The dwarfs kept asking to use the mech from the cargo bay against the glypids so management final caved as the voys in r&d said this could provide vital data. This mech has been given vital armor and a electic shock point defense system to help come some of the beasties off it. This is my attempt at designing a mech. Use reactions to say whether or not the gray outlining looks good or not. Note there will be future additions to this such as making class oriented versions of the mech with stuff like jack hammers, net lauchers, shoulder mounted mortars, shoulder mounted autogun turrets, bridge suppliers, the gun from the a10 warthog and any suggestions you have. This is a WIP song concept for: The Glyphid King - a dreadnaught who wiped out a team during an elimination mission, then completed its metamorphosis. A glyphid king’s purpose is to convert a cave system into a hive for a new glyphid queen, and protect it to their last breath. After its near-death experience with dwarves, this glyphid king has adapted multiple countermeasures against their technology. One of those being the ability to jam signal lines, preventing offplanet communication. Mission control won't be able to get you out of this one. Though, with the startling increase of unexplainable crew disappearances in this sector of Hoxxes, DRG has been sending drop pods down with some extra firepower. Your crew is not the first to be caught in its trap, but may be the first to get out with their lives. Now go avenge the fallen, miner. (It would be really cool if an artist on here could draw something for this concept )

It's front legs have small pockets under the spikes (those half-hex looking thingies) so it can dig better, and the back is a lot more spikier somewhat resembling a crown. And that's about it for now, i still have to make sketches of it's side, back and arse, then make a nice line... but i'll work on it later, rn i gotta go, i hope to see feedback on this thing

Anyways, for the rest of my ideas regarding the glyphid king I imagine it’d be a bit like a dragon, sweeping through entire cave systems and converting any non-glyphid life into glyphid chow, all while collecting shiny/metallic objects. It would then hoard these objects in the “throne room”/hive room of the cave. Since many crews were killed there before you, it would also contain lots of gear and even entire broken drop pods. My idea is that the dwarves would have to engineer a weapon to penetrate the kings ultra-tough shell using the items they find in the throne room (rival tech, machine event parts, drop pod parts, dwarven weapon parts, certain minerals and even an ommoran heartstone)

I imagine this being the final new mission type added to drg and it just being a callback/finale to everything that came before it

hello again, side sketch done, he's a bit longer than the usual dread, also he's invulnerable to almost all damage, even in the arse. Tho i think according to your lore he could have some weakspots as undeveloped parts, undeveloped parts being weaker replacements of the parts the king lost during the battle with dwarves before the king metamorphosis took place. Maybe it's a loose tooth, a crack in it's armor, loose plating and etc. Either way you are going to need bigger weapons to kill this thing, I would imagine it as a raid boss that you'll fight till you run out of special ammo, maybe there would be something like super concentrated nitra, or a different ore for special resupplies, and when you run out you can "extract" by dying (regular weapons and pickaxes wouldn't be able to damage it so that removes the problem of tryhard scouts endlessly pickaxing it), and at the end you get to see how much damage your team dealt to it

anyways, i'm more happy with this sketch than the front view, but i still need to make topdown view and then i could make proper lineart. As an enginner i wanna do a "blueprint" of this king so i can then draw it posing, ir maybe i could try 3d modelling, but it would probably take a lot of time for me to make a 3d model of this thing :P
