I'm not really sure what the turret shot from the turret whip is classified as, direct or aoe, but wouldn't it not benefit from +weakpoint damage if it's mainly aoe?

i think the best way to do EDD as a weaker player is to hop on open lobbies thursday the day they come out when its busiest and get on a party of 4

That also depends on how hard the DD is, a salvage escort or black box will require communication
or at least some good team chemistry I should say
as someone who regularly brings my dumbest game into DDs and EDDs, all you really need is a forgiving team, one of each class, and at least one person running field medic. other than that, it's just a matter of improving combinations for faster playthroughs
