I remember the early beta days where this happened ALL the damn time, especially on sand maps.

If you were soloing as a driller you'd be unable to leave the mission.

Well correction, there was ONE way to leave the mission. You had to drill up into the ceiling, fall to your death on the ramp and have bosco revive you. But again sandstorm map, that ceiling is very far away. That was back in the days before we had Dash or even a ledge on the drop pod you could stand on.

my intent with this specific build is simply to be a WM1 phlogistinator pyro, here to commit warcrimes on Hoxxes's fauna.

I'm trying to go with a balance of being effective and being enjoyable and thematically fitting.

my flamer is a 2-2-2-2-2 sticky flames build that seems to work perfectly for what I want it for: setting a lot of things ablaze very fast. damage is pretty spicy, and it slows. I don't use thorns simply because few things can ever get to melee me if I do things properly.

the CWC is built for thermal shock. still needs some tweaks, but the idea is not unlike flare-punching in TF2-

the idea behind this is simply:

-set enemies on fire and keep them clumped together in burning tar
-proc temp shock for brutal single target bursts
-abuse temp shock for aoE damage stack/overlaps

lastly I include neurogrenades.

in a way it's sort of like an actually good gas passer.

toss it, immense radius of "swarmers and airshockers do not exist in this region" that does a very nasty nasty DoT and slow that stacks with flames.

proceed to detonate it with flamethrower for some nice burst damage... which helps set the enemies inside on fire, wrapping up with temp shock.

overall, I think this build is ok.

but I'd like some inputs on how to improve upon it.

Shield link is alright, although I never use it. Don’t think you need field medic on a driller. Your primary and C4 should allow to safely revive anyone if you play it right

Having said that, I think some of the good perks are just lame. For instance, I don’t use dash because it’s so OP and don’t use iron will because it feels super cheap. So I understand not building meta

• Mini shells is good when you need ammo efficiency. You'll lose a bit of damage but you won't run out of ammo for far longer
• Cycle overload adds a lot of damage and you can shred things easily with it, but you'll likely run out pretty fast too
  So I'd say choose which one depending on what you're doing

If you want an advice though : since the magma will take care of the swarms without having to shoot them directly, it's more interesting to pick T2a instead of the AoE radius (which you won't make much use of).
Also Bio-mass converter in this case won't have much use either since you won't be shooting directly at crowds. T5a or T5c will be more interesting, depending on what you're using as a primary.
