the crystals used to be a much darker purple and it used to have more blueish overtones from what i remember
however things have shifted to be more magenta/purple

i think it may depend on what cave generation you get but honestly i cant remember, thats on all low settings as well so maybe on ultra its a bit different

I didn't see any glowy blue crystals or electric ones in the two missions I tried, but I assume those are still there and I just didn't see them

since I usually use the zhukovs because I don't like the boomstick, but I wanted to make an anti dreadnaught build with as much dps as possible and since people told me the boomstick is great for dps I put it into my dps table to compare some boomstick and zhukov builds.
Either I made an error somewhere or the boomstick is horrible lacking behind. Don't mind the last Zhukov build to much since that one is farely unaccurate. I estimated the dmg of the embedded detonarors per eye (and got to about 15), included the explosive resistance of the drednaught fully for the embedded detonators since I suspect they are explosive dmg, I reduced the dmg I added according to them not critting and I ignored the fact, that they are not applying when the dreadnaught still has armor (not the dmg but the application, so they can still hit both).
The saving grace of the boomstick migth be the auto reload modification, which might make it more usefull for killing dreads when used in combination with the primary weapon.
btw I didn't even consider that the shockwave of the boomstick probably doesn't crit
Tho the crits are calculated for a crit multiplicator of 1 so it wouldn't make a difference in these numbers
for a 2x crit the top boomstick build you would multiply it's long dps by about 1.8 since ~10% of it's dmg is the blast. The the zhukov build on the top would be fully double

If you have reliable electrocution application you can increase the zhukovs dmg by 30% more by using the other t5 modification

What would be a more deciding factor here is dmg/timeToSwitch weapons from and to it when you would think about it for your total character dps.
One more thing I want to add is that the shockwave does aoe dmg I think. So it would be more effective against multiple opponents.

so I added some build for the primary weapons and those lack behind a lot. The lowest line is the double barrel boomstick, which performed best out of all of them, but this time if you would only use the autoreload feature. Adding this long dps to one of the primary weapon ones would give you a bit more than the dps if you would pull out the boomstick only when it's loaded and otherwise use the primary weapon. (A bit more, since it doesn't consider weapon switch time). As you can see the optimal weapon combination this way only gets you to ~290 dps which is worse than even the boomstick alone and even more so than the zhukovs alone
So in summary: The boomstick performs horrible in single target dps when compared to the zhukovs. It does a bit more dmg without weakspot hits (~9.6% more), but does a good amount less on weakspot hits (~14.9%). It's total dmg without weakpoint hits is ~38.1% less and with weakpoint hits ~52.5% less.

So from (singleplayer) testing against dreadnaughts how the above numbers compare to ingame: The boomstick actually perfomed much better ingame. Here's the reasons: In singleplayer you only have really short amounts of time to shoot at the enemy and the single shot of the boomstick always goes off while you often not evenget a single magazine of the zhukovs off. This is made worse by the fact that dreadnaughts usually bug out(?) where they start turning with you even during animations. In multiplayer this will not be the case however since while you're not targeted by the dreadnaught you can just walk behind him and unload magazine after magazine. The far lower ammo on the boomstick was really noticeable tho.

In 1800 hours I have never seen something like this. A completely disconnected cave without any signs of a tunnel. And it wasn't just an air bubble, it was a full cave with minerals, leeches and a crate. It was a mining expedition and we've already been in the deeper caves of the mission.

Those caves are some of the coolest environments in the game and i hate them. Theyโre far too big for flares, so youโll spend a long time poking around in the dark looking for whatever resource youโre after, consuming resupplies (and good luck finding nitra in those caves) and getting whittled down by swarms.
Makes me wish there were a mega radius OC for the flare gun.
